Dear Dirkson, I find your honest personal review of the cameras that you "make money from" so moving and one of the most passionate and true reviews of cameras I have ever known. I use a Sony mirrorless APS-C camera at this time, and it is only for one reason - to be able to use certain old vintage lenses, but I absolutely agree with you. The Canon EOS full Frame DSLR's are workhorses and at some point in time, I must get one of the 6D or 5D versions for myself. I absolutely like the idea of buying a camera that you can use for so many years ahead - batteries, etc, which takes great pictures and is ultra reliable, and one does not have to think of changing the camera body for a very long time. Unfortunately all Full Frame Canon DSLR's are intended for professionals, and are not cheap and rightly so, cos they are very well made from metal, not cheap plastic. I think the way to think about it even for the hobbyist is that these are somewhat expensive but very long lasting tools, that will be around for 20 or more years, and still working well. You have made a very convincing argument in support of Canon Full Frame DSLR's and I respect your positive opinion about these cameras. The only negative about them is that they are not cheap. In every other criteria except price, one cannot really complain about them. And yes they are not cheap but Canon also has some really good lenses with open apertures.

Love your video. A 6D Mark 2 and many other Canon cameras are completely suitable for the type of photography you do. It's a highly specialized professional field that you are an expert on. No one will dispute that. However there are other types of professional photography that are much much better suited for a Canon R5 or R6 then for example, a 6D Mark 2 or a 5D Mark 4. In nature photography there would be no comparison. The shutter vibration using a quality 500mm Canon telephoto mounted on a rigid tripod with a 5D Mark 4 could defeat optical quality of an otherwise outstanding lens. In this instance an R5 or R6 wouldn't do that. Photographic images and videos cover almost every field of human experience. That is why Canon makes so many types of great cameras and optics. There is a good reason.
Another awesome video. I'm a long time 6D user who recently purchased a brand new 5Ds for $1299 from B&H and I'll be using it along with the 6D for many, many years before I go mirrorless. The main reason I'm staying with dSLR's are my Canon L lenses and the fact that I don't want to invest in new RF lenses although I'd love to have the 600mm f/11.

The 6D II may be just right for you. It is as good as the R5 and R6 for autofocus and face detection with any AF lens. I also have the 5DS R which is great, but the 6D II is my favourite camera. I also have the RP and tried the R5 and R6 but the difference for what I do is not really that big when I look at the final image.
Thank you for sharing. You make beautiful photographs. I enjoyed this video, it is very informative. I'm looking into the EOS 6D Mk-II since I still have some EF & L lenses from the past when I used to do portraits & weddings in the early days of EOS DSLR's and with my Contax 645. I moved on to Fujifilm a few years ago but your video convinced me of the quality & reliability of the 6D.

The 6D II or Eos R are great options for budget Full Frame cameras with powerful photography features. The Eos R is better in Video and offers you more mount options (EF, EFS and RF), but I still use a couple of 6D II everyday - I'm now at 1.000.000 shots with the 6D II alone :)
Great review, thank you. I was pleased to purchase a 6D mark II for $800 AUD with 26,000 shutter count, a bargain. It takes great photos at a great price. 👌
Was wanting the Eos R but the 6d mk2 looks more value for money and this will be my first full frame..Excellent video! Can I ask what lens is your favorite? Thanks from Scotland ;)

6D II is a great camera, my favorite to this day. I love prime lenses, which is doesn't really matter. I would go for the 50mm f1.8, which gives phenomenal images with the 6d II. The 135mm L is also great for portraits outside. The 24mm f1.4 also great and cheap on the used market. The 20mm f2.8 is cheap and also great even for portraiture/people photography. I would not buy a zoom lens, but a prime lens, the would be my advise. and start with a 50 and you're ready to go!
@ Thanks. I have a 50mm 1.8. What other lens for you buy for landscapes, street etc? I was going to buy three 24-70 f4 as it has a macro mode.
3 роки тому+2
@@agrs1974 I wouldn't go for an f4 zoom lens, I would go for a 3 lens setup in total - a wide angle lens (20mm or 24mm prime lens), a standard (50mm lens) and a telephoto lens - if you like Macro then a 100mm f2.8 Macro (L or not L). That's it.
Ive had a 6D for what seems forever and am about to order the MK2. I love how you do self-portraits and would love to try that myself. Can you tell what model trigger/receiver you are using as it seems to work really well?
it be great if you could do a short video on how to set up the triggers on the 6D Mark ii.. I have the same triggers and not sure how to get them to work.. just got the 6D Mark ii, am hunting online for a how to video, thnx
Am considering this 6d against the rp. Love your perspective, you share many of the same shooting styles I am trying to perfect, I particularly love your edge frame on the post examples. I used snapseed to edit for a while my 1st year and it allowed this, is this possible in LRC? I want the traditional influence but love your modern version with the edge being transparent. Youve given me confidence to make my decision and have more money for better lens. My sport photography my suffer, its grown my reputation a lot, but it, yields no money and requires lots of time editing. -sean

