    Just wanted to say I appreciate how I see your comments on other You Tube channels that are just starting off and providing your input that is always helpful and informative. Other note my shoe of choice in the Salomon line is the S Lab Genesis, great shoe slightly wider toe box than other Salomon’s. 🤙🏽

      Thank you so much! That's greatly appreciated. I'd love to give the S/Lab Genesis a go as well. Seems that Salomon has done a great job with the Genesis line.

    Great shoe and I purchased a pair of these after hitting 200 miles in my Hoka SG5's. I wore the SG5's on my last 50k, through training, and as a recovery shoes. They killed it, but I put the Genesis on my foot and it was like a glove. Perfect in every way and it was because of your review I made the buy. I've run into a few issues such as rocks poking through the forefoot, the shoe takes forever to dry, and the insole is horrid when it gets wet. On dry technical runs under 15 miles I think they do great, but I'm seriously debating going back to the Speedgoat 5 or even the 6 for my next 50k and 50 miler. Your review is spot on and I truly do love the Genesis despite a few issues that are likely just me.... How about an SG6 review in the future? I'm also thinking of the S/Lab Genesis for a race day shoe or those longer mountain runs.

      Thanks for checking out the review and for your feedback! I should be getting the Speedgoat 6 once they have more inventory. Hopefully I can review it soon!

    Great review, I've been looking forward to that one. I'm a big Salomon shoe fan, and I see this one as an upgrade to the Sense Ride 5, which I love. Will be my next trail shoe purchase. Thanks Chad, well done!

      Big fan of the Sense Ride saga since its first version. I haven´t got the 5s yet, but with the Genesis it comes the question. I still think the Ride 5 would be good for daily runs and the Genesis for weekend, longer effort or exploration.

  • @JavierISampedroTNF
    @JavierISampedroTNF 6 місяців тому +1

    Definitely it got my eye with this new model, a good package for the price and all the features. I think in terms of durability should be good for 600-800km at least. I have put an average of 900 km with my previous Salomon Sense Rides, it could be a good companion the Genesis to the Ride.
    Your shoe rotation getting better and better :)
    Cheers!

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  6 місяців тому +1

      I think it would be a good companion to the sense ride, but it's certainly very good on its own. The Genesis will for sure last a very long time which really helps you get your money's worth in addition to its overall performance.
      Up next for review is the VJ MAXx2 and Altra Experience Wild trail shoes, and then a couple road shoes from Craft and Altra. I'm also expecting a couple new road shoes from Topo soon. Always appreciate your feedback and support!

      @@SeeChadRun it's awesome to get to review different kind of shoes, hard work too. I do have some new pairs that I bought months ago but didn't open yet, still I want to get one more trail shoe to add into my rotation and the Genesis would be a good fit no doubt.
      Love your content and also your Strava outings. Keep up the good work Chad!

    Nice looking shoe! This seems to compete with Sense Ride 5. The same 8mm drop. Wish the drop was 6mm (and 2mm more stack in the forefoot) though.

      I agree 100% on the looks! It would be interesting to compare the Genesis and Ride 5... Maybe I'll try and get myself a pair for a review.

    Doing a little leatherwork and watching a SCR video. That’s a good morning!
    The shoe looks really good. Salomon changing design strategy a bit this year, it seems. For the better! Thanks for the review - gotta comment for the algorithm! 😁

    Great job ! It really makes you wish to try it. BTW, I had very positve experience with Salomon shoes, so even if I recently switched to ASICS, these ones could be my next trail/hike shoes.
    Same applies to road shoes, which are IMHO the most underrated on the market ...

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  6 місяців тому

      Seems that their shoes and particularly their road shoes have been a little hit and miss (mostly in the midsole) in years past but they've always had amazing quality. In the last year or two, they've really made great improvements and are quite good nowadays. The Genesis shoe is definitely a lot of fun to run in and one that I recommend! Thank you for checking out the video!

  • @victorystone1984

    Seems like a great shoe. Only concern I have is Salomon has had an issue with some of their recent softer midsoles compressing prematurely. Have they dialed it in for this one?

