During those times, he was raised and experimented by an unknown government that wanted to create a special forces that utilizes magecraft. Sigma lived his life as a mercenary, same profession as Kiritsugu. But by that time, it was already 2000s, so the boy never met Kiritsugu nor his mother, Maiya, since they are dead basically for those who know what happened.
Sigma can be technically a step-brother to Shirou and Illya if only Maiya married her boss before her passing.

Sigma becoming the true lancer makes me immediately think he might make a contract with Alaya and become a counter guardian of some kind since the life of a mercenary is all he knows. That he might mistake Alaya as a god or something after being influenced by Assassin. Also the Watcher and (potentially) the Gatekeeper class seem interesting. The watcher having no combat ability but feeding a military operative all this info is interesting and for a gatekeeper just from it's name seems like a class thats at it's strongest when protecting its territory or whatever it identifies as it's gate.
Watcher: We will make you the true lancer.... But first you need to accumulate some feats and clout so Alaya knows your name and eventually you will have a video done on you by this dude named Tsiah........

Honestly, It's nice that characters like Maiya, get more background rather than just a bit of a backstory like mentioned in Zero, Sigma is a very interesting character. that interest definitely increased when The Watcher told him that they were gonna turn him into the True Lancer of the war; which furthers my intrigue and thinking of wtf are they gonna do and what kinda crazy shit are they gonna pull
Maybe him becoming True Lancer is similar to how Emiya became Archer. Maybe the counter force will be showing up in F/SF?
That would make sense. The true and false holy grail war is by the the most destructive capable war we have ever seen. Around three of the servants summoned can overturn the world or wipe out humanity (false rider, enkidu, Gilgamesh) and there’s also somehow a divine spirit occupying a homunculus (Ishtar) honestly the longer the war co to use the more likely it is that the CF will get involved.

@@yourashi9082 is he did it would be incredibly short. Counter guardians are significantly stronger than servants as they aren’t limited by the parameters of a holy grail and are powered by the subconscious of all of humanity (alaya) itself. CF’s are given enough power to obliterate their target and with how powerful Gil is and the servants in the war it wouldn’t even be close. Even then counter guardians are continually revived until they defeat the enemy so even if Gil miraculously kills Emiya, he will still come back.

But he would basically make the grail war a slaughter as again due to his powers granted by Alaya he would be significantly stronger than everyone else both physically and I terms of magical reserves, he would basically become a better Gilgamesh who does whatever it takes to take down an enemy. Theres also the fact that he can’t die as he would always get revived. If Emiya was to take part it would be extremely one sided.

I know SO little about Fate Strange Fake. I can’t wait until it finally comes out. I know that if I could get my hands on the light novels or manga it would be better, but I have to work with what I’ve got. I’m such a huge Fate fan and I love hearing about FSF, I’m super excited.

As for the bulls, that is an intriguing way of referencing both the Gordian Knot (Alexander presumably cut it as a symbol that he would conquer Asia) and Zeus. The Chariot is King Girdius’ chariot, and it flies because it rides atop Zeus’ lightning (and Alexander claimed to be a son of Zeus).
Watcher's censored true name in the novels has the same number of Japanese letters as Leviathan.
I must say that everything about Sigma intrigued me. His background, his connection to maiya, his design and personality, and everything about him are just interesting to me. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that we haven't seen him use a single spell. Yeah, he's apparently specialized in familiars, but even then, a spell casting mercenary should have some form of close combat spell. He hasn't done anything magical, not even summon a familiar or use reinforcement. Him becoming a true lancer is an interesting plot point that should be followed through on in some form, but the kid hasn't even picked up a spear yet! I do hope he lives through this ordeal and gets around his shortened lifespan. I also hope that in a possible spin-off or sequel, we get to see him interact with this world's shirou. Shirou probably isn't gonna show in strange fake, but rin and the rest of El melloi's class definitely is as the master of hippolyta. Maybe he can form a bond with them, and after the war ends, he goes with them, or something like that, leading to him running into shirou later on. Having the son of kiritsugu's assistant and the adoptive son of kiritsugu himself meet is too inticing.
Rin might actually show up, during the first chapters we get told that someone from the tohsaka family is currently with the magus association, that someone its almost 100% Rin, now we gotta wait and see if she actually appears at some point.

There is funny fanart where Kiritsugu and Maiya come home, Irisveil is going to greet them but shocked because there is another person and ask to them. Maiya then answer, " he was my child " thinking Kiritsugu making child again with Maiya, she kicked Kiritsugu out of home, later Shirou, Illya, and saber came home finding out Kiritsugu outside, Shirou asked " What are you doing old man? ", Kiritsugu while freezing answer " I don't know son ".

"Where shes from, people didn't get names." Is such a fascinating tidbit with how names have power and are associated with the themes of identity in the Nsauverse. Really emphasizes how sad Maiya and Sigma's lives were in a way thats thematically consistent with the verse as a whole. It even marks a fundamental difference in their lives where Maiya had a connection to attach to in Kitsurugu which gave her a name and Sigma doesn't. Which underlines Sigma being groomed by Watcher to be a servant via his lack of identity and connections.

Yes. Fate/Strange Fake takes place after the Greater Grail got dismantled at the end of Fate/Stay Night, so a version of Fate/Zero had to happen.

but we can know by people’s dialog in fsf, at least almost similar event happened here too

@@DR_REDACTED Why would I. Urobuchi certainly gives you nothing to truly like about her. She just existed, mostly as the author’s way to try to make Kiritsugu more gray. Because apparently being raised as a mage hunter and an assassin from childhood was not edgy enough for him.
They probably thought orphan child soldier would fit the character and remembered Maiya's backstory.
I think it's pretty cool that even a passing dialogue in any Fate media might end up getting used later to expand the lore. They have so many characters and storylines it's hard to keep up, so it's nice to see that they still make an effort to connect things sometimes.
