- One of our favorite plants of all time, Tulsi is a beautiful medicinal herb that attracts countless bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. Find it here: www.fruitionsee...
I bought this on accident a year ago and its my absolute favorite. I love the earthy flavor
Oh my! The sweetest story! Wishing you armloads of tulsi this season :)
Beautiful video 🥰 I love Tulsi, I drink the tea every day and it really helps with any type of pains I’m having and definitely with stress. She isn’t called ‘The Queen of Herbs’ for nothing 💕
You're by far my new favorite horticulturist on youtube!
Thank you so friend, and don't be shy :)
I went to the agro shop one day to purchase seedlings and picked a seedling with an "extra"plant in the cell, tiny purple leaf plant. Took it home and low and behold I got me a free tulsi 😁
I am amazed looking at the way you have grown basil!! Great!!
The only downside I’ve had with tulsi is that it makes me pee frequently but the big plus is that it has help me relieve the inflammation around my finger joints.
Nico Five’0 I just started growing it and my plants are still young with just a few leaves on them. This is one plant that can’t grow fast enough for me especially after reading your comment❣️
Then you need to drink a lot of water as the water and tulsi cleanse inside
You are great this plant does so much to nature it is part of cycle bees strive on these flowers and we all know how good are bees for nature without them we would starve to death
Love the lush garden.
Oh god! Look at those lovely flowers.
Wondering video full of great info 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
Strange question maybe, but is it the same as blue spice basil? I grew both this year and they were exactly the same. I’m wondering if the blue spice pack was filled with tulsi seed. I love tulsi and basil lol!
Great video thanks, I wonder if it will grow here in Phoenix Arizona. It gets pretty hot
holy roller India is very hot , it needs lots of water , so my friends from India tell me, they grow lots of pepper there also.
Hi, I'm NOT in Arizona, rather the opposite here in Wisconsin (!) but I have an aunt in Phoenix area who gardens and I know for many things, you do have provide more shade in the summer. Or, for annuals, grow them in other times of year (compared to much of the US), such as winter, or Autumn/Spring. If this is the case with herbs like basils, u can save seeds then for the next season. You'd have to look it up obviously, research any plant your interested in. Often u can also glean a lot of info from seed catalogs, some give more than others. Johnny's seeds is a great one for that, as they cater to the market growers. I don't usually buy from them, but keep a catalog for the info :). Pinetree Garden Seeds, Baker Creek, and Seed Saver's Exchange have a good selection, better than most probably when it comes to herbs, & unusual or rare types and varieties.
Also may be of interest to u is to look for gardening YT-ers in the SW, & to check your local library for books on it too.
You should cut all of the seed pods if you want more and more Tulsi leaves on your plant. Pruning makes it bushier.
Thank you!
This used in Ethiopian dining and called besobela በሶብላ specially with ‘alcha msir wet’, it’s a stew maid with lentils and has a kind of light yellowish colour that comes from a pinch of turmeric. It also used as an ingredient to prepare spices. And now I was searching how I could plant it leaving outside Ethiopia and to prepare the stew using it. Thank you for this video.
I want some of this stew!!!
Tulsi ghee. Wow. I have seeds starting and I’m excited to learn to grow this beautiful basil. Thank you!
Holy basil is a key ingredient my fav Thai street food Pad Kra Poa. Defs got plenty of culinary uses
'Pad Krapao' (stir-fry Holy basil with Thai Chilies and Garlic with pork/chicken/beef/shrimp/seafood etc.) is probably more of Thai's national dish than the 'Pad Thai' (noodle dish). It is pretty much everywhere and not just street food.
This was already awesome then doggo made me so happy ! 1:17
Great video.
Hi from Boca Raton! Love the puppies ✌️✌️✌️💚💚💚
Where found this flower
hi what kind of tulsi is this, and where do you live since you can plant them outside
How do I grow it??
I'm jealous of the beautiful bunches of Tulsi.👍
wonderful. thanks for the information
What? No it's pronounced just as it's spelled. Tulsi.
@@joeyodonnell123 no it's Tulsi.
@@cherryswachan I stand corrected my apologies yes it's pronounced with L. In Marathi there's a 'd' sound.
No it isnt are you crazy
I've been researching the lifespan of Tulsi plants. Some people say they live between 1 and 3 years. But I have a few specimens in my garden that have lived for nearly a decade and are still incredibly prolific. I suppose it's the growing zone you live in. Anyone else have success with Tulsi plants over wintering and living beyond the 3 to 5 year mark? I have one potent Vana tulsi that will officially be a decade old after winter this year.
I have a single Vana Tulasi (forest basil) that has being growing satisfactorily indoors over 6 years now. Not too many leaves are there, but I prune it whenever the plants flowers and almost each year a new shoot comes out of the roots while other branches shed leaves and dry out. I live in the USDA 3 - 6 plant hardiness zone around 3000 feet above sea level. This year I have a Greek Columnar Basil indoors doing well in October, but we will wait and see how the harsh winter here affects the plant.
