I was born in 1945 and throughout the 50s my mother always made Mac & Cheese with Velveeta. I loved it. Cook the macaroni, make a roux and cut Velveeta into small cubes then mix it into the roux and stir until melted, add macaroni. Pour into buttered casserole dish, top with crushed saltines and melted butter. Bake 350-degrees for 15-20 minutes (until lightly browned and bubbly. No cheddar, no onions. The roux was made with butter, AP flour, S&P. I still love her recipe, though I sometimes add peas or broccoli.
That sounds really yummy !😊😊
That's exactly how my momma made it too!
More Velveeta recipes? Yes, please.
Growing up in the 1950's, velveeta was the only cheese my family could afford. We sliced it for sandwiches using a little, safe, hand held utensil. Always had velveeta on hand.
The amazing hand held cheese slicer that was just the right size and made the perfect slice. The ones nowadays are big, bulky and inconvenient to use. So glad I scooped up my mom’s original one from way back when, before our family home was sold with whatever contents were left behind❣️
I miss our slicer! It was great.
Velvetta was all we could afford in the 70s.
We had one of those little slicers too. I remember it well! But it’s not cheap anymore! Right now, it’s just a bit under $9 for a 2 lb block.
My mac and cheese uses half velveeta and half regular cheese. The cheese snobs don't know this in my family, but my dish of mac is almost always the one that is cleared out at gatherings. Some secrets are best left unsaid and much appreciated.
My dad (I'm 65) called Velveeta "cheese butts," claiming it was the ends of all of the other cheeses. 😆 And, yes, it was around in the 50"s and 60's when my siblings and I were growing up. We saved the boxes to use as coffins for all of the small pets that we often had funerals for!
Steven doesn't have to say a word, his eyes say it all! What a sweetheart.
Yeah his face gives it away
I’m 72 and cannot remember a time Ed didn’t have Velveeta in the house. I still use it on occasion especially in my potato soup recipe.
Oh yum, I'm sure that's delicious!!!
Oh I’d love to see your potato soup recipe, yum!
@@VickiTheCraftAtticwould like to have recipe if u would give thank u if u do bless evening 😊
Yeppers, it makes terrific potato cheese soup and broccoli cheese soup, too! (I'm 60 & grew up with Velveeta. It's amazingly versatile.)
My Mother always used Velveeta for grilled cheese sandwiches. That's many childhood lunches with tomato soup. Ahhh, comfort food. 😊❤
Same!
I use Velvetta in my family favorite Broccoli Casserole. I have carried this to any family meal for 50 years. One dinner (many decades ago) I decided to make something different. When I got to the dinner, my nieces were so disappointed that I hadn't brought Broccoli Casserole, I came back home & made it to take back to the dinner.
I wrote the recipe on cards & mailed them to each of my 4 nieces. The 1st niece to receive her recipe card called her sisters to say she was the proud owner of my recipe. The other 3 got their copies in the mail shortly after. My daughter also makes for potluck & holiday meals. I will submit my recipe per your link.
I really enjoy your family, recipes & Miss Gracie. Thank you!
OHMYGOSH!! We used it all the time in the 70’s in the dorm with Rotel, sausage, and Velveeta!! Best dip ever!!
Yes that's the way it was made. Yummy.
I think that’s the only thing I’ve ever used it for, but it does make an excellent dip!
Add a hunk of cream cheese to that. You will not be sorry!
Edisto Beach trip every year. Everyone made & brought food & my friend Ann always brought the Rotel, Velveeta, sausage dip. Didn't last a day😋.
Yummmmmm
I make a "to die for" Broccoli cheese soup with Velvesta. I've been told that mine is better than the local restaurants who serve it. I'll have to send you my recipe for that.
Please do. That sounds delicious.💓
Ohhhhh I would love your broccoli cheese soup recipie please if you don't mind sharing
Please share, I love broccoli cheese soup!
