The problem with the AoT fanbase is that they lack a connecting sense of Empathy and do not allow themselves to understand EVERY perspective in the story, even the characters they "dont like" like Gabi for most people. This just causes a bunch of groups in the fanbase to call each other stupid for empathizing with certain characters as apposed to others. Its extremely childish... just like Eren's character, and its perfect honestly. The fanbase perfectly reflects the reality of the message that Isayama was portraying with AoT
@@Ace_D YESS!! Flaws are obstacles that literally gives characters opportunities and chances to shine. Why would the whole cast just be perfect??? LMAO That's not a story xD
Very well put, Reiner is one of my favorite characters due to his strong character development and storytelling whereas most people hate him because he’s from Marley. Same with the Gabi point, she’s an annoying POS but she’s no different than Eren when we started the series. I can’t hate her, I can only hate her actions like killing Potatoe Girl. The story is brillianty written to evoke these kinds of emotions and discourse amongst the fanbase. You really see the psychological breakdown of how people think based on how they digested the show.
I like most of the characters in aot for very different reasons, every character has its own perspective, emotions and experiences with the world. I can understand eren, floch, Reiner, gabi, armin, hangi etc. Only problem i had with the last few episodes of aot was that they just killed their own comrades with nearly no emotional damage and in very brutal ways, that was a bit random for me.
I think the rumbling anime opening song in s4 sums up eren's character really well. Whoever write the lyrics, they understand AOT. Eren is like an omnipotent being that knows everything but unable to change anything. He is paralyzed while watching a car crash happening in slow motion. But i don't think its all tragedy, if you look at the ending closely you'll notice that paradis manage to build multiple skyscraper, which took a really long time of peace to finish. And we can see mikasa die of old age before the war. So it is more likely that the war is a recent conflict that has nothing to do with revenge or the eldian stereotype. So in a way, eren succeed in saving his friends.
it has to do with the 'eldian stereotype'... people don't forget history (literally now that the titan powers is no more) , and people won't learn from history, hence the same history will repeat itself. The wipe out allowed for a brief time of peace, yes, that was one of eren's intentions to have a conflict free era for his friends to live in... But it wasn't a rosy life for them, they were ambassadors n they had to endure flack from both sides...
Eren basically gained the awareness that he is a character in a manga that is fateded to die. Not only that but because it's hinted to be a time loop everytime we read it he wakes up to the same fate again and again. He doesn't want to necessarily comit genocide bit since it's literally written into the pages of destiny that he will, and since he experienced the oppression and pressure to do it he feels like a part of him might as well embrace it
off topic but the editing of this video is absolutely top tier!!! anyways i agree with everything you said, and i really do believe that eren is the best mc in anime and one of the best protagonists in fiction! this account is so underrated, keep up the good work
I literally cried after finishing this video.this just reminded me how much I'm emotionally connected with this show's character and how much i miss it.Your breakdown was so on point it felt like isayama himself is describing what he was thinking while writing aot.editing was also amazing.love this video . I'll be sure rewatching this video time to time
Without even watching the vid - I agree. Most people misunderstand AoT and don't understand how world works. Nothing ever goes to plan, rarely do you actually enjoy life, misery is a must. Eren was an omniscient man, he spent thousands of years in the paths, unable to change the course whatsoever.
It does seem like titans end up in the hands of those who embody their traits. I don't think it's a coincidence that every Jaw holder had a self-sacrificial nature, for instance.
@ true Ymir sacrificed herself even in her backstory when she tried to take up for the cult members during that raid. She also sacrificed herself at the castle when she had the opportunity to escape on her own after so long being a background character prior to season 2 like who would have suspected her of being a shifter? She also sacrificed herself when she decided to go with Bertholt and Reiner. That also goes for Marcel who saved Reiner considering that had it not been Marcel she could have eaten Reiner and become the Armored. Then at last when Galliard was the Jaw he sacrificed to save Reiner and volunteered to pass it on to Falco in order to spare Falco at the same time.
@ ua-cam.com/users/shortsldugE-pW_yk?si=gSQP5KdMijHepueq idk if this is fact but it does make sense why Eren and Krueger looked similar meanwhile Grisha’s attack Titan form looked very different.
Thi is by far the best eren video I've ever seen. the extra context of Iseyama makes things so much clearer to me and I now feel like I can be satisfied with AOT and how it ended :) thx dude!
I always saw Eren flipping out at Hange and asking her if she has any hidden info he doesn’t know about, was him actually hoping she had something he didn’t know about, thus showing him that there is another way, but since she doesn’t, he only confirmed that he can’t change his future
Do not let them delude you. That’s exactly what that is, Eren is not a psychopath, a slave, or insane. Please don’t become illiterate it’d break my heart
From my pov Eren was stuck in a lose lose situation. The outside world wanted the Island destroyed and when Willy announced a genocide they cried tears of joy at the prospect no one said 'no' that was the act that doomed the outside world hadn't they done it the Rumbling wouldn't have happened. Also why are they starting said war in the first place, because Marley made so many enemies in their wars they decided to 'remind' the world who the real 'enemy' is by pointing their finger to the 'Island Devils'. That is the sin of the outside world, they are unable to let go of their hate, worst yet they pass their hate on to their children, they teach that Eldians are meant to be killed that they are monsters that should not exist, that they need to pay for the sins of those that came before them. Don't forget in Marley they can feed children to dogs (Eren's aunt), turn them into mindless titans, condition their children to serve Marley and view themselves as disposable, use them as weapons etc. And this is supposedly the place were they treat Eldians the best. If Eren doesn't use the Rumbling Paradis is lost because of the gab in technological advancement, if does then the whole world is gone, because if the outside world is kept as is in any way shape or form the cycle of hatred will continue. That is the tragedy of AoT, that world is so deep in this cycle that a clean solution doesn't exist. They tried to be peaceful and diplomatic but being such things is meaningless if the other side wants war.
Eren's conclusion was essentially the only one that adheres to the subtext seen throughout the Show and Manga. Certain people wanted Eren to be a Nationalist Hyper-Chad and then got mad when Hajime refused to affirm their wishes and theories. As if " Going Outside" had anything to do with Nationalism.
