I used to work installing commercial irrigation systems and my leathermans rusted really bad. I returned the surge and tried the rebar and it did way better in my work environment but still rust spots every day. I did not wanted to use my SAKs for a job they where not designed to do so I ended up with one of these for work. I lost it and it is probably burried next to a water pump but It got the job done easily. Thanks for the video.
I've used most of the utility knives that you showed in your video installing blinds in San Francisco and I can say without a doubt that I feel safe as hell in the Tenderloin and fillmore knowing that I have cutter just in case.
One time in intermediate it was Chinese class and I Had a Stanley knife with me, I was cutting an orange and I accidentally cut myself . I felt just a sharp glide / slices through my finger tip and blood was somehow incredibly pouring out, I felt no pain because the blade was so sharp then about 3 mins later a hot stinging disgustingly painful sensation runs through my bleeding finger. I heal up pretty good so I can barely far the scar now.
Yes we call them Stanley knives in the UK used for modeling or in trade by artisans like mechanics plumbers, carpenters decorators most have one in their tool boxes.
Awesome video, thank you. Simple, easy to understand yet made from a professional point of view. I just recently purchased an OLFA Heavy Duty cutter, i consider it a monster among the box cutters, cuts easily through meat and even small bones because its blade almost doesn't bend and sharp as a razor. What do you think about those, do you have one?
Box cutters/utility knives are banned at my company, too many guys were cutting themselves. We can only use hawkbill pocketknives. Safety department at our company are not very bright about knives.
Some company hr & safety people have no clue about real life, company i worked for didn't allow U to carry a gun in the semi,, (i did anyhow) picking up a load of oranges out in the grove with miles of nothing in either direction at 2am & dark to boot,,, if a wild hog or panther rabid fox Coyote etc attacks that safty person ain't gonna B there to protect me.
Working in the construction industry, we use our utility knives constantly on wood, plastic, tile, pipe, tarpaper, carpet, you name it, they are absolutely indispensable, but if you are going to be fighting, show some class, use a proper folder at least, preferably one with rosewood scales and brass bolsters.
I've never doubted the lethality of a box cutter. We all know of arm slitting as a suicide method, well a box cutter making a nice vertical slice up the forearm, its plenty long enough for it, also long enough for hitting the jugular. The ones with the snap off blades could possibly even make for a stabbing type weapon although perhaps with limited utility to do so considering the breakaway lines, other box cutters lack the length to do so. Any weapons lethality should never be doubted. It may be easier to kill a man with a sword than a simple box cutter like in the opening of this video, but that doesnt make it impossible. A .22lr can still incapacitate or kill a person, christ even a UK legal air rifle (above a certain power they are registered as firearms instead) could kill a person with a well placed shot. The neck alone is rather exposed and yet still contains the 2 carotid arteries (each further splitting within the skull) and jugular veins, blocking of just 1 carotid can cause stroke or fainting, of course should you be incapacitated and with a bleeding neck, fatality is likely without good urgent medical attention. I love firearms. I work with a box cutter daily. But no blade or projectile weapon should ever have its ability to harm doubted.
WeAllJuggleKnives What is your favorite utility knife for pocket carry? I work in a print shop and use them everyday. The company always give us junk and I am looking to purchase one that is of higher quality and is comfortable to carry in my jeans pocket. Thanks
I have a box cutter that has more blade then normal box cutters and its legal to carry because people think its a ulitiy knife and does the same damage as pocket knife.
I just bought 30 tungsten carbide utility blades from American Cutting Edge. It was a pretty penny. But I think it’s worth it. They’ll last a while I hope. We’ll see. Have you ever used the blades? P.S I just bought myself an ESEE 4. I love it. Camping, hiking, road trips. It goes with me everywhere.
my dad carries a husky folding utility blade as his edc, he keeps trying to get me to carry one as my edc. what is your or anyone in the comment sections thoughts on this topic?
I think people should EDC a small cutter like the Gerber EAB, along with a regular folding knife. Some jobs are too dirty to want to use the knife on, and cardboard dulls knives quickly.
That’s an excellent point and an important thing for people to remember. There is that old saying “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.” People often forget the “hope for the best” part! I think this gets into the whole idea of “balance.” I do believe that balance can be achieved, such as being aware but also upbeat and positive, know what I mean?