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  6 місяців тому +1

      Time will tell but it seems that perhaps they have. I had a pretty good experience with the Pulsar Trail Pro 2 and I think these shoes will outlast those.

    THanks, great review, in fact I saw some great reviews passing by now. So i was wondering. Which trailrunning shoes are currently in your rotation? And why?

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  6 місяців тому

      Ha! That depends on what I'm reviewing. My favorite trail shoe in 2022/2023 was the adidas TERREX Speed Ultra (the older/previous version). I ran a 50k, 50 miler, and 100k in this shoe. Last year, I also enjoyed the Salomon Pulsar Trail Pro 2, New Balance Summit Unknown v4, and Puma Voyage 3 (each for different reasons). This year, I'm really liking the Topo MTN Racer 3 (likely the shoe I'll use in my up-and-coming 100 mile ultra race) and the Salomon Genesis. I'm not sure which one I'd choose if I had to ONLY choose one... possibly the Genesis for it's high quality build, but the MTN Racer 3 is nice for those LONG trail miles. I'm also planning to use the VJ MAXx2 in my up and coming 50 mile race for it's lightweight and nimble feeling (reminds me of the TERREX Speed Ultra but with more grip and a rock plate). Hope that helps! Feel free to ask more questions if you'd like :-)

    Great review, thank you. You said the shoe size is 9.5US but you didn't mention the length of your foot. My foot is 27 cm long and about 10.5 cm wide. Should I get 9.5US(27.5cm) or 10US(28cm)?

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  5 місяців тому

      My foot measures 27.5 cm. I went with a size 9.5 and that seems to be perfect for my foot.

    I like this shoe for technical. I tend to like the Ultra glides more, the genesis feels very narrow around the mid

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  4 місяці тому

      That makes sense. The Genesis is a bit narrow but great on technical terrain. Appreciate the feedback!

    This Salomon, La Spotrtica Prodogio or Bushido2 to replace Salomon IMPulse

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  2 місяці тому

      Great question! I've enjoyed the Salomon Genesis and La Sportiva Prodigio trail shoes. The Genesis is a solid all around mountain trail runner with a slightly softer but lively underfoot feel, while the Prodigio is a bit more responsive and protective (thank you rock plate) underfoot. I'd probably go with the Genesis unless you want a tad more toe box room and/or underfoot protection, then go with the Prodigio.

    Brooks cascadia 18 is similar to this... Bit confused which one to buy... Any suggestions?

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  Місяць тому

      I haven't ran in the Cascadia line up yet (I did run in and reviewed the Caldera 7) but from what I can tell, although both would be decent shoes, the Salomon Genesis looks to be more refined and has overall higher quality materials.

    what do you think of Salomon's quick lace system? I tried them on their other shoes and have mixed thoughts about them.

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  6 місяців тому

      I'm always afraid that I'm going to feel the thin laces on the top of my foot, but that rarely happens. All in all, I quite enjoy the quick lace system. I particularly like that it's easy to adjust and quick to tie or untie. Really have had no issues with the lacing system on any of their shoes.

      @SeeChadRun it's a local marathon in my country. They have ITRA points etc, but it's not one of the major trail event in my country. I'm mainly a road runner. Last trail races I had was a half marathon and a 32k race up the mountain. So this will be my first trail full marathon, and thinking to try on the smaller races first.

    hi Chad, which one do you prefer to run in for longer and technical trails; these Genesis or the Puma Voyage Nitro 3 and why?

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  4 місяці тому +1

      Both are very good and would be a great choice. I would probably lean towards the Salomon Genesis. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why, but for me, it's just a little bit more of a nimble fitting and performing shoe. Great question by the way!

    What would you recommend these or the vj max 2s

    • @SeeChadRun
      @SeeChadRun  2 місяці тому

      As more of an everyday trail running shoe, I would recommend the Salomon Genesis. It has a little more cushioning underfoot and is very protective around your foot. That said, the VJ MAXx2 is a shoe that I would prefer trail running in up to 50 miles.
