The lack of Michelle Pfeiffer on this list is unforgivable. Not only did she do all of her own singing as Susie Diamond in The Fabulous Baker Boys (one of the greatest acting performances of the 1980s/90s), but she was also offered a professional recording contract, which she turned down. Her rendition of "Makin Whoopee" in the film is one of the most famous movie scenes of all time. She's also sung in Grease 2, The Prince of Egypt, and Hairspray, and recorded a song for Murder on the Orient Express at Kenneth Branagh's insistence.

Jack Black is my favorite of all! Very versatile. He can sing almost anything (pop, jazz, rock, R n B) and has a great opera voice!!! Kudos to this man with a thousand voices. And please don't forget Hugh Jackman, he is also a phenomenal singer!❤
Right but it says “surprisingly good” and he is widely known as a singer. As it is I wish this list weren’t filled with people who have starred in major movie musicals. Surprise, (most) people in Les Mis can sing! I somehow got here when I saw how good Hannah Waddington was, but she’s not on the list. Generally highly trained actors also do a lot of voice training.

Probably because Mandy Patinkin was already well-known as a singer on stage before he became famous as a film actor. The fact that he could sing in films wasn't exactly a surprise to audiences, as it was with most of the other actors on here.

I mentioned Nicole Kidman too in another comment. Her Moulin Rouge costar Ewan McGregor can also sing and has done so in a few movies. Completely forgot JGL, he has a nice voice and his face lights up when he sings but I feel like it lacks some power. Ludacris was fist a rapper who then started acting though only recently has he become a "good" actor, those first Law & Order episodes with him were painful to watch. There is also Alan Thicke who is good but how on Earth could they forget to mention the talents of Henry Connick Jr, the dude is a classy act and sings like a superstar. It would have been good if they had defined the criteria since in Hollywood and especially in theater, a lot of actors sing and dance. Oh there is also J-Lo though IMO she isn't very good at singing, acting or dancing.
Tom Hiddleston singing in Norwegian was something I didn't know I needed.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard Zachary Levi singing when I saw Tangled in theaters. His voice was so gorgeous. I’ll also never forget the first time I heard Jeremy Jordan singing in Tangled: the Series and I lost my darn mind. Obviously he’s a Broadway boy first but I was a little late to that hype train and discovered him the same way I discovered Zachary. Through the magic of Tangled songs
I saw him in She Loves Me and I thought his singing was better than his acting, TBH.
Zachary's voice literally made me liked more the song in tangled I See the Light. So calm and naturally beautiful!!!

Luke Evans and Jessie Buckley sang beautifully in the 2022 Netflix animated movie Scrooge. I had the song Later Never Comes stuck in my head for weeks! I already knew Luke could sing, from his role as Gaston in Beauty & the Beast, but he really blew me away with this one 🥰

The one guy everyone leaves off is Micheal McKean. He played Lenny on LaVerne and Shirley. He and David Landers performed as Lenny and the Squigtone. McKean also was a member of the spoof group Spinal Tap.

One of my favorite movies as a teenager was reality bites and it became one of the many films that made me fall in love with movies. In his role, Ethan Hawke is the lead singer in a band and even has a song on the soundtrack called I'm nothin'. He isn't the best technical singer, but he definatly has talent!

After watching Tick, Tick, BOOM!, I would say Mr. Andrew Garfield, who learned to play the piano and had singing lessons to make this film, is amazing! And after listening/watching him, you might think acting could be his second calling after music.

Kelsey Gramer, Jason Alexander, F. Murray Abraham, Jane Kregowski, all have incredible voices. They all started in musical theater. Another actor with an incredible voice Mel Gibson. He sang as John Smith in Pocahontas.