No he should've waved with a TRIGGERED flag outside Paradis gate when the Zeppelins came flying, did you forget Isayama wrote this story? Why didn't he write it so maybe he wouldnt take a dump on something some of us, probably not you, spent a decade watching, reading and re-watching tens of times. We didnt want Eren to GENOCIDE ALMOST THE ENTIRE WORLD SO LIKE 10 PEOPLE HALF OF WHOM HE DOESNT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT CAN PLAY PHILOSOPHERS, STOMPING CHILDREN, BABIES AND ELDERLY ON HIS WAY. HYPER CHAD? HYPER HLTLER MORE LIKE. F*CK YOU. Isayama wrote this . He wrote that Eren did all this, mass killing while on his behind crying about Mikasa being with another man and calling himself an idiot. You know what i, and majority wanted? For the story to make sense, ok bro you killing all these innocent people, well i hope your friends stop you in time... oh noo you almost killed everyone what now? Oh Mikasa is kissing your head and GTA flying over the ocean while Armin decided to wake up ffrom season 3 and scream a little he took a dump into his diaper, and right Eren killed him mom, what else. Right Nationalist, you mean how they made out Floch to be? Cause if he wasnt made to be a psychopathic POS id say he was the real Erwin successor, the guy who looked after the place we called home, Paradis. With those words you will never convince me you watched any AoT BEFORE SEASON 4 HYPE. Us who had know all the characters like they were our friends. So when they act out of character we're all like wait this is wrong. Thats why the divide was so even. It just became so Isayama wanted both sides to be happy and you can't do that, either go all way or no way. He said it himself, he didn't know what to do and surfed like 4chan or reddit or something for ideas. And i understand that, but don't go selling me that bs that i wanted my former favorite character to be a hyper-chad, i hate Chads. Also your first sentence, what shows are you talking about xD name me one, you perhaps talking about Lelouch from Code Geass? Nothing like Eren. Lelouch was a true martyr, who didn't genocide everyone, he made everyone hate him by other means, and made the enemies to join against him in a much mure realistic and emotional way. I didnt shed a tear for Eren, even tho i can rewatch him blocking the hole with the boulder, or when he first uses the coordinate and when hes riding thinking about Hannes. I cry like a baby. I watched Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Evangelion, Akira, Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent (a must watch psy-thriller), Death Note and many other classics, and i dont need to see 30 analysis videos to understand why they are well written from start to finish
@@AyKira Naturally, but there were people with certain expectations that involved Eren being a Nationalist. And if not that, then a stoic "badass" who's willing to traumatize and murder his loved ones for some nebulous reason. That's who I'm referring to. The subtext surrounds Negative Freedom. Eren wanted to assert himself by exploring a free unoccupied world.
@@AyKira It's perfectly normal for thousands of year. You could say it is supremecheesepizzacist. Every group in history except one right now, cares for itself over others. Can't babysit the world while destroying yourself.
I've also always thought Eren is this way because he's the only one born of a titan shifter. Everyone else was born to normal people and inherited the titan, but Grisha was already a titan shifter. Not only that, but Grisha regained his genitals, and thus his ability to reproduce again, thanks to the Attack Titan.
this is actually brilliant, im of the belief he was basically a slave from the beginning a slave of ymir. He was getting dreams and things put in his head since he was born. He was up against a cosmic entity(ymir)
@@dextoppable ahhh okay. Follow up question. Would that mean Ymir got her tongue back after becoming the founding Titan? It was removed before her first transformation, so does that mean it would come back if Grisha’s fingers and genitals came back?
Love you’re commentary, aot is a tragedy that parallels our story here in real life. Hope the many messages Isayana told resonated with our generation so that we can learn from Eren, armin and mikasa. Also here before you are rich and famous 🎉
Overall, I liked your video. There were a few things that I didn't agree with completely, but it could just be my perspective of the character and the story. I do appreciate that you took a lot of time making this video. At a later time I might give you my thoughts on this.
@Ace_D One thing I will say for now is that sometimes you need people to help you out of it. When you can't on your own. I think you could also consider that's why Eren couldn't find a way out. People noticed the change but never really offered help they left him alone. That's another difference between Eren and Reiner. Reiner's people noticed there was an issue and helped him through it. Eren remained alone. This does happen sometimes. If mental problems are too severe, the person can't overcome it alone they need help. Severe mental states can make people generally believe they are trapped, and they get to a point of self-destruction as a result because they believe it's too late. When we see this kind of behavior we have to help them because they have reached the point where they can't ask for it. Which I believe Eren was at due to everything he was going through among other mind breaking stuff. I think the point of his final arc was to show this. Victim of war becoming the aggressor due to extreme circumstances but in a way still a victim because of severe mental trauma. This is why I feel Isayama concluded his character sympathetically because Eren was severely gone due to all his trauma and his inability and lack of help to overcome it. And he was a slave to the story so Isayama pretty much forced him to do it.
@MrRirate yes that's true. But that shouldn't stop them from trying. I thought I mentioned they noticed the change, but maybe I made a mistake and left it out on accident. Regardless, I agree with your point.
I definitely agree with most of what ur saying however I believe that it's still a bit of the person's responsibility to seek help even if it's something minor, honestly part of the msg that I tried to put into the video is that u aren't trapped just take the first step and everything work out for the better after doing that. It might be the ideal that people reach out but it's just not realistic everyone is pre-occupied with their own life, the person just needs to at least take the first step. That's speaking generally, however for Eren he actively pushed people away which is something a lot of people in the mental state do (speaking personally 😶😶😶) which makes people even less willing to approach to help. But when I also do believe that if u notice someone going through shit it's very important to reach out
Amazing video that deserves more attention. I love how not only did you go deep into Eren's character and his relation to the author himself but also expanded upon these ideas and how they reflected onto two other central characters in this story. Both Gabi and Reiner are great examples of people who managed to break free from their past selves and trying to atone for their past actions. And that was always one of the things I loved about Reiner, who also happens to be my favorite character in the story.
What an insanely thoughtful and introspective breakdown of his character. I want to give a special shoutout to the comment about how he is not a character to be admired or idolized. People tend to confuse the idea of the protagonist being the character we follow with the character we should be rooting for. Over the past few years there's been an increasingly large amount of Eren did nothing wrong defenders coming out of the woodwork, even when the story is screaming the opposite. In part that's why I feel people really dislike the conversation with Armin. It was the moment where they could no longer ignore the fact that they were rooting for a self-admitted genocidal maniac and that felt uncomfortable. (I also recognize people dislike the ending because of structure and writing, that's neither here nor there.) What I will say I would've liked to see is a paths scene for Levi, similar to Mikasa and Armin, where he and Eren just get to lay it all out. I think Levi is the character that would be the perfect conclusion to the story's philosophy. Eren got off too easy with Armin and Mikasa, but Levi would've been the person to really lay into him. Levi's entire philosophy and life experiences would've broken down Eren's entire world view to the bone in such a perfect way. He's seen the worst a class divide can cause and has such a compassion and empathy for people. Where Armin placed part of the blame on himself, Levi would've admonished and condemned Eren in the harshest, realest way possible. But I also think, like Armin, he would've learned to make peace with what has been. He would still force Eren to take responsibility of his atrocities to the grave, but he'd at least be accepting, both of the good and the ugly, that this is the outcome they all fought to achieve.
