- Perennial basil is wonderful. There are various forms of sacred basil and tulsi in Morag's Garden and to her they are essential in a thriving permaculture garden. They attract so many bees and provide important protection for little insectivorous birds - who help you manage 'pests'. They are also a wonderful source of culinary and medicinal herbs. Listen in to learn more about how to grow, harvest and use these wonderful plants.
Feel free to share this clip and all Morag's youtube clips!

Tulasi, is actually worshiped in Vedic culture as the Goddess of Devotion, every home cares for her in their court yard. One important thing to know is to never burn or heat her it is a great offence, she is always place on top of food preperations after they have cooled a bit and offered to the Lord, she is most dear to Him. Thank you Morag for sharing her with everyone, simply by having her at your home she purifies the entire area and creates a peaceful atmosphere, where no negative energy can linger.
Thank you for sharing this Brisa
What a beautiful treatment of the plant!
Ok to make as tea?
Thank you 🌌😌🙏
Tulsi tea is wonderful for anxiety.
A great plant that self seeds readily! Smells amazing.
Still growing it! I have volunteer seedlings that pop up in pots. Still can't get over the smell. I'm starting some more seed I've collected. Going to keep some inside, in the greenhouse, and some to plant out for the spring.
I kept some trimmed in a windowsill over the past two winters. Cheers!
I love my Tulsi. Lovely fragrance too. Where I live our winters are not very cold and the Tulsi re-seeds itself. I got my seeds in US from Strictly Medicinal. I've been able to obtain hard to find medicinal and culinary herb seeds from them. And, their seeds always germinate for me. Never a fail.
Where can I get these seeds please? Thank you
thanks Morag what a lovely way you have about you...blessings :)
Thanks Susan
I recently traded for seeds of the sacred basil! Very excited to get this going! 😁
I was gifted a Tulsi plant ....perfect timing for video...I am excited to be able to propagate so I can grow it throughout my whole garden area ! Thank you ! I love your videos !
I've just bought a plant this week from my Local garden centre where I live in South Aus, along with Aloe vera, pineapple sage, Lemon balm as well as other other medicinal style herbs as well for making teas, so have good variety now. I'm not expecting a lot of growth just now, as Adelaide can get quite cool, this time of year. but looking forward to starting to make my own teas straight from my garden once they get established. so thank you for the videos on different medicinal herbs, its helping this newbie get started.
Thank you 🙏🏻 Will have to try these
This was so informative and relaxing to watch. Thanks so much!
You're welcome. Thanks for tuning in.
beautiful view
Thank you
I took a piece off the plant outside my doctors office last year because it smelt amazing, potted it up and now i have a lovely big plant thats always buzzing with bees!
I have never heard of sacred basil or tulsi, so interesting these plants, need to find some and grow it, your home and background looks amazing Morag where you live in Australia, have a wonderful day :0)
My Thai Basil plants always have bees around it. Whilst some of my neighbours in our small community have issues getting pollinators around, it seems that these plants have not only survived (and thrived) during the crap weather that we had last year but also provided a good food source for animals. If not for several Aussie permaculture and homestead channels such as your own, I wouldn't have had them on my radar. I now need to get more established, along with some purple basil which also did well last year.
Whilst I still have a long way to go to create a self-perpetuating garden space, I am in a significantly better place than the same time last year.
Dianne,
Central Queensland coast
I'm in Vermont, USA. Will the holy basil survive here?
wowowowowowow

Good wisdom I love what you are doing I really want to join you on this channel
do they need a lot of water? It's very dry here where I am
Hi Morag/Hi all
How different is Wild Basil from the other basil herbs?
Thx for the feedback
Where can I buy this perennial basil Plant?
I also have never heard of these basil’s . How would they do in a northern cold climate with deep frost and snow ?
Unfortunately it is a subtropical / tropical herb :(
But you can also grow them in pots. We also got snow and frost here, so I overwinter mine inside and put it out in the garden at summertime.
Yes, fine I the summer here (Oregon) you could save seed or start cuttings to take inside
To what zone are these perennial, do you know?
Maybe 10b
Thanks!
