    Hey dude. A lot of great engineering and time going into this. Its really cool.
    However …. please don’t use those printed plastic joiners to hold your ribs to the chassis plate.
    I would almost guarantee they won’t be strong enough.
    The threads are inserted from the same side as the piece they are secured to by the look of it, so they can pull out.
    You would be much better off getting some aluminium 90deg angle (it’s a stock extruded material). You could drill and tap the angle to bolt it together or drill right through and bolt through.
    Seriously, it would be a much stronger solution.
    At 200mph the pressure in the body will be huge. I wouldn’t be surprised if that alone ripped it apart.
    Good luck mate 👍 look forward to seeing it run.

    • @HawkerFury
      @HawkerFury Рік тому +8

      @@ThomasPCGuruENGINES that’s a good point about the flat bottom. Potentially used correctly though it could produce a suction onto the road.
      But yes if air gets under it, its game over man.
      I just don’t want to see all this work fall apart around the chassis 😊.

      @HawkerFury Рік тому +4

      @@dries-pederjanse6249 I fully disagree with that but we are all entitled to our opinions.
      I just don’t want to see all his heard work fall apart. A printed part with a thread hot inserted into it on such a joint really isn’t very good.
      I’m sure the fact he could draw it and print it nice and accurately was the most appealing part of the decision to do it that way, but for the structural integrity of the chassis I’m afraid it needs more work put into it than that.

    So, you have a few options for wheels: something similar to the Bloodhound SSC, which are solid aluminium-zinc alloy disks, which can deal with 10 200 RPM. You could coat the rims with latex or something to give it something akin to tyres. You could also do foam based stuff (as some other people have suggested), which could deal with the heat really well due to the air pockets, but they might have too much give. Personally, if I was making this, I'd do aluminium disk for the main wheel, with layers of rubber and foam. But I don't know how that'd be made. But hey, experiment and have some fun! For all I know what I've just said is utterly useless and can't be done.
