@@EDDBUD I wore them for a 10 mile run and quickly realised that they were hammering my shins. My go to shoes for a tempo run would be either New Balance Rebels or RC Elite, both of which are significantly lighter and softer resulting in less leg fatigue

@@EDDBUD Nike must be about to launch a new Tempo Next%, as here in AUS, they're being run out at near half price. So in terms of our price 270 down to 140, which is 76quid......at 76quid, the fit, outsole and ZoomX & Air Pods can't be beat.

As this is still a current shoe I'll drop my 100mile cents here.
As Mr. Edd Budovich says - it is an aggressive shoe. The cruising speed I find it can still tolerate is 4.55 -5.00m/km. Tempo - 2.30m/km and it still had more juice in it, but I'm no taker for that. The faster you go, the better it feels. All this together makes it a difficult shoe for interval runs, as your warmup/cooldown/inbetween will have to be at 5m/km minimum!
The shoe requires a forward leaning position. When going up-hill (30 degree climb) its heavy but the bounce will get you on top faster. At the same angle downwards, due to the forward lean, will leave you wishing more, and the heel foam will just be an extra weight to carry. Its not as agile when cornering, but its not a 70's car either, so you just need to mind the trajectory and other runners when in a race. Pretty solid grip on tar and on dust.
    Overall
Its an Ambitious shoe, so if you're NOT a seasoned runner that can keep up with the pace it requires - not offers, steer clear, and pick the FLY 5, otherwise your knees and shins will be paying hard & heavy.
Ideal for anyone ready to gain extra per km and improve PBs during races, as long as your starting base is 5 and above.

I’ve come back to this review 5 months on. I had these back in September and first time I went out I thought, “wow-clunky, noisy, but such a great fit.” I ran in them a couple of times, but sent them back and got some Endo Speeds instead. And do you know what? I’ve been sort of missing them....The Speeds are great and I’ve put about 150 miles on them, but they’re quite wobbly in my opinion. Anyway, Nike now offering the Tempo Next% in the sale for £102!! So I’ve ordered a pair in turquoise and am really looking forward to getting acquainted with them again! Having watched this review again I don’t think I’ll be disappointed. Just wish that I’d stuck with them first time round.......😉

Aside from getting offsides with Nike on the "hypebeast" way they launched the Tempos, I have to say I now love the shoe. I put up new PRs wearing the tempos at the 10k and half marathon distance. They feel fast and the energy return is functioning as advertised. My feet are wide and they are a snug fit but have compensated by wearing the Balega Ultralight socks. I also have the Alphafly which I'm using sparingly until races come back. The Tempos feel just as fast but the Alpha has more cushion for the marathon distance. I'm far from a Nike fanboy but have to give them credit for releasing two game changers in 2020, the Alphafly and the Tempos.

I think the sound of the foot strike was a bit exaggerated by most reviewers. I feel like the Alphafly’s sound is more pronounced. I’ve been surprised how much I’ve enjoyed this shoe at slower/faster paces. It doesn’t feel clunky, to me, as other reviews have proclaimed. Only drawback, for me, is the material on the back of my heel has rubbed it raw on a few occasions especially when running at a higher clip. KT blister tape has alleviated those issues though

I’ve got 267 miles in my RC Elites, think they are a versatile shoe. Although stack height on paper seems quite high, feel very stable. Work on easier runs 8 minute mile pace, but better at higher paces, as you can feel the plate and “spring”. I’d use these up to a Half Marathon, I think for full marathon I’d want a slightly more cushioned feel. The grip is a key reason I’ve used them lately as country lanes very muddy and wet and never feel like your going to slip. The lugs haven’t worn either. I’d still race in the Vapourfly TBH but the Elite is probably the closest to them. Very snug fit, I should have gone up half size as tighter than the New Balance TC.

Can I ask why you don’t think it’s suitable for a daily trainer? I can’t really justify multiple shoes in rotation for different purposes. Not sure how that happened as I only did road running. Sent them back to Nike today for a refund (why dont they do straight exchanges???? lol - I need to pay more now for the same thing as they are not on sale anymore). They seem to roll a little more than the alphafly but a little less bounce. But (for me) these are leagues ahead of the speed - which despite the glowing reviews just feels a little harsh for me.
