Yeah, this movie is fine but really weird, because both Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones weren't playing their respective characters, they were both just playing a variation of the Joker.

Ben Roley, right? 😅😂🤣😆
There should have been a creepier explanation for Jim's wackiness: As he extracts brainwaves, he also gets a lot of identities and personalities with them. Which means he's got a million and one different people living in his mind, and it's driving him nuts, but he can't stop.

They said Cable Guy was one of his darkest roles, but Chip didn't murder anybody like The Riddler did.

Small wonder he pulled off playing Dr. Robotnik in the two "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies.

And carrey was indeed brilliant!
Maybe Robin Williams
He would have made a great "mad hatter" just my thoughts
Alex Huerta youre right!!!
I would want to see that
I still think he would have been a better Joker. The more "animated" style of Joker from 90s, tends to me more about pranks, joking and kiling others. While Jim can do serious roles, I don't think that dark tones of Joker would work for him. He would just do too well capturing the Hamill style. I can see him doing Mad Hatter though. Considering his performance with Sonic, he still has it and I would love to see him again in some DC production, just not so much as the Riddler.

“The early stages of Dr. Eggman”!
yes
I feel like Jim Carrey’s portrayal as Robotnik early on in that movie before he gets the red suit is a better portrayal of the Riddler.
Jim Carrey's Eggman is basically The Riddler, with the personality of Ace Ventura.
And the Mask when he is in comic book.
If eggman said riddle me this everyone will scream to death
He must’ve lost some brain cells to insult the man that managed to tie him up to a chair and expect him to untie him...
He believed Nygma didn't have the balls to kill him.
Jim: “Where the script”
Director: “The what”
4:12 - Terminated? Come on, for the way he killed him, "let go" would have been so much more comical.
David Meyer Its not about being comical, its called reality
It's meant to reference how his boss had tried to "terminate" his project, so Nygma terminated him instead. Personally, I do agree that "let go" would have been way funnier, but using the word "terminated" also is meant to be humorous.
@@positiveimprintshq4213 Except maybe for A Time to Kill, nothing about a Schumacher film in any way is realistic. There's a reason people think of Kilmer and Clooney Batman as more like cartoons than the actual cartoon, Batman: The Animated Series.
Theodore Boronkay Yeah I can understand your view point. But this movie including this specific scene is extremely symbolic & the fact he did say 'terminated' says a lot!
@@positiveimprintshq4213 If the studio had allowed Schumacher to include the deleted content instead of making it "kid-friendly" perhaps the deeper symbolism of the movie (such as Batman/Bruce Wayne's orTwo-Face/Harvey Dent's duality, or how Bruce Wayne's motivation to becoming Batman evolves from the guilt for "causing" his parent's death, to, after discovering he was't responsible, choosing to let Batman stay a part of himself in order to protect Gotham, rather than simply absolve himself), wouldn't have been overshadowed by the less fondly-remembered aspects of his directing. Also, what does this scene say about the development of Riddle/Nygma from a helpless "nobody" to a murderous psychopath, since you only say that "the fact that he did say 'terminated' says a lot?"
Love how Edward yells "HANG ON" like he's going to help him and Fred has that relief wash over his face like he's gonna get help but Nygma throws in a pun and lets him go
That's cause Nygma was yelling hang on to his invention and not Fred.....still hilarious tho
If Fred really thought that Nygma was gonna save his life after all the verbal abuse he’s thrown at him, he’s even dumber than Riddler thinks he is.

Jim Carrey managed to capture the original essence of the Riddlers goofy mannerisms from the Adam West era while giving us a modern dark villian! Might be the best Batman villian on screen as he reaches back and forward at the same time!
Youre joking.
Facts
Not wrong there. Right next to Nicholson for sure
Look I love this movie as well (in a sort of ironic way), but the BEST BATMAN VILLAIN ON SCREEN is CRAZY TALK. We have Heath Ledger's Joker, Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face, Tom Hardy's Bane, Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow, Danny DeVito's Penguin, Jack Nicholson's Joker, SO many quality-ass performances. And THIS is the best? Even Paul Dano's new Riddler beat out this one
Jim Carrey's a great actor, but even for HIM, this was WAAAAY too over-the-top to actually take seriously
Fun fact: Fred Stickley's actor, Ed Begley Jr. actually appeared on Batman: The Animated Series as the voice of Charles Michael "Charlie" Collins in the episode "Joker's Favor". He was actually one of the few people besides Batman who actually scared The Joker.

Jim Carrey becoming Riddler: Creates a million dollar idea that straight up tortures people, tortures his boss, kills him in spectacular fashion, covers it up with 1995 era CGI, sends riddles to Bruce Wayne to taunt him, teams up with the biggest and goofiest supervillain of the day, and gets rich off of a thing called the "Box".

The song Jim Carrey sings: "I'm sucking up your IQ, vacuuming your cortex, feeding off your brain" is actually a parody of the song "Top Hat, White Tie and Tails" from the movie Top Hat (1937) sung by Fred Astaire.