I do the frame by putting the image into photoshop and draw the frame and then save the individual image. I do this hundreds of times, this is how I do it :) The 6D II is a better camera for me than the RP, if Video is not so important and if you want to use more EF lenses and not RF lenses.
I am glad you made this video.. Can you please tell me how i can make best use of the focus points. I dislike the fact that they are all cramped at the center of the viewfinder. When I take portraits, when I focus on the eye, there is a lot of space above the head of the model. Please help..I also see a lot of noise when shooting in low light Street photography...
4 роки тому+2
Thanks for your feedback :) I always use the center focus point and then recompose or shoot as you say and in Lightroom cut away the top of the image so there is not so much "headroom" above the head. But most of the time I use the Face Detection using live view which works as great in my experience as on the newest R5 & R6 (I speak from actual experience here).
It has a Mic jack? What Mic you had the best results with? Is 500 bucks used sound to cheap? Is it good for someone that just wants to master 1080 p? How would you rate the high iso 3200 or 6400 in concert low light situations?
Have you taken 600 thousand shots one the same shutter or did you need to replace it after a certain amount of shots? Great video

One 6D is at around 900.000 shots and now stopped working correctly and the other is at 450.000 shots. My 6D II lasted 947.000 until err 30 appeared which means I need to send it in to repair. I have never cleaned the sensor of any of my cameras which is crazy.
2023 - I just bought a "Like New" 6D mk1 from MPB with a 6 month warranty. €430 !!!!! it has 2,000 shots on it and came in original box. It must be bargain of the decade.
Once again an excellent hands-on review The only downside for the 6D and 6D2 are the lack of a 2nd card slot for backup, that would be the only thing making me use either my 5D3 or 5DSR for pro work. I think in a previous review you said you had never had a card fail. I have.
3 роки тому+1
Hi David, now in over 2.000.000 images since 2013 I've never had a card fail. I did lose one that I found some days later in the car below the seat, I feel that mistakenly deleting a card or losing it is more probable than a card failing, especially when you use the SanDisc cards. I have my cards in my jeans pockets all the time without any case, just like that and I use the same cards for many years and still never did one fail.
@ You've been lucky I wouldn't go onto a high paying job without an ability to back up throughout the day, either with 2 cards in camera or by swapping regularly & getting an assistant to download to a pc
@ you guys take so many photos😂😜 imagine doing this with film lol 😆 in 30 years worth of film I think I have maybe 3 to 4k pictures. When i used to do portraits for magazines 5 to 10 rolls medium format tops. About 100 photos tops for a good selection of 5 to 10 portraits submitted.
How are the colours on the 6D mark II compared to the 6D original, are they as good?
10 місяців тому+1
The Colors are kind of identical. I did shoot many weddings 2023 with both cameras and the files edit the same way. one preset to all images and they kind of all look the same (I used the 6D II and the RP but the RP files turned out way different, the colors didn't match).
No, never. I use focus and recompose with the center focus point and with the 6D II I use the face detection via live view that works excellent. AF quality this way is like on the R6 or R5, it's that good.
I was just gifted a 6d Mark II I'm so excited to get to know this camera, it's my first Canon so I have to get some glass for it as I only have the nifty fifty for it at the moment.

The 6 DII is still great, I still use it with the R6 II for Video. I would pick up a 50mm f1.8 prime lens, much better "look" than the zoom lens there.
Great video. I just sold my 6D with just 25K SC and now torn between 6Dmk2 or the EOS R. After watching this I think I'm going with the 6Dmk2 since all of my lenses are EF's anyway. Will save me some bucks which i could probably use to buy a 35 1.4L.