There are parts of the ending I dislike, but NO ONE talks about them because whether someone liked the ending or not always revolves around the Eren discussion, and since I think Eren's part was absolutely fine, I don't want to be on the Eren's-character-got-messed-up side. And they all usually source a video they saw online about how the character was supposed to be, which I believe is due to a follow-up on how they felt on the ending being confirmed through it, but it's always a video about how Eren "didn't have a choice" or "he was always violent especially when he grew up not stupid" to "confirm" how the viewer felt about the shock of the contrast in his character at the end. I particulary don't like the fact that due to this, they all call the ending terrible, while I'm here thinking I'm being objective and fair by not saying it's the greatest due to other factors unrelated to it, it's almost exhausting to the point I don't want to, or even have to, defend the unrelated points. Nothing else gets brought up most of the time, which has solidified on me just going ending-defender side. The more I see ending hate the more I think my problems with it are superficial. The more I think ending-haters hate the ending for the wrong reasons. Not to say I don't understand how they get there, I can see it being clearer, but the longer I think about it the more I think it wouldn't have mattered because there's already a TON of hints that they just ignore anyway. Also, about the Levi thing, I don't think he could've done that, because Eren could only hang around Mikasa, allegedly, because it was happening in real-time. He couldn't be with 2 ackermans at the same time unless they shared a room, I think. Unless he wanted Levi to retain that moment at a certain point before the final moments. My lore is rusty but I think that'd be the problem.
@johndinner4418 I don't think the ending is perfect either. It's satisfying but there's a lot that's left up to interpretation that I would've preferred be addressed (Ymir). And the reason I had that idea about Levi is because we've seen Eren can communicate with him via Paths as well. At the start of the the Rumbling and the plane ride to Eren. Whether he could erase his memories or not is up in the air but you could easily write that to be taking place at the final strike. Maybe that's what motivates Levi to go goblin mode for that final thunder spear
@@maubpp Yeah, Ymir, Historia and Mikasa plot points could've been further developed or cleared out, imo. Well since we attribute mikasa to be the one to have the meeting at the final strike, he would need to talk to levi either before mikasa or after, probably before, and that'd be kinda awkward for Levi to go "Eren talked to me, wtf" lol
i loved it . ill come back again after gathering my thoughts , i know that you understand this. I loved how you explained every thing there that i have been thinking since the manga ended. You gave the message most no 99% of people ignore . i'll come back with armin's and mikasa's persona and how i feel it's eren's fate loved it
Excellent breakdown brother, thoroughly enjoyed the video and agreed with what you said. Its why I love this anime so much, you can learn so much about personal anguish and the decisions people make. Thank you for your hard work!
Man its refreshing to finally see someone recognize the tragedy in Eren instead of writing him off as a chad or a virgin. AoT for sure wasn't made for the 13 year olds base it attracted. Heads up, neat video
I just finished this masterpiece last week and I was super pissed on how it ended. This has been my favorite video of a deep dive breakdown on Eren's character as well as the other ones. I wanted another ending. I even went to bed pissed off lol.
editing on this was fire and music mixing made me wanna rewatch AGAIN (seen the show maybe 10+ times atp) i mostly agree with your points, not 100% of them but overall good vid for sure and i appreciate the time/effort it took and how you articulated everything, big W video
I remember watching the conversation with Armin and Eren, and when he broke down and started crying I felt so relieved that he was actually in there the entire time. Seeing people arguing it was character assassination had clearly not been paying attention. The boy had been a big cry baby since the beginning. Always crying and screaming. This was Eren and I was so happy to see him be honest with Armin who knew him best of all.
Damn this was a really good breakdown of what happened to Eren’s character. You mention things I haven’t thought of when watching it personally. Great video
damn, bro you are underrated as hell, good video, and good analyse, the only thing that i would have mentionne is that eren is not special like you said but also not normal at all, and that his freedom come from his own nature, desire and his will, this is this nature that made him have the attack titan, where users have a great sense of freedom, eren made that path by himself and reach for the attack titan, i wouldn't say only that is his power is a curse and he is forced to follow that fate, but that eren would have follow that fate because of his own nature and desire, and that the aot world doesn't really have a different timeline where things can change, it's a timeline that was determine already and that cannot change, Eren would have destroyed the world even if he didn't have that power, but he made the needs to be able of doing so, in the school cast aot manga made by Hajime Isayama, we can understand a bit more of eren character and nature with this, so the in the school cast of aot we can see Eren a typical "normal" student that is very bored with his life, he even says that if "nothing happens, why don't he provoke it then ?" Eren wasn't really normal to begin with, but he wasn't neither special but his determination of freedom and free will were very strong and simply idealistic, like a sturbborn child, isayama was also inspired by a book that talk about the nature of a murderer, is it the murderer fault to be born like this ? and does being a murderer in his own nature ? Anyway again great video and editing, i hope you are going to make more and especially on shingeki no kyojin, hope this video get more views cause this is brillant work there, it would be cool if you explain in a video about the Attack titan power and how does it work precisely, because there is many differents though on it, and also what does the mirror scene with Eren saying "tatakae" really mean, this could be a good video i think. keep up the good work man !
I'm excited to watch this video as the two popular narratives of him are "gigachad" or "he's a fascist which makes the story fascist." Both are extremely inept analysis. There's so much material in this story that illustrates the nuance of his character and his development is closer to how most people would behave under his circumstances than they'd like to admit. People want to imagime themselves as singular beacons of good decisions and holders of All The Right Ethics, but let's put anyone in the worst conditions imaginable as a child and let's see them not grow into a hateful monster who hurts as many people as possible.
You did a great job, I love this!! I've been obsessed with snk for years now and it's really frustrating to me when people misunderstand the story and the characters. I love your take on Eren, Gabi and Reiner, thank you for pointing out that through Gabi and Reiner there is a positive message to Eren's character as well.
I finally finished the Anime last night, and my initial response was "Okay, so we're just excusing Eren as a force of history, rather than someone with agency?" It felt problematic. This video has helped me reframe the ending.
I promised I wouldn't cry watching this... I failed. 😭♥️ Great video! Thanks for this thoughtful breakdown, agree with what you said. Could you MAYBE do a video on Gabi and Sasha? More focused on why Gabi's character was hated aggressively by the fandom/community? You mentioned some great points about Gabi in this video which I love, but thought that would be a good topic to talk about? I understand why Sasha had to be the one to die, it's like Isyama took out the scouts light, laughter, or hope. It all became too serious and real for all of them after Sasha's death. I do fully understand and respect it even tho wish she didn't have to die. Anyways sorry about the long comment haha. Subscribed ♥️🇵🇸🕊️
Thank you so much for this comment actually one of the best ones ive ever got YOU made me tear up thank you!! Free 🇵🇸🕊️!!! I feel like i put most of my thoughts about gabi in this video so im really sorry but i dont think i can make a full video just on them😔
@@Ace_D Ofcourse man, now we both crying haha 🥹♥️ keep it up!! No worries just a thought, still can't wait for more videos of you. I think Gabi is a very well written character and explained in such a short amount of episodes, people are just blinded by their love for Sasha and they won't admit it. (Which I get I do love Sasha and hated Gabi before I understood her, god I love this anime lol)
13:00 lowk this is why aot discourse will never come to any agreement (ironically like paradis v the outside world). you say eren had a childish narrow view of freedom that is basically wrong. why in chapter 90 does eren think of his aunt getting eaten by dogs when thinking of the "freedom" the outside world possess. we gotta stop using flashy lights and colors to distract us from the cold hard fact of the story. eren wanted to be able to live his life the way HE wanted. he wasnt searching for mental freedom or had a short narrow view of freedom or anything. he simply did not want to be caged in with a guillotine over his head. i also dont like the fact you keep saying "he became the adult version of that simple minded child". this just runs completely antithetical to the context of the story. he did the rumbling to ensure his friends safety, his island and people get to survive, to end the cycle of hated and children being forced to eat their parents. all of these things arent childish so idk why you keep boxing eren in to this word.
