I am slightly surprised the late Patrick Swayze was not mentioned. Also no John Travolta or Channing Tatum. The wonderful Sophia Loren should also get a mention, she can act, sing and dance beautifully.

None of these men are "surprisingly" good dancers, per the title of the video. They are well known.
I just finished watching the American Dance awards from 1994. They featured Patrick Swatche dancing with his wife Lisa Neime. Talk about wonderful dancing. They first met each other when Lisa was 14 at his mom's dance studio and got married when she was 19. They have been dancing together for a very long time and it shows.

Would have loved to see Hugh Jackman in here. He was named the Best Dancer on Broadway, though he isn't primarily a dancer, and in fact I was sure he'd be on the list. Sorry you missed him!

You failed to mention that Alfonso Ribeiro was trained in dance. He played "The Tap Dance Kid" on Broadway and even danced in a Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial as a child.

Richard Gere has a movie called "Shall We Dance?" where he takes dance lessons with Jennifer Lopez. The movie is really nice. I remember going to the cinema with my mom and we came home and start dancing in the garage.

You forgot Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Jerry Orbach, Hugh Jackman, the entire cast of "Chicago" (Gere, Zellweger, Zeta Jones).
Charles Durning (ballroom), Robert Duvall (tango), and Steve Martin (tap) were/are also gifted dancers. And Frank Sinatra did an excellent job tap dancing with Gene Kelly.
Those 3 men being dancers surprised me. Thank you!
I have seen videos of Steve Martin playing banjo. The tap dancing surprised me.
Charles Durning was an actor with an amazing repertoire of skills. Comedy, drama, etc. He was in NCIS, as a WWII veteran. It was so powerful of an episode I just had to buy it off Amazon.
Robert Duvall was in alot of movies. The one that I watch when needing a lift is “Secondhand Lions”. He had serious moves in the fight scene against 4(?) 20-something boys. It should have not been surprising to be told he was a dancer.
You might want to look at videos of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. He was a perfectionist and they would do 42 takes before he was satisfied. There was also no cutting. Every dance was done in one take. Amazing! And you also might look at some of the black dancers in the movie cotton club. The Nicholas Brother and others will astound you! Tap with Greg Hines will knock your socks off when you see these older dancers. Enjoy!
Actors and actresses in the ‘old days’ used to be required to be able to sing, dance, act, and usually play some kind of musical instrument. They were marketed on more than one skill.
Always a pleasure to see Christopher Walken in that "Weapon of Choice" video. I still remember when I first saw it - the part where he rings for the elevator - and I was like "What on earth did I just watch?" (in a good way).
Amy Adams proved she could dance as far back as 'Enchanted'! The So Close scene is such a stunning dance!

Salma Hayek was definitely a 'wow' surprise for me, but my real surprise was not seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones who should also be on that top list. Her perfomance in Chicago and her moves on Entrapment top it all as unbeatable. Bruce Willis on Friends when he dances in front of a mirror (watched only by the character Ross who hides under the bed) is a memorable scene too! :)

List was about surprisingly good dancers. Jackman's skills are well documented, and they aren't a surprise to anyone at this point. Granted, there were a few others like him, who have always been known for their dancing, throughout their careers.

Does NO ONE remember Alphonso Ribiero as a little boy, damcing a la MJ in the Pepsi commercial? We knew he could dance way before we ever saw him acting.
Alfonso starred in a show on Broadway called The Tap Dance Kid. That's how he ended up in the Pepsi commercial and then Silver Spoons.
Just looked that one up - great flashback!
One of the best things about the movie Mr. Right was the way Sam Rockwell employed dancing in his role as an assassin. Terrific role.

