when a guy can tell you a joke in a guitar solo, he's an achievement in himself. I'm a big fan of Josh Smith as well. I admire everything about this guy, he's my reference for tone setup.

@@rickprice9839 It's not just Bach but a tribute to Jan Akkerman, the guitarist from Focus, who used the same coda in one of his 70s pieces.
Josh Smith is so good that to see him take a break and just smile at what Greg is playing is priceless. Such fantastic players. The drums and keyboards are equally great. Would have liked to have been there that night. I would have been smiling through the whole thing.
I bet the bass player is badass as well. Just not his place to show off, although he could if he wanted credit.

This is such an awesome performance on so many levels - virtuoso level playing, rhythm right in the sweet pocket, and so much fun. Besides its like a tele master class.
I went straight to the shed and cut my hands of with the belt saw....
I've had a private Skype lesson with Greg. He just blew my mind. The guy's so ridiculously good, he's in another galaxy as a player. And Josh keeping up with the 'Gristlemaster' himself... that's some heavy playing there, man.

They are all on fire here...IMHO Greg seems to have an unending ability to surprise and unleash musical, melodic, rhythmic profundity that I have never witnessed prior to seeing and hearing it being accomplished...to point that one wouldn't believe that the stuff was possible until it was.... On top of that, to be able to deliver the gift with the level of joy, humor and grace...it's $%^&*. mind boggling! Thank you for posting this!

Some awesome, unpredictable improv kicking in around 4:22. Everyone is having a good time, Josh is enjoying the gristlemaster's random cover lick diversions, ends up just letting him just run around the yard for a minute, then it settles into some more traditional, awesome call and response -- but still with some tasty outside elements tossed in. Fittingly, it winds down in true sasquatchian random fashion with some more unexpected cover licks tossed into the mix. Really entertaining and unpredictably delicious playing all around. For any working pro, I'm sure Greg is a delight to play with, but also a little bit scary - but in a totally good way! Top-notch musicianship all over that stage, btw.
