Made in China using Japanese parts apparently... but we all know China invented steel and glass and you can't ague with that... It's a great watch, and it's one I have in my watch box for a month, then on my wrist for a week... I was looking at the original, but have decided that this new Arnie is something I will use more often, as getting parts for the original is harder than hunting a Predator in life LML :-P Cheer!
Cheers my friend... glad you found me again... and your feedback is part of why I had to come back... I just love to detail things :) Have a grand weekend :))
My all time favorite seiko watch! Had it in the 80s, and now that is back! I love it even more, way better and improved. Is definetly one of the best looking seiko's out there! And solar! What else could you ask for! Glad that seiko decided to reissue this time piece. 👌😎👍great review and tutorial!
Finally someone that sees beyond 'Made in China' as all those comments that moan it's made in China are using 'Made in China' devices to send their messages.... to me this is for tax reasons, as sending complete watches costs more than sending in parts... so basically the watch is made in Japan but assembled in China... if you have to send it back under warranty it has to go to Japan... and don't worry about the 7yr LCD... this is normal for all LCD's... we won't notice till at least 40yrs or more later. I was so close to getting the original, but parts are not easy, so was perfect timing from Arnie to release this again... cheers for the feedback my friend :))
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Actually, the movement is made in Malaysia. The Chinese factory techs are trained and supervised by Japanese Seiko techs. The word in Japan is they are going to move all production out of China and back to Japan with the METI paying a subsidy because of the virus.
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman As for the LCD, I bought a H558-500A Japan built Orange Arnie at the PX on base in Japan in 1986. Bought it to replace a Rolex I had destroyed (a story for another day) and at the time I didn't know that it was a "movie" watch. I did a 30 year military career wearing that watch in wars, in training, jumping and fast roping out of aircraft, jungles, desert, open ocean swimming/diving, Arctic and mountain operations. I still have it, and it still works as well as the day I bought it. The LCD is perfect. The backlight is dim, it was always dim, but it still works. The only thing I've done to it was change the battery every couple of years, of course replaced the strap with a real issue NATO strap, replaced the (finally cracked) plastic shroud with a metal after market assembly, popped the (now kinda worn) bezel for cleaning out grit, and "o" ring replacements. Tough watch. Great watch. The new kids are mostly sporting Casio throw-aways now, though. I'll be picking up this new version now and checking it out. My original owner manual had the same "7 year" stuff in it, and it's more of a "cover their butt" type of deal I figure.
John Puplic Hey buddy... When I was at Seiko Boutique London they did and didn’t want to say that it was Japan parts, but did say that it would be sent to Japan for any service needed... I was guessing my own reasons and Seiko Boutique London just smiled as if I was in the right direction... but have noticed a huge amount of CASIO watches having Malaysia on them with no issues... for me as long as it’s all functioning and built well then i’m not bothered as the price is good... what I’m not so keen on is when watch manufacturers don’t show the counter side of production and just stamp them ‘Swiss Made’ and with the 60/40% this is nearly half half... and then people go downtown upset that the new Arnie has ‘Made in China’ ... guess they’ve got brainwashed by so called watch gurus and forgotten that their $1200 iPhone is made also in China... now I did hear that the tiny torque screws on iPhones are Swiss Made... not sure if that’s past or present? Cheers for your message... I was going to remove the back off mine and have a little investigating, but decided that to be honest I actually don’t need to do that unless I need to replace the battery... i’ve not looked for a movement online, but should do as i’m sure someone else has done that.
John Puplic WOW... very impressive with yourself and your partner H558! I saw a mod with someone using a metal shroud on their original Arnie, but thought it was a part they made, or was that your posting? Your H558 has been lived more harsh conditions than all of Arnie’s movies, and incredible that it served 30yrs. Isn’t the orange dial more collectible? Now i’m wondering am I talking to the real John James, alias Rambo? Would you be interested to share a shot of that original 7yr LCD info from your H558 handbook and post separately on the community section... would be really nice to share what you’ve written here too... think for many fans of this watch, knowing how it has really lived through a 30yr military career shows just how tough it truly was, and not from a movie set. Thank you so much for sharing a personal part of your life... the ROLEX story sounds interesting and look forward to hearing that one day... very welcome to post this on the community section as then it has its own place. Cheers
I have had mine for a couple of days. So far, it is nearly my ideal in a tool watch. The pushers are a little counterintuitive. Bit I love the functions. This has now effectively replaced my G-Shock. I love having a chronograph with a 99 hour capacity!
