Just want to say thank you for this video. I changed my valve covers with the OEM kits last week and it went great. I did end up cleaning the underside of my valve covers with Super Clean as well, changed all the spark plugs, and coils. A little white smoke for a few seconds, probably from the cleaner. Car runs like a champ!
Best one I see. That's the proper way of removing things unlike other videos they don't remove some other parts in the way jus work around n not disconnecting it. Like a lazy kind of mechanic
Thanks to you and EricTheCarGuy I was able to do the rear valve cover gasket with little difficulty as without a vice the gromets are next to impossible to get off without completely destroying them
This looked easy until you had to strip out the interior, remove the dash, cut out the firewall, and unplug the entire wiring harness, then it looked like it was harder than I thought it would be! 🙂 Excellent video, one of the best I have seen on UA-cam. Great job!!!!
This video was perfect! I was able to change both valve cover gaskets and cleaned up a lot of leaves and nuts in the engine bay (go figure). Tested it and no leaks. Thanks so much! p.s. any chance you'll do a timing belt change for the TL? Subscribed!
Nice video ! I had a 2003 S2000 ap1 . It was a blast but a little cramped for my size . Now I have a 2005 TL with the factory 6 speed , front Brembos and limited slip . Its almost as quick as my S2000 Was and nobody really trys to race me like they did in the S2000 .
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 prepping to get this done and I think I’ll get the other gasket as well while I haven’t done it yet and my oil leak isn’t too crazy yet lol
Excellent video! I have the same issue of my front wheels looking a mess due to the oil leaking. My bank 1 catalytic converter has gone bad, so I think I might do the converter job along with this and, if possible, pull the converter out past the rear valve cover while it is off of the car. I have read posts on Acurazine of people doing it that way. You are supposed to remove the drive shaft for the job but I have not had good luck removing the shafts on my TL. I have an 2008 with 206 k on it and it runs great. It will be cool not having my wheels looking a mess shortly after they are cleaned. Even more importantly, not having oil leaking period.
To get the rubber gaskets out. Place the cover in the oven for about 15 minutes at 375 degrees. Once done, remove the cover and face it down. Get the flathead screwdriver and stick it in the gasket at an angle. Hit it with a hammer or palm. They will fall right out.
What year is that Acura TL cuz I have a 2005, I know 2004 to 2008 are pretty much the same. But from what I'm told some have to head gaskets and then somehow just one. Or maybe I'm just mistaken
Would bad valve cover gaskets also cause any misfire issues? Because, I recently replaced all 6 spark plugs and coil packs and 3 days later, the misfire of banks 2, 4 & 5 happened. What else could be the cause of misfiring?
@@JayP19AD Yes. This time around, I had cylinders 1, 3 & 6 that were misfiring. I had bad tube seal gaskets. So, oil was all over those spark plugs and coilpacks. I just went ahead and replaced all 6 of the tube seals and valve cover gaskets since I had the covers off anyway.
Should we change intake manifold gasket while we're here? I have 250k miles. Just tryign to save labor and time. I rather do it all even if it's not broken.
Check your codes, its probably something you forgot to plug back in! It will be a sensor or a hose to a sensor but the ecu will throw a specific code for what you need to look at
Major omission no valve clearance and using old intake gasket. Don't fear buying oem Acura parts. Why comprise on quality parts when you bought a quality car. Felpro is ok when oem is not available.
The best instructional video on youtube hands down

i am about to do this on my TL! thank you for your help i really owe you baked goods

You're confusing that with headlight bulb replacement. 3 hours minimum. Trust me 😅
Thank you for the detailed description of the name and function of each sensor and line you removed to do the job correctly.
This video was perfect! I was able to change both valve cover gaskets and cleaned up a lot of leaves and nuts in the engine bay (go figure). Tested it and no leaks. Thanks so much!

The best video for this task ever! Some are just wrong! Beat out Chris Fix by far!

Nice work, I would have checked valve clearance while you had access
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 prepping to get this done and I think I’ll get the other gasket as well while I haven’t done it yet and my oil leak isn’t too crazy yet lol
Nice work. I have to do that on my 2013 accord v6 (2dr). Only the front is leaking but obviously going to do both.