A family friend of ours got in a fight at McDonalds. I’m in Australia too. The other guy pulled out a utility blade and stabbed him in the forehead 3 times. He’s ok now but I agree, they’re easy accessible, cheap and sharp. Our knife laws are very strict but they need to be changed so that sensible knife users don’t get caught up in it. Most knife crimes are committed with kitchen or utility knives. You rarely hear of someone getting stabbed with a Spyderco or Benchmade.
The invisible knife concept reminds me of those boots with knife tips you see in the movies (aka RoadHouse). What an important video for folks to consider. I've always thought of how dangerous they were, but just went along the lines of what you said...they're everywhere. Very thorough warning and so real. Wake up call knife enthusiasts...
A similar thing happened to my friend. He was waiting at a bus stop in the middle of Birmingham (UK) city center, and a random guy just went up to him and slashed his face with a utility knife. No altercation of anything, just a completely random attack. He now has a huge scar on his cheek. He's not my only friend with a large scar on his cheek from a utility knife either. I have a friend who i met when we were working together in a factory. He needed a utility knife but they were all in use by other people, so he decided to make one by taping a utility blade to a ruler. He finished wrapping the tape around, and brought it up to his mouth to cut the tape by biting it. When the tape gave way, the blade sliced his cheek open. Lucky it wasn't his eye.
In the UK some idiots are putting a match between 2 utility knife blades and then fitting the whole lot back into the knife body. This is because a single cut can be repaired fairly easily in hospital and does not leave a bad scar. The two close parallel cuts are much more difficult to treat and will leave a significant scar. The oxygen bandits who use these aren't looking to seriously injure people, but want to leave them with scars as retribution.
Knife collectors are insulted by boxcutters lol i carry a 25mm snapoff in my overalls leg pocket every day. I need it flexable for scraping. Olfas and tajimas are super nice. I got 30 gallons of boxcutters lol
I love the new breed of tactical box cutter designs that guys like Michael Janich have been churning out lately. They combine the utility of a box cutter with the tactical combat aesthetics of a high end fighting knife. Tactical wharncliffes for the win!
I remember a while back I was trying to open an action figure out of the box. I slipped with the cheap box cutter and ended up cutting the side of my intex finger. There was a good amount of blood but luckily I didn't need stitches.
I don't use my good knives for cutting open boxes and packages and yes I carry a box cutter all the time. I have several different models and not all of them will flick open like say a Milwaukee fastback
These implements made the hijackings of 9-11-2001 possible in the first place. Also, a lot of people in large U.S. cities have been facially scarred by attackers wielding these knives.
100% knives are more dangerous than guns. While a gun does cover an incredible range, it gives away your position where as a knife is incredibly easy to hide and is completely silent.
I really enjoy your post they are informative and done intelligently, most people do not think about the possibility of a tool becoming a weapon that may be used against them until it's generally too late good video.
My moms friend was stabbed 7 times with a fixed blade knife while standing in line at the pharmacy. She had no idea she had been stabbed until she saw the blood. She actually thought the guy was punching her. What she felt was the hilt of the knife hitting her body after the knife had penetrated all the way in to her body. She made a full recover after spending about a week at the hospital. No major organs had been hit amazingly.
I literally just got a work brand folding utility knife from Tractor Supply and I noticed it is button deployable and it also locks in this strange convenient moon shape. I quickly realized it is the shape of a karambit yesterday. I could be wrong, I am not a experienced in knife knowledge and I only got l box cutters because I workplace is not very edc friendly and I honestly wanted to create a kit because there have been situations where a multitool would've been useful and I didn't want to get in trouble for carring a letterman and I want something less suspicious. FYI the area I work in is pretty dodgy it's had multiple domestic shooting (what is a knife gonna do against a gun IDK I guess peace of mind). Would I carry that in my pocket over a budget edc style pocket knife that I could quickly deploy, No, But I my opinion that thing is a budget switch blade and makes my old timer look like a butter knife.