I remember when I was growing up, probably like six or seven years old we had Velveeta cheese all the time that’s the only thing we have in the house, but it came with a funny, little bored, and I wire thing that you cut cheese slices with, it was so cool and then later my mom got from like the filler brush, guy or something who came door to door as a freebie. This little wire thing with a roller that used to roll down the cheese and it made a perfect 8th inch slice. That’s a long time ago. I am 62 years old.
We had one too.
I remember that. Ate velveta sandwiches growing up.
We had one too! I’m 69
I still have mine and use it regularly. It did not come from the Fuller Brush man but we had other things from him. Boy, door to door salesmen, I'm really dating myself. 😅
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
It's like we are friends & I live next door.
Love the kitty!
I take a box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese add hamburger and bacon to it all the time. It's a single fathers dream. Quick, easy and loved lol
I’d love to see more Velveeta recipes. I’m from Salem, Oregon. I love listening and watching all your shows. Keep up the good work!
Bend, here. Hi, neighbor!
Thanks Linda!!
Portland here! Hi neighbors! 👋❤
Girl Scout Gumbo
2 lb. hamburger
2 cans vegetable soup
1/2 lb. Velveeta, cut into pieces
1 bag Fritos
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fry hamburger and drain grease. Then add soup and cheese. Cook in large pot until hot and cheese is melted. Serve over crushed corn chips.
Sounds delicious might give it a try without the salt has plenty with the cheese and soups just add some garlic powder with the pepper
Sounds good except for the veggie soups. Leave out 😊
Funny - my Dad used Velveeta as FISH BAIT! When he would go fishing, he would put a little velveeta on the hook and boy, the fish loved it! Growing up, I always saw this as fish bait and when I saw someone cook with it I almost threw up! I like it now, it is good stuff! I have been watching you for a couple of years now and I love your videos! Love Gracie! I have 2 cats - both females one named Abby and the other Ozzie (there is a story to this if you are interested!
We did this too when I was a kid...even kraft singles we woukd smoosh into a little ball and use for fish bait. Worked great
Yes, more Velveeta recipes please. These all look so good, can't wait to make them!
I can’t believe you hadn’t cooked with Velveeta. It’s the best creamy cheese you can use. More recipes, please.😊
I grew up eating Velveeta mac and cheese. Basically cooked buttered shell pasta with slices of velveeta melted over top in a skillet. YUMMY!!!!!!
Oh yes, I would definitely love and appreciate more Velveeta recipes❣️
Growing up, my mom never bought individually sliced and wrapped cheese (like Kraft Singles). We did, however, always have a box of Velveeta cheese in the fridge. That’s what we used for our grilled cheese sandwiches (before such a thing as velveeta slices). One of my favorite sides made with the velveeta was cheesy scalloped potatoes. Omgoodness, the nostalgia…. I almost can’t ❤. My mom only made said cheesy scalloped potatoes as a side with meatloaf. Now to me, that’s
comfort food 101. Thank you for this great video, with such amazing sounding recipes (I’ve already printed all 3 of them!!), but I also can’t say thanks enough for this stroll down memory lane ❤. And the reminder of the cheesy scalloped potatoes and meatloaf dinner that I’d basically forgotten about. Looks like I’ll be doing some amazing recipes with velveeta cheese. I can’t wait😊. Love your channel, love your family and love everything you stand for ❤
I have to laugh every time Steven takes a bite of something because if that fork ain’t full when it leaves the plate he’ll just keep stabbing at that food till it won’t hold anymore
Around midnight and you want nachos... chunk of velveta in a pyrex custard cup, water most of the way up the sides of the cheese, three or more drops of hot sauce, nuke and mush with a fork, and take it back to the tv with a bag of chips.
As my late MIL (from Arkansas) would say…. “Oh my gravy!” When Steven popped off with: “I don’t know what’s wrong with him, we need to check his head.” I fell off the couch laughing. Y’all don’t know the joy you bring to the world. ❤
light fluffy soft scrambled eggs with melted velveta cheese placed inside a vine ripe tomato hallowed out. simple quick and oh so yummy.