Cheers for your comment... do I understand that you're not sure with the pushers, and if so is this to do with the screw down protectors? I just leave mine open, even when wet so they are always ready to push... only screw them down when really needed... it is a great watch, and you'll switch between this and the G-Shock sometime I'm sure... thanks again :))
Hey buddy... watched you latest video on the Rod 750 the other day, very insightful video :) You know we both have something to offer, and you have loads of knowledge too and I learn from you also... Damn, my friend has borrowed my Arnie and will do a review of it on his channel... I oddly miss it, which means it's a keeper... Looking forward to your side on it... cheers buddy :))
My Nike is from China, my Adidas is from China, and my new SEIKO watch also is from China, I ❤️ SEIKO watch, I'm have 12! Prospex collection it's amazing.
Now that's a good way of putting it, and you're right, even my Adidas are made in China, my smart Android phone, as long as it's made well it can be made anywhere :) I see you also like hanging your guitars on the wall like 'Rock the Watch' channel :) Have you the ProSpex SUN021or one of the other versions? this is my favourite SEIKO, and I have two of them, but one is very abused but still works perfectly, I did post a video changing the bezel inlay, but am a fan of SEIKO and always have them in my collection... cheers for sharing my friend :))

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman I believe you've just found the perfect balance between fun and serious tutorial. In addition, I have to say I ordered a G-shock Rangeman thanks to your interesting and accurate tests and tutorials.
Hello I just got mine seiko snj025 does anyone knows if the buttons are unscrewed can be use in a shower 🚿? By the way you have made a very nice video review thanks for all details 👍
What stands out to me is that the seconds hand hits every index spot on in every UA-cam video I have watched so far. Is this a coincidence or is the QC on this watch THAT good?
It looks like it's a massive diver when browsing through pictures, but with the lug to lug being quite short, makes it a lovely compact watch... I can see this becoming an early collectors piece... some are put of with 'Made in China' but that's from people who use smart phones from China which is most of them LML :-P Don't worry about the LCD display with that 7yrs, that's just SEIKO being honest, it's likely to outlive your eyesight :-P Please let us know if you do get it, and if you want a picture shared on the community page then email it to me, and you'll get a shout-out :)) Cheers :))
The alarm icon is like a speaker shown at the most upper left corner and the hourly signal and button tones is with the bell icon below at the most lowest left corner. Very small icons unless you have fresh young eyes, luckily for me I can see them without goggles :))
WatchUP69 Mr Rangeman lol yeah I guess I should’ve waited till I finished the full video before commenting. I noticed the 2 different symbols when you were turning it in and off. Man after watching this I really like this watch 🤦🏼♂️
@@bwallis100 I did two versions of this Arnie, and this is the unboxing version which I just go through things at a guess... I do like to figure things myself as far as possible, then grab the book for those few other details like calibration. it's a great watch... for me it's iconic form the movie, but also I like the dial, very SKX but with the digital side just adds more functions... very 80's looking with those buttons sticking out... it's not as big as you think, feels a perfect size with those short lugs :))
I'm ashamed to admit, I got the watch - love it - and wanted to find a cheat instead of reading the booklet haha- found it! Thank you very much. Like and subscribe :)
You should be ashamed, it has China on the back and you need to Pay for the LCD in a weeks time LML :-P Yeah, it's annoyingly good for something Made in iPhone land... and the LCD will last you till you're at least another 40yrs older... my SEIKO solar from 1978 still has the original battery and LCD and it works fine in 2020... my tutorial is full, and I can't believe none of the big watch channels cover the calibration and test screen??? Glad it helped and cheers for the feedback :))
Fresh print is just lovely, a new car isn't what I class as a good sniff, but anything plastic fresh in a package, damn this just lovely for my nostril hairs LML LML :-P Now, morning smells range, not sure what could be new in the morning as it smells of farts from Mrs Rangeman LML :-P
Hello my english mate )) Didn't know you got this amazing Arnie ! It is 47mm but it looks like it wears smaller than the Garmin fenix 6 for instance which has roughly the same size, isn't it? Regards from Strasbourg
Great video, thank you. I bought one of the original watches in about 1986 time, and loved it. I have just ordered the one you are reviewing, with a pepsi dial, and cant wait for it with all the memories of the 80s. Btw ,would be interesting to find out eventual service cost.
