Do you guys think DSLR cameras have a future? Will they vanish into thin air and make room for mirrorless cameras or even the widespread power of the smartphone?
@@maxfrisket Yeah I think it will be less and less used but not overnight indeed, it will take years. And maybe it'll never really die to begin with. I mean even film cameras have made a come-back in recent years.
I think that the camera manufactures will be the ones to end DSLR's as they hold the ultimate power in the market. My view as a Landscape Photographer and Vlogger is I want a easy to use reliable camera that produces a quality image that I'm happy with. DSLR's do that and will continue to do it. One plus point for me is that with the market move to mirrorless the cost of the 6Dmkii has come down to a point where I can now afford it! Happy days!!🤣👍📸
As a hobby photographer, the 6D mkii was exactly what I wanted. I really wish we would stop judging these traditional photography cameras by video camera standards. This camera got trashed initially because it isn’t made for UA-cam/wedding videographers. But not every camera has to be.
Yes, you did help. I've been using 6D MKII for about a year also and I never knew it had in-camera exposure bracketing. I found that if you bump up the sharpness just a hair, the video will look much better without looking oversharpened as it does in a smartphone. I was considering dropping down to the 90D but not sure I want to lose some of that depth of field (except when shooting landscapes trying to get sharpness front to back, then it would help), but I'd also lose some of the widest angles such as my 14mm that I like to use for landscapes and astro. a 90D would end up giving me about 21 at the widest with the lenses I have. I'm probably going to go mirrorless within the next year. Nice video, good information.
Thank you so much! Indeed there are some trade-offs you really need to consider. And for the wide-angle, most definitely you'd need to get another lens for the 90D.
Excellent advice and opinions. Very helpful for the guy looking to buy his first full-frame Canon. The pros are many and the cons are few and seem very specific to a user who has certain requirements in a camera.
Great review! However I do have to point out that as a landscape photographer I was really worried about buying this camera. I needed a full frame body and was on a budget. Gotta admit, moving from an entry level crop sensor body to the 6d mark2, I was actually quite satisfied with DR. Compared to more expensive models, it might not be the best, but I never found it limiting in any way and I do push my edits quite far. If there is a bit of noise at times, I can easily correct that. Also, the S10 video footage really doesn't look good for me. It is fakely sharpened and will probably quickly fall apart in lower light situations compared to the 6d. At the end of the day, I got my 6d mk2 with the 24-105 L mk2 series lens for just 1300$ and I couldn't be happier about it. Can't wait to invest in more lenses!
Yeah definitely the DR is decent and I fully agree, the S10 oversharpenes the 4K recording for sure and in low light it falls apart quickly indeed. And $1300 for both the body and lens is an unbelievably good price, congrats!
I had the same experience. I came from a t3i and the dynamic range was mind blowing to me. The 6dmkii "sucks" in comparison to class-leading incredible cameras but really not by a margin that's big enough to really be crippling if you pick this up. The way canon left 4k or other shooting options/encodings really annoys me but I hope magic lantern gets a version out for this because I'm sure you could great footage out of this camera if they unlocked it.
I bought the canon 6d m2 at good rate and had been using it for the past couple of days. Great camera for professional photographer out there who wants to own a full frame DSLR body. This is the best camera so far I had use in my opinion.
This camera doesn't have In Body Image Stabilisation, it does support stabilised lenses though. I've had this camera for over 3 years and I'm very happy with it's performance, and have no need to upgrade at this time. I would still recommend it as a first time full frame camera. Good review, and thanks for taking the time to go into detail.
Thank you! Nice to hear, and that's the great thing about cameras. They don't go obsolete every year when a new thing comes out. And yes indeed no IBIS in this. Just the Digital stabilization which crops in, and isn't that effective to begin with I'd say. Cheers!
@@MihaiStrömpl Ah yes, for video recording.. got my wires crossed there. I agree, that it isn't as effective as some of the newer devices, like the GoPro and many phones now.
I currently use the Canon M50 mark ii and am looking to move up to a full frame camera. Thank you for your thorough review of the 6d mk ii. If I want video, i can always use my m50 mk ii but I am looking for better low light & portrait capabilities.
Great video! Do you recommend this camera for Make videos on UA-cam or some films? What do you think about the autofocus or tracking focus? Is it useful ?
Thanks man! And well it's a good UA-cam camera if you want to keep things in 1080p. The Autofocus will vary depending on your lens, but it's still one of the best AF Systems out there to be honest, I don't think you'll have problems with that. But there is no tracking function as far as I'm aware.
Awesome video helped me out loads but still don’t know what to upgrade to... I have the 200d/SL2 and need to upgrade but don’t have a clue what to get.. The canon 90d has been at the front for some time now but getting a full frame camera seems to be the Wright thing to do... I was looking at the 5d mark iv but doesn’t have a flippy out screen which is important to me but still a great camera... I need to find a camera that is good for video, product photography, portrait photos, and street photography, any ideas would be much appreciated thanks 😊
Thanks for stopping by! And sounds like you're looking for the Perfect Camera haha. Hard thing to find brother, but if you want to remain in the Canon system, and on a DSLR, I don't think you can go wrong with the 90D indeed. If you're open to mirrorless too however, you could get both a Full Frame sensor and great video specs with their R line-up. Even the initial EOS R, not necessarily R6, R5, which are quite expensive.
