Audi A4 Resonator Delete

- Опубліковано 6 вер 2024
- Fully stock 2013 Audi A4 with only the resonator under the back seats removed. Not too loud, not too quiet. No drone at all. Has a nice rumble at low rpms and really opens up once you kick it down. Best exhaust upgrade for the price! Only costed me a total of $50. (Shout out to girlfriend for stacking mad clips)
Feel free to Subscribe for more videos in the future!
I’m doing this tomorrow with my b8 a4. I’m super stoked for this. Thanks for posting one that actually was worth watching!!
Thank you, that means a lot! I’d love to see some videos of your car!
I just did it on my 2012 audi a4 and it sounds perfect, exactly as described:)
Eduard Cher Good to hear! Would love to see a video of your car!
Did u take out alll or just cut out the one and left the rest
@@dawsonluchene2769 yo you remember how much you paid? gonna do the same with my 2012
Just did this to my A4 B8 but took out both resonators. Sound amazing with no drone.
Jadson Prince Right on! I would love to hear a video of it
Video??????
Video
Jadson Prince yo! Do u have a video of it u could send me? Have a b8 and considering removing the resonator or res+muffler or both resonators but I’m concerned with drone issues. :(
Filip just did it to mine today. No drone sounds amazing, gets crackles and pops. Costed only $60 for me to remove 2nd resonator. Definitely recommend, instead of buying an exhaust which will cost 10x+ and will get the same sound!
Sounds sooo good! My stage 2 B6 A4 with AWE exhaust sounded very similar, but more $$.
Thank you!!!! That’s exactly why I wanted to just do this. For only $50, it sounds pretty decent😂 I would love to hear yours!
Im not sure which one I should delete! Resonator or the rear muffler xD
Thanks for the video! Sound nice
FiRsT465 If i were you I would go resonator first, then go muffler if you want louder. Just muffler delete doesn’t make much of a difference. Whichever you get done, make a video! I’d love to see what you went with
Wow Chris!!!! Glad to hear that your center resonator delete came out great!!! Looking forward to seeing more vids like this. F-er farts
The fart noise is sick, debating on doing this
So you know, it only does it when shifting at high rpm. Normal driving doesn’t do it!
@@crazybikerchris4811 question did you cut off the res closer to the back of the one closer to the front or both?
@@418ii closer to the back, it’s right around the backseat area!
@@crazybikerchris4811 gotcha👊🏽
I bought a ECS diffuser to my B8 A4 to fit the 4 tips so I have to something with the muffler, so I’m deleting the muffler and putting a Y and then 4 pipes, the thing is that I’ve seen many videos and the muffler delete is too quiet, and resonator + muffler delete is very loud and that’s just removing 1 of the 2 resonators, so I think I might have to buy a vibrant or magnaflow resonator + the muffler delete because I have to get a downpipe in the near future since I’m going K04, I just don’t want a very loud car because at the end of the day I don’t think this engine sounds very good and that’s the reason why I plan on getting a B9 S4 maybe in 2 years
Sounds like a solid plan to me! I just put my exhaust back to stock. The welds broke and and I was driving around with half an exhaust and it made the whole car vibrate. Make sure if you do it, do it right!
I did a 2 1/2in cat delete only and it’s awesome I’ve gained more rpm and power lol and now I can set car alarms off.
That’s awesome!!! I would love to see some videos of it!
i just bought the 270dollar one from ecs tuning lmao
Sounds so much better
Thank you!!
Heyy dude. I know I’m a little late. But it sounds amazing. Gonna do this to my q5
Thank you so much! Post a video of it when it’s done so I can hear it!
All you need now is bigger tips to enhance the sound :P
For looks too haha
Just what i wanted to see, thsnks i'll do this to my b8 2.0t soon
Paco_bl Glad you liked the video! I would definitely suggest getting it done!
Hi, Thank you for sharing the video, I just did a muffler delete on my B9, and the result is not as expected, it makes drone at low rpm, and very quiet at high rpm, I'm now considering put the mufflers back on and do a resonator delete, I would like to ask if you noticed any difference when the engine is under load below and around 2000rpm. Thank you again!
