Except in Honor mode, Bloodlust elixir is more useful. The extra +2 damage and +2 to hit that Cloud Giant strength gives you isn't really as useful as an extra action each turn, more or less. I had a knowledge-seeking character that did all sorts of curiosity-killed-the-cat stuff lol. He pushed all the buttons on the nautiloid, took the hag's deal, had another party member get their eye removed by Volo (the game wouldn't let him remove his other eye because he'd already lost one to Ethel ☹️), and took the spider matriarch route into the Underdark (had to be followed down and revived lol). So of course he drank all the potions! When he went hostile in camp from insanity's kiss, everyone killed him and it was hilarious! Even better, he let Astarion kill him by feeding the next long rest, so I wasn't even dealing with the -1 strength from broken promises very long 😂
I still haven't used these yet, but I THINK you can also remove curse to get the - 1 off. I'm not sure if you'd have to remove curse before or after sleeping, or if it doesn't matter.