Great video and thanks for all the information. I do have one question, does anyone out there know if this watch is at all water resistant with the two function buttons unscrewed? I know that the crown has to be screwed down and the manual states that the function buttons need to be screwed down for 'diving' specifically. But if the buttons are unscrewed could you have a shower or a swim in pool? Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer to this?
Hey buddy... cheers for the feedback and sorry for the delay to reply, I didn't get a notification??? Let's look at it this way... if the crown is un-screwed, it could snag on some weed while swimming, pulling the crown and potentially damaging the crown stem, or worse, pulling the whole crown out, thus why screw down is always a nice addition. As for the pushers, there are many water proof watches that have pushers that don't have the screw down side, but pushing button's at depth isn't recommended unless it's designed for this... as for this Arnie, leaving the pushers un-screwed would still cover water resistance, I leave mine out all the time, as it's a pain to keep un-screwing them to use the backlight... if I was ever to take it snorkelling then I would make sure it's all screwed in, as I don't want to have buttons pressed anyway. Personally I won't be using my Arnie in the seas, as this is a very aggressive environment and a shame to bully the look of the watch... that's not saying it's ok, I have other sea watches that I prefer and don't mind them looking like a sea wreak... silicon/resin straps go very odd when used in the sea for a certain amount of time, and if not rinsed then the bezel can get very stuck :-P In the shower with the pushers is ok, as there isn't water pressure, and pressing buttons while wet is also ok, it's a Diver's 200m watch that has been tested :)) Hope that helps you my friend :))
Now that's one thing I'd rather have seen return back on the re-issue, it now just has the 24hr markers. The depth gauge is just for calculating and more upon when submersing timing the accent as that's very crucial in any dive.... I would've preferred to have the Solar and ProSpex not printed on the dial to be honest, keeping it less busy instead of advertising features that are already known... but hey, still a great watch :))
LML I did mock that, by saying it was for FREE LML :-P That's typical from SEIKO, they want to cover their backsides, but in reality, all LCD's deteriorate from go, but this is a very slow process, and I've got a few vintage SEIKO's from the 70's that are still looking great, so SEIKO are just being truthful, but really, it's all very normal, and you won't notice the change for at least 30+ years, and by then, your eyesight will be poop LML :-P

Hey buddy... it has to have lume to get Diver's certified... everyone of a Diver's watch has to be fully tested, these aren't batched tested and lume on the second had is part of the test, as this indicates the movement is functional... if that has no lume please share my friend, as this isn't good at all! Let me know... cheers buddy :)
WatchUP69 Mr Rangeman the Lume is on the counter balance part of the second hand, upon investigation this is done on a few seiko divers apparently to assist in the balance of the movement and to not confuse individuals underwater as the most important hand is the minute hand underwater as this is functional with the elapsed time bezel 🤙🏻
Hey buddy.... well I just show watches as they are, and you take what you need from that... the big question is what are you wanting? Looks? Diver's 200m Ani-digital? You want to be Arnie? You have too many arms? You like bezels turning? You have some tax credit? You don't have a SEIKO? You want to chase inflatable purple aliens?
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman I misasked my question. A French who speaks English bad. Sorry. I wanted to ask instead, would this watch please me in terms of functionality, robustness as I like the Rangeman?