I bought 6D mark 2 and do regret it, definitely I would go with 90D for so many reasons. Canon 6D mark 2 is good paper, but in real world is a huge disappointment.
@@MihaiStrömpl The camera does not handle contrasts very well, video is incredibly soft and not sharp, 1080p looks like stretched 720, I moved on from 80D and I was expecting upgrade, but feels like downgrade on many fronts, the only positive is low light photography but that's all really, I think this camera gets many negative comments because there is a reason for it. Going to sell it ...
@@Greggiexplore Yeah the two issues which I've covered in the video actually. But I don't think that's all there is to it. However yes, you better sell it now rather than later, if it doesn't fit with your use case scenario.
Great vid and review. I am happy with me 6DII as well but I miss my 6D, which I sold. It had better high ISO performance and the 1080p was visibly better too - with MF though. Anyway, the 6DII is very solid and a good camera to buy used.
I purchased this full frame DSLR as an upgrade from the Canon Rebel t7 for the purpose of photography so the video capabilities is not my main purpose for purchasing this model. Can't wait to see how it performs in low light situations and I plan to try some astrophotography .
As cameras get more complex, the more simpler cameras are becoming more attractive. Recently purchased an RP and have more fun with it than my more expensive other camera. Great video. Take care.
Thank you brother! And you're spot-on. I believe that's why Sony cameras aren't too attractive for many, the capabilities and specs are definitely there, however they are too technical and maybe too features-packed even? The menus aren't friendly at all either so there's that. But I definitely agree there's something about point and shoot photography, without fussing with too many settings, that is deeply enjoyable.
Thank you! For me the (almost) perfect hybrid camera choice was the Fujifilm X-T4. But there are so many options today, it's hard to go wrong. It's more of a preference thing and of course, budget. But if you want to stay with Canon, as far as DSLRs go, the 80D is better for video, but has a crop sensor. Other than that, the R series (R6, R5) is a killer, but with a hefty price, which probably can't be justified for most people, that was my case as well.
I have a 5D Classic (which is mint), for which I paid just £161, and a 5Dii (which has just under 51,000 shutter actuations), for which I recently paid £300. That's two fantastic full-frame bodies for less than £500. Add to that a Canon nifty-fifty (£63), a Sigma 12-24mm (£225), and a Canon 24mm f2.8 (£99), that's an impressive pro-level kit for under £900. And with what I've saved on a newer body, I can afford to get myself either a really decent lens (such as the Canon 85mm f1.8), or a Canon M50, for video work.
I actually bought this 6D mark II instead of the R, because the RF lenses are way too expensive compared to the EF lenses. The 6D Mark II is like your mother, always home, reliable, and can cook you a fantastic meal as good as a professional chef, but at fraction of the cost.
Many thanks for cool explanation and good video, need your help, taking into consideration limits of my budget I have some difficulties to choose, I stay between 6D mark II and Canon 90D, which one you can recommend? I know that 6D mark II full frame and 90D is crop sensor... I will be focused to photo (65%) and video (35%) - means 65/35... which one you can recommend? 6D mark II or 90D? Many thanks in advance...
Thanks for your kind comment! And well since video does matter to you, at all, I'll have to go with the 90D, its got better video, 4K, 32MP, newer processor, and yeah just overall a newer camera. As you pointed out, you don't have a Full Frame on it, but the difference is imperceptible most of the time, if you've got the right lens for the job.
For pure photo photography..... nothing can replace a full frame camera. 6d mark ii is what you want, since you mentioned 65%. If video is 65%..... then yes, the 90d is in order.
We have the Canon 6d Mark ii and love it! Man....that was some pro video you made here bro! You should have a million subscribers and I know you will have. God bless!!!
Chiar căutam acest model all in one ...
I currently shoot with a Canon 2000d (Rebel T7) and plan to buy a Canon 6d Mark ll. I'm not interested in making films because I believe that films are recorded with camcorders, not cameras! (if something is good for everything, it's not good for anything) I care more about full frame and less noise at higher ISO values. Will it be a big jump to 6dmkll? I'm a bit afraid of these dynamics, but the 2000d is probably worse and still takes good photos that I'm happy with. Will I be satisfied with my purchase of the 6d mark ll?
I like what you said about things which are good for everything, it's pretty true in most cases :) And I'd say you will notice the difference coming from the 2000d to this. The 6d II is an awesome Photo machine.
Great video Mihai! The 6D MKII is my 'go to' camera when I don't shot sports. It's an excellent all around body that gave my old EF lenses like the 24-105/f4 a new lease of life. The IQ is excellent. Add the EF 40mm on the 6D MKII and it's 'almost' mirroless. Most landscape photographers , as you said, would carry a tripod and filters so the dynamic range shouldn't be a big issue. Not for me anyway.
I want to upgrade to this camera strictly for photography I have no use for the video it would be from a t5i would you recommend or save for another ? T
It's definitely a great camera for photos still. You most likely won't feel much of an improvement in any newer camera, strictly speaking about Image Quality. In other ways newer cameras have evolved a bit, they bring more features, but not necessarily better Image Quality. You're better off spending more on lenses than a brand new camera in my opinion.
