I loved the original Peg Turbo so much I Bought 6 pairs of them. So far I've done a combined total 2,141 kms in five of them, which is saying something as my current 'rotation' consists of 29 pairs of shoes. I also agree that the Endorphin Speed is the closest match.
Hi there ! Im not a big runner but my fav is the og pegasus turbo .. its so comfy and bouncy with the perfect cushioned fit. What in your opinion is a good/close competitor?? I tried the react line and joyride and hated it, it feels so stiff when im hitting the ground. Can you help please
@@ThinkFitMind Endorphin speed is god but the upper isn't as comfortable. There appears to be a new version of the Pegasus coming out which looks to have ZoomX and react but the upper looks more like the Vaporfly Next% 2.
Thanks for the comparison! Sorry to hear your experience wasn't as good with the Tempo Next%. I had a mostly positive experience because I bought it for what it was designed for "Tempo Running". I believe the use cases for the Tempo Next% and the Peg Turbo 2 are not the same. That's why I don't believe the Tempo Next% is marketed as a Peg Turbo replacement. The Tempo Next% is designed primarily for faster than marathon pace and is meant as a part of a 3 shoe lineup. The Peg Turbo 2 could be used for true daily training, but you could pair this with Vaporfly or even Zoom fly Flyknit and cover your full training needs.
Wouldn't you say that the Pegasus 'Turbo' is meant to be a faster version of the Pegasus? The older 3 shoe rotation for Nike was Pegasus-Pegasus Turbo-Streak. Now it's Pegasus-Tempo-Alphafly.
Really enjoy the turbo1 and 2. I even think they got better with age, both models stemmed to feel better to me at around 75 miles. I have rum both pairs well over 300 miles because I subconsciously chose them for most of my runs this year. It’s a classic hope it does not vanish.
I see the Tempo Next as a Zoomfly replacement, as it is more closely related to that shoe than the Turbo line. Nike seems to have abandoned the Turbo line all together, at least for now. The Saucony Endorphin Speed is my favorite daily runner of 2020.
I really wanted a Peg Turbo V3 model, 'coz they're my No. 1 favorite versatile shoes for almost all kinds of runs! #1 Nike Peg Turbo V1 & V2 #2 Nike Invincible Run FK #3 Nike Infinity Run V2 #4 Nike Alphafly #5 Nike Pegasus 38
There's a nike factory store in my town that still occasionally gets the turbo 2s in stock and they're typically around $60. It amazes me that nike still sells these shoes for almost $180 still on their website. You can find them elsewhere for much less.
Your comment at 14:30 about the Endorphin speed really has me sitting on the fence. I do max 10k runs and maybe the Tempo Next% would work for me but I’m a bit concerned about injury potential from all the compression technology. I have a pair of Adios Pro2 and they feel awesome but I’m not sure my knees are loving every aspect of the compression/rebound technology (felt a niggle above and inside left knee that went away on the run) so looking for a shoe to put in the rotation that maybe isn’t so bouncy. For someone like me looking to replace the Turbo 2s as a do everything shoe now 600km used and needing something new, it’s between the Speed 2 and Tempo Next%.
The tempo is great at what it’s built for speed. Also don’t mind the noise if your running down the road people can hear you coming. The turbo I loved have had about 7 pairs. But never thought of it as a fast shoes more a everyday trainer. I used it for longer easy run or just a jog.
That's a good point. Definitely clears the way on a busy street. The Peg is more a high performing all rounder -great if you're the sort of person that only buys one shoe. It can go fast but it's not at the top of the race shoe list.
Don't understand why Nike would get rid of the turbo range after it's been such a success and so popular?? Just have to hope they keep launching new colourways of the Turbo 2 for a while!
That's a cracking shoe and one I (Nick) have really loved using this year. It's a good shout, for me the Endorphin Speed and Peg Turbo are slightly more comfortable, but you're right that it's a great all-round option
Frickin' loved the Tempo% for the HM. Because of the wider arch support, I definitelly love it more than the AF and VF. I have yet to feel a shoe's weight on my legs. Loved keeping my pace in them. Best shoe For up to HM, I'd say (only cause I never did a full marathon) Wish they made the heel hight "legal", just so my mind can't hate on myself for wearing it on a competition. But also kinda stability would be slightly improved.

