Nathan, I appreciate your time and effort. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks as always for the feedback :)
Nathan, this is awesome. Simple is an under rated design principle but you nail it. Nice work with the round corners on the back panel too, agree that it’s very satisfying to see. Cheers!
Thanks for watching Jamie! You are absolutely right that simple is underrated and in quality and difficulty. Takes me quite awhile of just looking at my drawings and tweaking things to get it just right. Thanks again :)
I truly like this build
Fantastic build…thanks. My son collects retro gaming systems and just acquired a “free” 1996 CRT television to use with the gaming system. The tv weights about 150 lbs! And this is exactly the design I was imaging for his mondo TV!
That's going to look 🔥🔥
That's a fantastic job, well done Nathan
Thanks Mick!
Great one. The finish looks really nice.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing Job Congrats 👊😎
Thanks for watching!
"In total this cost about $20." not with today's wood prices. 😂
Yeah a bit more expensive now 🤦♂️
Great work it’s so beautiful 😍
Thanks Jake!
@@NATHANBUILDS You're welcome! : )
I think thats really nice!!!!
Thanks for watching Garviel!
Beautiful
Thanks for watching!
Haha, love the pop up at the start! Great build, thanks for sharing. I'm very much a beginner, but hoping to start doing similar builds (or at least practicing) next year. Just wondering roughly how long such a bookcase would take you to make?
Hey Jon, thanks for watching! For the time, if I dedicated 8 hours I could definitely get it done. However, because I have two little kids and another job I usually only have a couple hours at a time so it takes a bunch more set up/take down time. If you are new, expect it to take a few days of work. It's worth it though and this is a great type of project to start on as the wood is cheap!
Thanks Nathan, cheap sounds good to start with for sure! That project is definitely something I'll be trying at some point, although I'm sure it'll take at least a week...and some new tools! Thanks for sharing the video, and for the comedy value at the start :-)
On glue squeeze out: I make caskets for a living, so I glue a whoooooole lot. Anything where the joint is structural, you want squeeze out - it indicates the surface is covered. Cleanup is a small price to pay for strength. We wait 'til the little beads dry and then scrape them. Anything decorative like molding, and you can get away with one bottle squeeze width of glue and some nails to hold the joint while the glue dries. If you ever want to check/test your glue spread, apply a line to a piece of wood and then mash down a flat piece against the glue and lift it away. You'll clearly see how far the glue spreads in that joint and you can add or take away. 400 caskets a day and we only have one failure every two years or so. (Don't worry - the family rarely sees the casket moved so they never see the failures)
Great info! Lol I could imagine some crazy failures with a casket
Preciosa ,y prolijo para trabajar muchas gracias x compartir y felicidades un saludo desde Veracruz ver mex
Thanks for watching :)
Vc está de parabéns 👏👏
Thanks!
Nathan good video ideas. What sort of would did you use for this build? Can they be stained as well.
I used general 2x lumber from home improvement store. It is just pine. You can definitely stain it!
I think Im going to do this. I got a free no stud wall mount but I just really dont trust it
i lied. I got universal stand legs to fit my little table
Great build,i wish i could set my dewalt table saw spot on but it never happens
That sucks - I have never had a problem but have heard other people say they have issues.
Cool build! Link to amazon jig?
Thanks! Check out the video description which had links to the tools. I think it's listed as a doweling jig.
The back of that thing.... There are no words.
So do you hate it or love it 😂
@@NATHANBUILDS I love it the whole thing is gorgeous.
Haha thanks 🙂
I didnt read all of the comments. Is there a way to get some plans for this?
Sorry I didn’t make any plans for this one.
Can I use nails or screws instead of glue?
You could - screws would probably be a better bet. Pocket holes would work well on a lot of the connections.
What would you estimate the weight limit for this to be? Could I place 100lbs on top?
Easily. I’ve sat on ot and I’m 170
Anyway you could give the rough dimensions of this? Thanks!
Sure - the body is 42"wx14"hx12"d. Legs are 3". I mainly choose the dimensions based on the lumber I bought but I really like them after living with it for awhile. Good luck!
Thank you! Am trying this for a TV stand, so my dimensions were bigger. Couldn’t figure out how you did it with two boards… make sense now!
I’m a pine man to.
Love that pine