@@steffrouen Hey buddy.... no problem. Now I've not treated this one with too much abuse and it hasn't seen the sea.... but in terms of how it's built it feels tough, but as always spring pins are the side to all things failing, but the SNJ does have some beef in that department. It's not going to be as tough as a G-Shock as it has now shock absorbing material outside... if you're wanting something like a G-Shock, then why not stick with a G-Shock?? Ani-Digital? I have no intention to flip my SNJ as it's a great all rounder... nice loud alarm, hourly chime is weak as it only beeps once. It's Diver's 200m rated so has been through the tests to reach that merit, so at least you have that side of confidence :) If you find a good deal, then yeah, and I feel this will become a future collectable... it is solar but doesn't have MB6, so will need adjusting every month if you want it accurate. The lume is good, not the strongest to be honest, but lume is usually over rated, but having the backlight on the LCD panel makes is useable in low lighting, but if running the stopwatch then you can't use the backlight as it'll stop/start the stopwatch :-P I'm not sure if you'll find it a little dull with regards to functions, as the GPR is packed full... I'm thinking the Gulfmaster GWN-Q1000... it's my first Master of G and still one of my favourite all rounders, but that's my opinion. I'm only saying that as you're thinking Rangeman, and anything that isn't a G-Shock isn't going to be as tough, they may come close, but you know what I mean... If you like it then give it a try, maybe look for a pre-loved one if you're going to abuse it? I hope that helps, but it's a choice you need to make finally :)

Hi there I have hear that the digital clock only last 7 years ...is this true? If the digital thing dus not work anymore NOTHING duss.. One says it last only 7 years and others says 14.. butt for a clock that cost 500 i think this is not what i aspect from SEIKO..and even the glass is not made of CRISTAL LIKE OTHER WATCHES FROM SEIKO
Hey buddy... well, I can't believe 'others' say 14yrs, where do they get their facts from, especially when 14yrs hasn't passed??? Now this 7yrs is the normality of LCD displays to deteriorate, but it's fractional and unlikely you'll notice, but in reality LCD displays are still working on many vintage watches that are from the 70's... I have a solar Seiko from 1978 that's still performing, so to me it's like SEIKO are being too honest... can you really see in 7yrs time a rush to have LCD's replaced, now that's not clever and a bad choice from SEIKO :-P With regards to mineral crystal, don't see this as a bad thing, mineral takes the shocks, and it hasn't effected the G-Shock sales, so think about that side, now, 500 is in what currency? There are also viewers not happy about the fact it's Made in China, and this is another side to why the big deal, when their message is sent from a device that's made also in China???? If you get the chance to see one in person, then take the opportunity to really soak up all it can offer... it's a solid watch, and SEIKO have done a great re-issue job... but if you want sapphire, then these aren't expensive to buy and not rocket science to fit... the LCD lasting 14yrs has made me laugh, why not 13yrs??? You have to choose with what feels right, and if it worries you with those few things mentioned, then don't force yourself to like it. Btw, cool feature on your crash helmet :))
That’s a decent question to ask.... it’s not like a Vostok, but does have a slight wiggle, nothing that worries me at all, and it’s expected anyway, as there’s probably a few O-rings in the shaft. I’ve showered with the crown unscrewed once by accident and I always leave my pushers unscrewed anyway, and nothing flooded... If I’m venturing into the sea then I’ll lock everything down, but for general day to day my pushers are always open. Hope that helps... are you thinking your stem is more wobbly than it should be?
WatchUP69 Mr Rangeman I was worried yes as I thought mine I just received may have been faulty. I am no longer worried now. After unscrewing to set the time for the first time I did notice slight wiggle in the crown. Thankyou for your reply
triperz Every crown I’ve used has a slight amount of play, it’s a thin stem that slides through a barrel with O-rings, so will be impossible to eliminate any wobble, it’s also a smart crown so isn’t moving gears. I’ve seen there’s a few newer models released that look quite interesting... but for me, I wanted the more back to the original Arnie look. I put mine on leather just to see, and made it look vintage, did post a video. But having drilled lugs was a smart move... in general I really do enjoy this piece, and with its look there’s no mistaking it’s an Arnie ;)
That’s just my humour my friend, it’s featured many times in my content... I basically like to mock myself, and swapping ‘fee’ with ‘free’ is funny as I’m dyslexic... welcome from SEIKO Passion, and thanks for popping to the channel :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman no no, no problem with you. I just read the notice in French because my English is bad. indeed, the failure recognized by seiko of a forced change after 7 years is at our expense. I find it shameful of this brand which knows the defect, does not announce it before the sale and does not try to correct it, let us pay for their mistake. This is a scam by Seiko.