I’m moving from a 7d. I need something relatively light (my spouse has Nikon 700d and 800d which are heavy) but I want full frame now and better low light. The 6d mk11 seems the best option for me. Thank you for the run down!
@@MihaiStrömpl just realised it has no pop up flash which, although I use infrequently and have a speed lite, it is useful for fill in flash when out. I don’t want to have my speed lite attached very often. I may have no choice but to go Nikon full frame sadly 😟
Could I ask should I choose 6D instead 6D mark II? In fact, I want to pick a camera which is used in a long term. My main purpose is to take portraits, as well as the teeth as Im a dentist student. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks for such a nice video!
There aren't that many significant differences between them to be honest. The Mark II has a slightly higher resolution (26 vs 20MP) , it's faster in burst mode (6.5 vs 4.5), the video should be better (hard to tell by how much) and has a newer processor which should process noise in photos better. But frankly, in real life the differences might be barely noticeable. So either of them would do the job. Depending mostly on if you can find a good deal. Cheers!
@@MihaiStrömpl ya. Video is not my main care! Just wondering because with same price for a new 6d2 body, I could purchase a combo 6D used with 85mm lens in my country (VietNam). I also concern the longevity of a used camera versus a new camera here (6d2). Is it really worth buying a new one. Anw it seems that I now may choose a 2nd 6D with couple of lens. Thanks a lot about your helpful in for. Have a good day!
i’m still using the 6d mark 1 for all my weddings and im thinking of upgrading to thiss. but im worried if this camera will be obsolete in a next couple of years
While it is an upgrade, it's not a massive one by any means, I think the most substantial one is having the fully articulated screen on the 6d mkII, and a small bump in resolution, to 26MP. So I think unless you find a really good deal, so that you can replace the mk I with the mk II without much additional cost, I'm not sure you'll feel much of a change at all. That being said, the 6D mk II will definitely still be a good camera in 2-3 years from now still.
It will be obsolete unfortunately in a few years. if you are absolutely adamant about staying with a DSLR then I would recommend you buy it and it will be useable for another 5 years at minimum. However if we are looking towards the future, the future is mirrorless and as much as hardcore DSLR people don't like it they will replace DSLR's the same way DSLR's replaced Film cameras. I would honestly recommend you buy a Canon R camera if you only shoot stills due to the 1.6x crop for video in 4k. If you plan on doing both buy a Canon R6 or if you have money Canon R5. In a couple of years the kit for most Canon shooters will be the Canon EOS R1 (Main Camera) and a Canon EOS R5 (Secondary).
I am also considering an upgrade to a full frame camera and I agree, mirror less will be the future for sure. I would like to buy one but battery life of mirror less cameras is currently not satisfying at all. Nothing is more annoying than poor battery life, especially while traveling.
hello, I'm planning to switch from APS-C to full frame. but I am very hesitant because the lenses for full-frame cameras are very expensive. I do have a 50mm 1.8 ef lens. I shoot mostly portraits, and I'm planning also to buy an 85mm lens I found this Samyang 85mm 1.4. do you think 6d mark ii is a good combination with Samyang 85mm lens? or do you have any good lens recommendations that are budget-friendly?
Excellent presentation. Currently this camera is my work horse and I am quite happy with it. I am sure the main reason for me being this happy with it is because I do not use it for video.
The 6dIi is a better camera than it is said to be. The 5div was a better camera but is now discontinued. I am a stills photographer. I have been so since my early teens. I am now 71 years old. I have done a number of kinds of photography, but enjoyed print photojournalism the most. I consider myself a visual story teller. I have no real interest in video. If I had my way, stills cameras would have no video function. I wish that stills cameras were like the original Canon 5d- no video. For those that prefer video, I would like to see good video only cameras. I have nothing against videographers. I do think there are to many would be Cecil B. de Milles out there. But I also think cell phones have lessened the quality of photography. Video was added to still cameras for one reason only. To increase camera sales. Before that happened, camera sales had gotten sluggish. Again, cell phones. What I think is ironic is that a great percentage of cell phone images never go any further than the cell phone. Not prints, not in publications, slide shows. Yes, cell phones are convenient. Cost is not necessarily a factor either. Cell phones have become quite expensive.
What camera would you recommend for a student who needs an upgrade. I’m currently using the canon Rebel t6 and I love it, but it has its limits, so it’s time for an upgrade. I’ve been looking into the 6d mark ii, but I’m just not sure. I will not be using this camera for videography just photography. I don’t want to spend over $2000 as I am currently a student and would like to get a photography degree in the near future, so I wanted a new camera for practice and my school work. I currently have 4 lenses for my Canon t6 and I’m not sure if I should give up on EF mounts and just transition to RF mounts and a mirrorless camera after I spent the money on those lenses.
Thanks for your comment! And good luck on your pursuit :) And well if you already have EF lenses (and not EF-S) I think a 6D mk II would really make sense, budget-wise as well. It's a great Photography camera now, and it still will be 2 years from now. But honestly there's no easy answer here, and if you go with a newer Canon mirrorless you could still use your lenses through the Canon adaptor for a while until you save up the money for RF. However the main issue that remains with all newer camera models I think, is that a big part of the price difference you're going to be paying will be for improved video capabilities. On the photo side the "advancements" are not that huge. So if video doesn't matter to you, the 6D mk II is a solid option.
