CD's are the highest quality music format that you can use. There are no other compact digital forms that even come close to the format.
Watching Mark get thrown around the front passenger seat while in a power slide was the best part of this video for me.

Honestly, I kinda find it refreshing that Lexus didn’t go balls out giving this a bunch of track ready running gear. More practically focused on fun on the street, where 99% of these will actually spend their time.
Lexus always seems to nail it in that arena.
Lexus is a smart company. They know what there customers will actually do with their car.

This car is likely not going to depreciate that much. If you really want one you're probably best suited to get new.
look at GSF 2016 models, which are6 years old, and have high mileage go for 60k+
In Europe they depreciate very insanely fast. A lot of people don't like the brand as a performance brand. BMW and Porsche here are king in performance department

@@RK1FX True, but Lexus never invested that much money in Europe to go against BMW/Porsche or AMG, Lexus is more for US market.
I remember looking at used 2008-2014 IS-F's thinking they weren't popular new so they must be a steal by now. Nope. They all go for $25,000-$35,000 even with 100K+ miles. I've come to the conclusion that one of the best used values in this segment (V8 sport sedan from mid 2000's) is the Jaguar XF Supercharged (470 hp) or XFR (510 hp). They're way more reliable than I thought with the only consistent "gremlins" being the start/stop button not working, and the electronic rotating gear selector failing to let you out of park (that's a real bitch though). No high performance sedan is 100% reliable but the powertrain is relatively bulletproof. What I'm saying is I'd trust the powertrain in an XFR more than an E60 M5 or Audi S6 which are ticking time bombs.

I have a charger 392 and a credit score above 800. I paid 42k last year. Not only do I think the charger looks better, but it has a god tier zf8 and is faster.

My everyday car (98' Lexus gs400), with it's 4.0 V8 fully equipped was $52,000 this car now is 23 yrs. old, about to hit 200k miles, still drives better than most other new cars today, still extremely reliable, very worth the price when new!!
What is you gas mileage on that 4.0 litre engine??

I've an ISF and it's almost totally unnoticed on the road.
I wouldn't call the spindle front grille understated, but the rest of the car has very clean lines. That grille used to make me nauseous, but the more of them I see, the less they bother me.

I was going to buy a 350 but it was over my budget and traffic fucking sucks over here, so I pretty much never need more power than what a 250 offers. What I like about Lexus is these are cars you can own for many years. I still have my 2008 LX570 pushing 160k miles and it feels like it can go the same amount again without issue. This IS500 is definitely on my short list for a keeper. The old-school nature is also what will make it reliable in the long-term.
The more times Silver Back Jack slams Savage against the door on the track, the more I like this Lexus.
I love that this car exists. There's so much about it that doesn't work, or even make sense, but I'm so happy that this V8 gets to live on for just a bit longer. Great review as always, guys. You inspire me with every video 👍🏻
I have a Lexus V8 GS and is an absolutely beautiful car to drive even though it is 15 years old. And it feels as new as the day I bought it. I also have a Mercury V8 which is also in fantastic shape and is a joy to drive.

Because it looks better, feels better, sounds better, and is built much better. The experience driving this ever day will be better. Those are reasons that I never understand why they are overlooked.
The performance you will never see out of the competitors on the street is not a good enough reason to be so negative to this car.
While the Soundcloud rappers are all in trying to justify buying the ugliest BMW 3 Series to have ever existed, the bankers in the IS are laughing all the way to the office with their loan payments.
Looks better is subjective. It doesn't handle better than a BMW, that's a fact. It has a very weak exhaust for a V8 and that seems to be the general opinion. Mercedes and BMW sound better. And it isn't built better as BMW and Mercedes are the standard for this class of vehicle. Essentially all it has is reputation of reliability, yet pretty much any car purchased today in this series is going to last you five years and that's generally when people get new cars anyways.
If you're weight it beyond five years you're looking at a different demographic entirely as in people who cannot afford this car when it first comes out. That's an entirely different topic.

It's a luxury sedan, not even an M/AMG one, so yeah, its exhaust is not going to sound like an AMG. Sound is also subjective, similar to look, but a NA V8 sounds uniquely different to a turbo V8 or turbo I6, that's a fact.
In this respect, you also left out engine/power delivery feel, the smoothness of which from a NA V8 is largely accepted as more desirable.
You can't say it's not built better than its German competitors, then say it's only got reliability going for it. Being built better literally means it's less likely to fall apart.
If you think any car these days will last you 5 years issue free, especially performance vehicles like these, you really haven't spent enough time around people who do own these vehicles. They are much better than what we've seen in the past 20-30 years, no doubt. But it's not better than Lexus. Having your repairs covered under warranty is NOT the same as not having issues at all.
People who keep cars for longer than 5 years being a different demographic? Lol, half the people who buy these cars new do it to flex, and can't afford one unless they take out a fat loan, or lease it. For a car like Lexus, the longer you keep it, the cheaper it is to own. This is something people who are financially literate think out. People who don't give a shit about running costs (a direct correlation of reliability) are usually the ones who piss money away to flex. This is not to say rich people aren't part of the demographic, but what I'm trying to say is, you bringing this up is a non-argument.