Just the muffler delete isn’t going to make much of a difference but I was surprised how much louder it was removing the muffler after the resonator! I’ve since gone back to just resonator delete and it sounds good. Fairly quiet but loud enough around 3k rpm to sound good
About to do this to my B8, interested to hear it in person with my intake and bov spacer
Kev that’ll sounds sweet! Be sure to make a video of it after, I have been wanting to hear that setup. I got my muffler chopped the other day too and sounds sooo much better. So if you want it to be louder and have a little meat to it, I suggest getting the muffler deleted!
Crazy Biker Chris did it drone and can u make a video?
nameless Evox Now with the muffler and resonator delete, it has just a tiny tiny bit of drone, but it’s only when you give it juice. I’ll make a good exhaust video of it soon!
Sounds amazing. What's the name of the pipe you fitted?
Just went to the muffler shop and they put a pipe on.
Does it drone? And is it a 1.8 or 2.0?
@@thatomogapi9419 it had quite a bit of drone. It was a 2.0. I wouldn’t recommend it now that I’m older, looking back it didn’t sound that good, just loud😭
I’m guessing your catalytic converter was also removed allowing the pops and crackles in this video?
JD Felder Nope! It’s actually only a resonator delete and that’s it
I don’t know if I wanna do this BecuZ this sounds like a fart can I want to make my a4 sound like an s3 I know it might be pricy but I don’t know how that would be done
Everyone has their own preference! If you find out how to make it sound like one, let me know!
Awesome sound man. Question: At standstill, do you have a rev limiter or can you rev to red line? I just deleted mine, however in park it wont rev pass 4k. When driving, shifting does go up to red so no problem there. I have the same year and make as yours. Wondering if a tuning would fix that?
In park there is a 4K rpm limited that comes from the factory. I’m sure there is a way to get rid of it with a tune but I’m not too sure.
Crazy Biker Chris thanks for the fast response. Eventually i might do a stage 1 tune but for now its kool. Yeah am pretty sure too. Thx man.
TrippleDMcke Heck yeah! I want to go stage 1 but for now I’m just gonna wait it out. If you decide to let me know, I’d love to see a video!
Crazy Biker Chris Kool. Will Do👍🏾
I just did this to my b8.5 a4. It sounds just like this. But it doesn’t pop by just revving while it’s in park? Like your?
For the video I was revving it just after starting it up. It Sounds good but it’s not good for the car
Lol I figured. I can’t stop doing that. Each time I’m starting the car I’m revving it. How bad is it for the car?
Hey, how did you remove the resonator exactly? Thinking of doing IT myself but ID rather not CUT my exhaust because the regulations in norway is so strict
Thanks
I just took it to a muffler shop and they did the work. I wasn’t comfortable enough to do the cutting and welding. I’m not sure how much it would cost for you, but they only charged me $50 and I would say it was well worth it to just have it done in a shop
hey i’m late as hell to this video but what made u decide to do the mid/rear resonator vs the front one.. trying to decide which one to cut and wondering which one u think sounds better
I watched a few videos and it seemed like the front resonator delete made little to no change in sound. Not sure how different it really is but that’s ultimately what made me go with the mid
@@crazybikerchris4811 front the few videos i can find that’s what i’ve been seeing as well.. thank u for confirming my decision… last question, do u know a good way to add the “pops”? will just cutting the rear resonator do it or is there a certain tune or something else to cut as well that makes them more noticeable
@@xxteep The pops in my videos are just because I was revving it right after starting. Bad for the car but sounds good for a quick video. Other than that the car didn’t pop while driving at all. There are tunes that will do it but I’m not sure which is the best
Big difference!
Doc.Cali It really did make a big difference! The stock is just so boring, having a simple resonator delete really opens it up and adds excitement!
@@crazybikerchris4811 I believe it. I have a a4 3.0 iv been thinking about doing it. This kinda was the cherry on top for me to just do it lol. Think I'm putting an x pip in place of resonators.
Doc.Cali Man that would be awesome! Be sure to get some sound clips of it afterward, I would love to hear it!!!
@@crazybikerchris4811 just subbed and absolutely will do a video on it. Some time this month.
