    I wasn't carrying a utility until I was given one of these 2 months ago. I've been carrying it along with my regular set of knives and tools and it has seen more use than anything else because it is convenient, unobtrusive, and I don't care if it gets sticky from cutting tape, etc., but I didn't know how to change the blade. That's what led me to your video. Thank you for showing me how to change the blade early on in the vid and for your valuable insight. Appreciate you.

    I have watched a billion reviews of utility knives and surprisingly found the best one in Canada. I live in Hong Kong, and I had 5 of them shipped to me. Canadian Tire Mastercraft utility knives- over built, and impressed me right out of the box. All the floors are cement or marble here, and my knife was dropped from about 6 feet high. A tiny dent that didn't even scratch the paint. Button lock, 5 positions, belt clip, lanyard hole - the only thing that it doesn't have is extra blade storage.

    I love this knife as an EDC wish I had gotten it earlier. The workmanship is actually pretty incredible with no sharp edges all polished and buffed smooth for a knife at this price point, one of the few products I did not have to rework or rebuff regardless of cost. GreatStar Tools is the company that makes it for both WorkPro and Mossy Oak !

    I have one and for the money, it's excellent. They come in a 3-pack and I got two of those and gave three of the knives away to my family.
    I'll be flying overseas soon so I'll leave the blade at home and buy a blade when I get there and chuck it in the garbage before the return trip.

    Nice to see this review. Always interesting to see comparisons of these pocket utility blade tools. There are lots of cool ones now. One of the many interesting things about youtube is it gives an excellent opportunity to have a little insight into videographer's thought processes, especially over the course of multiple videos. It also kinda keeps you on your toes. Plenty of info to weigh and digest. This video is a good example. Not too long ago, there was a review on this channel of the first Gerber EAB knife shown in this video, and a description of how basically the pocket clip was cut off and a lanyard tied on. Now in this video, there's the complaint that the same knife grinds up things when it's pocket-carried (remember, the pocket clip was cut off). Later in this same vid, the non-lightweight version of the Gerber EAB is shown that still has its pocket clip. So, yeah, interesting review.

    If you want an everyday carry utility knife get the little blue handle sheriff field

    The thing I hated about these was that you have to really grind the edge of the blade against steel to insert or remove it. I took the blade out and put it back in a few times, and the edge was notched up and noticeably dulled afterward.

    Thanks for showing how to change the blade. I've owned one for a few months and wanted to flip my blade over, but couldn't seem to figure it out.

    • @SoundToxin
      @SoundToxin 2 роки тому

      @@irisrivera6761 Yep! I think the little bit that juts out to the side has me confused for a while, I thought you had to yank on that somehow instead of just squeezing on a flat part. Still using this as my go-to knife for opening boxes and envelopes so that I don't get a bunch of adhesive on a nicer knife. I just wish it wasn't such a stiff open/close and that it could be operated with one hand.

      I just bought a small slip joint, from Frost Cutlery, some 420J 2.5 inch blade. Its a knife I lend out at work to open packages and such, I think a slip joint might be less confusing than even a little utility cutter. So once I get it, I will throw in the mix and see how it goes.

    Fine job improvement on the EAB . Liked the anti-slip tape . The later style WorkPro has a matte stainless steel finish ,push button lock ,and an improved pocket clip . The push-button locks it open and closed . The clip fits the knife higher letting it carry lower in a pocket . Amazon 3 for $
    19.20 For a Chinese product it is of good value and quality . 11/22

    Two of the three that I got had lousy detents that would't keep the blade securely closed but what do you expect at that price.

    • @ShortcutReviews
      @ShortcutReviews  5 років тому +1

      I would take it apart and bend that lock bar as much as you can to the other side, and make sure the little detent hold is well drilled. You might also be able to tighten the pivot a little.
      I still can't work out any one hand opening, one hand closing it easy.

    Where did you get that version of the Gerber EBA? I bought one about a year ago. I didn’t have those ridges in the top or a protruding thumb stud.
    Then I lost that one, the only down side to its small frame.
    I just bought another one this afternoon at Walmart of all places.

      That's exactly what I have done for years, but have grown tired of fixing chips and constant sharpening, been using an old gerber eab with g10 side recently and its been great, was looking for an inexpensive alternative with faster blade changes. Will try this.

    Would this be strong enough for drywall, or is it mainly used for cardboard and light duty tasks?

    • @ShortcutReviews

      I would say it is not comfortable enough for heavy use. If you had to score one piece, sure. For 10, I would grab a different tool

    Eab lite destroyes this. Don't modify. I have both but unmodified the eab seems like a microtec vs this. Less blade area. No safeties, rough action. It is less weight but that blade rattle. Eab lite with no mods. Dude made an excuse that two handed open was ok after he made his eab unusable modding it for one hand open.. bro...