Zachary Levi was one of the biggest shocks. When I was growing up, my parents loved watching "Chuck." Just recently, I have fallen in love with the show as well. I mostly grew up hearing the voice of Zach playing Flynn Rider in "Tangled" (I was born in '03, so I can still say I grew up on "Tangled" haha). Anyway, my whole family has always known that Zach voiced Flynn Rider, but it's still hard for my dad to believe that he sings for him, too. He's got such a beautiful voice.🥹🧡

Hugh Jackman was my favorite he was Wolverine in the X-man series but he really really got a taste of his singing chomps in as Curley in Oklahoma, Jean ValJean in Les Miserable, and P.T Barnum in The Greatest Showman, and he was the boy from oz in The Boy From Oz. Hugh Jackman can basically do everything
But Jackman is involved heavily in musical theatre. He is more of a song and dance man than he is an actor.

Why in the world didn’t Amanda Seyfried make the list. She is one of the genuinely great singers in Hollywood. She played Cosette in Les Miz which is an impressive feat as the role requires singing in soprano constantly. Also her work in Mama Mia was superb. Her renditions of ABBA’s classic songs Lay All Your Love On me and I have a dream we’re exceptional!

Along with Catherine O'Hara... Eugene Levy in that same "mighty wind" movie... The two, complement each other so well on that soundtrack. Listen to "One More Time"... The song was played in the soft background of the movie, but was the most beautiful song on the album.
Beverly D’Angelo was a professional singer before she was an actor and has quite a voice. Sissy Spacek failed to break into singing before becoming an actor, but did her own singing as Loretta Lynn in Coal Miner's Daughter. I believe she is not well accepted in Country music because she doesn't sing 'rough enough'. Check out her CD Hangin' Up My Heart.
The most surprising voice I ever heard came from John C. Reilly in Chicago. I have enjoyed his appearances in movies before but never knew he could sing so well.
He is truly amazing, a very underrated actor (and singer as well).

I'm so glad that Jensen Ackles made the list! Jensen really surprised me, because there are a few scenes in "Supernatural," that led me to believe that he couldn't carry a tune. It wasn't until I watched a convention video that I found out that man can SING! He's one of my favorite singers.
Christian Kane (who sang with Jensen in an episode of "Supernatural") is also another one who surprised me. The moment that I'm referring to is when he sang in an episode of "Angel."
Why didn't Val Kilmer do the singing in "The Prince of Egypt," though?

LivanaFaolan: Christian Kane did a GREAT job singing in an episode of Leverage. The episode was about a female country singer who didn't get credit or recognition for a song she wrote. I was impressed!

He has released an album of his movie "top secret" under the name nick rivers (character name) and has sang live in the doors movie himself.. Val Kilmer KILLED IT, portraying Jim Morrison. Esophageal cancer is hellish. Throat cancers of every variety are a nightmare for we who work within the music/theatre/film industry. My heart goes out to Kilmer.

Surprised to hear about Val Kilmer. I didn’t know he had throat cancer. It seems like a lot of British actor’s love country music and most that I see in movies really nail that southern accent. Really liked Jeremy Renner’s voice and music.
If you are a fan of Val Kilmer, you should really watch his bio-documentary Val. It’s a very powerful and moving autobiography on film.

As I was watching the beginning of this video, I was thinking they should have Christian Kane (most known for Leverage) on this list. Then they showed a clip of Jensen Ackles singing with...you guessed it...Christian Kane! Though he did't make the list, he was still in the video. LOL. My sister lived close to Portland, OR when they were shooting Leverage there. She said that Christian could be found singing in local clubs from time to time. They also featured his voice in one of the Leverage episodes. I'm sure he didn't make this list because he is not as well known as the other actors, but he easily fits the category! His voice is wonderful.
If you never watched Angel you should look up clips of Christian Kane singing. He’s incredible!

The fact that Matt Bomer is missing from the list is an absolute travesty. His rendition of Heaven in Magic MikeXXL was indeed magic and he also danced as he sang How does it feel in the movie, another fantastic rendition. He also sang Like the Wolf as he danced with Darren Criss in Glee and another glorious song was People Like Us. How could you possibly how missed this multi-talented actor and singer from the list is beyond belief.
