I can see her joining as am "apprentice", like Shanks and Buggy in their younger days. While I'm at it, another prediction I'm gonna throw out there: what if its not just Luffy's abilities that she can mimic through her Distorted Future technique? Could she have a variant where she becomes a cyborg like Franky, or a fishman like Jimbei? Or one where she mimics Chopper's forms? The door is open to any of these now really. People forgetting when vegapunk was studying Kumas body he asked if a person is essentially their memories. So when Bonney went into Kumas memory bubble she experienced the feeling of being Kuma all his actions, emotions etc. the same way zoro experienced nothing happened. so while she’s 12 physically now Bonney has all the memories of her father so she’s lived more than 12 years mentally.

I had to sit with it for a second, but I love it. It felt like this was where we were going up eventually with all the hints Oda dropped. I don't see how it takes anything away from Luffy, if anything him giving her the motivation that leads to the transformation makes it better. Either way I think we need to wait and see what Oda does with it.

Her devil fruit, to me, seems like a fancy way of saying its a copy fruit or a mimic fruit. She mimics what she sees to a certain extent. Reading the chapter, I only got the sense that she's free and enjoying the moment for once in her life. I never got the sense that she was suddenly a powerhouse in the series

The nikka fruit is the embodiment of freedom. Freedom is for everyone. It is not an exclusive concept. To truly show freedom everyone can experience it. Ideally no one should have to pay a price for freedom. Having Bonney develop her power only based on how she understands and imagines nikka to be. Her vision of freedom. There are obvious differences how Bonney and luffy view freedom. I love how this gives both luffy and Bonney a huge chance to improved on their abilities before the final arc.

Guys, she isn't "mimicking" it, she IS Gear5 Nika in that specific timeline where she pulls her powers from. I wouldn't be surprised if she can use the power for a longer period of time than expected, it's up to Oda. 0:45 Bonney has one of the saddest stories and has probably endured the most emotional/mental trauma and even direct oppression from the government of anyone in the series. Like Kuma's story would not have been nearly as sad if Bonney wasn't a part of it, and the same goes for Bonney's story if you remove Kuma. But i'm mainly referring to stuff that happened to both of them, just bonney and instances that didn't directly involve her but had major consequences or effects to her story. I mean her mother passed before she was five. She got experimented on by the WG which resulted in giving her DF powers(which took her freedom to swim) and that resulted in an "incurable disease"(which took her freedom to go out in sunlight) and her father literally sacrificed himself(in secret) to have a chance to save her. Which left her an orphan being raised by the towns people/ fisherman and being forced to become a pirate. She was manipulated by the WG into thinking Vegapunk ruthlessly ended her father, and when she actually finds out the truth to everything that happened, she finds out that she just ruined any chance of her father re-gaining his memories through his DF fruit power. My main point though is this all happened to a child.

"Power scalers ruin One Piece" is the biggest cop out that the fandom does. Power scaling can become way too toxic but as a principle it's a completely valid way to judge the story. Oda being consistently inconsistent with his scaling and use of his power system (haki especially) damages his own world building. The One Piece world is built on power balance (the WG, the Marines, the Warlords, and the yonko). As soon as Oda becomes inconsistent it creates plot holes and destroys the reasons given to us as to why characters aren't making moves.

As a CHILD, leading a pirate group whose sole mission is to go against the entire World Government to get her dad back. We've been shown time and time again with her ability that she can alter the living physical world. It's not like she actually has gear 5. She's just mimicking it. I mean, she basically just delivered a haki covered giant punch. Which she could always do. She's just got a fresh coat of paint on when she did it. The hate is wild.
Bonney's gonna lose steam quickly because she sees Luffy lose steam quickly. Her imagination about G5 is based on what she's seen. Chapter 1119 did nothing to disprove it. She demonstrates very similar abilities (even usage of Haki) to G5 Nika, the only issue being the duration. But she's a kid. I wouldn't be surprised if she can use the power for a longer period of time than expected, it's up to Oda. Bonney has one of the saddest stories and has probably endured the most emotional/mental trauma and even direct oppression from the government of anyone in the series. And not to mention basically being forced to be a pirate at the age of 10 years old. "She didn't work for it" is a hot take imo.
She deserves the ability more than anyone else imo.
Bonnie’s sad story is 75% Kuma sad story seeping into her life.

I mean they both are pretty much linked story lines. I personally feel like Kuma and Bonney's story are one in the same(to an extent). Like Kuma's story would not have been nearly as sad if Bonney wasn't a part of it, and the same goes for Bonney's story if you remove Kuma. But i'm mainly referring to stuff that happened to both of them, just bonney and instances that didn't directly involve her but had major consequences or effects to her story.
I mean her mother passed before she was five. She got experimented on by the WG which resulted in giving her DF powers(which took her freedom to swim) and that resulted in an "incurable disease"(which took her freedom to go out in sunlight) and her father literally sacrificed himself(in secret) to have a chance to save her. Which left her an orphan being raised by the towns people/ fisherman and being forced to become a pirate. She was manipulated by the WG into thinking Vegapunk ruthlessly ended her father, and when she actually finds out the truth to everything that happened, she finds out that she just ruined any chance of her father re-gaining his memories through his DF fruit power.
My main point though is this all happened to a child.
Personally I like the idea of Bonney getting her own Nika form. I think the issue is that the execution could have been done better.

Bonney carries Kuma’s will and Kuma wanted to be Joy Boy and liberate all the slaves, becoming nika is how she carries on his will.
Maybe Bonney doesn’t need a dream. At the end of the day, she’s 12. Imagine a 12 year old accomplishes their live dream at 12? If we’re assuming she takes the apprentice role, like buggy/shanks, do we think either of them had goals?

"Power scalers ruin One Piece" is the biggest cop out that the fandom does.
Power scaling can become way too toxic but as a principle it's a completely valid way to judge the story.
Oda being consistently inconsistent with his scaling and use of his power system (haki especially) damages his own world building. The One Piece world is built on power balance (the WG, the Marines, the Warlords, and the yonko). As soon as Oda becomes inconsistent it creates plot holes and destroys the reasons given to us as to why characters aren't making moves.

The people who say Bonney didn't earn it are not reading the story. They can't be. She's been on the seas just as long as Luffy has. As a CHILD, leading a pirate group whose sole mission is to go against the entire World Government to get her dad back. She was good enough/caused enough havoc to be considered a Supernova in the Worst Generation. So clearly she is strong and had to be getting stronger. It's like people forget. You're NOT making it into the New Wolrd at all unless you are a very talented pirate. Having to fight Marines, other pirates, the ocean itself, and even civilians on whatever island you land on from time to time. And she left her crew to go kill the world's smartest man on a government island.
To say Bonney didn't earn it is the craziest shit I've ever heard. If Luffy earned it, then Bonney did too. What was Luffy's hardest moment? When he lost Ace? When he lost his crew? Bonney started her journey because she lost her dad. And made the hard decision to leave her crew, that she essentially grew up with, to chase her goal.
And her transformation isn't a transformation. It's just part of her devil fruit ability. We've been shown time and time again with her ability that she can alter the living physical world. Bonney's gonna lose steam quickly because she sees Luffy lose steam quickly. Her imagination about G5 is based on what she's seen. So she's going to imitate everything she's seen him do, which could possibly include rubberizing the ground/surroundings. This is not G5, it's just an imitation. It doesn't copy Luffy's strength, only makes her as strong as she THINKS she needs to be.
