Got my zafira 2.2 in garage at the mo havin a drive shaft gaiter change was nice to be able to see wat is involved in the work so keep the videos comin well worth watching!
Brilliant vid mate I've got to change the drive shaft on me astravan , one question, is the gearbox oil filler hole and the level hole in the same position as the vxr? Appreciate if you can answer this for me !
Great video Martin, well worth getting another drive shaft, its not worth the hassle trying to split the joint and replacing the boot, they always pop off because you can never get them tight enough with all the grease everywhere.Look forward to more vids Martin soon. Cheers, Jeff.
hi mate do y have idea how to change starter ? have to temove the drive wheel for get a good acces to the boolt? or there is another better way ? thancks
hey bud can give bit of advice we have a sri vectra driver side cv boots split can i change it on the car still ir are they different now? iv not changed one for years now used the old uni cv boots that glue down the boot but not sure on these newer vectras! any advice would be great not sure in need to split hub for driver side ?
In my experience, it's far easier just to change the driveshaft. Check out my vid I done recently on the Corsa driveshaft gaitor and the hassle I had with that. ua-cam.com/video/EJt7TWgWHpM/v-deo.html Cheers Martin
For only a few extra quid it was well worth replacing the whole drive shaft. How can they charge so much for rubber boots? I'm keen to see some progress on the Triumph Acclaim as my old company used to make all the suspension for them. Did you get the head machined yet?
Nice job Martin, suppose it's different working on the mondeo, Bet your lads happy he has a nice mint low mileage Astra vxr as there getting harder to find. Just another question did you used to work in the motor trade or are you just self taught from doing all your own cars??
+Bevan Garner It's a nice car and very quick as well. I'm not a mechanic just self taught. Worked on cars since the age of 14 so it's been a good few years lol. Cheers Martin
Thanks ! Do you think this will fit the Astra mk5 turbo 2.0 Sri, it's the vxrs brother ( just different bhp ) same platform as Vxr? Relatively the same car, same gear box. Thanks
I would advise on the m32 gearbox putting 3l of oil in. preferably not the GM shit. Especially on the 1.9cdti which has same box as a vxr. Because these boxes are made of chocolate.
Great how to Martin and very clear instructions. I've seen many of your vids and all done under your carport Does your other half moan about the mess from the oils and overspray lol my Mrs would be nagging 24-7 if I kept doing stuff on the drive lol keep up the good work mate
cheers was thinking of just swapping it over too! i done a few when was into track days but no been for a long time cheers for the rply bud appreciated
8:14 min - you are just looking at it the outer ring the one that is near to the driver shaft can be pushed away and you can replace only the CV joint ...
That's a nice car! But weird nothing went wrong. No wrong parts? Easy job then. I'm bringing my Taurus to you when there are problems, I can make tea too.
retrorestore hey martin love ya video mate lm from australia and not many vxr's here we need to change both as our vxr steering wobbles at speeds 90kmh and over so im guessing it's the same principal for rh side drive shaft aswell
You could have saved yourself a lot of time by just removing the 2 wishbone bolts and pull the whole thing out of the way as one unit. Just for future reference
+Jay Dighsx The boot kit was a genuine Vauxhall part and the driveshaft was an aftermarket part Jay. Main dealers sure charge top dollar. Cheers Martin

+Andy K HI Andy, Yes, head machined, I did a vid on it. As soon as the Transit wheel is done i'll be on the Acclaim.

I gave them a call and they told me the item number. if you google their name, you'll find the number so they will tell you the right one.

Do you know what caused the driveshaft to get damaged ?
No I don't John,
Great how to Martin and very clear instructions. I've seen many of your vids and all done under your carport Does your other half moan about the mess from the oils and overspray lol my Mrs would be nagging 24-7 if I kept doing stuff on the drive lol keep up the good work mate

Another car fixed. How long did it take to do this job?
+michael jagger Probably a couple of hours Michael but It takes me longer as I have to allow for the filming.
Least its back on the road and saved alot of money on parts.

You guys said about £60 on the drive shaft and called Vauxhall and £532 for one??
You will pay that if you call Vauxhall.
Good one.
+spanermantim Nice straight forward job for a change Tim lol
how much would it cost for parts and labour?
Don't know bud, not been to a garage in years.
Bit late and I an in Australia but local mechanic here want $750 to change one inner boot or $990 to change the entire axle
First to comment :) got a nice cuppa tea ready to watch this one!
+The Savage Garage And me after editing it lol.

retrorestore cheers buddy keep up the great videos.... where is the best place in the uk to order these drive shafts mate??
You could have saved yourself a lot of time by just removing the 2 wishbone bolts and pull the whole thing out of the way as one unit. Just for future reference
Hmm boot kit 37.... 25 more for whole thing. That's a no brainer but I'm still scratching my head on how that pricing works. hahaha
+Jay Dighsx The boot kit was a genuine Vauxhall part and the driveshaft was an aftermarket part Jay. Main dealers sure charge top dollar.