Do you use the leaves or the flower or both as a tonic or tea?
i got a question if you touch that plant does it produce that aroma , cuz even just touching it accidentally it gives that wonderful aroma or it might be another type of tulsi
Wondrous! Though certainly other Tulsi relatives (and many mint family folks!) may do the same, what you're describing resonates with our experiences of the Tulsi we grow, so ready to share its phenomenal fragrance, it's true
Where can I buy tulsi basil for my garden? Or seeds?
how do you keep the slugs from eating it all??
There are a couple ways to battle slugs. The first and simplest being, take away slug hiding places and habitat. If you have lots of vegetation on the ground or pots or wood that they could be living under, clean it all out and they will have less place to reside. You can turn to solutions like Sluggo, which we use here on our farm when we are desperate. You can also try cups of beer or vinegar. They will crawl into the cup as they are attracted to the beer or vinegar and will drown. If you use that method, you will need to place lots of cups out as it only attracts slugs within a few feet of the cup.
Tulsi she who is closest to God.
This made me cry with happiness.
What is the scientific name / exact variety of Tulsi in this video? There are several varieties. Some bush others more tree like.
Was wondering the same
Rama
The name is Ocimum tenuiflorum.
Ocimum tenuiflorum / Krishna tusli
Is this the same as perennial basil. I grow easily from cuttings
Very easy to grow from cuttings
Just love this channel🌱
Tuisi seeds please 🙏
is there a way tu buy from your shop and receive in the Mexico?
Nice informative video. Great dog too!
Used to make tea. I use the violet/purple variety commonly and the stem is used as a tootbrush or a chew stick instead of a toothpick
Does your Tulsi survive the winter?
Gorgeous!
Can give me some seeds .l can by from u. Please 🙏
You are awesome! 🙏
I bought this plant for it’s pretty purple flowers and only ate the green leaves. Had no idea it had so many benefits. Yeah the flavor threw me off 😂 but I’m glad I tried it.
Nice garden
Love your video.
INDIA the scienfically rich country......million of years ago our scientist( rushi, munis ,sadhak ) proved it ll
Love your Tulsi plants. They are so beautiful. Where did you get these ? I am looking for the plant from a long time. However I got seeds but they are not growing.
We grow them on our organic farm! You'll find them here and we are so honored to share them with you :) www.fruitionseeds.com/Organic-Tulsi-Holy-Basil-p/h10.htm
Thank you so much! I live Southern California.
I think u not India that's why
It is naturally grow in India
Thanks for the info
Thanks
It’s the key ingredient in the Thai dish Pad Krapoa
btw, the pronouncation of tulsi is more like a mix between tull-see and tool-see it’s like the sound you make when you say pull but with a little bit more oo to it 😊
Sara G - You say tomato and I say tomato. To-MAY-to and to-MAH-to. So, yeah...
@@virvisquevir3320 yeah but in english both "toMAYto" AND "toMAHto" are correct. Whereas tulsi has one specific correct pronunciation.
Is this the same as
Please don't forget that it's the main ingredient of Thailand's national dish.
Tulsi is an word from India meaning the incomparable one. There are many types of Tulsi in India from different Ocimum species. Richo Chech from strictly medicinal seeds has done some research on this basil in the video and it is likely to have an African origin.
Tulsi is our mother according to Hinduism🥰❤️
Wow !
I learned about holy basil from a anime :- and it works with curry but it can It can mess up some good ingredients and it’s rare to get them fresh in Japan I think
Wow your plant looks so beautiful but I don't think it is holy basil we grow in India its leaves are different .
How many dogs do you have?
Rama tulsi while Krsna tulsi is purple.
I love your dog!!!!
Great video
❤
Actually didn't know this was just adding it into soups and beans
Wow
Sumatran Basilicum (Peppery and Minty at the same time), known as "Holy Basil" native to Sumatra
New here. I like it a lot.
Great - now there's FOUR different Scientific names associated with this plant.
Taste like a blend of basil and mugwort.
Only use tulsi leaf, once she,s finished with the leaf. ie dead or disgarded leaves. She is a live GODDESS in the form of a plant. If you pluck a leaf it hurts her .REALY BE CAREFUL PLEASE
Please stop plucking tulsie leaf. It herts her .she is a GODDESS ...
We actually eat it in the Middle East
You
👌🏾🕉
Tolsi
Ur dogs jus pissed on them
shads z helps it grow
Please don't chew the leaves people, I hear it strips the tooth enamel. Hare Krishna!
This is not Tulsi
Jai shree kalki ram
I'm sorry but this had nothing to do with growing it. You said the same things of how you like it several times using different words but yet you still didn't say anything helpful
Protect the plants from 🐕
FYI, These are not "holy" basil plants but yes they are a type of it. The "Holy" basil leaves never grow this big and they smell amazing. Someone missold you.
The package of seed's is listed as holy basil and yes smells amazing and if taken care of grows exactly like in this video , been growing for years
Disappointed. There's nothing about growing the plant in this video. The title needs to be changed.
Madam your video is far on the plants.
Better to have close up photo on it.

In southern part of the Philippines, we stew this in our Sinigang soup dish to make it aromatic..