Thank you very much for so many details! Though it is the era for mirroless cameras, I felt that they were too small for me to grip after I tried several popular models. I really like how Canon 6d II feels in my hand. Also love the varying angle touch screen. Your video pushed me to make my final decision! I would buy it and try my best to improve my skills.
Really glad I could help and think you will not regret your decision! Yes mirrorless are gaining way more attention than DSLRs are these days but in some ways and for some people I think they will never replace DSLR cameras.
Great video thanks, I have the 6D mk1 and love it I am looking at upgrading for more pixels and after watching other rviews was put off the 6DMK2 due to apparent DR issues (I too experience these a bit on my MK1 however the 6DMK2 is still around £1000 cheaper than the 5DMK4 which is a great camera but at that price difference after watching your video may well go for the mk2 after all
If you are looking for a great and cheap landscape camera, you should give the Pentax K1 a try. It is hands down the best landscape camera I have seen even with modern high end mirrorless cameras
I am not at all, interested in video. I wish there were stills only cameras. The 6dii is not without it's issues, but it is a better camera than many reviewers acknowledged.
I am currently shooting on a Canon APS-C DSLR and want to upgrade. While many people told me is should go mirror less, I think the 6D II will suit me better. I can get a (nearly-)pro DSLR for the same price as a beginner mirrorless. I don't mind about the size. I'm just worried a little bit about the dynamic range.
The Canon 6D mark 2 was never a „convincing“ camera. But it was and still is a camera that just works fine and will do the job. Like almost all Canon cameras. That‘s the point of Canon cameras in my opinion. They just work fine without having any headache. If you want a „technical convincing“ camera, buy a Sony and have fun with the monitor, viewfinder, small but edgy body, the button layout and a user surface that does all but fits for no one. Even their first fullframe mirrorless, the Eos R, has a better display and an more durable Body than the Sony A7 in the fourth generation.
I got one since a year and I also noticed that the skies are burned out sometimes. An easy way is to just use exposure compensation and step it down by two thirds or use a gradient filter, what many landscape photographers do anyway. What I miss most is that there is no focus peaking or you got to use an external screen. Besides I like this camera a lot, especially in combination with my 16-35mm f2.8 Canon L lens, which is resulting in really sharp pictures with very nice colors.
Great tips! Yes under-exposing usually works, and the gradient filter will most definitely always work, but it makes the process a bit slower. Also I hear great things about the 16-35, you've got a nice combo :)
@@MihaiStrömpl: I did some research and I found a German website relating to a function to solve the exposure problem: It is in the recording menue 3 the item number 4 called something like "Tone Value Correction". Standard is "off", if you set it to D+ (I guess D = Dynamic?) you cannot use ISO 100 anymore but it is correcting the "burned out" areas in the sky . . . It seems to work, but I need a "better sky" with more bright areas as it is completely gray outside right now. Otherwise I work with histogramm in the sceen turned on and you can let the camera show you the over exposed areas in the playback function in order to correct exposure if necessary. Still sad that Canon is not correcting this by a formware update, normally I would say this should be possible to do so!
@@ttr6611 That's quite interesting. I didn't get around to test that. But yes I have to agree, firmware updates aren't something Canon is too famous for :d. Except maybe for their latest and bleeding edge tech products. And I've seen this approach to tackle Dynamic Range in other cameras too, for example Fuji, has several degrees to which you can improve the DR, and with each step it increases the minimum ISO as well indeed.
Salut.
Numai bine!
With the prices for 6D2 and EOS R there are few reasons these days to take the 6D2. Essentially it comes down to "faster frame rate". If it moves and moves somewhat unpredictable (like a dog) a 6D2 is still the better choice. Otoh a 80D, 90D or 7D2 might be even better and/or cheaper but good enough. Used prices are not that great for the buyer so getting a good 6D2 with 25.000 on the shutter from a trader is again not that far from a similar EOS R price wise unless you get very lucky. I managed to "vulture" a 6D2 with BG from a "driven out of business" fotographer who had her as a backup but that was pure luck being in the right shop at the right time. If your motives don't move like a Jackrussel - save another month or three get an R
Sounds like a nice deal you found there! And I agree with everything you said. If you care about video at all, 80D, 90D are a better option, and if you care about having fun with new RF glass in the future, yeah of course saving up for an R is definitely gonna be worth it.
I have a 550D which I love but the crop frame is starting to feel a little limiting. So I wanted to get a full-frame but one that wasn't too heavy or expensive. This one seems to fit the bill and I have it on order, arriving today in fact. I don't think the limitations you're listing will bother me, they're worse in the 550D and I'm still quite satisfied with it. In fact I'm super excited about the timelapse capabilities, high ISO performance, dual pixel AF, articulated display... and any sort of stabilization is better than the complete lack of it I've had so far haha. I use a tripod for video anyway, I don't walk around with it. I looked into mirrorless cameras a bit in the past, but I love my prime lenses and don't want to have to change them. So I reckon this camera is probably the best one for me at this point.