Sounds delicious ❤
Came for the recipes, stayed for the fun and Ms. Gracie! You guys are so funny and I love watching you in the kitchen. Have a good weekend! ❤
I thought every Southern kitchen had Velveeta!!! It's Soooo good!😋
YESSSS more Velveeta recipes..
Yes Please! More Velveeta recipes for sure 😉👍🏻
I can't get enough of you guys! I love your recipes, and i love the both of you!!!!!
More velveeta recipes. I have used Velveeta my whole life. It doesnt break when making sauces. Think cheese sauce and substitute velveeta and a little milk or rotel --- no need for a roux. It is the secret to my husband's famous grilled cheese sandwiches.
I like to also used velveeta cheese slices.
Love your show and your family
Yes please more Velveeta recipes. Everything looks wonderful. Blessings 😊
Many years ago, I won a little contest at the local Friend of the Library gathering. It was for the most unusual surprise ingredient. It was made with Velveeta and it was Chocolate Fudge. I don't even remember now where the recipe came from, but it did not taste like cheese. It was just smooth and rich and chocolatey. Love all 3 of these and really want to try to chili cheese spaghetti.
I remember years ago when Paula Dean was first on food Network. She made a Velveeta chocolate fudge. I've never tried it but I can't imagine it being bad haha
Made that cheezy fudge for a show and tell speech for senior English. Got an A.
I make a spicy dip with one cooked diced jalapeno, and one cooked diced onion. Add in 1 can of evaporated milk along w/ a blocked of cubed velveeta. Let it melt, and serve w/ corn chip scoops. It is good served cold too. We take this on camping trips. So good! But it's spicy. :)
I grew up during the 60s and 70s. Velveeta made the BEST cheese for grilled cheese sandwiches! Yum!
Hi Mandy. I loved this video. You guys are too funny!😂😂 I rarely use Velveeta, unless I’m making Rotel dip. I’ve never seen taco spaghetti with chili beans in it! Mandy you have a knack for finding recipes that I’ve seen before but with a twist!😃
Thank you so much for sharing.
🤗💕
Think Cincinnati chili. it is served with spaghetti
My sister and I always loved making Velveeta grilled cheese sandwiches with a bowl of soup. This was back in the 60's. Still remains as a staple in our kitchen.
Okay, well, I'm 73 and I had never heard of Velveeta cheese growing up. The fist time I had it, was when I was in my 20's. AND, that was the last time.
I prefer real cheese. There are so many other ones that "are to die for"!
Lucky video right now. My Walmart had Velveeta and Rotel for $.50 each. And I bought more than I know what to do with. Anyway, lucky me!!! Thanks, Mandy, for doing the leg work.
How funny! My baby sister was name Velveeta cuz dad loved, loved cheese (especially Velveeta cheese) like nobody's business! 😂🤣 Brought back some good memories and thanks for sharing some delicious looking dishes!
I'm having some strong nostalgia with these! Home made hamburger helper!
More Velveeta recipes, please...so many memories. It was a staple in our house.
Velveta makes the best broccoli cheese soup
More Velveeta recipes please. Those sound awesome. I will be trying those SOON.😍👍🏻
Mom had it in the frig often. I think I got in trouble for just cutting a good hunk of it off and just eating it. I think she needed it for a recipe. 😊
Yes! Please!! To more Velveeta recipes!! 💕💗👍🏼🧀
More Velveeta cheese recipes... Is that even a question??? Lol.... YESSSSZZZZZZ PLEASE 😊
More Velveeta recipes-thanks! All the ones you cooked for this video looked amazing!
❤-Brenda
I make Rotel dip with 1 lb mexixan and 1lb regular Velveeta. I add to it 1 can Rotel mexican and 1 can regular Rotel. Everyone at my work loves this.😊
Queso
Velveeta Fudge is truly amazing.
Velveeta is a staple in our house. I make my mac and cheese with the it! I also make an enchilada casserole with velveeta. maybe i should send in a Subby Super.
