Absolutely the best Allison transmission service video on UA-cam. No talking, No product sales, just how to do the service. Thank you for this.
And no stupid over bearing music
Awesome to see a good video without all the babbling! 👍👍
Thanks!
This is a really good good video. Don't need anything else to make it perfect. Great job.
Great video without “what’s up guys?” Nice job!
What a great video and info...I'm new to having a Duramax/Allison combo and this helped me a lot! Thank you!!
Thank you for posting this. It works well without an audio narration, concise and to the point with the text!
You're welcome. 👍🏻
Excellent video I just bought my first GMC Duramax it’s a 2002 and I’m looking forward to doing some of the maintenance myself thank you sir
Compliments to the mech. Dude knows how to make a how-to. Solid. Thank you.
Great video, no BS, straight to the point! Thanks
I truly enjoy the videos and info you share to all of us. No lame music and talking just to hear yourself talk. There should be a go fund me page for you so you can get a concrete or asphalt slab put down, no more laying on gravel .
Thanks for taking the time to make a good training video I will be very capable of performing this maintenance on my own.
Excellent how-to video, probably the best I have seen. Thanks for the help!
You're welcome 👍🏻
Thank you for great no nonsense video. I now think I can do this work myself!
You're welcome 👍🏻
UA-cam perfection. Thank you for keeping it nice and simple and uncluttered. Subscribed.
Oh! One more thing. Thanks for the links to the tools & parts you used... big time help.
You're welcome. 👍🏻
The fluid you changed was so clean!
Will be doing a video on this service on my 2016 Duramax; doing research at the moment; fantastic video to use as a baseline 👍
Excellent video. No Bs straight to the point and very informative
Thanks for the video. Nice tools... Snap-On digital torque wrench.
Thanks a bunch, straight forward, pretty simple!
Love the video, just showing us how to do it with no BS! Thanks
This is what all UA-cam how tos should be. Excellent job
Thanks!
Where is the overly loud music and non stop talking before the video? HAHA Awesome video and very clear cut video.
This is how videos should be! Awesome content
Excellent concise video. TY
Excellent video. No music, no irrelevant BS, no stupid drunken banter, etc, just a proper, NO HACK process for doing the job, including the use of the torque wrench. Thank You. Later Allisons may be serviced with Allison Transynd TES 295. Need to check your owners manual to see what the transmission is supposed to be serviced with.
You're welcome. 👍🏻
Nice how to video! A point to note though, according to Allison service recommendations, the sump filter should only be replaced at transmission overhaul.
I have to agree with the rest of the comments, great no nonsense tutorial. Thank you!
Perfect!!!
Thank you for the video. Very helpful. 🤘
It's the best video ever! Thanks, I'm going to try it this weekend..
Great video. No yapping, business only.
Thanks for the video. Now got to crawl under my truck and do the same. Just wish it was as clean as yours under there! Looks a lot simpler than I was expecting. I will say it is only a two beer job.
You're welcome. 👍🏻
I liked the video as most did. Just do it! Simple to the point. Keep making videos we have the same truck. Thank you
Wow no music or talking just to the point, great job man, keep up the good work👍🏻
Great video! Thanks!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the video You just saved me $499
Thanks the shop quotes over 300 I think I’ll do it myself save money and have some leftover for a nice torque wrench like that
Great tutorial, do you know if this is the same transmission that comes in the GMC C6500 with the 7.4 gas motor?
Great video, seriously. Is this what you recommend for any of the early 6.6 duramax? Like for an 07 LBZ?
I read that Castrol Synguard is a recommended ATF for this transmission. Have you tried it?
GREAT video
Thanks! 👍🏻
Gracias amigo Great video
I have an 06 2500 with an Allison 1000 series. I'm throwing multiple codes for solenoid A, B, C, D plus the p0700. Also getting the" range shift inhibited " Any
Nice video ! I’m a little confused though? Everywhere that I’m reading it says not to use the dextron? Use either the Mobil 1 delvac or the transynd. I’m even seeing the Castrol trans max . Mine is a 2007 Allison 1000 .
Great video!!!
Good video, is there a reason you didn’t take off the external filter then take the drain plug out?
Great informative video 👍 Thanks 🏁 Lmm in Colorado 🤠
Great video
Can u make a video explain oil pressure in the same vehicle , thanks
Awesome video. Does anyone know where I can find an online service manual for the GMC Sierra HD2500 series SLE with the 6.6L dual turbo Duramax? 🙇🏽♀️
I am getting ready to change out filter and fluid on my LBZ Duramax. I do both once a year or every other oil change. I went on Allison's website to see the interval to change out the pan filter. Allison says to change pan filer only during overhaul so i never mess with it.
my Lb7 has 165,608 miles,
i just bought it and i changed the spin off filter and its purple ?
so i need to do this to my truck soon,
it doesnt smell burnt ...
and for 50,000 miles service, does that mean you have to go that every 50,000 limes ?
Bad ass torque wrench
Thanks!
looked pretty clean.
Yea. No idea on when it was serviced. Just bought the truck. Service interval is 50k miles. Truck is at 150k.
Just an FYI apparently there was a transmission vent leak on many allison trans applications. They will blow fluid out the vent on the back top of housing on the left side. It's from a little design flaw or poor communication from Allison and the other manufacturers. The dipstick tubes need a vent, or remove the vent on the trans and extend it up higher at firewall etc. Possibly work to drill a hole in dipstick tube. Apparently there's TSB on it and random info in a search.
Part # 15115171 (Updated???)Transmission filler tube- has slot or holes at top

The link doesn't show the price for that dandy SnapOn torque wrench. ;)
Very good video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it. 👍🏻
Man I wish I had your torque wrench! And when do you buy your shop towels?
