I've ordered veg lo mein twice from two different restaurants... They were DRY!.... That's when I said to myself, "Self, we're gonna make our own lo mein & it's going to be stupendous!".... I watched Jet's version. I'll try this recipe though 😋 thank you girl!

We tried it last night and loved it! We were a bit worried because we don't have a high-end wok and often we end up with "too much juice" but we had no problems last night. The snap peas work really well and are delicious! Can really recommend this recipe.

I have added peanut butter to chilli (cowboy chilli, lol) and I love how it thickens the sauce and gives another layer of flavor to the beans. But now I'm out of peanut butter! Can I skip the peanut butter or should I replace it with something else? What's a good substitute?!?

I agree with Dawid Giemza! This youtube was excellently prepared with superb camera work! And, she took the time to include her recipe with the quantities of ingredients! A great help to me. I was able to copy the recipe which allowed me to prepare a shopping list, do the necessary shopping for the ingredients that she included and then follow her, step by step, as she prepared this meal. This was excellent entertainment! I am happy to subscribe! BTW, you do not have to make this in a wok! A hefty cast iron skillet will also work, but the meal will not taste as great! LOL! Per Dawid's remarks, Thanks, Mandy!

Salted, roasted peanuts in various dishes. I love sesame oil alot also a mix of white pepper, garlic powder, black pepper in beef and beef dishes
Green bells give good flavor to beef. I've been learning many good tips and recipes from you & other oriental chefs
Diced and fine sliced veggies etc tend to give a good flavor pop to recipes too
I've wanted to cook pasta or rice also in chicken or beef broth for extra flavor I like noodles esp rich tasting and add extra soy and worcestershire sauce
Also wanna try using king oyster that taste alot like oysters) mushrooms and various oriental veggies and sauces
Some of fave oriental dishes are spring rolls, egg drop soup, hot sesame BBQ pork with hot mustard, tempura prawns, beef stuffed rolls, wasabi & soy dishes, ramens, crab wangoons, custard chicken bites

I love that she slices the chicken super thin, this is EXTREMELY important. If you do not have as sharp a knife as she does, you can cut your chicken into pieces, and then sandwich between two layers of cooking film (saran wrap / plastic wrap) and pound it thin with a tenderizing mallet. One thing I've noticed from watching the cooks at the local Chinese restaurants, and something that I've learned from my time working in many restaurants, if you can pound the chicken super thin, the chicken cooks MUCH faster. This is good for *2 reasons* ... First, obviously, you save time, but second and more important, the shorter the cooking time the more velvety and soft your chicken stays. If you don't pound the chicken, or at least slice very thinly like our host did, then it can get rubbery from cooking too long on high heat. Just my two bits. Chicken needs to be cooked through, but only just so,... try to never over-cook chicken. BTW, very nice recipe and finished product looks very nice!
P.S. While her sauce is very authentic, if you find it's too strong for your taste, you can exclude the Hoisin sauce and peanut butter for a more "Chinese-American" restaurant taste. But I personally will leave them in to try it a new way. Sounds good.

I use this recipe with just mushrooms and broccoli it is so simple and tastey just make sure you don't over cook the chicken as it cooks fast in the wok, take out the chicken 95 percent done let it rest and the chicken will be the most tender peice fo chick you ever eat, you have keep checking the chicken, One reason why they usually over cook chicken at restaurents is they cant watch it all the time, Also for an even more tasty meal, batter the chicken and flower it, deep fry the chicken omg so good haha. she does the best videos.

@@melviasheppard8466 my problem is that when I first wake up I can never eat right away, I will literally get sick. The feeling wears of after about an hour or two and that is when I will make myself some oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, toast with peanut butter, or just a bowl of cereal.

Not only does she seem like a great cook, the recipes are easy and she tells you exactly what ingredients she is using. Where some other videos do not. So what good is that? Only thing about asian cooking is that they hardly use any chicken or meat. I need to have a lot more in my cooking of these recipes 😋😋

Baking soda changes the Ph balance in the meat allowing it to retain the juices or marinade in it as it cooks. Also by changing the Ph balance the meat will brown quicker also allowing the meat to retain more moister.

As with T a month ago I tried this tonight and feel you should include a caveat alerting people to the fact that regardless of the amount made you will eat it all, it is so good that if there is more to eat you will and damn the pain. To cut a long story short this is an awesome, quick recipe that will satisfy you all night. the trick with the peanut butter really works well. Thank you so much for sharing.

I live alone and carry my lunch in an electrically heated lunchbox at least several times a week, so preparing food ahead saves time and saves cost. For flexibility through the week, I often make the chicken and noodles with about three quarters of the sauce separately, adding a small drizzle of toasted sesame oil and tossing in the fully cooked chow mein, which keeps the noodles from becoming gummy and sticking together as well as adding a toasty flavor. During the week, I chow extra mixed vegetables and chilis along with my dinner vegetables, adding the sauce at the end of the chowing and add extra to my chow mein for the next day. The variety makes one dish for four into a dinner and three lunches without eating the same thing day after day without adding a lot of extra work and keeping the fresh tastes. Happy eating!

I made this tonight and it was delicious. The kids loved it. I prefer a little more bite to the sauce and wondering if a tbsp of vinegar or some red chilles would deliver that taste? Maybe that’s getting a bit away from Lo Mein not sure. I used udon noodles very hearty and they work incredibly well with this dish. Thank you Mandy for sharing your tips. Bought your WoK and love it!