Yeah do it
Send it in :)
I sent it today
My cousin always made Velveeta Chili Dip for family gatherings because it's simple and and really yummy! Two ingredients that could be added to in so many ways. Add ground beef and veggies and BOOM, dinner! I love one pot dinners.
I’m so happy that I stumbled across this channel.
Yummy again, Mandy! Thank you all so much. I don’t use velveeta often but I do put some in my Chicken Spaghetti. It’s so creamy. You guys stay safe. The weather has really been bad. 🩷🙏
My game day dip using Velveeta:
-1 pound browned ground Chuck (drained)
-1 pound breakfast sausage browned and drained
-1 jar Tostitos salsa (I like mild cause I’m a wimp)
-1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup
Put it in the crockpot on warm and stir every 30 mins until all melted and combined. And stir every 30 minutes until ready to serve.
Serve with On The Border tortilla chips and sour cream.
Always a crowd pleaser!
I always add some Velveeta to the Hamburger Helper recipes. And the cowboy queso is habit forming!
My family loves Velveeta in my chicken, broccoli, rice casserole. Also in most Mexican dishes that are casseroles. We will love the dip you made for sure.
I love adding onion to ground beef as well. I think it adds so much more flavor!! Good job!
nacho pasta , velveeta , cannend toms , cannend chilies ..heat in micro...pour over pasta ....so good
These all look delicious! I won’t make them anytime soon, as I’m working on losing weight, but I love watching your videos and saving the recipes for another time. Have a blessed week!
Your taco spaghetti casserole sounds delicious. I just made a one pot taco spaghetti that was wonderful. Brown 1 pound ground beef with a small onion. Mix in 1 package taco seasoning. When beef cooked add 3 cups of water. Bring to boil and add spaghetti noodles. Once noodles cooked add 4-6 oz velveeta. We all decided it would be good to add corn and/or serve with cornbread.
They all looked delicious Mandy!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes with us. I've never had processed cheese but I'm going to try those recipes. Sending blessings to you and your beautiful family. Give Gracie some love from me. Have a great week.
Velveeta has always been a staple in my house😁
I am definatly trying the dip recipe!
Hi from minnesota😁
There’s also a chocolate fudge recipe that contains Velveeta.
I've made that! Doesn't taste like cheese one bit.
I agree. You'd never know it was in there.
Yes, try the fudge. My Mother-in-law made it in the 70s every Christmas time. Really creamy.
We love velveeta! It used to be less expensive than cheddar cheese. But now it costs the same. I especially love it for grilled cheese sandwiches!
it is great in Mac and cheese. We use elbow macaroni's with a can of cream of chicken soup and how ever much Velvetta you want.
. Reminds me of my Grandma.
The cowboy dip can easily be made in your slow cooker. brown the sausage on the stove add to slow cooker along with the other ingredients on low. stir occasionally switch to warm once all incorporated.
I love Velveeta! I'm going to try the spaghetti recipe! MORE VELVEETA DISHES, PLEASE! Little hint: microwave your lime or lemon for 10 to 15 sec to get more juice. Also rolling it firmly on the counter top or cutting board a couple times helps, too.
✍🏼Hello Mandy and "Gracie"🐾So good to see you tonight. Growing up in the 50s my mom would buy the A&P brand of that block of cheese but when I married in the 60s I bought and used Velveeta. I have always used Velveeta cheese until I started shopping at ALDI 20 + years ago. If you have an ALDI store nearby their brand of cheese is exactly the same and truly tastes the same but is 4.00 cheaper. It makes great grilled cheese sandwiches as well as is delicious in casseroles. I make this dish (home made hamburger helper) and love it with a side of peas. Thanks for sharing these recipes. Looking forward to your next video. Good Night😴 God Bless LuvYa! Bye from your digital pen pal from Ohio🌹
Campbell’s thrifty beef and bean bake. Recipe is on line. Use Velveeta instead of shredded cheese. It is so much better. I don’t even bake it. Just heat it on the stove and dig in. I’ve been making it for at least 40 years. Enjoy
Yes I would like to see more Velveeta recipes
Yes please. I use vegetable for just plain Mac and cheese, and cheese dip. Different then this one you showed. I used to love hamburgers helper when kids were small. I don’t make it anymore since I’m alone. Your recipes sound great! Thanks
Yes. Mandy more velveeta recipes please… thx for asking…
I went through successful cancer treatment a few years ago and meals on wheels brought me 26 two pound packages of government cheese which is velveeta. I still have 11 in my freezer. There just aren't enough Velveeta recipes out there but I do use it for Mac n cheese to make it creamy.