@@sharp3303 It's a great camera, I hope you're enjoying it. I ended up swapping mine for a Canon RP because tthe 6D MkII was too heavy and hurting my fingers. RP is great too (quite similar to the 6D Mk II in fact, same sensor), fullframe too (I had no idea before that there were mirrorless fullframes!) but it's much more lightweight. And my lenses fit with an adaptor so I'm very pleased.
Besides battery management. What makes the 6d mkii a better choice over the Eos RP? Asking because brand new they sell at similar price or you can buy the rp+adapter for the 6d mkii money. Which i find very interesting
Yeah indeed they sell at a very similar price now, and I think the main reason is that, even though on paper the RP looks better and is obviously newer, in real world it's not gonna translate like that. One pretty "big" thing which I can think of is the fact that the RP is much slower when shooting multiple photos, it states 5fps which is not much slower than the 6d mkII's 6.5fps, however those 5fps are without autofocus working, if you do want to focus while shooting (which I'd imagine everyone does) its more like 2-3fps, which is damn slow for 2021, rendering it useless for any action scene. Also the 4K feature which the RP has is pretty much useless too, with a 1.76 crop factor and rather bad rolling shutter.
@@MihaiStrömpl RP has far more Autofocus points that cover 88% of the frame. I would easily trade 2 fps on shooting burst because of the top notch autofocus. And since it's mirrorless it doesn't suffer of front/back focusing like DSRL does, I have a Sigma and this is quite big. I don't need to adjust exposure if I can expose correctly on the fly. Sensor is the same but image processor was updated The only thing that this camera lacks is IBIS i would have paid 300$ more to get it. But i'm sure the next low budget FF mirrorless will have it
@@Jean-bs5ip Yeah that's true the AF should work better on the RP indeed. As far as processor goes, I wouldn't really expect any noticeable differences. And I don't know what to say about IBIS on anything lower than the R6 really :d we'll have to wait and see what Canon decides on that haha. But in my opinion its something I think they'll only keep on the more expensive models to differentiate them. Because otherwise many people would just go for the cheaper model.
I bought a Rp a week ago, i absolutely love the thing, battery and speed are not the strong points but seeing what the AF can do on its own has made me fully commit to going fully into the Rf ecosystem as soon as the budget allows, not to mention evf is really nice to have and any lens i have is somehow sharper on the rp than on any dslr with all the micro adjustments in the world, mirrorless is the future and the future is now 😁
I'm thinking of upgrading my 70D and since my needs do not justify an R5 or the like, i'm thinking of getting this one :D this video is exactly what I was looking for
Thanks for the video, I bought this at launch as a full frame rebel camera with Dual Pixel AF and it is great, i currently have a 24TB storage solution that is about to get full and it's 64TB replacement will cost many times over what the camera itself cost and it's backed up to the cloud. I do some product photography for our restaurant business and mostly just take pictures and video of my kids. I have 4 L lenses and 3 primes and the video looks much better than anything i can get of our my Galaxy Note even at it's highest resolution. Maybe when a 6D mk iii comes i will upgrade to that but I don't know how i will store so much video data hahaha. Maybe a 100TB solution... Also when i play anything i've shot on my 4k television it looks awesome, everyone compliments it and says it's so clear and they quality is so good. Of course if i zoom in to a pixel level it looks pretty bad.
The thing about storage is... it may sound a lot at first, but you will find a way to fill it up, I know it's so easy to do it. It's many times worse once you make the step to 4K video recording. Although in both scenarios what I wonder myself sometimes is, do I really need all the footage/ Raw files that I captured? Most often than not it's a No, but also deleting it is a hard endeavor for the soul! haha
I have a 200D and want to upgrade to a canon with more fps and support the canon L series lenses. I was looking to get the 90D, but just learned that picture quality of canon L series are better on full frame and are a waist of money to use on crop sensor. therefor with my small budget I'm going for the 6D mark ii and 24-105 f4 L series. I don't care about video. Thanks for your video and all the others have been watching to make up my mind.
I thought about getting the 90D as well, but then learned the bigger resolution is more disadvantage than advantage and now think I will get the 6D2 as well
My first camera 15yr ago was a 350D rebel bought 2 lower end L. And one ebay 28-70 L 2.8 EF lense. the 17-40 f4 L and the 70-200 f4L. The camera body was quickly annoying. Phones started doing better recently got the 90D body and will up grade my 70-200 to a 2.8 mark III. Had a vantastic plastic 30mm prime but it died lots of grease leaked out so I'll up grade it as well. Right now the 28-70 2.8 L is on it. Waiting for price drop as they seem to be discontinueing EF in favor of the newer R lenses/body's.
That's an interesting question because I believe they're both relatively the same price now. I'd say first you'll have to decide if you wanna use it for Photo, Video or both equally? The 90D is 2 years newer, has way better video, more resolution, an AF joystick on the back(it helps) which makes it the better overall camera. But if you wanna use it mostly for photography, you might want to go with the 6d mkII still, because of that Full Frame sensor, the lens selection you get with that, and stuff like better shallow depth of field, subject isolation, bokeh, etc.