@@steffrouen Well technically, all LCD displays weaken over the years, and by the 7th year it's not going to be as fresh as when it was new, but saying that, you might not notice the difference, so it's Seiko being too honest, as I've got Seiko digitals from the mid 70's that are still working lovely, maybe not new, but nice enough not to worry about it. So don't look at it as a bad thing, or to something that needs replacing after 7yrs, otherwise that would be a BOLEX scam LML ;-P
Excellent comment... cheers buddy... and yes, it's still in my collection and will always stay. If you didn't know, Citizen made their own Arnie back in 1987 which I've just recently posted, and I feature my SNJ025 to compare, plus my friend videoed his original H588 Arnie. I've also done a side by side next to the original Arnie which can be found in my playlist. The new version is very well done, feels solid and looks incredible even next to the original. Don't worry about the China part, the watch is still manufactured in Japan, this is more about the assembly side that keeps the pricing down, and nothing with regards to quality. Thanks again my friend :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Absolutely! Looking forward to it. Would you be able to do a review on the Citizen Promaster Ray Mears? I’ve got my eye on it and would be curious as to your thoughts.
@@redbarchetta4 Cheers buddy :) My buddy at Time and Talk ua-cam.com/video/lcnwwSLqDio/v-deo.html has posted a video of his thoughts on his 300m ProMaster Titanium. I don’t have plans to review this particular model. It looks solid and well made like with many Citizen’s. I’d like to be honest to how I see it, and remember it’s just my opinions and thoughts. There’s two reasons why I won’t buy this watch, and the first one being the silly one, is the arrow hour hand. It reminds me of my old school clock in the class room when I was 8yrs old. It has that toy look, and today it feels it’s mocking, if that makes sense, with my years added on I just see it as a clock hand in a kinder garden. I know it’s minor, but to my eye I can’t help but hit upon it each time. The other side that doesn’t pull me in, is the fact that it’s a 300m watch, yet isn’t an iSO Diver’s rated watch. For a Diver’s rated watch to pass, it needs to pass vigorous tests beyond its means, so unless it’s a Diver’s rated watch, then it might as well have 6900mtrs on the dial. I’ve not read if these watches are tested beyond 300mtrs, so will swallow my words if I’m wrong, but I know without a bezel it can’t be tested as iSO Diver’s. The design is really simple and bold, but I’m more attracted to Citizen for their complications and in general their busy faces. I like to discover new angles and features on a watch over time, but feels with this, I’ve already discovered everything about it in a few minutes. I hope I’m making sense to how I’m seeing this watch, and I’m not condemning it at all, as it’s like music, there isn’t such a thing as bad music, it’s just not your style of music. Now this is a Citizen I like that’s on eBay (not mine) it’s the ProMaster Diver’s 300m Eco-Drive BN0080-05L BNWT and it’s priced at £199 with free delivery in the UK and it’s new with tags. Again, it’s not mine, but I have it on my wish list :) This is something more for my taste… it has more details on the face… bold markers with tool design hands. Has a fidget spinner bezel and a monster crown. The big difference is that titanium side, as titanium on watches is just amazing as it’ll never corrode or make your skin swell red, so it has that side over the one I’m more interested in. I feel you really need to soak up all the things you like and make the decision on your needs. I know reviews are really helpful, but the last journey is your choice. Maybe I’ve helped, maybe I’ve made it worse, but it’s just my opinion and it’s still a cracking looking watch :)
Liquid crystal panel says: "They will replace it for a fee" , NOT "for free"... I truly want to buy this watch , but that line is concerning because you need the digital panel to adjust the analog dial ... i might not " Get To Da Choppa " with this one.
Hey buddy... that's my sense of humour... I've been chatting to the guys at Seiko Boutique in London with regards to this LCD 7yr replacement... it seems that SEIKO are just being too honest, as with all LCD displays over the years they do become more aged... SEIKO are about their pride, and if you want the LCD to look as crisp as the day you bought it, then every 7yrs will keep that look... but these LCD displays last much longer than that, I've got watches with displays from 1978 that sill look good, may have some rainbow on them, but still show the digits good enough. I hope that helps, but it's really an oversight with to much honesty if you ask me... I'm super happy with this new Arnie and it's one that I will keep for sure... I'm hoping they will stop making them, so I have an investment to look forward too :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Thanks mate for the reply! ..Yeah well I suppose its just a disclaimer then . I do like the Gold one, I've got tiny 6.3" wrists so the black lugs make the watch look a little smaller, but i wonder if in the future the gold Arnie will be as popular/collectable as the silver one? Who knows right?
