I was so happy to see this review come up on my feed. I’ve been following you through RTR and happy to follow you here. I’ve ran about 60 miles in the SLAB Genesis and love them. Like you, I noticed a great heel landing pad on descents which I appreciate. Kudos to Salomon because the 2-3 year old SLAB Genesis still holds its own very well in the market. Small piece of constructive feedback: I don’t think that the background music adds anything to the video. I would either tone it down a lot, or let us hear the sounds of nature and your running😉

Thanks, I do appreciate the feedback! I'm kind of experimenting a little bit.. in this one I actually clipped my new mini mic next to my sloshing water bottle which was not ideal... I was trying to drown that out a little 😂 But yea, lower is probably better

Great review (I'm amazed how you give your review while running :) I saw that Anton Krupicka preferred the regular Prodigio to the Pro for mountain/technical trail (kind of echoing your take for nimbleness with the Salomon S/Lab Genesis)

I didn't know that, but I could definitely see that. He's old school, and of course used to the traditionally firmer La Sportiva models.

Great test! Toporo mtn racer vs Alta awd vs hoka speed goat etc would be a fun test.

I've got the Altra Experience Wild, MTN Racer 4 should be coming out later this year. Good ideas.. one of those toeboxes is not like the others though 😂

Hi Mike! Great video. What do you think about A/B Arcteryx Sylan Pro to one of these or maybe Nnormal Tomir 2.0? :)

Trying to get a hold of Arc'teryx test pairs, but no luck so far. I did get to try Tomir 2.0 at TRE - it's better than V1, but not in the class of these two.

Thanks for doing this! I have the Slab and one of the many things that is great about it is the Light weight feel….would you say Prodigio Pro is comparable?

    • @HumbleRunning
      @HumbleRunning  День тому +3

It is lighter in the sizes that I have - 9.2 oz (262g) US 9.5 S/LAB Genesis vs. 9.6 oz (272g) US 10.5 Prodigio Pro. It doesn't feel quite as light and agile as the S/LAB, but it's comparable and much better than many other shoes. Between these two, going from the Salomon to the La Sportiva - you're trading a little bit of nimbleness and ground feel for a bit of extra cushion and more dynamic, runnable ride.

Genesis is way too narrow for me, and nothing the Genesis does I wouldnt do with the Tecton X3, and the X3 would do it better.
(just did hours of running in the Alps in the snow, with just merino socks in the tecton x3 it worked fine, traction was amazing, definitely the swiss army knife fore running for me)
I really want to prodigio pro, dont think i do need it too.
Tecton X3 in A/B to the speedgoat 6 (I know that is mean)
X3 to NF Vectiv pro 3
    X3 to Zagama 2
    X3 to Adidas Speed Ultra
    Caldera 8 vs Prodigio Max
    ow and:
Adios Pro 3 (glue a comfortable tongue from another shoe in) to Your fastest trail shoe on dry hard trails

Good comp ideas, have to wait for a few of those to come out. The stack height and PEBA foam of the X3 is way too big for me to consider it as agile and versatile as the S/LAB Genesis. But over longer distances... the cushion and protection is a BIG plus. The upper is not as secure as most, but sounds like you have a wider/high volume foot, so that would fill it out more and certainly give you a better lockdown. That's great for you as it's a super efficient shoe! I've seen other reviews say the X3 is narrow, which makes no sense to me.

@@HumbleRunning Yes the missing toe bumper is a thing, it hurts sometimes.
I'd seriously not know when I'd need the Genesis over the X3, I even put the x3 on to the hardware store..
And i pretty much dislike all Hoka shoes. (Disclaimer: I put a stabilising insole in it.. So i have my cake an eat it. Super lockdown, super traction, fast and bouncy but super stable)
For me stable during running comes from a shoe adjusting to the stones and builders and not balance and slide over it like a skateboard, therefore me a softer shoe can be way more stable than a harder shoes especially with the right insole and carbon rods (better than plates).
The prodigio pro seems to be a Caldera killer.