New to the channel and running for that matter. Really interesting review but telll me, what is the significance of different drops in running shoes and why (if at all) would you avoid a low drop over high drop or vice versa.
It's a big question but largely drop comes down to personal preference. Generally it's wise not to go from high to low suddenly or vice versa but whatever works for you really
@@gabrielbinag9781 true to sizs, they should fit pretty much everyone pretty good, they will fit just right, not too snug imo, not the best for running tho
squarewheels 2 very different feeling shoes IMO. The Run Fast 2.0 for me feels almost like a racing flat with just enough cushioning to make them comfortable. Love them though. The Reebok Floatride Panthea feel almost identical to the Peg Turbo. Different uppers but the ride was identical.
If the Tempo Next% works only for tempo runs and competitions, would you recommend it over fast lighter shoes like the Asics Metaracer, than also can be use for the same purpose?
For me (Tom) the Tempo does its job well because it's fast and durable. The Metaracer is lighter and better for racing , but it's not going to last as long if you're using it for a lot of training miles.
@@lvalday that's a point! And the answer again why this footgear a real gear and a kind of useful tool. Preparation to a marathon, when you run like Kichogeeeee... 😁
Zoomfly 3 is sooo much better than peg turbos. Great on easy, long & tempos. I even used it for speed while I was looking for a speed shoe, tho a little heavy still performs very well. I started my nike journey with peg turbos but then got some zoomflys & just kept picking them over the turbo. Nt - I reckon they take 50k to ‘break in’
This might be a tough question. If you have to pick a pair of shoes from other companies, which one do you think is the most similar to Turbo 2? I know you mentioned about Endorphin Speed in the video, how about others?
that is exactly the case. I never liked any Zoom Fly versions and Tempo Next% is replacement for them. Tall and heavy. It should not be compared to the Turbo. What Nike is doing now is weird. They are killing the best shoe that they have made, namely the Peg Turbo 2.
Great video and totally agree. The Turbo is that good and versatile a shoe, I don’t think Nike can afford to ditch it. We can’t be running around in stacked, plated shoes all the time.
Is there a shoe same weight and feel to the turbo 2,i usually race in them, nightmare to get hold of them in a size 12. Dont want to spend more than £120
I'd say yes (Tom), if you're planning on using them for racing and getting some PBs. But you wouldn't use those shoes for training. They wouldn't last very long.
@@TheRunTesters That's a clue man! Dude they made it only for this purpose of course with a fat lay of rubber. As a concept model preliminary made before the carbon plate will be integrated in the next version of em

As of today I am using the nike epic react flyknit, which I think is ok, but not super good, so I would like an upgrade. Open for other suggestions as well!
Are you aiming to do all of your training in one shoe? The Tempo and Zoom Fly 3 are both good for specific training at higher speed, but neither is particularly good for consistent daily training. I (Tom) would always say the Peg Turbo for covering all of your training if you're planning on sticking with Nike.
Hey guys! 🙌 Why woldn't you try and test Hoka one one Carbon X Spe?? Especially in compare with your lovely Pegs t2... IMHO Turbo 2 just tremendously sucks to Hoka at all when I put them both one of each foot. Bullshit sensation though when stepping on t2 after every step in Hoka. Start understanding that Pegs are clunky and splashy after all. And Hoka is more springy and more informative.
Who cares if a training shoe is fast anyway? The point of training is to get fit for a goal and for that you'll wear your racing shoes. The times you set in training are not important. With that in mind, I'd say that the biggest failing of the Tempo is that it has an illegal stack height. If it weren't for that, it looks like it would have been able to serve as a race shoe as well as a training shoe for those who don't want to burn upwards of €200 on shoes that can't be relied upon to last more than 200 km.
I don't get the Peg Turbo 2 love-in tbh; it's expensive and I think there are quicker shoes that are cheaper. I can personally run quicker in the Novablast and it's probably too firm for a comfortable marathon experience.
Real shame that they're getting rid of the peg turbo 2. It's definitely my favourite easy/long day shoe for the roads.