Shop towels I use are Wypall brand. BOX USA BPKW102 WypAll X80 Shop Pro Wipers Jumbo Roll, Pink (Pack of 475) www.amazon.com/dp/B01EYCNI3A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_nUKWAb41GB6XS
good informative service how to video thank you
I heard you're supposed to check it in neutral because park uses pressure while running
Do you need to lubricate the gasket on the pan or leave it dry?
HAHAHA, Justin Sharp is right ghost close the door in 00:32 seconds, By the way, it is a good tutorial video
Thanks for saving me $411. Some brothers that rhyme with "Sebastion" wanted to hose me over on this service.
Really really good video👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
never mind thanks. for sharing that
I have a 07 lbz have you done a Nsbu switch mines internal instead of outside out transmission
Dude looks like a young Joe Thornton. Keep growing that beard guy
Thanks for this great video! Can I tell if my transmission fluid needs to be changed just with the color on the dip stick ? I bought the truck with 88 000 miles about 20 000 miles ago (1 year and half) and I know it has been super well maintained.
I prefered to drive the front onto 6x6" blocks saves lifting
The trans oil from Allison is recommend. The one site said to put your foot on the brake and cycyle through the gears, as it drains more of the oil while still keeping the torque converter full.
Is it true that on an Allison trans, that the fluid should be checked while in neutral due to getting a false reading from transmission back pressure? Several videos show the neutral checking level.
yeah put ebrake on and chaulk back tires. check fluid in neutral and it should be in between the hash marks.
I had a international box truck and my Allison transmission is leaking just when is hot ,do you think I need to replace the gasket???
I got 2003 Chevy 2500 hd duramax lb7 Allison transmision ; I was wonder if It is same pan bolt torque for that truck ?
Yup, same torque specs.
On my 2007 GMC Sierra 2500, the manual says the operating temperature is between 185 and 210, but your video didn't show the temperature up that high. I also tried to drive to get the temperature up that high, and it only got to about 150 after over 1 hour of driving. I'm not sure what to go by.
A temp of 185 to 210 are the exact specs of your engine coolant temperatures, ome thermostat opens at 185 the 2nd opens at 210. The manual calls for the transmission to be 100 degrees above ambient air temperature outside. Like MrSubaru said just drive 20-30 minutes and you are good to go!
Great video! Was that a shallow or deep internal transmission filter that you used?
I believe shallow.
Thanks for the great vid! What kind of watch are you wearing in it?
Watch is Timex Men's TW4B03500 Expedition Gallatin Black/Blue Nylon Slip-Thru Strap Watch www.amazon.com/dp/B0194LWDA0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3WAEBbNCRJ3KD
MrSubaru1387
Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply!
You're welcome. 👍🏻
@@midamultitool1387 who gives a fuck about his watch
Great video, that's nice snapon lol
Thank you.
My truck has 253k and I don’t think it’s ever been serviced I want to do it but shoujd I even do it now?
Torque converter change ?
it is not necessary to change the internal filter every time .??
Always like to put the jack stands up front on Chevy trucks under the sway bar
The shop we took our RV to overfilled out Allison transmission 1000. What’s the best way to get some fluid out of there? Is there a fill plug that I can pump some oil out of? Or would it be okay to use the drain plug?
I'd loosen the drain, you hand/arm might get soaked, but that's the fastest way. Just hold the plug to the hole, pull it down and back up quickly.
@@MrSubaru1387 Thanks, as always the best mechanic on YT.
Nice video. Why do you not pre-fill the filter? How often do you change the filter?
Filter and fluid is supposed to be changed every 50k miles.
External filter every 20,000km, trans fluid every 80,000km.
How many quarts of fluid does it take ?
Great job! I would have used Transynd for fill but that's just me.
What year is your truck? Good vid, I love my Duramax!
2004, late. So first LLY.
@@MrSubaru1387 Same here,2004.5
Ghost confirmed at 00:32 door closing by itself. Spooky man
Haha, good thing the wind wasn't blowing. Wouldn't have spotted it if it was. :D
What did you clean the mounting surface with?
Just brake parts cleaner, razor blade, and a rag.
Only thing that would make it better, that I know of, would be to mention socket sizes-save a trip under the truck to find out....
Wow, just did this and drained out 11 L+ of fluid...only bought 2 gal of ATF as thought based on this it would take around 7...should i be worried? 01 2500hd with 5spd allison and 8.1L gas?
Was running and shifting fine, but figured it was time to change, and glad i did as fluid looked dirty
why not pull the pan ?? is there filter in there
Nice thank you
Is this the same on a 2008 LMM?
thank you for no silly back ground music or talking....however I thought the internal filter dont need to be changed unless doing a rebuild
Great vidio
Perfect thx.
What kind of jack did you use. I have tried two and I cannot get enough lift.
Snap-on FJ300 if I recall correctly.
MrSubaru1387 Thank you
There is another guy on youtube that says the fluid with the Allison trans should only be checked in neutral with engine running.Anyone have comments on that?
Engine idling in park, hold brake, cycle transmission from park to reverse, to neutral, to drive, to neutral, to reverse, and back to park. Check fluid in park with engine idling. Straight from the GM service manual.
@@MrSubaru1387 Fast reply.Thank you and again great video!
More important to make sure the fluid is at operating temp when you check it than neutral vs park. Check the level 3 times and go with the lowest reading you got. If it's really inconsistent on the dipstick, you can shut the truck off after getting to operating temp and check the level within 2 minutes, after that the converter starts draining back into the pan and it'll read high.
Bro awesome video!! Right to the m#$%fng point!!! New subscriber here!!
