    Thank you for this video. My grandson's PS4 Pro went from sounding like a diesel truck to sounding like an electric car. We are very grateful.

    Thanks for the guide, it helped a ton. My model of Pro had an additional cover over the CPU bracket that yours seems not to. Screwed down with 8 small black screws. I cleaned the fan blades, blew out the heatsink, and replaced the thermal paste and my PS4 is running nearly silent now.

      Your welcome. I know that one, I think it's the CUH-7200 Pro that has a metal cover over the CPU.You done great, I hope your PS4 will serve you well for years to come.

    Thanks for this step by step video. Just got my hands on the latest 7216 and it desperately needed a cleanup. Heatexchanger was clogged. Fan was filthy and just overal heavily dusty on every bits and parts. New paste and pads was needed. Also found two places where it looks like to have been water exposed. OR the manufacturing process uses flux? dunno, cleaned it anyway.

    • @andymaverick
      @andymaverick  10 місяців тому +1

      Your welcome, I'm glad I could help. It sounds that system needed some love. The two places that you are talking about should be flux, I seen them before on ps4 pro motherboards.

    I did a thermal paste change on my PS4 slim and the processor seemed a bit smaller on mine. Also I used the dot technique on mine and applied very little thermal paste (did a glass test) and worked great. I would recommend doing a glass spread test for peace of mind (made me feel more confident while not overusing the paste. From what I have read the thermal paste is not conductive so there is no risk there. Great video!

      The security screws are TR9 torx's the rest are philips head screws. Hope this is helpful for you, I didn't check what size I was useing for the philips heads. If, you own a set of screwdrivers you should find the correct one that fits in size. I'm glad you fund my video helpfoul.

    You definitely added too much thermal paste. I recommend putting some on and then using a flat plastic piece to spread the thermal paste evenly on in a thin film. If you just put a big glob on it then when you press down, it will expand outwork greatly, which just means more cleanup next time.

    • @MrManu2468
      @MrManu2468 Рік тому +4

      I was gonna comment the same. That's one hefty chunk of thermal paste.

    • @andymaverick
      @andymaverick  Рік тому +2

      You're both right, I got carried away and put too much. Spreading it with a plastic card is the way to go. It will be harder for me next time when I wan't to clean and change it.

    Dose it matter, I used a t30 paste and it’s still working good. Got it for 10 bucks at Best Buy. They had another past for 17 bucks. I think it was t45 or something like that.

      It depends on the state of them. If they're dry and brittle then sure, replace them. Mine was in fair condition so I left them.

    After applying thermal paste in ,is it normal that while playing games it will get hot but fan sound will be silent?

    • @andymaverick
      @andymaverick  6 місяців тому +1

      If I understand correctly your machine is hot but it's blowing out hot air, then everything is fine. If not make sure that your fan is plugged in. You can also change the thermal pads if the're worn out.

      Thermal paste *AND* 80 mm Fan grill mod, preferably one with a dust filter like the SilverStone SST-FF81B. You need both if you want to keep the PS4 Pro quiet.
      You need to align the Fan grill with the PS4 Pro Fan, there are several UA-cam tutorial videos where you can see the distances.

      Not really, the PS4 Pro needs to have its entirety filled with paste, it is NOT a CPU, it is an APU, it is different. But sure, maybe a tiny bit less would've been enough to fill the entire thing.

    • @jrcogburn
      @jrcogburn Рік тому

      Inaccurate information. You are covering the lid only, not filling the entire cavity with thermal paste. If what your saying is true - then half of the AMD processors would have paste applied different then their siblings. center dot - center line or surface spread. Not caterpillar blob. @@ignacio6454