@timrosswood4259 no, it's reasonable when Marley planned attacking Paradis for a century. That's his defense and how would you talk to the people who are literally trying to kill you? The world hated Paradis for their Titans that killed a lot of men, and so hatred continue to their descendants. And it's valid that Eren can't accept that when people hate him and his own people for simply existing and they are planning to eradicate them. If you say that Eren is childish, shouldn't you say that to the alliance as well, when they killed their comrades just so they can "save" the people from the rumbling? It's hypocrisy.
@@timrosswood4259 so in chapter 99 & 100 when eren was talking to reiner saying "forget what i said about making sure you guys die horrible deaths. i understand youre just a victim to the world. youre not evil, neither am i, we just keep moving forward." is that black and white?????????? the mc out of his own mouth in chapter 100 page 24 literally debunks this claim of "childishly only seeing black and white". and yes his friends theoretically would be free to live out the rest of their lives if they allowed him to do the rumbling
I hope this doesn't sound stupid or taken the wrong way, but I can personally relate to Eren in many ways. I can understand his pain and suffering, but also his need to be better or do better. Also, his feelings of being trapped and isolated. Yes, I know he actively pushed his loved ones away and made things worse, and he should have handled it better and sought help. But that doesn't mean a person can't relate to his feelings and even feel bad for his character and what happened to him even though he brought it on himself. Loving Eren or showing him sympathy/empathy or understanding the reasons why is not the same as supporting his actions, which I do not. But I absolutely feel for his character a lot, probably more than I should.
Wow. Thank you. I could only explain parts of this to my friends, this was an amazing breakdown of it all. And also including the author's thoughts as he was writing the story... Amazing
Rewatching AoT because I didn't appreciate it as much the first time. Eren is the best "normal" kid soldier. For the final rankings before graduation you have Mikasa, Reiner, Annie and Burrito then Eren--in other words, an activated Ackerman and 3 Marleyan trained titan shifters. Doesn't negate anything said in this vid, but just underlines that perhaps he really was the best compared to his actual peers.
So since you brought up his crying, which I think was within his character. Personally, I think his crying was a mix of many things it wasn't just about Mikasa. But do you think he actually loved her or do you think it came out of nowhere like many do?
I still refer to the moment in ramzis tent when he's right next to Mikasa and the way he looks at her. I too agree he might not necessarily "love her" because he never says that in the entire story to begin with (contrary to popular belief). I think it's more a reflection of what he doesn't want to lose anymore, he doesn't want to lose her, whether it be love or not, but I do think there are subtle moments where he begins to care for Mikasa more then just his adopted sister. He sees strength in her and knows he is the one thing she cares for more then anything, hell he even helps her through a lot of this, pointing at the contradictions between her feelings and reality in many ways, but she was always there with him, protecting him and caring for him, and now he's about to die before he ever got the chance to do or say anything about it, and he's dying alone. Its funny, but it reminds me of the scene in season one after Carla is eaten. Eren says this "it's gone, all gone...I never even got a chance to say I love you (referring to his mom)."
due to how ambiguous the ending was at times, i feel like the quality of it was affected by how i saw it. matter of fact, i never had any problems with the story aside from how they portrayed eren, but this made me see his case differently. peak video.
@@Ace_D Bro when did Eren find out he would be stopped? When he touched historia at medal ceremony or when he touched Ymir in paths and gained control of paths? Has Eren plan all along to be stopped by his friends?
@@romy3332 the guy explained in the video that eren never stopped trying to derail what was planned. eren always hoped his friends would stop him in the end but its not clear if he knew they would do this. ultimately i think this video forgets that the original attack titan was ymir as she had the power of all 9 titant and as such eren and ymir have a link which led her to poison erens mind and coerce him to do what he did. in my opinion and thi is just a theory based ont he last few scenes where ymir and mikasa are face to face, i think ymir needed eren and mikasa to do what they did so that se can make the right decision 2000 years in the past and not take the spear for fritz and not allow this timeline to occur
@@gn.punpun I heard another channel say that, only it was because she wanted to see a future where Mikasa and Eren would have a happy life to motivate Ymir into not taking the spear, which was thrown by a Marley traitor. Always those Marley asps.
Wow, I absolutely loved your video and I'm so happy it got recommended to me! It sums up and explains Eren's story in a way that helped me fully understand and appreciate it. The editing is also really good. I subscribed and hope more people see your stuff. Good luck and free Palestine!
The video and editing were lit bro 🔥🔥 Really loved the way you talked about similarity between eren and grisha I would suggest you to watch uncle huss's videos regarding eren, anakin and other cautionary characters they are really good Between this video is very underrated
4:15 I think regardless of the holder, they’d have had the same drive. The way King Fritz cursed future founding holders, Eren mentally would have driven previous holders. Even if they don’t receive his memories, the effect on Kruger and Grisha alone will pose a domino effect. For example, for Kruger to get where he is at, he must also effect previous holders
8:07 Honestly, I don't think that the hand that Grisha stabs has any inherent symbolic connection to when he grabbed his sister and led her outside the internment zone, since it's technically a two-handed action. One hand stabs, the other gets stabbed, meaning both are important here. If it were reversed, it would simply change from "the hand that gets stabbed is the same" to "the hand that he uses to stab himself is the same" meaning that the exact hand that he used doesn't matter here and therefore doesn't have as strong or direct of a connection to anything else.
Nice interpretation of Eren's character and arc. The only thing I find inaccurate is people describing The Rumbling as unnecessary. The situation between Paradis and the rest of the world mirrors real life Cold War. The US and the USSR were locked down in an indirect conflict because neither could trust the other with nuclear power (warheads, mainly). Similarly, the entire world had banded together (thanks to Marley) to basically destroy Paradis. Had Eren not started the Rumbling, him and everyone on the island would've died. That's the ending where he "escaped his fate". His entire ethnicity dying or continue being slaved and used as instruments of war.
If you noticed in the video I mention a full-scale rumbling. Meaning the intent of whipping everything away. Personally I think if he just activated the titans and made the threat feel real and showed the enemies that he has power. Only that way will the peace talks have been able to happen. I agree that sometimes violence or mainly the threat of it is needed to achieve peace
And as I've argued profusely, Marley's perception of Eldia and paradise which led to a proclamation of war was SET IN STONE because of the results of the battle for shiganshina in season 3. This is also before the basement, before knowing about paths and the attack titan, before memory manipulation was known, before all of this. A reaction created another cataclysmic reaction that needed to be answered. But everyone seems to believe it was Eren, when in reality, Eren just went along with the performance of the war hungry hatred in Marley, and chose to fight back against it. Season 3 part 2 is arguably the MOST pivotal moment of Attack on Titan which led to its inevitable conclusion.
