- Learn how to make Chinese restaurant style lo mein right at home! This requires only a few ingredients and you can customize it using whatever veggies you wish. And you don't need to limit it to just veggies, you can add whatever meat you want as well (using beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, etc).
What you'll need:
8 oz. (1/2 pound) pasta or lo mein noodles
cabbage, celery, carrot, onion, ginger and/or vegetables of your choice (snow peas, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, broccoli, green onion/scallion, napa cabbage, bok choy, etc)
about 1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
1 recipe of sauce
For the sauce:
4 tsp lite (reduced sodium) soy sauce
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp oyster sauce
1 Tbsp white wine (or rice wine or cooking wine)
1/2 tsp mushroom flavored dark soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil

I use coleslaw mix in most everything Asian saves time and prep 🙋

Out of all the cooking channels on UA-cam you sir are by far my favorite and the only one I'm subscribed to.
Debra Bartlett what about chef John?
Just found this one and like it. I like chef John too and a few others. It's nice to see the different styles they have including people cooking at home in their own 'regular' kitchens lol. Some are very homemade videos :) but the homemade food is wonderful. :)

Chinese food is my favorite food, and my few previous attempts to make it at home were all epic fails. But not anymore! I made this lo mein tonight. Even without the wine or oyster sauce, this was SO good. I can't wait to make it with all of the ingredients. THANK YOU. I also made your fried rice and it came out beautifully.

Great video & very understandable directions. I’m going to try cooking this soon. Thank you!
great job, that looks super and you preparation demonstration was very clear. Thank you!
I used your recipe and it turned out fantastic! I did however make one small alteration. I used Stevia instead of sugar and added water in place of the wine. It was great! Rinsing the noodles in cold water really makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm definitely going to give this a try.... thank you for sharing it with us.

Awesome! I love Lo Mein!
Thank you for making video
Super easy recipe. Keep up the good work......😄😄😄
I love your videos and voice. So professional
Looks great! Love your videos!
Yum!!!! Veggie lo mein!!! Can you use bok choy instead of the white cabbage too? Can you find all the ingredients for the sauce in a supermarket? ((think it would be in the speciality foods?? Or authentic foods??)) Because theirs literally NO Asian markets where I live. This look REALLY easy to make!!! My daughter has a gluten allergy so I have to be SUPER careful as to what foods/sauces to use. Just have to tweak it a bit. I'm wondering, if you could do a version of this strictly for people that have a gluten allergy? Because this is ONE dish she truly missed!! I know they make spaghetti noodles gluten free. Welcome back!!!
Thank you 😊
Thank you!
I’m making this tonight! I already made your potato salad last week! 💛
Thank you! Definitely helped me out 😁 oh and I sub the wine out for run and it still worked out lol
Yummy!!!!
do you just leave the ginger in the freezer and pull it out whenever needed? how long does it last that way? thanks.. looks good
Thank you 😍😍😍 GOD BLESS U
Made it with spaghetti...I would have preferred a lo mein but the sauce was amazing!! Better than any restaurants I've tasted. Husband loved it as well!
I just subbed and hit the bell! Omg thank you! I love this!!!!!! Thank you! XO
Looks really good, and I order it quite often. It would be nice to make it at home though. Surprised there is no garlic in it.
Yay your back!!!!! ❤️
Hi, can you add scrambles egg to your recipe and if yes, when would you put it in?
Well it’s called chow mein here in Nepal😍❤️🇳🇵
Precooked milk noodle, is how its labled. In canada
Thank you for teaching me how to make lo mein. The fresh ginger makes all the difference. This is the first time I've ever used it. You really inspired me to try something new!
I add green chilli sauce and red chilli sauce instead as well, tastes nice. Also mushrooms :D