The 6dii is a great camera - it is my camera of choice after testing all cameras like the rp, r r5 and r6 - you will find reviews to all these cameras on my channel. The r is better in video than the 6dii and gives you the possibility to use rf and efs lenses - dual pixel af works the same on both cameras. The r is relatively low in price in Germany, so both cameras will give you excellent results.
@ thanks. I have an ef 85 1.2 L mark 2 as well. Does it nail the eyes (irish) when using it with your 6D2? Can you comment on the hit rate? Thanks again.

AF on the 6DII using live view works at f1.2 over 95% on point. There is no difference in real world in AF between the 6DII Eos R, R5 and R6 for photographing people
My question to you is: Is there any Canon camera that you thought didn't fit your photography needs? I see you're not bothered by any potential shortcomings on this model and the same went for the older 6D when you reviewed it. I know that brands can sometimes have a sentimental value to a photographer as it's the equipment they invested all their waking hours mastering, but what about blind loyalty to a brand?

To me camera bodies are kind of all the same. The lenses are very important. 50mm f1.2, 85m f1.2, 24mm f1.4, 14mm f2.8, 135mm f2.0, etc. These are what makes a camera shine - and having AF with al of these is what is amazing. I don't like Canon APSC Cameras. I prefer a 2006 Canon 5D over the newest APSC camera from Canon (for photography). Looking at images I got with the Sony a7III or the Leica MD and M10 the images look exactly like the ones from my Canon cameras, so I don't care about camera bodies or brands as long as it is full frame and I get relatively cheap open aperture lenses and a body that doesn't get dust or dirt on the sensor (like most mirrorless cameras with few exceptions) and I need a camera that I can shoot for 500.000 shots without giving me any issue. The 6D and 6D II do that for me :) Although a Sony a7III would also be a great option, but I go where the lenses are and as I have now nearly all important prime lenses for Canon (just got the 200mm f2.8 L and the 100mm L macro IS), I stick with the Canon EF system for important work.
There is no camera by any brand in the last 1p years that would be bad for photography in general unless your a real high end still life photographer.. Maybe landscape 📷 Video is another story.
remote is fine but why not use the Canon Camera Connect App?
3 роки тому+1
The remote control lasts 300 to 400 days and costs 15 Euros each. The phone lasts two days, costs 999 Euros and is way too large to not be seen. I would never use an app for this, I tried it six years ago and it was a terrible experience. The remote I use now I used also six years ago, so why use an app?
Hello Dirksón, first of all I like your sincerity every time it seems that we have to be up to date with the latest technology, more modern cameras with many functions but that sometimes they do not even offer the quality that other models that were a bestseller apart from their price because of Instead of being the same with more applied technology, it turns out that they cost more and what not to say about the optics to give an example a Canon 85 mm f / 1.2 that can cost € 1600 now with the new Canon R5 models it costs a whopping € 2800 How can these prices be possible if in the end the cameras will be like computers and each time they will come out with more improvements, faster sensors, more firing bursts etc and in the end after 2 years they will be absorbed as they happen with computers. In my humble opinion as I said before I like your sincerity if a camera works well and for the work you do it is more than enough because changing because having the best camera will not take better photos is us who in the end when we press the shutter we are the ones who capture what we want to see. Subscribed for a long time to your channel follows like this a greetings from Spain.

I don't use the 6D anymore (even though I did on the last weddings as third camera, but in general not). Here is why I love the 6D II - The AF with the Dual Pixel AF with Face Detection is amazing - it is the same quality as the R5, R6 or any Sony camera in real word portrait photography. I can use the 85 f1.2 or 50mm at f1.2 and the faces are always in focus. I can tap the screen to lock focus on a subject, I have the flip out screen, I am now at 1.000.000 images with the 6D II and I still love it. I try all cameras I find interesting (the last ones were the Canon R5C and the Sony a7SIII (which is amazing for video!), but for what I do in photography with all the EF lenses I have the 6D II gets the job done. Sensor wise all cameras are the same to me - The images in my R6 Review, or a7III Review or Eos R Review or R5 Review or 6D II Review they all look the same :)

I don't use zoom lenses and an f4 is not something that gives me much fun. I shoot everything between f1.2 and f2.5 and only lenses that deliver that are those I actually am excited using. I would sell the zoom and get a 50mm f1.8, a much better image indeed. You can add a 20mm f2.8 or 28mm f1.8 and a 85mm/100mm or the excellent 135mm L lens and you have everything you need - a wide, a standard and a Tele:)
Hi there, great video, thank you. I've just bought a new-old-stock 6D Mk2 here in the UK, out of the box the LCD screen turns off at random, I can't even check the battery level. I read online that the update 1.0.4 was fixing a "rare" screen issue, but the latest update is 1.1.1... but it still doesn't work!!! Have you ever had this issue? Any help much appreciated. In advance, thank you very much for your time. Best regards, Manny Essex, UK