@AM17titan They expected it but Willy would have declared war anyway because of the results of season 3, go watch it again. It isn't just Eren being there that stirs up problems. Willy would have continued his speech if Eren didn't attack them at Liberio. Yes Willy was waiting for him to strike BUT, that is because again, the resulting consequences of season 3 resulted with Marley choosing these tactics. It's all there.
@@joshholleran9005 they were just having discussions and paradise operation was on hold but zeke pressed them this is said by hange on the blimp and EVEN BY MARLEYS COMMANDER (THEO MAGATH) AS WELL in s4 ep6 because he was confused as hell on why paradise/eren are even attacking them because now basically the whole world knew that paradise is an actual threat and needs to be eradicated or they will be eradicated its live or die situation for the world as well at that point and also i think you misunderstood the fact that in s4 ep6 opening scene it was reveled that WILLY PLANNED ALL OF THIS he knew paradise will attack him then and there when he declares war but if they attack him then his bluff of paradise being a threat would have been confirmed real ! Armin and others didn’t knew about this because you can even see in s4 ep17 that yelena and olyankapon were themselves surprised that Marley attacked with so much force even though their highest ranked military officers were destroyed in liberio by eren and Marley achieved these much force and backing only because the world supported them as paradise was seen a serious threat And when Hange questions zeke and eren’s actions on the blimp in s4 ep8 Zeke literally said ‘they did this to destroy the Marley’s highest ranked officers’ lol So yea….it was all planned by willy
When Eren broke down like that at the beach in Armin's mind I was so happy. I was like, there's that pathetic crybaby i know and love. I thought it was pretty clear he was putting on this mask the whole time. anyway great video. I hadn't thought about everyone seeing their successor's future except for Eren, who could only see his own.
I don't think the inheritors of the attack titan were predetermined. I think that the desire for freedom inherited by the power will seek a next inheritor that already has those traits. That made Eren's extreme desire for freedom "attractive" to Grisha as the next inheritor. But no one had the unquenchable thurst for freedom quite like Eren did. That's why Eren was the first in 2000 years to finally have the ability/traits that lead to free Ymir.
Just to point out that it was easier for rainer and gabby to change, they didn't have literal future visions telling him what was going to happen and feeling like trying to change anything is pointless.
this may correct a few false narrative but it doesn't change the fact that the primary impetus and mystery of the show reduced down to "because the magic spaceworm made us do it" like ok sure its ironic because eren was trying not to be a slave... but that doesn't make it a good ending, it is still completely contrived. any story could suddenly pull a "ha! it was all an illusion! don't you feel silly now?" but you better do it well or people are going to rightfully feel like the whole story was pointless and the characters have no agency. AoT just didn't do it well, they needed more time. still a great show overall though.
This video isnt about the ending as whole it's just about erens character. The video I'm currently working on I'll be talking about the ending as whole
That’s not what it boiled down to. It’s very clear that Eren wanted to do the rumbling which is literally what he says. The space work didn’t make it him say it at all, that’s not the point. Eren’s see a future he can’t believe and is guilty about but he can’t deny himself and his true desires.
I just realized that Eren ordered Grisha to go to Reiss Family because if they went to that basement that exact day they could've been trapped ,thus changing the plot of the story. that's why Grisha exactly said "I will show you the basement after i come back home".
First off, im an ending hater. Im one of those people who hated how eren was written in the end (specifically just the parts where he was revealed to have spoken to his friends one last time). If ur wondering why im here, its because its only correct of me to see other view points to my opinion. Im not one of the ending haters who thinks aot needs to end sad or cannot be positive. I just dont like all the retcons (yes i said retcons) the ending made. To start, lemme say what i dont hate about the ending. 1) eren being able to open up to armin and breaking down is a very good scene (its what he says i hate) 2) while i would've preferred everyone who became titans die (because i was genuinely shocked isayama was gonna kill em off) i think its alright that they survived 3) the Stockholm syndrome of ymir is ok 4) everything before the reveal of eren talking to everyone and everything after is still peak aot Now heres what u dont like and i want people to ACTUALLY debate with me about these aspects 1) saying mikasa is the key to everything and refusing to explain it is stupid. You can have the characters not know why mikasa is the key but u cannot do that to the audience 2) mikasa returning to eren's grave WHILE SHES MARRIED IS A TERRIBLE DECISION 3) eren being SO "in love" with mikasa is not in character for eren. He can like mikasa (it was foreshadowed in the previous special) but being this incel about her is out of character 3) eren is the villain yes but he isnt an idiot. This entire operation was well thought out by eren and dont like how hes suddenly supposed to be this hot headed idiot who suddenly has god like powers who misused them. 4) being revealed that eren saw into future and made it so that he wanted to look like the villain and his friends look like heroes is basically retconning everything that had got to do with him wanting to save eldians from racism. Also, if he could see into the future and wanted better lives for his friends, why did he kill hange, flotch, jean and connie(for a moment) in the first place? Its all plot holes.
Will definitely recommend this vid when i cant properly explain the story & ending cuz my grunt brain cant properly articulate words as u did😅 Thanks a bunch for this breakdown. P.s. I loved eren all the way thru & became so bum/conflicted the way he turned out, like, aw man bro dnt do this to me🥲i know u in so much pain. Imo This story made it to b as memorable as DBZ, Naruto, OnePiece & many others i cant fit into this.
Bro when did Eren find out he would be stopped? When he touched historia at medal ceremony or when he touched Ymir in paths and gained control of paths? Has Eren plan all along to be stopped by his friends?
I think it's not really set in stone, however the way I interpreted it was that he wanted them to stop him but if they didn't he wasn't going to stop. Like the number 80% I don't think he saw it in the eda ceremony.
@@Ace_D But we see Eren talking to Historia and Floch in ep28/chapter 130 that was before he met ramzi so I wanna know if Eren had an idea he would be stopped so why did he lie to Historia? He was using Floch so that’s I know but he told Historia to end the cycle of hatred and kill everyone and he kept saying he will keep moving forward until he destroy his enemies to Reiner as well so my question is why did he lie to Historia or tell her that he intend to be stopped ? When did he plan to be stopped ? Did he want to do 100 percent before but planned to be stopped for some reason and when did that happen? He told Armin he pushed them away at table scene so they would oppose him and to be seen as heroes .. was that a lie or he was saying truth? It’s it’s true then it would mean he was planning al along to be stopped by his friends?
@romy3332 so in my opinion, I actually dont think he knew he would be stopped. I dont want to promote someone elses video but there is one called "This video will change how you see erin" and I watched it yesterday and im watching this one today. I really like them both, I don't think they contradict each other at all besides when in this video he says Erin knew Sasha would die. In the other video the man talks specifically about what Erin knew from when he kissed historias hand and he isn't shown everything. If I remember right, Erin kisses her hand and he gets all the memories from Grisha. So future Erin decided grisha would have certain memories but wouldnt show him everything that is why he begged to be shown more and so when past Erin kissed historias hand he didn't get ALL of the knowledge from the future, he saw that he would get his "freedom" but not every step it would take to get there and not that he would be stopped. The video goes in much more detail and I highly suggest you go watch the part about what Erin learns when he kisses her hand, I think it is time stamped in the video.