@@MihaiStrömpl sir one last question Canon Rp or Canon 6d Mark ii I'm going for photography portraits, Indian photography please recommend me one please 🥺
@@devilsagor2032 For portraits, I gotta say you can't go wrong with either of the two. They even share the same sensor, so the image quality will mostly be identical. The RP is the mirrorless version of the 6D mkII. But there are differences of course, for example I think the 6D mkII still has a better build quality, a more solid feel in hand, and better battery life which will matter if you ever wanna do weddings. And you can probably get it (and lens) for a better price second-hand nowadays. On the other hand, the RP is again the newer camera with some improvements, for example most people will probably have a better time using the Electronic View Finder instead of the optical one, and Dual Pixel AF should work a bit better on this as well. You also have 4K video, but all that doesn't really affect portrait photography much, what does though is the fact that you'll have access to the new and improved RF lenses. They're expensive, but for example the Canon RF 50mm 1.8 is decent in price I'd say. You can use older EF lenses too but through an adaptor, and I really wouldn't want to complicate things to that degree.
People are so wrapped up in camera features today, I used a Canon A-1 for 40 years, I bought it in 1978 and made sure I always had a good firm mount or stance when I pushed the shutter button. I did not worry about shaky images then, I just made sure I did the best I could.
Yeah but that because it’s film so it doesn’t really matter too much on the camera but with digital the technology is constantly changing so of course people are gonna at least be up to date
Thank you for this video, very informative. My 5D MK II is getting old in terms of frame count. I need to get something newer. Dynamic range is very important in landscape photography, which Is mostly what I shoot, so the 6 D MK II will not do.
Thank you for the comment! The 5D mkII is a legend. Nice that you kept it until now :) And to be frank yes, even though you can absolutely do it, there probably are better options out there that will fit with landscape photography, or at least make your job a bit easier than the 6D mkII, especially if that's mainly the only type of photography you're interested in.
I bought it lately and charged full and then did maybe 300 pictrures and it needed charge again but maybe because it was first full charge and I was also playing with it more, like looking at menu and stuff
Yes I'd say it greatly varies based on how much Screen on time you have. Also I believe the battery is rated for that number of shots while taking pictures the "classic" way, through the optical view finder, rather than using the live-view.
Thanks for this video. I am waiting delivery on a used Canon 6D Mark ll from a reputable source. Coming from a Canon 6D. I have good Canon glass. I have absolutely no interest in video. I also use an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Taking both on a three week trip to Utah this fall! There will be many times when I only take the IPhone due to hiking and safety concerns. When I'm traveling by car I will set up with a tripod and use the full kit.
From this point of view, yes. I think that's why people were disappointed with the MK II the most. Not that it's a deal breaker, but that in some ways it feels a step back.
That is a good question, which was on my mind for a long time as well. I've even scoured the rumors and fanbase websites about this. And in the past 3 years nothing substantial came out of any of those rumors. At this point I think it's safe to say Canon is fully dedicated to their new mirrorless lineup. And that the 6D series was replaced by the R6. They also announced there won't be any new EF mount lenses coming out, so I think that's also pretty telling. However I think they are still going to make some DSLRs but in other categories like the 90D. But if they ever decide on releasing a one last Enthusiast-level DSLR (what the 6D series was basically) I think a 6D mk III would be a great one.
Great video, good pointers. To me, in 2023, this camera is ideal, I have a Canon 90D that I can use for video, but it has APS-C sensor, and it is more modern. I want the 6D mark II for photography, and for its full size sensor, and its tilting screen, and its price. It is a great 2nd camera in which I can use most of the FF mount lenses I own.
if you shoot ETTR technique you can really control the dynamic range and recover more in post digital hotography is all about collecting information so the ETTR technique is a viable solution to Canon's rather weak dynamic range capabilities
I'm not sure if I should get a 5d Mark4 or this one. I shoot only stills and no Video at all (not my thing). I would buy ised so there is not a big price difference.
I would choose the 6D2, because I can't imagine shooting without the ability of flipping the screen. Also it is lighter. But if you really need the second SD port or bigger resolution, you should get the 5D4. I would make sure to get the version with gps and wifi then.
I would never do wedding photography unless they had someone else to do the main portraits and I could just photograph in a creative way. They whine to much , the woman have big Fred Flintstone feet and most going Get divorced anyway 😂
never come in from the right side ua-cam.com/video/6kJocX2KbyE/v-deo.html , the correct way is from the left side and when you are finishing the shot , go out to the left as you did , that part is good ,the entering is bad . So a good cinematographer would make that scene a lot better , showing that it is not the camera its the user . It has good enough video to make documentaries , even movies . But the budget you would need for a movie is way beyond the price of the camera so that makes it not usable . But for Vlogging even good Documentary
Do you guys think DSLR cameras have a future? Will they vanish into thin air and make room for mirrorless cameras or even the widespread power of the smartphone?
Mirrorless? Yes
Smartphone? No
@@loukimein6229 I'll have too agree on that 😊
I think DSLR will eventually die but not anytime soon :)
I agree 100%
I've had it for almost two years and I would totally buy it again, no questions asked.
I chose this Full Frame DSLR recently and I also thought the pros outweigh the cons for this camera. :-)
6dm2 is my current work-horse
Solid choice man
Mine too
You have a weird way of defining a horse 🐎
Great video, great concept. You have story and samples, great package :) Good job man. You told everything about this camera. Greeting from Serbia
Hey neighbor, thank you so much man, I appreciate it😊! I did try to not leave anything out, after all the time I've spent with this camera haha
I bought the canon 6d m2 at good rate and had been using it for the past couple of days. Great camera for professional photographer out there who wants to own a full frame DSLR body. This is the best camera so far I had use in my opinion.