I edc a foldable Cobalt carpet knife everyday and I have used it on people before when I had to I keep the blade kind of nasty on purpose meaning Rusty dirty whatever it's surprisingly effective when you cut someone across the face or the nipple they don't want to fight you ever again
Had to pull my shit out before cus dude came at me with a knife so I had to return the favor had guns pulled on me been in hella fights but low key that was a scary night I thought we where gonna kill eachother
On the other hand, all of the reasons why utility knives are super dangerous could just as easily work in your favor when YOU’RE the one carrying one, especially when you’re dealing with a criminal who’s trying to kill you or your loved ones and you know where to cut them so they’re guaranteed to bleed out.
You could hammer fist 👊 with the utility knife. Only for self defense though. If your attacker falls, you run. If they run in one direction, you run the opposite way.
scissors. really solid grip. double blade if needed. sharp. can be carried everywhere without raising eyebrows. and they can surely do a lot of damage.
Wtf really???!!! No questions huh? Till the cops pat you down for an unrelated reason. "Son, why are you carrying scissors?" YOU: "ummm because just in case I have to cut something open?" Cop "why not just carry a pocket knife?" You: "......"
Oh and plus the double blade won't help when you try to puncture, it'll just get stuck because the blades are going slightly parallel to the opposite direction.
Great vid. Do you know why I can't thumbs-up your videos on my tablet? I can everyone else. It says not able to perform function. I can't even see how many thumbs-up the vids got.

It's illegal to carry box cutter, utility knives and or snap blade knives in my hometown unless it is being carried for lawful purposes (legitimate work and or for the purpose of legitimate sport). Any person found loitering upon private and or public property while carrying one of the previously mentioned items will be cited and or arrested.
I know this is a rare occasion but the overall fragility of the blades can be a hazard. I had one snap on me while stripping wire (don’t judge) and it sliced my cheekbone pretty good. So thankful it wasn’t my eye.
In the U.K. I suppose there is one dominant brand of these utility knives, "Stanley knife". As another guy in the comment section mentioned they are used by thugs. They gained notoriety in football (yes that's "soccer" to all you Americans *rolls eyes*) hooliganism. Thank you for posting this video in what is probably a taboo topic among knife enthusiasts/collectors. For others being skeptical, think about the dangers of one of these things, your assailant would have a LOT of leverage and you have nothing to grab on to in an attempt to disarm (grab the blade and knock them out), just that tiny little blade that will slice straight through your hand. These things are no joke. It doesn't take much imagination to see what they are capable of. Great post.
On some utility knifes you can set the blade to be not as far out which would be good if you cut your self, but even then they are still very dangerous.
One thing about a box cutter/ utility knife is that if it haves a replaceable blade depends on what you use it for idk let's just say you cut food with it then you need to use it for work as a work intentional as long as you mark it or remember to stretch the blade around you some what all ways have a sharp blade with out worrying about destroying your blade like you do with a knife or at least I think so from my pass using a knife for everything .now going off of self-defense I go by there is a letter concealed and it's not the wappen is the handler but that's a different story my main point was the multi-use without having to destroy your knife from cardboard plastic light wood tooth pick you can allways have what kind of blade you
I use a 25mm Olfa knife at work every day, and a fresh blade is far sharper than most knives you'll see. It will cut through flesh and fabric like nothing.
I used one to cut some plastic and it went through more easily than expected and just barely tapped my fingetip and I bled continuously for an hour, not a lot but it would keep coming out. I was also a butcher for 9 months and never cut myself once. 🤷🏻♂️
Good vid!! Some points you made to sum you up 1. Beware of the hiden blade. 2. Good handle ergonomic help make a grate slashing blade. 3. Criminals don't put much into ther weapons. The want to terrorise with cheep tools and to have something concealable over anything else. I watched a video called serving edge weapons. This is a poilce training video. 70-80% of police that get cut with a blade never saw it. I watched this vid in TKD class when I was a 3rd dan almost 20 Years ago. This video gave real stories of police cut in the line of duty. This video scared the shit out of me at the time. I thought before watching this video a knife no problem. That lack of knowledge could have got me killed. It's an old video but covers defending against knives. This video talks about the 21 ft. Shoot rule that police have. A person with a knife can cover 21 ft. And stab a cop 3 or more times Before a cop can pull aime and shoot a gun.
In rikers island in New York they are doing serious damage with shaving razors they are taking them off the shaver and attaching them to a tooth brush.
They're EXTREMELY sharp. They're freaking razor blades. They aren't designed to be sharpened, they're made of cheap disposable steel. They'd make some vicious add ons to brass knuckles.