@@romy3332also at the end of the video he breaks down every lie erin tells people. I think that video answers a lot of questions you posed in your comment. I recommend watching it all but it is long. I'm also not done fully watching this video so they might contradict more but I saw your comment and had to say something because it felt relevant.
@Doomhex523 I saw that video and very much agree with it but i personally believed even if he didn't know he would be stopped he had already planned to be or wanted to be stopped by his friends prior to getting full powers of rumbling. But the video says he intended to do 100 percent rumbling I don't agree with that because eren clearly says to Armin that he pushed them away so they could kill him.
As a huge JRPG fan, I kept on expecting the story to turn around, I kept expecting the rug to be pulled out from under us with Eren's memories of the past and to pull a Xenoblade 1 with a "the future isn't written" bit. As season 4 went on I kept on hoping that something would happen to allow the happily ever after endings common in JRPGs, and I held onto that right up until Eren rose from the Colossal Titan nuke crater as another Colossal Titan. When Eren kept on fighting, even after the Rumbling was stopped, I knew that all possibilities for a happy ending were gone and Eren had to die (still didn't make the scene where he did any easier, lol). This video kind of sums up why I love the show, I love how Eren followed the typical JRPG protag progression up until season 4 where all of that character progression gets destroyed. I initially disliked this, but when I reexamine the show, I can't even say it doesn't make sense; the show had set it up that way from the beginning. So, thank you for the video, I'm super excited for anything Isayama may do in the future.
tbh i find it way too funny when people make breakdowns of eren BUT SOMEHOW DOESNT EVEN FREAKING INCLUDE THE REINERS CONVERSATION LOL WHERE HE SAID 'I AM THE SAME AS YOU REINER' JUST understand reiner and him confessing he broke the wall not because of environment but simply because he wanted to be a hero and YOU WILL UNDERSTAND EREN
I thought the attack Titan always striving toward freedom, was because Erin has been able to influence all of the previous attack Titan going all the way back to the first one.
You'd be messed up seeing your dad's memories through his eyes. So Eren saw himself giving his dad a pep talk through his dad's eyes but wouldn't initially recognise himself because of the age gap then you'd piece it together and think oh wow
From the start, we follow a normal Eren, who discovers, evolves, can make mistakes. And after we see the one who shares Ymir's power. The all-knowing child whose will created the events we saw. "Omniscience has been used in various thought experiments, including: -the “Laplace demon”, through which Pierre-Simon de Laplace explains his vision of determinism (in Philosophical Essay on Probabilities); -Newcomb's paradox, which involves a soothsayer capable of predicting the outcome of a player's choice. -and more generally, the difficulty of reconciling divine omniscience with human free will."
40 seconds in I like that scene it made him a real person. I’m sure many warriors throughout history knew what that must do and then they see the actual lives that have ended in your decision and the lives still to take I sure they are hurting inside but the path must be completed he saved the kid even tho he knew he would die he want Mika to say let’s runaway. He want a life but he had a power and a time limit
As someone that left the shoes feeling like I was robbed of one of the greatest crashouts of all time, after watching this, I feel like I understand what Isayama’s message. Great Video 🤌🏽
Idk if anyone else noticed this, but the track that plays when Eren’s mom gets eaten is the same track that plays when he transforms into the Attack Titan for the first time. Curious 🧐…
Considering that he was god from the age of 9 years old, forced to live infinite timelines in which the only way to save everybody was by “being the necessary evil” It’s indefinitely a false perspective for those who didn’t comprehend it. The Eren that we see from the first episode/first panel was already aware of the infinite futures. He played dumb the entire series, even as a child. Which if you review it a second time, you easily catch every single instance. Nothing is just happenstance, he has no choice but to “act” surprised as to achieve the future that he finally found. Which is why he “woke up from the dream” to then live it out. Again, how the first episode begins lol. He really could’ve just slaughtered everyone from the first second he wakes up as a child. Just running place to place consuming each titan wielder. But no, because of his father’s final words, he embraced the maturity and let them live modest lives until the last possible time frame in which it was time to act as the harbinger. We could’ve saw Eren with every single Titan ability as a merciless god. But the author wanted to portray that he only sought the “least” power necessary, on a neutral scale, to achieve the end goal. This is actually why he let Reiner and the other wielders live. He didn’t need too, they weren’t even necessary components lol. The armored Titan alone would have easily made the difference for him to achieve the goal earlier. But it made no difference, because he already knew it would be achieved regardless. Once you flip the perspective, the only reason he let them live a second past his childhood years; is because they were actually the ones he wanted to kill him later. And in doing so, they understand that he was never actually evil. He did it for humanity and for them as he said the entire time. He went out as the ultimate martyr, with the most internal pain that a character could probably even hold.
As an anime only I was disappointed with the ending not because of the final conversation but the plot holes that the story created just to get to the most 5/10 final conversation i've ever seen
@Ace_D Eren being able to transform into a colossal titan despite losing his founding titan power (Aka the worm being detached from his body because of armin's explosion, and even if the worm had nothing to do with his powers, then how was he able to use it then if zeke was dead) and on top of that he was still able to use it to send a memory to mikasa to tell her he was in the mouth and I also don't know how Mikasa and Levi were affected by the founding titan despite being Ackermanns.
I thought the ending was good. Code Geass like ending is always solid. I'm just wondering where the spine creature thing that gave everyone titan powers came from. Could be a god thing, or an alien, I guess. If anyone knows, please tell me. Maybe I missed something. But besides that, I have no complaints. Eren's writing is great for a main character for sure. You did a great job explaining his writing and how amazing it was.
Don't you get it??? Its been said, that pursueing of freedom is somehow attack titan's ability, but! As we know, Eren, the last attack titan combined with coordinate abilities could alter all the previous attack titan users and show them WHAEVET HE WANTED. And it's because of Eren, that all those attack titans from the past were doing all just like Eren wanted, to get to the point as he is right now going rumble. :D
Really good Video, even though Eren himself said that he may still would've done The Rumbling even if he didn't know it would happen so maybe his are just an Metaphor for his Nature that he can't escape what do you think about this?

The problem with the AoT fanbase is that they lack a connecting sense of Empathy and do not allow themselves to understand EVERY perspective in the story, even the characters they "dont like" like Gabi for most people. This just causes a bunch of groups in the fanbase to call each other stupid for empathizing with certain characters as apposed to others. Its extremely childish... just like Eren's character, and its perfect honestly. The fanbase perfectly reflects the reality of the message that Isayama was portraying with AoT
100% I also find that a big problem is that people can't understand that a character can have contradictions in his actions and motivations
@@zaratahanagi4924 i fucking love when characters do some stupid insane shit but it still makes sense
He doesn't want to necessarily comit genocide bit since it's literally written into the pages of destiny that he will, and since he experienced the oppression and pressure to do it he feels like a part of him might as well embrace it
With the stomping of the butterfly symbolizing the disregard for life the rumbling gives, and the butterfly effects in the story
@@scubed9227hundreds of years of peace, no less
It was even more than hundreds of years. It was thousands.
off topic but the editing of this video is absolutely top tier!!! anyways i agree with everything you said, and i really do believe that eren is the best mc in anime and one of the best protagonists in fiction! this account is so underrated, keep up the good work
Thank you so much man Im trying my best!