🙏🏾❤️that’s some good cheese 😋
Mmmm, those look good 😋
I scrounged around the Internet and found a recipe for broccoli-cheese soup, with carrots and onions shredded in, Velveeta and cream cheese, chicken bouillon or broth, all cooked in a crockpot. I'm sure you can find it with Google. My husband doesn't care for it much, but the kids and I love it 😊 Happy eating!
will be making the last one tonight! My family loves things like this for dinner with a salad. Thanks Mandy.
Thank you for your service in the Air Force!!!
Thank you for your Service ❤❤❤
Love it!! Delicious in so many recipes. Pour a can of Rotel in Velveeta and melt, you have the best dip for nachos, ever!!
I love velveeta in my dips. I make the sausage, rotel, and Velveeta dip. I will definitely try this. We used to eat a lot of this growing up and when I would make grilled cheese and different pastas, and Doritos chicken.
We used to eat it when I was growing up and I ate it a lot until I learned how bad it is for you. So I scaled back.
Haha😂 Steven was even more animated than he normally was in this video. He killed me when he Said "ketchup?" Guess I would love more Velveeta recipes
This something my mom would make many years ago so simple but so good .thank you
We love Velveeta! We use it for creamy mac&cheese, pimento cheese and the sausage,Rotel and Velveeta dip. So,please more Velveeta recipes,
Love this so much!! We always have Velveeta in the pantry!!
Can hardly wait until this weekend...we could be having a "Velveeta weekend"!!!
Hi Mandy!! I haven't used Velvetta in years. Delicious looking recipes. I'm bummed though, because hubby can't eat beans since his kidney cancer. They make him sick. Thanks for sharing!! That dip would be perfect for family get together during football season. 💜
All sounds delicious!!😋
Watching you and family, makes a great day😊
Thank you for you service sir.
Yes more please, can't wait to try them.
My favorite way (grandsons) to make velveeta is homemade mac and cheese with colby jack😊
I’m from WV. Maybe it’s just something my family always did but Velveeta was a pantry staple when I was growing up. My mom always melted it with butter and poured it over popcorn. 🍿 It also makes a delicious spicy sausage queso.
Update: I paused and commented before the last recipe and lo and behold… 😂 The only difference in our queso is we use the hot jimmy dean. Love your videos!
I'll have to try that ❤
Love it, mo please
Southern WV gal here today and it’s a staple In our household too! I can’t watch the video now as I’m working but I will tonight!!
I absolutely love it cubed and put in a bowl of chili! Yummy!
@@tammylynnplummer3 👋🏼 hi neighbor!
Our favorite way to use velvetta is cheeseburger soup in the crockpot! So yummy!
I’ve made homemade cheeseburger Mac for years! I always add chili powder and some Tony’s creole seasoning as well! It’s divine
Thank you so much for sharing these recipes!! It would be great to see more of your son and his options too! 💕🙏🙏
Yes please, more recipes. 😊❤❤
Love Velveeta!! The recipes look so good!!!
I love you guys! You crack me up!!!
We always have Veletta on hand. The dip is one of our favorites. Sometimes we just mix the Velvetta and Rotel when we just want something quick for snacking on to watch tv. I suggest adding chopped up jalapeños to it. Great video as usual!