Hy Manny, my 2 Canon 6D II work without any problem now for the last 700.000 or so images, battery level can be found in the menu with real percentage numbers and also with the number of shots taken. I get to 2000 to 4000 images per battery on wedding days, so in my experience it is a really reliable camera and I am very hard on my gear.
I'm curious how many times have you actually had a card failure? I can only really think of one
3 роки тому+1
I have around 30 SD cards, mostly SanDisk with 128 GB 170MB/s, some 256GB and some older 64GB and 32 GB ones. The only card that was unreliable was a Lear 64 GB card, that sometimes told me "card full" even when it was not, then I put it out, in again, out again, in again and here you are, 2300 images to take. I also had a card that fell out of my bag in the car and I found it under the car seat the next day, so it's all right. I once lost a card, when I used the Pro 3 in Hamburg which is a shame, but other than that in 2.000.000 images in the last 10 years I never had a card fail. And I have them in my pocket just like that, no case, no protection. The chances of loosing a card or formatting/deleting it yourself is much higher than it breaking or loosing the data by itself.
He doesn't clean the sensor not because it doesn't need it, but because he shoots wide open. Shooting at f/14 or f/2 the dust doesn't show up in your images. At f/8, it really will.

There is a good reason.
i love you're profile colors with 6dmii..i have it and also i love that camera.
Excellent video !!!
Canon now not letting third party on Rf would be a deal breaker for me . but I can't afford it anyway
You'll have a great time with it :)
Flash sale, just got the body brand new for 700 euros. Going to be my fun photography camera.
That's it.
@ Thanks mate!
Excellent video! Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Ive had a 6D for what seems forever and am about to order the MK2. I love how you do self-portraits and would love to try that myself. Can you tell what model trigger/receiver you are using as it seems to work really well?
yongnuo rc603c
Thank you 🙂
it be great if you could do a short video on how to set up the triggers on the 6D Mark ii.. I have the same triggers and not sure how to get them to work.. just got the 6D Mark ii, am hunting online for a how to video, thnx
Brilliant video loved it:)
I do this hundreds of times, this is how I do it :)
The 6D II is a better camera for me than the RP, if Video is not so important and if you want to use more EF lenses and not RF lenses.
Once again an excellent hands-on review
The only downside for the 6D and 6D2 are the lack of a 2nd card slot for backup, that would be the only thing making me use either my 5D3 or 5DSR for pro work.
I think in a previous review you said you had never had a card fail. I have.
@ You've been lucky
I wouldn't go onto a high paying job without an ability to back up throughout the day, either with 2 cards in camera or by swapping regularly & getting an assistant to download to a pc
what kind apps to check Shuttercount in Canon system, example in EOS R?
Absolutely amazing review, did you use 6dmkii to record this video as well?
Either the 6D II or the Original 6D, but all the images are taken with the 6D II. I will make another like like this now after a million shots :)
@ I’m looking forward to the next review. It’s good to know the video is good enough as well. Thank you.
Your videos have great person insights. Thank you.
Question: With no mirror in RP, what is your experience with sensor dust?
How are the colours on the 6D mark II compared to the 6D original, are they as good?
The Colors are kind of identical. I did shoot many weddings 2023 with both cameras and the files edit the same way. one preset to all images and they kind of all look the same (I used the 6D II and the RP but the RP files turned out way different, the colors didn't match).
Do you use back button autofocus ?
No, never. I use focus and recompose with the center focus point and with the 6D II I use the face detection via live view that works excellent. AF quality this way is like on the R6 or R5, it's that good.
@ I gladly thanks your !🖒
I was just gifted a 6d Mark II I'm so excited to get to know this camera, it's my first Canon so I have to get some glass for it as I only have the nifty fifty for it at the moment.
A 50mm f1.8 or f1.4 is everything you need :) Have fun, I still love it!
How do your get that beautiful colors, is a preset used in editing ? Thx for the video
Learn how to master in camera settings. A bit too warm at times but nice content in general
Thank you for the review, although 3 years old now. I am returning to photography and going back to Canon. I have picked out the Canon 6D MK2 used in mint condition for £750 with just 2000 activations. Bargain. Also an EF 24 to 105 II USM for £700, again Used and both came with a 1 year warranty.
The 6 DII is still great, I still use it with the R6 II for Video. I would pick up a 50mm f1.8 prime lens, much better "look" than the zoom lens there.
Beautiful
Thank you very much :)
There is no difference in real world in AF between the 6DII Eos R, R5 and R6 for photographing people
@ nice. I was considering it for portraits documentary fashion and some concert photos
@ that’s the hard true, but it is the true. At the end of the day you don’t see any difference between images.
@@pyroBlastM Thank you for answering my question.
There is no camera by any brand in the last 1p years that would be bad for photography in general unless your a real high end still life photographer.. Maybe landscape 📷 Video is another story.
@@pyroBlastMsome can give a difference depending in Glass you use the ability and importance of in camera settings is what you should concentrate on
remote is fine but why not use the Canon Camera Connect App?
Thank you very much for your kind words! There are many videos coming, I have. uploaded until March 2021 right now :)
Hey, what cable you.use to connect trigger to RP for self photography?
no cable, just a flash remote control, the yongnuo rf 603
@ It connects thru hot shoe?
@@CoupleofLondon yes
@ Thanks,
in Canon 6d Mark 1 review you told that it's more than enough and you don't need Mark 2, even when you already bought it, why did you change your mind? how do you deal with worse sensor/colors comparing to Mark 1? do you stil use 6d original?
Your in camera settings and glass would affect your colors. With the exception of a few sensors I e. Nikon d700, Pentax 10d Ricoh gr Nikon d3 fairy dust sensors
Fantastic youtube channel ..... can you please tell us how you find the shutter count on your cameras ? I can find it with each battery charge but not total camera shutter count. regards.
I use an app called shutter count. There are free ones but I think this one costs 5 Euros/$ - not all cameras are supported in the free versions and with this one all my cameras I can read out easily. Just google for your camera model and "shutter count"
How do you rate the 24 to 105 kits kens I think it came with. I tend to like primes
@ yeah I'm fine with 2.8 1.4 is a bit too much bokeh crazy for me. The video footage is decent? Thanks for replying
If Video is important the Eos R is much better for still a really low price.
Best regards,
Manny

