Liked before I got 1 min into it! I guarantee there will be haters on this one….. forget them! There is only one way to make a gumbo! And that is however the hell you want to do it! Keep doing your thing and sharing your wealth of knowledge and quirky way of doing it.
I have friends and family from Louisiana. They can make a damn good pot of gumbo in a short time.
For some reason people think it takes hours.

looks good, I always deslime my okra by frying it with a little flour coating, when it cooked into the gumbo, it takes the slime out, and helps thicken the gumbo a little.

Wish I could find some of your seasonings, but Walmart don't have any that I can find in the seasoning aisle, unless I missed it. Guess I'll cook up some deer tenderloin soon here in MS. Make sure your beer is COLD, and stay hydrated. Be safe in the kitchen
I've ised those roux before. The're fine. You'll never know the difference. Plus most people don't realise how long you got to stand and stir to get a dark roux
You can easily get a dark roux in under 10 minutes if you know what you’re doing and you use a heavy-bottomed pot. I do that every time I make a dark roux.

Gumbo ain’t never cheap! Seafood ones I made for myself end up never going below 7-8 per person when all is said and done. Stalecracker’s chicken sausage gumbo definitely didn’t cut back on the ingredients❤❤

It is good. It's just flour and oil, a real roux, and they use technology stuff to get the right color. It's 100 percent consistent jar to jar. HOWEVER ... a jar costs around 7 bucks, whereas making it at home is under a dollar. I call jarred roux "emergency roux." That 7 bucks is insurance if I eff mine up.

Seriously what is hard about gumbo? I just made some andouille sausage and spicy chicken gumbo yesterday and it's so easy! The trick is using REAL chicken stock (boil your chicken parts and use the stock) and make your Roux the color of a penny! Forget all this canned stuff! 👍