Many years ago I was working in a warehouse. After opening a box & forgetting to close the blade I accidentally stabbed myself on the back of my left hand! Thrusts from a box cutter certainly are not as bad as a cut but I still had to get 2 stitches & bled a good amount. Survivable yes, but still not something you'd want to happen on the street.
Interesting vid, I once saw a 65 year old man stop a 24 year old weight lifting hard ass with a dollar store box cutter. The old man had been in jail many times and could not carry a weapon. Both were not the greatest characters to be around but when you need a job you need a job if you know what I mean and at the time that was the only one hiring.. The young kid threatened him and charged, the old man flashed a break off box cutter with the blade all the way extended. The kid backed off in a hurry. They will do a lot of superficial damage up close and personal. If I had no other choice I would carry one for self defence but it would never replace the compact 9mm or small frame 38 revolver that I edc. Being in situations like the one described above makes me think about life differently. I could defend against a box cutter bare handed but Im sure Id get cut up.It would only be deadly in skilled hands when an artery is cut. I know one thing it made that young hard ass think twice! Im sure the old man had seen more than his share of small blade attacks in jail too. Im glad I no longer have to work in that environment anymore but i still carry protection.

They are razor shard thats what they are retractable razor blades that can be replaced by snapping of the dull blade segment.
Due to its thin blade it is unnoticable sometime
People use them to cut gosh

Bro, what about using scissors as a seldf defense weapon
You don't need a very big blade to kill some one.
Just something big enough to hit the carotid, axillary, or femoral artery. That'll about do it.
All knives can kill but it tends to take a lot of effort
sometimes killing someone aint the goal. box cutter can fuck someones face up bad and leave scars for life
enough to hurt people

wow, i cut myself on the finger with a box cutter while trying to cut cardboard watching this video lol
most are used for drywall flooring and electric work I carry one every day
I used to work installing commercial irrigation systems and my leathermans rusted really bad.
Are you just figuring this one out? Razor knifes are a very formidable and dangerous knife if someone wants to use it as such.
+RC Ward - I know, but many people underestimate them.
Yeah they are not "sexy" but in a pinch they could do a lot of damage that is for sure.
*****
I'm not afraid of xeno! LOL.
Like straight razors
Damn this is probably why boxcutters were banned at my school this shit is scary
I have one that doesn't retract. What can I cover the blade with to keep it from being a threat to the fingers in the tool pile?
Yes we call them Stanley knives in the UK used for modeling or in trade by artisans like mechanics plumbers, carpenters decorators most have one in their tool boxes.
I'm now using mini folding blade for my self defense weapon.I call my weapon "zee's toothpick"
Sergey Mayorshin Thanks! I have 2 different Olfa Cutters, haven't tried the HD one though.
Box cutters/utility knives are banned at my company, too many guys were cutting themselves. We can only use hawkbill pocketknives. Safety department at our company are not very bright about knives.
Damn, my company just gives them out to inexperienced workers with little to no warning on safety precautions
Some company hr & safety people have no clue about real life, company i worked for didn't allow U to carry a gun in the semi,,
(i did anyhow) picking up a load of oranges out in the grove with miles of nothing in either direction at 2am & dark to boot,,, if a wild hog or panther rabid fox Coyote etc attacks that safty person ain't gonna B there to protect me.
And by "confused situation" he means drunk off their asses
Box cutters are sharp cut my thumb and could clearly see the knuckle so sharp I didn't feel it until I saw it
Great sentence no punctuation
Aldo the Apache who gives a shit
Amen brother, well said.
Selfharm is not sucide etempt
WeAllJuggleKnives What is your favorite utility knife for pocket carry? I work in a print shop and use them everyday. The company always give us junk and I am looking to purchase one that is of higher quality and is comfortable to carry in my jeans pocket. Thanks
I have a box cutter that has more blade then normal box cutters and its legal to carry because people think its a ulitiy knife and does the same damage as pocket knife.
I don't want to be near your room in a tornado!!!
I will have to check those out! Great call on picking up an ESEE 4, I love ESEE blades.