I literally cried after finishing this video.this just reminded me how much I'm emotionally connected with this show's character and how much i miss it.Your breakdown was so on point it felt like isayama himself is describing what he was thinking while writing aot.editing was also amazing.love this video . I'll be sure rewatching this video time to time
Thank you so much honestly
Without even watching the vid - I agree. Most people misunderstand AoT and don't understand how world works. Nothing ever goes to plan, rarely do you actually enjoy life, misery is a must. Eren was an omniscient man, he spent thousands of years in the paths, unable to change the course whatsoever.
I ALWAYS felt that the Attack Titan was the wild card and it was Eren’s Destiny to acquire it.
Thank you I'm glad I was able to give u that!!
That's exactly correct
Sounds a lot like our world right now with the Muslims being oppressed and genocide across the world.
Man oh man love this take what I was hoping too see in this video but a l is a l

I watched Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Evangelion, Akira, Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent (a must watch psy-thriller), Death Note and many other classics, and i dont need to see 30 analysis videos to understand why they are well written from start to finish
caring for your people doesn’t make you a nationalist, and saying he was disappointed in the outside world also has SUBTEXT
That's really interesting I never thought of it that way!
this is actually brilliant, im of the belief he was basically a slave from the beginning a slave of ymir. He was getting dreams and things put in his head since he was born. He was up against a cosmic entity(ymir)
Grisha lost his genitals after being caught in Marley? Is this a manga only thing? Cuz that is dark
@@carlyparker4410 it looks like that in the Manga page where he's tortured by Marleyan officials. The anime censored it.
For some it did for sure. But there's still a large group of fans arguing about which genocidal group was right out there
Overall, I liked your video. There were a few things that I didn't agree with completely, but it could just be my perspective of the character and the story. I do appreciate that you took a lot of time making this video. At a later time I might give you my thoughts on this.
Thank you, I would love to hear them!!!
@@tjws255 ""People noticed the change but could never really help as Eren started to isolate himself and hide things from them."*
But when I also do believe that if u notice someone going through shit it's very important to reach out
Nice video, a panoramic deep dive into Eren's psyche.
Encapsulating editing as well :D
Thank you so much!
(I also recognize people dislike the ending because of structure and writing, that's neither here nor there.)
What I will say I would've liked to see is a paths scene for Levi, similar to Mikasa and Armin, where he and Eren just get to lay it all out.
Bro thank you
He's the main character and an interesting Character but not a very good guy.
He did a lot of wrong things that cannot be justified
i loved it . ill come back again after gathering my thoughts , i know that you understand this. I loved how you explained every thing there that i have been thinking since the manga ended. You gave the message most no 99% of people ignore .
i'll come back with armin's and mikasa's persona and how i feel it's eren's fate
loved it
Thank you so much, I Really look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Hands down the best Eren character analysis I've seen.
Thank you that really does mean a lot!!
Fax
This is a very good explanation of Eren's character. I don't know how this isn't blowing up
Excellent breakdown brother, thoroughly enjoyed the video and agreed with what you said.
Deeply thoughtful & beautifully put together. Thank you!
Thank you!
well done!!!! truly worth the time and effort.
Thank you!!
I just finished this masterpiece last week and I was super pissed on how it ended. This has been my favorite video of a deep dive breakdown on Eren's character as well as the other ones. I wanted another ending. I even went to bed pissed off lol.
Im really glad u liked the video, my next video is going to be about the ending
I love it when unknown channels drop an absolute banger of a video
the best Eren character analysis I've seen.
Thank you 🙏
I LOVE THIS VIDEO, thanks for putting alot of effort in to it
I'm glad you liked it!!
editing on this was fire and music mixing made me wanna rewatch AGAIN (seen the show maybe 10+ times atp)
i mostly agree with your points, not 100% of them but overall good vid for sure and i appreciate the time/effort it took and how you articulated everything, big W video
Bro why the fuck do people completely disregard his development? Both the monster and the whiner are the real eren
This video is honestly so insanely made. Thank you for making it!
Absolutely amazing work
Great video the editing was elite as well
Great video and awesome editing. Also, thanks for using your platform to help those struggling with the current “war”.
It's the least I can do....
Thank you for your work and heart. I enjoyed this very much and will show this to my wife (who started to love Anime because of AoT.)
Thank you I'm really glad u liked and hope that she will too!!
I'm excited to watch this video as the two popular narratives of him are "gigachad" or "he's a fascist which makes the story fascist."
Both are extremely inept analysis.
I'm glad my intro worked 😂😂😂, so what did u think??
You did a great job, I love this!! I've been obsessed with snk for years now and it's really frustrating to me when people misunderstand the story and the characters. I love your take on Eren, Gabi and Reiner, thank you for pointing out that through Gabi and Reiner there is a positive message to Eren's character as well.
I finally finished the Anime last night, and my initial response was "Okay, so we're just excusing Eren as a force of history, rather than someone with agency?" It felt problematic. This video has helped me reframe the ending.
I promised I wouldn't cry watching this... I failed. 😭♥️
Great video!
It's actually peak character writing. Isayama suffering from success with his characters fr fr🤣
It is childish, Eren's black and white thinking led him to believe commiting genocide would free his friends
I believe that being both past, present and future can create some paradoxes without forcing too much.
@@MrRirate that gimmick was introduced in the very last possible second in order to make eren lose his mind so u feel bad for him
I hope this doesn't sound stupid or taken the wrong way, but I can personally relate to Eren in many ways.
I totally get you it's one of the reasons I made this video
@Ace_D
Thank you. I'm glad that you did make the video. You did a good job, too.
Wow. Thank you. I could only explain parts of this to my friends, this was an amazing breakdown of it all.
And also including the author's thoughts as he was writing the story... Amazing
Amazing video! Thank you for your hard work!
I think thats the point though, he was the best of the mid.
Wow this is the best Eren brakedown I have seen so far.
Eren says this "it's gone, all gone...I never even got a chance to say I love you (referring to his mom)."
due to how ambiguous the ending was at times, i feel like the quality of it was affected by how i saw it. matter of fact, i never had any problems with the story aside from how they portrayed eren, but this made me see his case differently. peak video.
Thanks bro Im genuinely really glad!!!
Thank you!!!!
The video and editing were lit bro 🔥🔥
Really loved the way you talked about similarity between eren and grisha
I would suggest you to watch uncle huss's videos regarding eren, anakin and other cautionary characters they are really good
Between this video is very underrated
Already did watch it 😅😅😅
this is a great video. subscribed
Thanks man I really appreciate it!
I never thought Eren’s character was destroyed. By the end it’s clear he’s the same person as in the beginning.