Glad you're enjoying it! Sounds like a good deal :)

Bro check out our contents shot with the canon 80d.
Thank you for reviewing this as is. I've been trying to love this camera for a while but can't look past its shortcomings.
It's a great camera, but definitely not for everyone in 2021. Cheers!
Finally UA-cam doing a great recommendation. Awesome review and awesome video you deserve more subs
Thanks man! Really appreciate it
This camera doesn't have In Body Image Stabilisation, it does support stabilised lenses though.
Thanks for your comment! And I'd say that is a perfect combination. I don't think you'll regret it between the M50 for video and 6d for stills.
I went from APSC Canon 70D to this and could not be happier. It does everything I want, usually stills, I think it's perfect.
You are very cool and narrowed down the pros and cons helping to choose based on what type of photography we are into. Great video and helpful :-)
Thank you! I'm glad if this was helpful.
Well, I have the canon 6D mark ii and in cloudy days, I have been able to recover my skies pretty darn well...
Yes you can, on very cloudy days it's not much of a problem
@@Greggiexplore Sorry to hear you're disappointed. What in particular aren't you happy about?
Wow amazing video now I'm very interested in photography good job!! I liked the video a lot!.
Awesome to hear! And glad you liked it, thank you very much :)
hi, can you tell me what is better, Canon 90D or 6D Mark II ? i am a amateur photographer and my 80D Died
Hey! I'd say if you're strictly interested in photography the 6d mkII is still the way to go. For the video part, the 90D is better.
I purchased this full frame DSLR as an upgrade from the Canon Rebel t7 for the purpose of photography so the video capabilities is not my main purpose for purchasing this model. Can't wait to see how it performs in low light situations and I plan to try some astrophotography .
Same and don you enjoy your upgrade ?
As cameras get more complex, the more simpler cameras are becoming more attractive. Recently purchased an RP and have more fun with it than my more expensive other camera. Great video. Take care.
Thank you brother! And you're spot-on. I believe that's why Sony cameras aren't too attractive for many, the capabilities and specs are definitely there, however they are too technical and maybe too features-packed even? The menus aren't friendly at all either so there's that. But I definitely agree there's something about point and shoot photography, without fussing with too many settings, that is deeply enjoyable.
Great effort and look forward to a suggested camera that also has excellent video capabilities?
Did your mirror fall of yet on the 5d? It will soon
I actually bought this 6D mark II instead of the R, because the RF lenses are way too expensive compared to the EF lenses. The 6D Mark II is like your mother, always home, reliable, and can cook you a fantastic meal as good as a professional chef, but at fraction of the cost.
Can't argue with any of that! And yeah the entire R and RF lineup is too expensive for most people and still will be for a few years to come I reckon.
Thanks for the amazing review. Do you recommend it for real estate photography (interiors using bracketing feature)?
Thanks man! And short answer: Yes. Definitely a great option for that.
@@MihaiStrömpl great! Many thanks. Keep up the great work 👍👍😊
We have the Canon 6d Mark ii and love it! Man....that was some pro video you made here bro! You should have a million subscribers and I know you will have. God bless!!!
I did some studio shooting, i forgot to charge my battery and only had 50%, took 2000 pictures and battery was at 1% when i was done.
The battery life is phenomenal indeed!
Thank you so much! I completely agree, and I think it will still be a great camera for years to come.
Glad I could help! I think the 6D mkII should definitely be on your shortlist then indeed.
@@gentlegiant4067 That's very likely indeed
I am also considering an upgrade to a full frame camera and I agree, mirror less will be the future for sure. I would like to buy one but battery life of mirror less cameras is currently not satisfying at all. Nothing is more annoying than poor battery life, especially while traveling.
Obsolete is the most overused and misused word in all of photography.
hello, I'm planning to switch from APS-C to full frame. but I am very hesitant because the lenses for full-frame cameras are very expensive.
GREAT VIDEO MAN THANK YOU I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED THE 6D AND AM CONSIDERING A PORTRAIT LENS
Thank you! And that's awesome, congrats! Hope you enjoy it 📸
Excellent presentation. Currently this camera is my work horse and I am quite happy with it. I am sure the main reason for me being this happy with it is because I do not use it for video.
Love the video!! Thanks man
Thanks a lot!
Yes mirrorless are gaining way more attention than DSLRs are these days but in some ways and for some people I think they will never replace DSLR cameras.
great video! keep up the good work!
Great video thanks, I have the 6D mk1 and love it I am looking at upgrading for more pixels and after watching other rviews was put off the 6DMK2 due to apparent DR issues (I too experience these a bit on my MK1 however the 6DMK2 is still around £1000 cheaper than the 5DMK4 which is a great camera but at that price difference after watching your video may well go for the mk2 after all
Thanks man! And I'm glad if this was helpful.
If you are looking for a great and cheap landscape camera, you should give the Pentax K1 a try. It is hands down the best landscape camera I have seen even with modern high end mirrorless cameras
I am not at all, interested in video. I wish there were stills only cameras.
The 6dii is not without it's issues, but it is a better camera than many reviewers

I agree! Still a fantastic stills camera.