First time I saw Christopher Walken dance was on a TV special "Night of 100 Stars." I was floored.
I like this list, and am particularly pleased that it includes Christopher Walken, a professional-caliber tap dancer. One unforgivable omission is Neve Campbell, who was offered a position with the Joffrey Ballet after filming The Company. That offer acknowledges her commitment to hundreds of hours of extremely hard work, and must be applauded.
A personal Honorable Mention: Christina Applegate, whose unchoreographed frivolity runs with the credits of both View From the Top and The Sweetest Thing. The girl has great rhythm, and an extremely mobile torso.
I went to the same ballet school as Neve Campbell as a kid, but she's a few years older and was at a much higher level. My mom still has the recital program with her name in it.
Grace Kelly, was a dancer too.
I remember reading somewhere that if Christopher Walken had been born a few years earlier, he would have been right up ther with Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and all the other singing/dancing movie stars from that era.

The late great Alan Rickman had a pretty smooth tango number in the official music video for Texas' "In Demand". He at least deserved an honorable mention!

It’s time Ryan Gosling, Tom Hiddleston, or another of these fearless dancers remade the Fred Astaire movies. I named those two bc they are tall like Astaire. I could watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sam Rockwell, & Tom Holland dance every day for the rest of my life & not be bored.
Fred Astaire wasn't particularly tall, approx 5 .9-though I will give you that generally dancers are on the small side , (GENERALLY)
That clip of Tom Holland on the Lip Sync battle was AMAZING! I myself was trained as a classical ballet dancer, flamenco as well as many other genres and love to see good dancing.

I was wondering when you were going to include Tom Hiddleston. I feel great about him being at the top because he is a classically trained actor who has done Shakespeare, so that's got to be a quadruple threat.

Without Channing Tatum on this list it is unrealistic. He is an eclectic dancer who excels at many different styles.

dancing is really helpful in acting, singing too, it teaches you how to be coordinated and makes you be more in touch with your body and the movements you make in front of the camera, so i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of actors took dancing lessons as well
Plus, you need rhythm to dance well and Rhythm helps everything, including timing.
My dream as a child was to be a performer. Growing up in NJ in the shadow of Broadway fed this. I took years of dance in various genres, acting, singing and musical instruments. I even took modeling lessons just to learn how to present myself better.
Alfonso was the lead on Broadway in “The Tap Dance Kid.” He was a great child dancer and performer he began acting on television.

It is my impression that many actors started off on Broadway so singing and dancing makes sense.

You forgot Dule' Hill (West Wing and Psych) he is an award-winning (really) tap dancer. Also Neil Patrick Harris (Fraser, others), he performs on Broadway and is a fine pianist also.

former male stripper and breakdancer. had to do intensive study to pull off his tap/dance routine in hail caesar, which he did superbly.
Umm they said people you would not expect to be good dancers. Everyone knows Channing Tatum is an amazing dancer. He was the lead in Step-up and Magic Mike it's quite well known.

I don't even know why he's on this list. His Wikipedia page lists him as a dancer and his first gig was a lead in a Broadway musical called The Tap Dance Kid. Why wouldn't he be able to dance?

He was on Broadway for years as "The Tap Dance Kid" he was also in a show as a pre teen I think with Jusin Bateman where he did some dancing too.
Why is Alfonso Ribeiro such a surprise? He was the original "Tap Dance Kid" on Broadway in 1983. Terrible that Daniel Radcliffe and Uma Thurman didn't make the cut. They are superb dancers.
I think the goal was to name drop people you wouldn’t think of when you’re naming actors that can dance as well. Uma’s most iconic scene is a dance with John Travolta in Pulp Fiction so it’s not like people don’t know she can dance. And Daniel has been a visible Broadway star recently, even performing at the Tony’s so people are aware he can as well (BRILLIANTLY I might add). Most of the people here started in musical theater but most fans wouldn’t know that off the top of their head since they are doing non musical roles now for the most part. Alfonso is just on here cause people don’t give him the recognition he deserves though. The man played a younger version of Michael Jackson in a Pepsi commercial for crying out loud, he is a legend in my book.