@@maximusvonlemm What usually happens is the least demanding model always becomes the more collectable, mainly down to production... much like when those Telly Tubbies came out, the green one wasn't sold as much, so stopped making them, and then all of a sudden it was deemed popular to have the set, then the green version became sought after and prices on them went 100x more... I managed a toy shop back in the 90's thus why I mentioned Telly Tubbies LML :-P The rose gold version does look nice, but finding one can be hard... the Pepsi probably the most common one due to the difference in the lume colour. Hey buddy... reason why is that there isn't a LAP/Split time feature, it's just a start/stop stopwatch. If it had this I would certainly cover it. Hope that helps.
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman If you use the second button, when stopwatch running. You get an split time and make two different times. I know it from Arnie Safari (SNJ031). Merry Christmas and Happy Arnie-year to you, my buddy!
And I have got reason to the problem with Lap/Split. On newest "Arnies" are the function not featured by button. So I'm get sorry to be fast when the function sadly are missed. I apologized!
@@petertrier2746 When I first got the new Arnie I like to try and work it out without instructions, it’s a side I enjoy, makes the thrill last longer, but I was so baffled to how the split works, pressing both buttons, pulling the crown out and basically trying everything to get a split, then finally gave in and looked in the manual and no split functions available ;( No need to apologise my friend, and can understand how it looked, but am very into the details so if anyone was to find it, I am that geek enough to have sussed it. I’ve played with the original Arnie (H588) but never tried the stopwatch with split... I’m guessing in the new Arnie that the watch is more with regards to a longer recording of time lapsed and not a track and field stopwatch. Merry Christmas my friend ;)
Sorry that’s my sense of humour mocking the Fee part... Japan made assembled in China... it’s for tax reasons i’m sure... because if you need to return the watch, it’s to Japan... anyway, what’s the big deal with China? they invented steel, glass, ceramic, ice cream, swords, kites and the list goes on and on and even the device you’re using to type your comment is very likely made in China... blame our greedy governments for China’s dominance... the Chinese Dynasty is returning “get to da chopper”
The original will always have that place, maybe the latests is tougher, but at the time the original Arnie was a Diver's 150m rated watch made for some serious times... I wished the new version didn't have SOLAR and PROSPEX on the dial, and had the depth timer information... I did a review of the new and original together, and they have done a great job with the re-issue.... think there's a green version coming too??? If a deal come up for the original I might be tempted just to have my own experience of owning one... new replacement shrouds are available I've seen which is the part that suffers the most... I guess you own the original?
@@craigevans810 You don't need manuals when you have my tutorials... I love to experiment and I want to know everything in detail... my tutorials always go that extra above others, maybe I film too much, but for those who want to calibrate the hands, then I've included it... you also get a mini movie too LML :-P Cheers for the feedback my friend... and isn't it a great watch, I love trying new straps as the drilled lugs make it easy... looks good on a thick dark stitched leather, but have it on a vintage style resin.. did do a video on it just to add, but that's my favourite strap so far, as leather this time of year soaks up sweat and looks nasty, plus you can't get it wet, and I bought the new Arnie so it can go anywhere. I think SEIKO have done a lovely job, and for those who turn their nose up because it's made in China are really missing out... but guess they prefer their Made in China $1300 smartphones instead LML :-P
Made in China is only on the surface... Japanese parts sent to China to be assembled, think it's about keeping the costs down for us SEIKO nuts with the regards of sending the watch as parts... the build is brilliant my friend, and I'm sure you enjoy your smartphone without worrying it has China through and though... I know China has made some poop and still does, but have a search what China really gets up to and what they've invented and you'll be amazed... think about this, you really think SEIKO Japan would take that kind of chance??? You're really missing out over that print, and inside is Japan, and outside for that matter. China on a higher level are incredible engineers and their structures alone are world beating... see beyond the cheap things they produce, as this is called up by the Western market, otherwise we wouldn't see crap come from them. The wage in China is cheaper than Japan's, so I would guess for an extra print of Japan' on the back case it would bring the SNJ to about £800/$700 My friend, you really need to see one in the hand and really see how it's made... I'm really keeping this watch, I can't part with it, and it's a watch you can really treat rough too. There isn't anything like it being made today, it has that original Arnie side, but with modern added. I understand that if you're a Japan collector only this isn't for the collection, so maybe SEIKO should add the 'Japan' version ???? I'm not sure how long they will produce these, but they have a good following. Cheers

One of the greatest watches I’ve ever purchased
Made in China using Japanese parts apparently... but we all know China invented steel and glass and you can't ague with that... It's a great watch, and it's one I have in my watch box for a month, then on my wrist for a week... I was looking at the original, but have decided that this new Arnie is something I will use more often, as getting parts for the original is harder than hunting a Predator in life LML :-P Cheer!