Dont forget several planes FULL of people was hijacked by dudes wielding boxcutters 😴
my dad carries a husky folding utility blade as his edc, he keeps trying to get me to carry one as my edc. what is your or anyone in the comment sections thoughts on this topic?
I think people should EDC a small cutter like the Gerber EAB, along with a regular folding knife. Some jobs are too dirty to want to use the knife on, and cardboard dulls knives quickly.
Thinking of getting him the cold steel mini tuff for him for xmas, disposable blades are pretty weak
Gerber EAB lite in the change pocket, R2D2 (Ontario Rat 2 in D2 steel) beside my "tactical pen" in the main right hand pocket.
A Stanley Retractble Utility Knife is the one that I carry
That's a gold parent.
Thankfully we live in a world where most people don't want to hurt others
That’s an excellent point and an important thing for people to remember. There is that old saying “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.” People often forget the “hope for the best” part! I think this gets into the whole idea of “balance.” I do believe that balance can be achieved, such as being aware but also upbeat and positive, know what I mean?
BUT that seems to be QUICKLY changing for the worst
You get cut then go home and put a bandage on it?
In the UK some idiots are putting a match between 2 utility knife blades and then fitting the whole lot back into the knife body. This is because a single cut can be repaired fairly easily in hospital and does not leave a bad scar. The two close parallel cuts are much more difficult to treat and will leave a significant scar. The oxygen bandits who use these aren't looking to seriously injure people, but want to leave them with scars as retribution.
Ah yeah, they do that in US prisons, too, they call it a tomahawk because the old razor blades were tomahawk brand.
Knife collectors are insulted by boxcutters lol i carry a 25mm snapoff in my overalls leg pocket every day. I need it flexable for scraping. Olfas and tajimas are super nice. I got 30 gallons of boxcutters lol
I got a nice new utility knife just the other day, compact with an axis lock: 9TIEDC UTILITY KNIFE: Orange: s71.co/40dTRUy
I love the new breed of tactical box cutter designs that guys like Michael Janich have been churning out lately. They combine the utility of a box cutter with the tactical combat aesthetics of a high end fighting knife. Tactical wharncliffes for the win!
One wise rule. Everything sharp can kill.
I remember a while back I was trying to open an action figure out of the box. I slipped with the cheap box cutter and ended up cutting the side of my intex finger. There was a good amount of blood but luckily I didn't need stitches.
Well said. Iv just brought the Milwaukee fastback today and it’s actually my first tool from Milwaukee and I like it so much Iv ordered a 2nd one
Excellent! I use mine almost every day!
I don't use my good knives for cutting open boxes and packages and yes I carry a box cutter all the time.
I have several different models and not all of them will flick open like say a Milwaukee fastback
I love how he try’s to explain what a box cutters
LOL.
I love how you edited your post and the grammar is still shit.
These implements made the hijackings of 9-11-2001 possible in the first place. Also, a lot of people in large U.S. cities have been facially scarred by attackers wielding these knives.
Holy shit! I'm not botherd about box cutters but the thumb nail drew me In! Is that a man cave or a knife draw! :)
Brilliant! Thanks for the info and warning. I use a box cutter or blade everyday in the warehouse. Great review. Ty.
100% knives are more dangerous than guns. While a gun does cover an incredible range, it gives away your position where as a knife is incredibly easy to hide and is completely silent.
You can add one by Dan-O tools. The only utility knife with a built-in pencil for marking nad cutting.
I need a nad cutter.
I really enjoy your post they are informative and done intelligently, most people do not think about the possibility of a tool becoming a weapon that may be used against them until it's generally too late good video.
+Peralta Insurance Thank you for watching!
Don’t disregard the shock and awe value of deep slashes, plus the vulnerability of tendons at very shallow depths.
I actually have a holdster for one lol. My best tool and most versatile weapon if the need may be.
great video, as usual. i was wondering what two knives on the left side of the screen on the left of that knife with the brown handle?
I edc a foldable Cobalt carpet knife everyday and I have used it on people before when I had to I keep the blade kind of nasty on purpose meaning Rusty dirty whatever it's surprisingly effective when you cut someone across the face or the nipple they don't want to fight you ever again
Had to pull my shit out before cus dude came at me with a knife so I had to return the favor had guns pulled on me been in hella fights but low key that was a scary night I thought we where gonna kill eachother
I have the red Milwaukee box cutter and I love it
On the other hand, all of the reasons why utility knives are super dangerous could just as easily work in your favor when YOU’RE the one carrying one, especially when you’re dealing with a criminal who’s trying to kill you or your loved ones and you know where to cut them so they’re guaranteed to bleed out.