Doc.Cali Thank you so much! That really does mean a lot to me! I’ll be sure to check it out!
Soud great m8, i have a4 2.0 tdi would like to know how it would sounds 😂
I think it would sound good! Go for it!😂
heya Chris, I just realised there are actually 2 resonators (before the muffler) on the A4. One is not far after the Cat and the other is somewhere half way down the car.im aware of off-the-shelf products, 034 Motorsport has made a kit to delete the front one and ECS Tuning with a kit that removes the middle one.Ive heard under people's experiences that deleting the first one sounds much better, even though the 2nd one is the larger and heavier one.which one did you delete for this video?, the one under the back seats would be the middle one?I know you mentioned the car was stock, and this may be a silly question (Sometimes, the placebo effect, due to hearing more noise may give you an impression the car is running harder and faster) but was there really any improvement in performance with this mod?
eeiko321 Thank you so much for finding the answer! I thought there were two, but I struggled to find anything about them. For the location, yes the middle one is under back seats. I didn’t notice any difference in performance. If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll do my best at answering them!
Crazy Biker Chris thanks, Its interesting that it didn’t improve any performance. Do you think you would remove the front one or say; remove the front and relocate it to the centre?
eeiko321 I really couldn’t tell much of a difference in performance because it’s only the center resonator that is deleted. It may seem slightly more powerful just because you can hear it more, but I personally couldn’t “feel” any difference. I am happy with what I have now with the center resonator and muffler delete. I’m really not sure what removing the front resonator would do. I haven’t found any videos that really show it good, but like I said, it’ll sound a lot more aggressive which will definitely make it seem faster.
I hope that answers your question! If you have any more questions, I would be more than happy to try and answer them for you!
Heya champ, over the weekend, I decided to do the same, remove a resonator.like you, I wanted a bit more sound as the OEM exhaust is just too quiet and quite boring to drive with. However, people I knew who had experience with the A4 advised me to remove the first one, just after the down pipe, due to a lot of the Off-the-shelf downpipe has the delete section.Basically, I was disappointed. Since I wanted some extra noise... after this it barely made much difference. I guess its because its the smaller resonator out of the 2... You barely notice it at all in the cabin, even with windows down... its only a little audible when you WOT..I should've removed the rear one like you did, would've probably given me the sound I am after.
I’m doing this tomorrow morning!...wondering if I should cut both out ???
Braden St Martin that’s completely up to you! For this video I only did the one, but I’m kind of wanting to do the other too. If you decide to go with both, I would love to see you make a video so I can hear it!
Are the pops natural? And did you delete both res?
I only removed the center resonator. The pops were just while revving shortly after starting the car
i have a 2017 b9 and i took out both resonators and left the mufflers and it's SO quiet bruh
i don't wanna muffler delete an audi tho
Haha I wouldn’t get rid of the muffler after both resonators. Might be a little too loud
Wait a second… Audi Mentor?
Haha, lady I bought the car from lived in Mentor
Small world lol. Btw this is a rear resonator delete right? My A6 is currently at Midas lol
@@ryan18462 sorry didn’t see your comment, but yeah it’s the rear resonator
Hi! What about the smoothing out of exhaust waves/pulses, for which the resonator is designed for. Did you experience any changes while driving? Any backfire or anything?
Gabor Balint the only thing that was really noticeable with it was that it’s of course louder, but there are some more pops and also the “dsg farts” are a lot a lot louder
@@crazybikerchris4811 but nice pops? Not the backfire kind?
Gabor Balint The only pops that really happen are when you rev it up parked. While driving if you let off the gas it won’t crackle, only while parked
@@crazybikerchris4811 I see. Well I guess I'll have to try. Thank you for the info!
Gabor Balint Heck yeah! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
Anyone done it on a tdi? Is the sound any bwtter?
Just the video I've been looking for! Is everything stock? Stock muffler and cat? Just the 2nd resonator?
Wow sounds great!
Rolando Navarro yepper! Only thing done to it in this video is second resonator deleted!
do the dsg shift farts get annoying? Like with the windows up? Also does it do that driving normally or only flooring it? Thanks!
