    Can you please do a video on installing the 11 speed cassette on a 9 speed freehub without skipping any steps? That would be greatly appreciated.

      You will need to replace your 9-speed cassette hub with an 11-speed cassette hub for this to wok. It looks like the owner of this bike already had an 11-speed cassette hub on his wheels, and was using a 9-speed cassette with a spacer to get proper alignment.

      @@YouNeedToHearThis So are the cassette's any wider? is there a way to know it will fit your frame?

    Thinking of upgrading my 8-speed Trek to an 11-speed 105 groupset. I’ve got the same wheels as in the video, so maybe it’s a sign! Thanks!

    To Frame Up Bikes, Did you had to change the freewheel hub in rear wheel when replacing 9 speed cassette with 11 speed cassette ?

    Can you tell me if I can put a 10 speed cassette on a 9 speed wheel, both shimano and with in 4 yrs old on both wheel sets?

    • @YouNeedToHearThis

      A 10-speed cassette will work on a 9-speed cassette hub.

    So @ 22:29 you show wrapping the tape inside to out for the drops, however on the tops you are wrapping the same “in to out” which is opposite of how it should be. On the tops you tend to pull or torque towards your body or pull back, thus you wrapping should be “out to in.” Food for thought…

    • @bmorlok1
      @bmorlok1 2 роки тому

      Yeah it was strange they explain why they wrap it the proper way on the drops then ignore that logic on the tops.

    Almost cheaper to buy a new bike imho. I love my 20 yr old frame but dont think Id drop this $$$ ($1600.00?) on it for 2 speed upgrade.

    I am sorry, nice guys and all, but this video is pretty useless for what the title proposes. It doesn’t explain or even show key passages, like how to install the cassette, how to install the levers, how to determine cable length (apart the horrible loop at the end) or even WHY you would need new cables and new housing.

  • @joshrandal6982
    @joshrandal6982 2 роки тому +2

    All True 9 to 11 speed cassette tutorials are useless. Only one video I viewed had the cassettes and spacers and lock rings on a table to show you how to. Even that video was lacking.

    I have a 2003 Trek 5900 which I'm considering upgrading from Dura Ace 9 speed to the more current Shimano 10 or 11 speed groupset. The question I have is even when using an 11 speed hub, do you know if the rear stays are wide enough to accommodate the upgrade? I'm almost certain the ten speed conversion will work. New bike to me. Frankly, any thoughts where to locate compatibility information is appreciated. Thanks for a great video!

  • @alesstysanchez1614

    Sounds expensive, One video I saw from a bike shop owner/tech said you’d be better off buying the bike new instead of upgrading an entry-level bike. You keep your entry level as a back up and get all the upgraded parts on a new bike by paying about the same or less, don’t shoot the messenger I’m just relaying what I heard from another pro

    • @reoencarcelado5904
      @reoencarcelado5904 7 місяців тому

      @alesstysanchez1614:
      It depends on alot of things, including but-not-limited-to the retail price of the components, the retail price of the other bicycle, whether-or-not the other bicycle is available in the frame-size you-want/need/are-looking-for., etc etc.
      Part of the problem I have is that the damn bicycle stores keep bringing bikes for midget-sized people, and forcing tall & very-tall & extremely-tall people to scrunch-up to fit the bike, instead-of the bike fitting THEM. when you go buy a pair of pants, you don’t go buy a pair that is too-small_or_too-tight for you, and then take it to a tailor to get it adjusted/modified. You buy [to begin with] your correct pants-size. Same thing with a bike.
      If you buy a frame-size that is too-small, you can get pains on the nape of your neck, your shoulder-joints, your elbows, your shoulder-blades, etcetera.

    I don’t understand why people need to go to a bike shop to make such simple changes to their bicycle, do it yourself, save money and learn how your bike works, so if it develops a problem on a ride you’ll be able to fix it.
