Best Audio for Fishing YouTuber (it's not GoPro)

- Hey Y’all, Brandon Hewitt here with BRandom fishing and I have a good one for you today. My beautiful wife got me the best christmas present. A Sony ICD-UX570 Audio Recorder for my channel. This thing is awesome, easy to use, and records beautiful audio.
I compare it to the GoPro 8, Nikon D3300, Olympus VN-541PC, and an IPhone 11 Pro. The Lav Mic I have is a Giant Squid and is the best one I have found for the money. I also catch my first fish of 2022!

I really like the audio of that Sony, especially how it eliminates wind noise, I will definitely look into it.
I am glad, I used the old version for over a year and I really liked it. My favorite part of having external audio is that I can dunk my GoPro under the water to capture something and I don't have to worry about the water in the mic to drain before it sounds good again. I love capturing underwater releases.

Thanks for watching and I’m glad I could help. The key is a lab mic with the dead cat. My friend Joshua B fishing runs his through the go pro attached to his hat and it sounds good as well. He just can’t get his wet with the open port because of his mic.

I recently had a hard time syncing my new studio mic let alone the 4 you did for the video. But the Sony external recorder has so many uses with the fishing amongst other ideas that I may have to pick one up. Great video.
HAHA, yes this video was a little long to make. I do have audio drift after an hour or so of about 2 frames but i just use the rate stretch tool in premier to fix that. I actually use the crappy Olympus one to record work meetings in case I need to revisit topics mentioned. Thanks for the kind words.
I just lav mic (and wind muff) straight into my gopro on my hat. GoPro sells a door that is "water resistant" to allow the adapter to be plugged in, but not submersible. I just pay for the gopro insurance for cheap replacement (water damage is covered, among other things). The discounts that come with the insurance make it worth it anyway. But if I just wanted an audio clip, away from my PC, I run into the file size issue you speak of. Pure audio recorder definitely worth the investment.
I have seen your setup on your hat and it looks really good and your audio is TOP NOTCH! You are the reason I remembered to mention the gopro adapter, haha. I remember hearing from someone on youtube that they were having issues with it cutting out randomly for a split second and it ruined a fishing trip so I never even tried it. That plus the water proof thing, i like being able to dunk my go pro under for some sweet underwater shots that i can start doing again. What lav mic do you use? Mine is a Giant Squid listed in the comments.

I could use the second gopro for underwater shot, but I'm too lazy for that. :D And yeah, you have to be careful or you could end up with no Audio. My trick is on my action hat, I use voice commands. If the mic isn't plugged in good, it wont receive the voice command and I know something is wrong. If the voice is accepted, then it will always have audio.

I'm glad, and if you do let me know. There are a couple of tricks that I have learned in premier pro that could help ya out. A good Lav mic and dead cat are very important as well. I didn't mention that in the video much but it is about another $40.
Man that is an awesome video. I really like how you demonstrated with all three audio to show the difference. That was the important proof right there was the audio between the three. The proof is showing the truth. I'm sorry to hear how you ruin your other one when you fell in the water. Did you lose your brown pair of reef flip-flops when you fell in the water cuz I see you have a new pair of black Reef flip flops on. I love Reef man I wear the same pair the mick Fanning. Reef are the only flip flops that are made in big sz15 for me. When you was fishing I like how clear it was to hear you. You know another thing you could do to protect it from water is go to Walmart and get one of those waterproof phone cases & then put it in that one leader dry bag for Extra Protection. I know it might be a lot to be digging out but for the money that you pay I rather dig out then to ruin another one. Good video buddy thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the tip, that might work "double wrapping" it. My old reefs broke. The thong came out of the left side. I ordered the black ones here on amazon because they were on super sale but they are the wrong ones. They are not the full leather ones. I will have to see how they do but i like them so far.
@@BRandomFishing you are welcome buddy. Oh man I'm sorry to hear about your old reefs broke on you. I know the feeling buddy I had my repair of reef break on me this summer why kayaking with my boys. My right side flop all of the straps came right out of the footbed of the sandal & the left side the strap between the toes came right out of the footbed of the sandals leaving me barefooted 👣style for the rest of the day & I had to take my kids to get something to eat and grocery shop and get school supplies. I was able to sneak into the fast-food restaurant get something to eat. I had to take my kids to Walmart to get school supplies and I was surprised that no one said anything to me in the store about me walking around barefooted 👣. Only a young dude walk down the row we was in & when he walked by very slowly staring down at my feet when he got over to the next row he yelled out very loud in the store ( those are some very wide feet & fat wide toes that are straight across while walking barefooted 👣 fat man ) I yelled back out thank you. My 3th son John said dad you know he's making fun of your feet being wide & your toes being very fat & wide & straight across ? I said I know son I don't want to stop something because I should not be in the store barefooted 👣. It bugs me a little bit because I can't help it that I'm a chubby fat dude & i have big very very extremely wide feet. Oh man that sucks that they sent you the wrong pair. But I'm glad you liking them so far they look cool man. I really like how they look on you. I just got a new pair of reefs for a Christmas present from my whole entire family. But I want to buy the new black leather flip-flops they have. I never had a pair of leather flip-flops before & I want to get a pair for friends & family gathering.

@@BRandomFishing oh okay the strap between the toes takes a while to break in. That's awesome to hear you like them. Are yours the black leather ones that you have? I was going to order mine today but trucking for me today was really rough between the shipper messing up the load , construction on the interstate , rush hour traffic , & getting paperwork done I just beat. I didn't even get to drive my full 13 hours before I decided to shut it down to be safe because I was so tired. I usually don't get tired like that. Imma try and see if I can order it do this week. Thank you so much for letting me know that buddy cuz like I said this would be the first time me ever owning a leather pair of flip-flops. Are they pretty comfortable to wear all day at work or are you allowed to wear them at work?
@@mackjenkins7721 my old ones were leather, the new ones are not. I’ve worn the old ones all day and once they were broke in, I barely noticed them on my feet at all.