Great video.. helped out .. did my 2005 accord v6 3.0 … torque specifications 👍🏼
Great vid
I hate those plastic covers
Good video, lots of useful insights! Thanks 👍
Thank you very much for your help, you explain very well, thank you
Nice work thank you show me a lot going to take me a little bit but I'll get it done
Fantastic video thank you for the extra detail
I don't even own a acura or Honda. But this is some knowledge I didn't get at wyotech lol

Fantastic video
If you do my car , I don't ever feel like a ripoff. What a wonderful mechanic u are
Lmfao you earned a sub for that bagel content
Very good video well explained 👍
This is the same exact way i removed and replaced my valve cover gaskets. You must have the Factory sm
Are there two plenum gaskets? I keep seeing bundles with two
Would. Have checked the valve lash, just saying, good vid
Do we also need to replace throttle body gasket? I have a pilot 2012
Might as well
Would this be the same for 09 acura mdx?
What year is that Acura TL cuz I have a 2005, I know 2004 to 2008 are pretty much the same. But from what I'm told some have to head gaskets and then somehow just one. Or maybe I'm just mistaken
Did you change the intake gasket as well or NO ???
Great video
my valve covers are broken at the spark plug seal holes, would you think that the valve cover is interchangable? i have 05 RL
Why not clean inside of the valve cover also get all that gunk out make everything last longer and prevent engine sludge from forming in future 😉
Would bad valve cover gaskets also cause any misfire issues? Because, I recently replaced all 6 spark plugs and coil packs and 3 days later, the misfire of banks 2, 4 & 5 happened. What else could be the cause of misfiring?
Could be bad wires?
@@JeremyFromOregon Ok. I haven't checked the wires. Thanks bro
I know mines is misfiring bad, but I noticed a lot of oil on the backside spark plugs could be bad gaskets letting oil in???

@@KeizorSoze1did your car end up working good after you changed the tube seals? i have oil all over the coil pack in cyl 1
@CarsNToys So did changing the valve cover gaskets reduce your brake disk dust?
Did you disconnect the negative battery?
Should we change intake manifold gasket while we're here? I have 250k miles. Just tryign to save labor and time. I rather do it all even if it's not broken.
Why not to clean the underside of the cover?
I was thinking the same thing
Una pregunta se tiene que pulgar el aire acondicionado ohh no
How long does this repair take
Did all of this and after putting it all back together my check engine light is on? Any ideas?
Check your codes, its probably something you forgot to plug back in! It will be a sensor or a hose to a sensor but the ecu will throw a specific code for what you need to look at
@ Thank you I checked everything and the Check engine light went away on its own after two days. Im still not sure why but im glad its off now.
Where are the list of tools you used
Nice video !!!!!! Your are a “monster” 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks 😆
Thank you for not using a screwdriver to pry off the covers!
Would've been a good time to check valve lash.
Major omission no valve clearance and using old intake gasket. Don't fear buying oem Acura parts. Why comprise on quality parts when you bought a quality car. Felpro is ok when oem is not available.
May as well do a valve adjustment while your in there too
He got hungry and decided to have a lunch lol must be 5 hrs job including filming and clean up
Always organized, and meticulous.
13mm on a Honda ?
You said 16 lb ft of torture?
Then you draw the owl
Engine oil is not getting on your wheels.. haha
Nice job, but man that engine has a lot of varnish on the valve train.
NOTE! Why doesn’t anybody tell anyone about putting thin CUT washers under the bolt heads. Torque. Problem solved!
DONE. 30 minutes.
nightmare
If you're any type of decent mechanic this job only takes 45 min to an hour. But good job
If you want a V6, go Toyota. I4 is Honda’s domain. Let’s not make this complicated…
Says only you bud
Lol my 09 Acura eats any stock v8💀😶🌫️
My J35a8 in my 07 TL Type S won Ward's 10 best engines in 2005, 2008, and 2009... Honda's have been making great I4 and V6 engines for decades
@@champanedout **Nissan VQ35’s entered the chat (FYI I have a UA6 TL and I agree)
@hostilehalo7345 Yeah right says my 16 Camaro SS😅
FelPro is garbage man lol OEM only
No link for the plenum gasket? 😜 I mean, if you're ordering the valve cover gaskets..........
Doesn't matter how to unloosen or tightened 😏 factory bullshit