I use my dewalt to open packges and mail and if I have to fix the screening on my back porch or front screen door
Apparently Corn Pop attempted to use a rusty box cutter against Brandon in the 1930s...
You could hammer fist 👊 with the utility knife. Only for self defense though. If your attacker falls, you run. If they run in one direction, you run the opposite way.
You need them for sheet rocking .
scissors. really solid grip. double blade if needed. sharp. can be carried everywhere without raising eyebrows. and they can surely do a lot of damage.
Wtf really???!!! No questions huh? Till the cops pat you down for an unrelated reason. "Son, why are you carrying scissors?"
YOU: "ummm because just in case I have to cut something open?"
Cop "why not just carry a pocket knife?"
You: "......"
Plus the handles would stick out of your pocket....omg dude. Just carry a knife.
Oh and plus the double blade won't help when you try to puncture, it'll just get stuck because the blades are going slightly parallel to the opposite direction.
The 9/11 terrorists used box cutters when they hijacked the planes. Investigators apparently also found 2 fold-out style utility knives.
Great vid. Do you know why I can't thumbs-up your videos on my tablet? I can everyone else. It says not able to perform function. I can't even see how many thumbs-up the vids got.
survivethat2012 Some UA-cam features will not work on mobile devices, and tablets, it seems. Thumbs are enabled but not displayed, so it's normal not to see them, but you can thumb up or down on a non-tablet, non-phone.
I got cut by a boxknife theres a line on my back
they are really good for cutting wooden mdf boards with bare hands.I make my replica knives with the utility cutters
You do know in the uk they tried to ban kitchen knife
It's illegal to carry box cutter, utility knives and or snap blade knives in my hometown unless it is being carried for lawful purposes (legitimate work and or for the purpose of legitimate sport). Any person found loitering upon private and or public property while carrying one of the previously mentioned items will be cited and or arrested.
I always have a knife with a scalpel blade attached to it
Cut to the bone
Great post.
oh ok its fine I'm just sick of people insulting my country.
Sad that some people use box cutters to commit suicide...why didn’t you include that in this video
Sorry, I have not heard of that trend.
Hannah baker
I work at sonic and they have box cutters every where
On some utility knifes you can set the blade to be not as far out which would be good if you cut your self, but even then they are still very dangerous.
One thing about a box cutter/ utility knife is that if it haves a replaceable blade depends on what you use it for idk let's just say you cut food with it then you need to use it for work as a work intentional as long as you mark it or remember to stretch the blade around you some what all ways have a sharp blade with out worrying about destroying your blade like you do with a knife or at least I think so from my pass using a knife for everything .now going off of self-defense I go by there is a letter concealed and it's not the wappen is the handler but that's a different story my main point was the multi-use without having to destroy your knife from cardboard plastic light wood tooth pick you can allways have what kind of blade you
Box cutters are really really sharp..Once i was holding it and just checking it.I touched its sharp side and it gave me three big bloody cuts
Seriously though it's a pretty insane world we live in. One just never knows what awaits around the bend.
Is that the Milwaukee Elec.Tool 48-22-1901? Cool looking utility knife. I use my Mini Tuff Lite as a box opener at work. Guess I'm a snob.
these kind of videos of yours are the most significant you make bro ..... totally agree with you !
I use a 25mm Olfa knife at work every day, and a fresh blade is far sharper than most knives you'll see. It will cut through flesh and fabric like nothing.
You have plenty of nice and large box cutter and letter openers on the walls behind you :)
I'd bet there are more injuries from box cutters than any other type of knife, but mostly self-inflicted from improper use.
I used one to cut some plastic and it went through more easily than expected and just barely tapped my fingetip and I bled continuously for an hour, not a lot but it would keep coming out. I was also a butcher for 9 months and never cut myself once. 🤷🏻♂️
Great video, i've always been thinking the same about box cutters and utility knives.
Good vid!!
Some points you made to sum you up
Great idea how would one go about doing that
Many years ago I was working in a warehouse.