So glad to have found your new channel! You give the most detailed and informative reviews than any ‘watch reviewer’ on UA-cam.
Cheers my friend... glad you found me again... and your feedback is part of why I had to come back... I just love to detail things :)

Hello I just got mine seiko snj025
does anyone knows if the buttons are unscrewed can be use in a shower 🚿?
By the way you have made a very nice video review thanks for all details 👍
What stands out to me is that the seconds hand hits every index spot on in every UA-cam video I have watched so far. Is this a coincidence or is the QC on this watch THAT good?
I tried the watch for the first time today, and to my surprise it was not too large for me. So I will definitely be getting taht watch.
It looks like it's a massive diver when browsing through pictures, but with the lug to lug being quite short, makes it a lovely compact watch... I can see this becoming an early collectors piece... some are put of with 'Made in China' but that's from people who use smart phones from China which is most of them LML :-P
Don't worry about the LCD display with that 7yrs, that's just SEIKO being honest, it's likely to outlive your eyesight :-P

That symbol next to the p is the symbol for the alarm letting you know alarm or sound is enabled.

Great video, thank you. I bought one of the original watches in about 1986 time, and loved it. I have just ordered the one you are reviewing, with a pepsi dial, and cant wait for it with all the memories of the 80s.
Btw ,would be interesting to find out eventual service cost.
How do you turn the hourly chime off and on?
Personally I won't be using my Arnie in the seas, as this is a very aggressive environment and a shame to bully the look of the watch... that's not saying it's ok, I have other sea watches that I prefer and don't mind them looking like a sea wreak... silicon/resin straps go very odd when used in the sea for a certain amount of time, and if not rinsed then the bezel can get very stuck :-P
In the shower with the pushers is ok, as there isn't water pressure, and pressing buttons while wet is also ok, it's a Diver's 200m watch that has been tested :))
Hope that helps you my friend :))
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman thank you for your reply and the additional information, which I’ll certainly be following. Cheers
@@Boatdrink Cheers buddy, and you're very welcome :))
How come the original watch says depth gauge on the dial? The new one doesn't
Elegant and magnfic watch. I have a model. I am very happy. From Brazil.
What are your thoughts about the the LCD panel statement on pg 57 of the owners manual mate? It's not for free it's for a fee!
Did you see it wake up as soon as the box was opened?
Well spotted my friend :))
My one arrives today, tracking it right now👍

I just received this watch. My only problem im having is when I try to use the main crown. I unscrew it anticlockwise and then try to pull the crown out but it won't budge?..... any ideas?
You need to keep unscrewing counterclockwise till the crown pops out, then you can pull to adjust ;)
I have the original were can I get some work done on it?????
Pop over to Facebook and search for 'Retro & Vintage Watches & Restorations' and look for the owner Michael Bolton and he'll say who's the best on the group. This group is the best for these kinds of things... Simon Wilkinson on the group has the original... I've done a video on the new and old and you can see his 588 there next to my 851
Too big for me. Nonetheless, badass! Methinks the sound icon indicates an alarm.
I have 7" wrist and it looks fine, I was worried it would look daft
Just noticed no Lume on the second hand 😳 but on the original it was present!
I who like the Rangeman like you, what could you say to convince me about this watch?
Hey buddy.... well I just show watches as they are, and you take what you need from that... the big question is what are you wanting?