Sorry for the late response! But to me they never get annoying, I love them. To answer the other question though, they only happen around 4500 rpm and higher so with normal driving, reaching about 3000 rpm, they don’t happen.
Ey bro do u experience rumbling noise or drone while on freeway?
Nope!
Did u remove the first resonator after the cat converter or the second mid muffler ?
The second mid muffler!
Do deleting these cause failed inspections?
No clue, I didn’t have to do any in Ohio

Do you reckon a tune would give a more aggressive sound with the res-delete?
eeiko321 Uhhh, it might make a slight difference, but I’m honestly not too sure.
It sounds really good bro.
So the car had a stock cat too?
eeiko321 Thanks man! Yeah, everything is stock in the car except resonator delete!
Did you get a check engine light from this delete?
Nope
Multitronic? Good sound!
David Olivier I’m honestly not too sure. If I’m thinking right it’s maybe tiptronic?
You have the tiptronic trans if it farts shifting
If I’m right ur car is Quattro. Then it’s got s tropic which is dsg
How did you do this for $50? Can I have a link to it?
I just went to a muffler shop and they cut it out and welded a pipe in place
Did you get a check engine light and does it drone ?
No lights came on. It’s loud on the outside but zero drone inside!
Yo did you just do a Reaignator Delete? That’s it? If you did other things to this what else did you do?
In this video the car was completely stock with only the center resonator removed🙂
Hi i have b9 a4 i want to do the same .did you have any performance issues how did you feel at low and high rpms
No performance issues at all! Idk if it adds any power at all but the noise makes it seem like it!
Hi Chris, just to make sure before I do anything.....is this the rear resonator, and the front is still intact? I like the sound!
Correct!
Is this a resonator and muffler delete or just resonator?
This is just the resonator delete
Where can one find a cheap pipe to replace the resonator?
I really don’t know. The shop already had the pipes
ECS tuning has one for about $110
How is the in cabin noise compared to stock? I’m getting the resonator delete on Monday and I’m wondering if it’s a decent difference or not? I’m hoping its noticeable!
If you’re looking to be able to hear it from inside, you definitely will! It’s not loud, but it’s also not nearly as quiet as stock. A lot of people are concerned about if they’ll be able to hear it, but isn’t that the point?😊 I would say that going from stock to resonator delete is the best change you can make!
Another question I have is that if I tell the welder to do a resonator delete on the 2nd resonator and say it’s under the back seat you think he’ll know what to do? Like the size of the pipe and cutout? I don’t know why I’m worried but just wondering.
Brock Buisker If you tell them to do the ones under the back seats they’ll know. When cutting it, they cut right before and right after it then weld in piping that matches the size of the rest of the exhaust. Nothing to worry about, it’ll be well worth it!!
Crazy Biker Chris alright thanks! Can’t wait! Is your setup the same in the video? Any performance mods?
Brock Buisker In this video it’s only the resonator delete. My setup now is resonator and muffler delete, and an IE cold air intake.
Hey what transmission do you have in your a4? Is it an 8 speed or 7speed
I’m pretty sure it’s an 8 speed
Is this ECS or custom fab?
I just had the muffler shop cut it out and weld a pipe in place of it. Not too sure on the pipe size but it’s whatever the size is of all the other piping.
where did you get your resonator delete
I just went to a local muffler shop and they cut the stock one out and welded a pipe in place
Hey man, love your car and the sound of this! I want to do this to my 2015 A4 and i’m just wondering how you did it for only $50? ECS offers a resonator delete kit for $150 ($136 right now because it’s on sale) and i’m just wondering because i’d obviously prefer to only pay $50. thanks
So sorry, I just saw this comment! I just went to a local muffler shop and had the guy cut it out and weld a pipe in its place. I don’t think many shops will charge more. Did you end up getting the ECS one??
Crazy Biker Chris No problem! I did buy the ECS one and I installed it myself. It’s awesome and i’m glad I got it. Next I plan on buying the Luft-technik air intake from ECS for the turbo noise it unleashes. I recommend you check that out if you haven’t before, there’s a few sound clips on youtube.
John Smith I ended up going with the Integrated Engineering intake! Since you’re looking for an intake, I suggest checking them out! Easy install and sounds amazing!!