The channel used to have amazing color grading and videography….now, it’s all that with kick ass sound design added. Production value has definitely gotten better…..and that’s saying a lot because there wasn’t much to improve. Love it

Mark, I would like to address your notion that folks who are looking for something to compete with any BMW M series will be disappointed in this new IS500. News flash... the vast majority of us Lexus owners do not purchase their vehicles to track them or to somehow allow for the same driving dynamics as other BMWs or any other German product. The new IS500 was ONLY designed for those folks here in North America who just want a little more of a power curve with the accompanying suspension dynamics that you so well described. As a Lexus owner yourself, your final thought about reliability is WHY any Lexus owner would purchase this new IS. And, reliability beats the pants ofF ANY OTHER vehicle out there, including your beloved German brands.
Obviously this isn't competing with a real M car. Its not a full F car, and the pricing reflects that. This competes more with like a 340i M sport package. And thats perfectly fine

@Robert this isn't meant to be a very practical car. It's specifically a comfy V8 cruiser with Torsen limited slip for ludicrous drifting.. bc the engines are ancient they're super reliable
@Robert Why does it need AWD? Most buyers worldwide don't buy AWD cars, and many performance-car buyers prefer RWD. Yeah, if you live in central Manitoba or up a mountain in Montana AWD would be a big attraction, but most people live where roads are plowed, or there is little or no snow.
A lot of people are complaining that this IS500 has the same interior as a 2014 is250 and is350 but what everyone needs to know is that TOyota and Lexus are about reliability and that this is500 is gonna be just as reliable 10 years from Now and the value of the car will sustain its value and other cars like BMW and Mercedes Benz will never be able to do the same

Great video, thank you for having such an honest review. As a guy in his late 30's, who's a diehard enthusiast, this car speaks to me. I would spend more money on this than a comparable M3, C43 or S4. The reliability, the sound, the absolute knowledge to know you can hammer this car day in and day out without any real concern, while also driving it to the office and smiling at small repair bills make this a future purchase for me, despite the "better buy" from the other guys. Well done Lexus, you have my money!
I've always wanted this but they're not available in my region 🇿🇦. I still miss my IS350. Lexus' after sale service is king and their cars are solid and really comfortable. Great review and outstanding production. 👍🏾

Looking to get a GS 350 '16+, they're so hard to come by in 🇿🇦... The IS350 is a bit cramped for me but otherwise I enjoyed driving it.
I really appreciate the honesty about where this car sits against competitors. But you are 100% right, it is an emotional purchase. If you are in the market for a car in the 50K+ price range, a few grand is not a big deal. I want a daily that is smooth, comfortable, reliable, and has a V8. I basically have one choice...IS500

Absolutely worth buying! Kudos to Lexus for having the courage to bring such a unique product to market.
I think that IS 500 worth every bit of it's price tag.
The car looks stunning, especially in this red color. The fun factor is huge and I can care less about latest gizmos and gadgets.
Great sound from naturally aspirated V8 and Lexus legendary reliability is something you CAN NOT find in its German competitors these days.
Build in Japan is simply the best. Their dealer network is awesome too.
Good to mention that this car will maintain its resale value better than any other car in its class.

Lol that's the only reason? You can probably have your center panel vinyl wrapped if it bothers you that much
If that's the only reason you should consider buying from some aftermarket interior piece sellers. You can literally swap every interior piece on your rcf to carbon fiber if you want. Also, the RCF is a true F and will feel more aggressive than the IS500. It's up to you though. I definitely like the updated screen and other pieces that this car has over the RCF.

I totally agree with you guys ! I’ve been looking into swaping my gsf for a lc500 because of you guys lol ! All my buddys think I’m crazy liking a Lexus while they drive m5 s63 , f80m3 g80 m3 , I just love the feel of a solid built car with no check engine light . Lol

Excellent review, honest and to the point. Loved the incorporation of the Japanese intro. Great chemistry b/w you and Jack, fun and informative at the same time. Sound quality and cinematography is awesome. Oh almost forgot about the car itself, what a machine, yep the Germans are up in technology dept but No one can deny Lexus/Toyota reliability. You can date a BMW but you should marry a Lexus.
Great sound editing: Purposefully drowning out Mark’s chatter with a V8, screaming tires, some wind noise.

@@squidproquo2241 is he really hating though? My impression was that it was meant to be a positive joke, the idea being that the V8 drowns out the criticism that the IS500 isn’t a track car, but the sound lets off when Mark talks about how it’s still really good fun