Great video buddy ! Looks like you've put lots of work into it, both in the shots and editing! 💯 And I must say... I might be all in for phones :D
Thank you so much🤗! And well, can't argue with that, they're already better than big, fat cameras in some ways😂!
great review
You deserve so many more subscribers. Greater video!
Thank you so much! :)
I love my 6D Mark ii for studio shooting but for outdoor i prefer my EOS R6. I am shooting both & don't see myself ever selling the 6Dii.
Thanks for stopping by Stephen! And nice dynamic you have there. Plus indeed especially in a controlled environment, the 6D mkII is awesome
Good job man best explained
Thanks a lot man!
Salut.
Numai bine!
Hi! what camera did you use for your video? looks awesome
Thanks! The video comes from the 6D mk II except when I'm showing the camera itself, then it's the Samsung S10 haha
@@MihaiStrömpl wow, looks great! Maybe because of the good lighting.
Great video man :) awesome job ...
Thanks man! Very much appreciated :)
I wish they would do a full-frame version of the 90d or a 6d mk3
That would be an instant hit! I hope Canon will do that. A no-nonsense up to date Full Frame DSLR is what many people want I believe.
Eos RP
I highly doubt that a 6D mk II or a 5D mk V will ever see the light of day. It would make no sense to pour down R&D in the R and EF lineup.
@@roglar Canon is already ‘s slowing production of EF glass and the 1DX3 will be the last DSLR from them
With the prices for 6D2 and EOS R there are few reasons these days to take the 6D2.
I just upgraded from the 550d too. I’m just getting used to my new 6D Mark II
Sensor is the same but image processor was updated
The only thing that this camera lacks is IBIS i would have paid 300$ more to get it.
@@MihaiStrömpl agree. Cheaper model has also cheaper sensor.
I bought a Rp a week ago, i absolutely love the thing, battery and speed are not the strong points but seeing what the AF can do on its own has made me fully commit to going fully into the Rf ecosystem as soon as the budget allows, not to mention evf is really nice to have and any lens i have is somehow sharper on the rp than on any dslr with all the micro adjustments in the world, mirrorless is the future and the future is now 😁
I'm thinking of upgrading my 70D and since my needs do not justify an R5 or the like, i'm thinking of getting this one :D this video is exactly what I was looking for
Glad I could help man! And yeah the R5 is really hard to justify for most people. Nice to have certainly, but... Do you actually Need it?
Most often than not it's a No, but also deleting it is a hard endeavor for the soul! haha
You can thank Biden Pelosi Boris Johnson Israel and Zelinsky the biggest world economic forum shills for all the price increase in on everything
I have the 6Dmkii. Love the ergonomics but no reason why it’s video capability isnt trash. So I added a Sony a6400 and Gimbal for video.
That's a powerful combo right there.
That's a solid choice! Thanks for stopping by 😊
I thought about getting the 90D as well, but then learned the bigger resolution is more disadvantage than advantage and now think I will get the 6D2 as well
My first camera 15yr ago was a 350D rebel bought 2 lower end L.
What do you recommend 90d or 6d Mark ii😐
@@MihaiStrömpl thank you sir a lot I will go for 6d Mark ii 😊
@@devilsagor2032 My pleasure! And great choice mate, hope you'll have a fun time using it! 😊
Well done. This camera does take beautiful photos....
@@MihaiStrömpl yes, probably :)
very nice video! thank you so much! subbed :)

My camera for video and special purposes is R6. 6DM2 is for pleasure and fun and just taking good photos.
#1 in chart is sharp and nice colored photography in different conditiones)
original 6d is a better camera then the 6d II. better dynamic range at lower iso.
From this point of view, yes. I think that's why people were disappointed with the MK II the most. Not that it's a deal breaker, but that in some ways it feels a step back.
Thank you: very helpful.
Will there ever be a 6D Mark III?
Sold the 90D and went to the 5D Mark IV. Not doing much video these day's. The 5D is unbeatable for stills.
Eos R!
It helps me indeed, thanks !!
Obrigado. Kkkk você me fez desistir dessa câmera de vez. Agora pode ser a 90d mesmo ou uma EOS R ou RP que é mais barata.
Haha it's definitely a great photography camera, but if you care about video at all, yeah I would look elsewhere.
Great review love from India 🥰🥰🥰🥰😍♥️🥰
Great video, good pointers. To me, in 2023, this camera is ideal, I have a Canon 90D that I can use for video, but it has APS-C sensor, and it is more modern. I want the 6D mark II for photography, and for its full size sensor, and its tilting screen, and its price. It is a great 2nd camera in which I can use most of the FF mount lenses I own.
canon 90d or 6d mark II.
In a nutshell I'd say 6DmkII if you mostly care about Photography and 90D if you plan to do some video as well

if you shoot ETTR technique you can really control the dynamic range and recover more in post digital hotography is all about collecting information so the ETTR technique is a viable solution to Canon's rather weak dynamic range capabilities
I just bought one :)
Awesome, hope you'll enjoy it!
I have both. I reach for the 6D Mark II a lot more. I also don't do much with video. 99.9% a stills guy.
absolutely no 4K vid recording. Canon was n still a punk. loves to cripple their hardware
Cannot argue with that
