Just before lockdown I went to my local Fire Station and asked if I could take my 26 year old autistic stepson to visit as he loves fire engines. He told us to visit on the Saturday. He was given a full tour, sat in the fire engine, and even given the uniform to wear, photos taken, questions answered, so very professional. A massive difference to the police.

I was involved in a house fire about 35 years ago in a three storey house. The fire was on the ground floor which was engulfed with flames & smoke & the only way out was through the roof lights where I’d lifted one child & was in the process of lifting another child onto the roof, where I screamed at them not to move! From absolutely nowhere I was grabbed & whisked down the stairs & into the street. Seconds later, the two children were with me. I was a mess & believe that it if it wasn’t for these incredible human beings, the three of us would most definitely have died a horrendous death. You were always made very welcome, a cup of tea & occasionally a cheeky portion from the chippy.
We won the maintenance on police riot van (for a short while). The vans themselves were never looked after, not that I expected one, but you were never getting a cuppa 😆.

Brilliant fireman, i wouldn't say the copper wasn't too bad.
I preach on about the 9 policing by consent rules and he wouldn't really be doing his job properly if he didn't approach you if im honest.
His observation raised concern so he had to check, wouldn't say zero at all as you could have required assistance, and assumptions are what get them in trouble, we cant just expect his concern was out of fear like most of them, and if he didn't approach when a concern was raised that would be an assumption.
He honestly asked if you were alright and i think its important to not assume anything else, he asked the name but the training kicked in i guess, he smiled and didnt exactly treat you badly at all.

Bless all these people in the Fire Service, most people wouldn't be able to cope with the terrible tragedy, traumatic accidents and disasters they have to deal with as if it's just part of the job. Much respect and what a nice bloke at the beginning

What a difference between this fire department and the last one that told you they were too busy after calling the cops on you. This department invited you in without even asking. Every police officer should be required to watch this. The police have separated themselves from the general public and they are paying a price for it. And if they don't change their ways it will only get worse.

Absolute shoutout and RESPECT to the fireservice for being so pleasant, polite, professional, friendly and cheerful. Just goes to show what bullies the Police are, and how they act above their station! They should take a leaf out off the fireservice book! That's Public Service! We are paying for it!!!!!

That just illustrates the difference between public officials who are proud to serve the public in an open and honest way and those that are so paranoid they can’t treat the public with the respect and courtesy they deserve. That proves if!

Something about caring for others must attract decent people to the job.

Most fire station encounters have been very positive unlike many police interactions. It is understandable that the 3rd emergency service, ambulance, has not been audited as it is more personally involved with members of the public who may be in distress but i feel they should be audited, however with a great deal of discretion. They do an amazing job under great pressure so could show support for them.😎

What a lovely man the fireman thank you for all you do ❤ then you have the other end of the stick who can't speak to the public with any respect whatsoever and they wonder why their reputation is so bad . Staring him out wtf he needs a slap on his bum from his mum the little princess 😂