Hy Manny, my 2 Canon 6D II work without any problem now for the last 700.000 or so images, battery level can be found in the menu with real percentage numbers and also with the number of shots taken. I get to 2000 to 4000 images per battery on wedding days, so in my experience it is a really reliable camera and I am very hard on my gear.
@ Thank you! I've had to s'en it back, hopefully it will be fixed!
why this pic are not colourfull???
I'm curious how many times have you actually had a card failure? I can only really think of one
@ yeah my card that failed was a lexar as well . I think 32 or 64 . must have been a bad batch
23:39 Ok wireless remote switch it is
He doesn't clean the sensor not because it doesn't need it, but because he shoots wide open. Shooting at f/14 or f/2 the dust doesn't show up in your images. At f/8, it really will.
Good point, but to this day I've never cleaned a sensor :)
Haha same here! I have been using the 6d mk ii as an outdoor photographer since Nov2020 and I have never cleaned the sensor.
I believe it also greatly depends on how well you take care of your gear.
Super,👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Hi what sort of remote do you use ? thankyou

Biggest issue with DSLRs is the sound of the shutter
@@roverroams why is that a problem? I find it more irritatibg on the R6II when you hear conpletely nothing
You have taken over 600,000 shots on your 6d mkii without the shutter ever needing repair???
I actually took 900.000 on the old 6D, 450.000 on the other 6D, now around 700.000 or more on the 6D II and another 150.000 on my other 6D II (I have 2x 6D and 2x 6D II). I never had a problem and to this day never cleaned a sensor (ever). I did 1300 Videos here plus a couple hundred weddings with these cameras without ever having a problem. And I am very hard on my gear.
I love the 6D, but aren't you worried about a card fail at a wedding?
Never had a card fail in camera in 2.000.000 shots, so no, no worries :) The probability that I lose a card or the whole camera bag gets stolen or the car gets broken into is way higher, I had all this happen to me but never had I have a card fail.
Congratulation long life of yours shutters...I have dilemma 6d for 400euro vs 6d II for 650 euro for travel...please help me a little :), my wife use 77D, I will use canon 24 105 L with it