Looks?
Diver's 200m
Ani-digital?
It's Diver's 200m rated so has been through the tests to reach that merit, so at least you have that side of confidence :)
If you find a good deal, then yeah, and I feel this will become a future collectable... it is solar but doesn't have MB6, so will need adjusting every month if you want it accurate. The lume is good, not the strongest to be honest, but lume is usually over rated, but having the backlight on the LCD panel makes is useable in low lighting, but if running the stopwatch then you can't use the backlight as it'll stop/start the stopwatch :-P
I'm not sure if you'll find it a little dull with regards to functions, as the GPR is packed full...

I have a solar Seiko from 1978 that's still performing, so to me it's like SEIKO are being too honest... can you really see in 7yrs time a rush to have LCD's replaced, now that's not clever and a bad choice from SEIKO :-P
With regards to mineral crystal, don't see this as a bad thing, mineral takes the shocks, and it hasn't effected the G-Shock sales, so think about that side, now, 500 is in what currency?
Does the crown have a little bit of wiggle in it when unscrewed
Please. Replace liquid Crystal panel after 7 years is free ?

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Hey thanks so much. I just ordered an Arnie after watching your review. You do a nice job. Thanks again.
@@redbarchetta4 Let me know your thoughts please... you're in for a treat... cheers buddy ;)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman Absolutely! Looking forward to it. Would you be able to do a review on the Citizen Promaster Ray Mears? I’ve got my eye on it and would be curious as to your thoughts.
@@redbarchetta4
Cheers buddy :)
My buddy at Time and Talk ua-cam.com/video/lcnwwSLqDio/v-deo.html has posted a video of his thoughts on his 300m ProMaster Titanium.
I managed a toy shop back in the 90's thus why I mentioned Telly Tubbies LML :-P
The rose gold version does look nice, but finding one can be hard... the Pepsi probably the most common one due to the difference in the lume colour.
Big watches are cool in Japan... then again big flares in the 70's was cool LML :-P You just do what you like and don't worry what others think, there are no rules :)
@@WatchUP69MrRangeman What's a Telly Tubbie?... haha, JK, funny story ...
I ordered the Gold one, I do like it more, wasn't hard to find here in Oz from a local online dealer. I think we have good stocks here. Same with the CasiOak everyone running around trying to find one , i just went down the Mall, bought the Black White for me and the all black for my bro at the best price, I bargained, hahah
/!\ they won't replace the display "for free" but "for a fee" it's written p57, read again you will have to pay something every 7 years
On my channel I have a thing called humour... I like to be different and this was so tempting to make funny, but you have overlooked it and become a Predator... it’s Made in China so will probably fall apart before 7yrs anyway LML ;-P
Why're everyone with tutorials not allowing to show spilt function at the stop watch function? That's stupid and bad performance!?
They replace screen for a fee
Replace the LCD for a FEE. PAY MONEY. Don’t like the idea “MADE IN CHINA”, rather have it made in Japan!
The chinese air you meen.
Japanese Air? It's made in China bruv...unless they imported air from Japan to supply the Chinese factory.
Original watch is much more better.
Great review, got mine last week, didn't realize it did so many things,I obviously didn't read the manual lol
@@craigevans810 You don't need manuals when you have my tutorials... I love to experiment and I want to know everything in detail... my tutorials always go that extra above others, maybe I film too much, but for those who want to calibrate the hands, then I've included it... you also get a mini movie too LML :-P
Cheers for the feedback my friend... and isn't it a great watch, I love trying new straps as the drilled lugs make it easy... looks good on a thick dark stitched leather, but have it on a vintage style resin.. did do a video on it just to add, but that's my favourite strap so far, as leather this time of year soaks up sweat and looks nasty, plus you can't get it wet, and I bought the new Arnie so it can go anywhere. I think SEIKO have done a lovely job, and for those who turn their nose up because it's made in China are really missing out... but guess they prefer their Made in China $1300 smartphones instead LML :-P
"Made in China."... Okay. Next?
The wage in China is cheaper than Japan's, so I would guess for an extra print of Japan' on the back case it would bring the SNJ to about £800/$700
My friend, you really need to see one in the hand and really see how it's made...
Cheers
