However if at the start of the game you entered your name as James T Kirk you could actually hail the Klingons, who recognize Captain Kirk as a legendary warrior of great renown, and they stand down, allowing you to rescue the Maru.
I applied and was denied due to the fact I was genetically altered by my parents to increase my intelligence, my holographic friend downloaded the combined knowledge of every former starfleet officer to increase his intelligence and starts his training today.
And what advantages would I have from enlisting? Little to no career advancement. Being sent on away missions with trouble-magnets (aka "Red Shirts) and basically looked down on by the rest of the crew. NO THANKS

They were reunited in 2378.
There were a couple of X-Men/Star Trek crossover comics, and the Federation's policy toward the "genetically enhanced"/"superhuman" came up when the X-Men put Kirk (in one) and Picard (in the other) on the spot about it. Picard, having defended Data and dealt with Q wanting to be a Star Fleet officer had a better leg to stand on than Kirk, who'd basically made a Greek God so depressed he killed himself and killed his best friend after he was exposed to energies that unlocked his latent psychic powers. There were also a couple of priceless moments: Someone says "Doctor McCoy!" and both Dr. Leonard McCoy, M.D. and Beast, a.k.a. Dr. Henry McCoy, Ph.D. (times 6) say "Yes?" at the same time, and in the other crossover, both Commander Riker and Cyclops (Scott Summers) comment on how much Captain Picard and Professor Charles Xavier resemble each other (Sir Patrick Stewart, of course, played Professor X in several movies, as well as playing Captain Picard).
I'm pretty sure that X-Men mutants would be fine actually, since they weren't specifically engineered (the history is far enough ago to get the same treatment as vulcans are almost certainly getting where it's politely ignored)
@@keiyakins However, I think the Federation would have an issue with DC's metahumans. Unlike mutants (who are stable), with a metahuman when their metagene is triggered it can result in any type of superhuman abilities. That's one of the reasons several alien races decided to invade Earth, they were afraid of unpredictability of the metagene.