Amazing video
8:07 Honestly, I don't think that the hand that Grisha stabs has any inherent symbolic connection to when he grabbed his sister and led her outside the internment zone, since it's technically a two-handed action. One hand stabs, the other gets stabbed, meaning both are important here. If it were reversed, it would simply change from "the hand that gets stabbed is the same" to "the hand that he uses to stab himself is the same" meaning that the exact hand that he used doesn't matter here and therefore doesn't have as strong or direct of a connection to anything else.
4 minutes in and Ive already decided to embark on my 100th re-watch of AOT
Season 3 part 2 is arguably the MOST pivotal moment of Attack on Titan which led to its inevitable conclusion.
i think you are missing the point where it was zeke and eren themselves who planned that thing about willy tyber announcing declaration of war
@@joshholleran9005 they were just having discussions and paradise operation was on hold but zeke pressed them
this is said by hange on the blimp and EVEN BY MARLEYS COMMANDER (THEO MAGATH) AS WELL in s4 ep6
because he was confused as hell on why paradise/eren are even attacking them because now basically the whole world knew that paradise is an actual threat and needs to be eradicated or they will be eradicated
its live or die situation for the world as well at that point
and also i think you misunderstood the fact that in s4 ep6 opening scene it was reveled that WILLY PLANNED ALL OF THIS
he knew paradise will attack him then and there when he declares war but if they attack him then his bluff of paradise being a threat would have been confirmed real !
Armin and others didn’t knew about this because you can even see in s4 ep17 that yelena and olyankapon were themselves surprised that Marley attacked with so much force even though their highest ranked military officers were destroyed in liberio by eren and Marley achieved these much force and backing only because the world supported them as paradise was seen a serious threat
And when Hange questions zeke and eren’s actions on the blimp in s4 ep8
Zeke literally said ‘they did this to destroy the Marley’s highest ranked officers’ lol
So yea….it was all planned by willy
That's what I was pointing out in the video
"how many times are you going to keep changing the thumbnail?"
this guy: YES
this may correct a few false narrative but it doesn't change the fact that the primary impetus and mystery of the show reduced down to "because the magic spaceworm made us do it" like ok sure its ironic because eren was trying not to be a slave... but that doesn't make it a good ending, it is still completely contrived. any story could suddenly pull a "ha! it was all an illusion! don't you feel silly now?" but you better do it well or people are going to rightfully feel like the whole story was pointless and the characters have no agency.
1) eren being able to open up to armin and breaking down is a very good scene (its what he says i hate)
2) while i would've preferred everyone who became titans die (because i was genuinely shocked isayama was gonna kill em off) i think its alright that they survived
3) the Stockholm syndrome of ymir is ok
4) everything before the reveal of eren talking to everyone and everything after is still peak aot
Now heres what u dont like and i want people to ACTUALLY debate with me about these aspects
1) saying mikasa is the key to everything and refusing to explain it is stupid. You can have the characters not know why mikasa is the key but u cannot do that to the audience
2) mikasa returning to eren's grave WHILE SHES MARRIED IS A TERRIBLE DECISION
3) eren being SO "in love" with mikasa is not in character for eren. He can like mikasa (it was foreshadowed in the previous special) but being this incel about her is out of character
3) eren is the villain yes but he isnt an idiot.
Since I can’t find anyone else doing it:
Eren bird is stupid
Thank you 😂
Thank you I the hate that isayama went through was not deserved He wrote one of the best protagonists and nobody appreciated it so thanks for this
Fr the amount of hate he got was just messed up. I will most likely talk about that in my next video
Will definitely recommend this vid when i cant properly explain the story & ending cuz my grunt brain cant properly articulate words as u did😅
Thanks a bunch for this breakdown.
P.s.
I loved eren all the way thru & became so bum/conflicted the way he turned out, like, aw man bro dnt do this to me🥲i know u in so much pain.
Imo
This story made it to b as memorable as DBZ, Naruto, OnePiece & many others i cant fit into this.
Thank u for watching and telling me this
How tf does this only have like 500 views
Maaaan 😭😭😭
Congrats on one million subs🥳
Thank you.......🤔🤔 I guess
Really liked this video 😭🙏
Awesome Breakdown! Eren’s goated imo.
Many a slave, none a master. Eren was too young for his undertaking.
You know a meida IP is beautiful when you have people talking about it like this. Wonderful video brother 💪
tbh i find it way too funny when people make breakdowns of eren BUT SOMEHOW DOESNT EVEN FREAKING INCLUDE THE REINERS CONVERSATION LOL
WHERE HE SAID 'I AM THE SAME AS YOU REINER'
JUST understand reiner and him confessing he broke the wall not because of environment but simply because he wanted to be a hero and YOU WILL UNDERSTAND EREN
Everyone is going to have their own take on the ending of AOT. For me the ending was really good but not great and I'm fine with that.
Serenity will see this videos like a vuluture and call you a clown
Who?
From the start, we follow a normal Eren, who discovers, evolves, can make mistakes. And after we see the one who shares Ymir's power. The all-knowing child whose will created the events we saw.
"Omniscience has been used in various thought experiments, including:
-the “Laplace demon”, through which Pierre-Simon de Laplace explains his vision of determinism (in Philosophical Essay on Probabilities);
-Newcomb's paradox, which involves a soothsayer capable of predicting the outcome of a player's choice.
Thank you im glad i was able to convey the msg!
"Eren bird is stupid". Man that picture was so funny I had to go back and pause it 😂
I’m pretty sure eldians would have all been killed if he hadn’t activated the rumbling
Idk if anyone else noticed this, but the track that plays when Eren’s mom gets eaten is the same track that plays when he transforms into the Attack Titan for the first time. Curious 🧐…
I don’t agree with every single small detail obviously but this is a great video and valid analysis
Thank you for being respectful
@ I like finding well articulated aot videos if I agree with them or not (I do mostly agree). So few of them are actually worth watching tho 😢
So with all of this said can we PLEASE stop saying the story/ending (especially) is garbage?!?
IKR!
Gee thanks. Now we need a video explaining this video and whatever message you had going on with your wall behind you.
Honestly though, great commentary.
It's the same as the video 😂😂
playing the whereabouts of light while eren finally accepts that he cant change anything is crazy
Wow u actually got the song, I felt like it fit I never played the game so idk the context behind it😅😅
Good video bro 💪💪💪
Thank you bro I appreciate it! 💪💪💪
Can u tell me what plot holes?
@Ace_D Eren being able to transform into a colossal titan despite losing his founding titan power (Aka the worm being detached from his body because of armin's explosion, and even if the worm had nothing to do with his powers, then how was he able to use it then if zeke was dead) and on top of that he was still able to use it to send a memory to mikasa to tell her he was in the mouth and I also don't know how Mikasa and Levi were affected by the founding titan despite being Ackermanns.
ua-cam.com/video/Gtgz-2IZV_s/v-deo.htmlsi=WhC7LkH1nDIkZjR1 there is also this vid I found explaining what I said in depth
You did a great job explaining his writing and how amazing it was.
you didn't miss something its never explained or even mentioned again. its just a good ol' deus ex machina.
Got it, thanks.
pure banger
