Nah not really. Bonney can still use gear 5 powers but she doesn't have enough stamina, he endurance is the only thing holding her back. But it makes sense since she's 12. She gonna be able to hold gear 5 for longer when she gets older

I think most people that complain are not really that big of one piece fans in the first place. You got to remember that a lot of people just read all of shonen jump and a bunch of manga in general.
A lot of really young people have a ton of free time to sit around watching anime, reading manga and spending time online talking about it.
Especially young people that probably caught up really fast without actually paying attention deeply and have no idea why one piece was praised so much in the first place.
Then they get pretentious and annoyed easily with only limited understanding of the series like less intelligent young people often do. They think the manga and anime they like deserve more respect in comparison.
While many others shonen are pretty damn good, it's ultimately an action-based genre and most people especially young women and all adults could care less about action let alone respect and praise it to the extreme regard that one piece is often held in.
Not to say that I don't like or respect shonen but there are very few things that I care about as much as one piece and overall I'm more interested in different genres other than shonen or even action-based senien these days.

People forgetting when vegapunk was studying Kumas body he asked if a person is essentially their memories. So when Bonney went into Kumas memory bubble she experienced the feeling of being Kuma all his actions, emotions etc. the same way zoro experienced nothing happened. so while she’s 12 physically now Bonney has all the memories of her father so she’s lived more than 12 years mentally.
Bonney's transformation is less about her not earning and more about Joyboy BRINGING FREEDOM TO HIS FRIENDS. Joyboy/Luffy made her free.

I had to sit with it for a second, but I love it. It felt like this was where we were going up eventually with all the hints Oda dropped. I don't see how it takes anything away from Luffy, if anything him giving her the motivation that leads to the transformation makes it better. Either way I think we need to wait and see what Oda does with it.

Her devil fruit, to me, seems like a fancy way of saying its a copy fruit or a mimic fruit. She mimics what she sees to a certain extent. Reading the chapter, I only got the sense that she's free and enjoying the moment for once in her life. I never got the sense that she was suddenly a powerhouse in the series

People need to understand that Nika isn't gear 5. Nika is a god who resembles freedom. Luffy's fruit awakened gives him the form of Nika. Bonny can't use gear 5 because luffy's gears incorporate his haki to insane degrees. Sure bonny is free but she isn't using gear 5.

I think people don’t understand that df atp still haven’t proven to be stronger than haki. Luffy is ofc way stronger. This is like Kafla from dbs getting SSJ. It’s not game changing she is just using a small power buff that still can’t damage gorosei somehow.
I'm glad that bonneys joining the crew, I think her dynamic with luffy is really fun, it's also different from the relationship that every other straw hat has towards luffy, it also shows that oda is writing the series with younger kids in mind

Her power works based on her understanding and belief of the future she imagines. Her devil fruit depends on her imagination.
Luffy powers are based on his imagination. The nikka fruit is the embodiment of freedom.
Freedom is for everyone.
It is not an exclusive concept. To truly show freedom everyone can experience it. Ideally no one should have to pay a price for freedom. Having Bonney develop her power only based on how she understands and imagines nikka to be. Her vision of freedom.
There are obvious differences how Bonney and luffy view freedom.
I love how this gives both luffy and Bonney a huge chance to improved on their abilities before the final arc.

Bonney has one of the saddest stories and has probably endured the most emotional/mental trauma and even direct oppression from the government of anyone in the series. And not to mention basically being forced to be a pirate at the age of 10 years old. "She didn't work for it" is a hot take imo.

Guys, she isn't "mimicking" it, she IS Gear5 Nika in that specific timeline where she pulls her powers from. So it's like the Spiderverse for example, where multiple Spidermen are fighting together in one dimension. Bonneys DF allows her to be one of the Nika Users in a different timeline, that's her Power. I wouldn't be surprised if she can use the power for a longer period of time than expected, it's up to Oda. Her powers aren't like a Sharingan, she isn't copying the powers, she HAS that power for a short time!

Power ups don't have to be earned. One Piece is more realistic about it as we don't always earn getting better at something. Sometimes it just happens or we just hear about something or we're given something. Just for proof that Oda doesn't feel the need to make everything get "earned" in a special way, I'll drop examples.
Luffy didn't earn Gear 3rd

Nami didn't earn the Clima Tact
Nami didn't earn Zeus
Zoro didn't earn Enma
Momo didn't earn Dragon Form
Law didn't earn awakening
Etc etc
But in order to Awaken his devil fruit, Luffy died fighting Kaido and learned to mold the rarest and strongest Haki prior.
Zoro did not “earn” Enma…. He traded for it with Shusui a blade he earned In combat. Enma is also very taxing to use , it nearly killed Zoro…..

Technically, she's not Gear 5. She's mimicking Nika's form.
Luffy's gears incorporate his haki. G4 did. G5 also does, as when he transforms, we see ACoC blasts around him., and Kaido stated his attacks were coated with ACoA and ACoC the whole time.
We also don't know yet if Bonney can actually turn the surroundings into rubber, like a real awakening.

And then after a single attack she was so exhausted that she couldn't even hold her "adult" form. It is not something she is going to be able to use a lot and she'll probably be able to do some of the physical stuff Luffy does while he's in G5 things that revolve around his body... but she won't be able to manifest a bat out of a tree and paint it w/ Hawkeye paint and bounch explosive poison globules back at someone.
If this was any other story y’all would give it an L like Naruto for the sharing of a power he just got after finding out his DF isn’t Paramecia but Zoan just feels cheap when all of that is included
