Funny thing, the Hondas (and Acuras) of this lineage and newer won't let you lock the keys in a running car. If you have the door open, you can't lock the doors.
I always liked this TL. Perfect size and proportions, clean design and predictable steering with a smooth V6. A bit thirsty on gas in city driving tough :P

An old trick I learned about a day ago, having the car off and turning the steering wheel to the right will lock it. One of the anti-theft features I forgot about because usually it's if you turn the steering wheel to the left. I tried it again just to make sure and yep, it locked. Loving these videos man, keep em coming!

Yeah, my 05 Pontiac Vibe was the same way, I actually hated the DRL's cause they weren't a separate bulb and I would keep burning out my headlights, so I just applied the parking brake one click and would be able to drive without the DRL's on and just the one click was not enough to actually apply the parking brake, had to deal with the brake light on, but eventually I just took out the bulb!

I own a 2006 for 15 years now and love it still to this date. It always served me great. Battery had issues and had to replace transmission but that's expected.

Another feature is your windows being able to roll up and down without being inside the vehicle. You do this with the key in the door on the exterior. You have to lock/unlock first to perform this. Lock it with the key by turning left, then wait a second and turn it again. It won't make the lock sound but it will roll up and if you turn right to unlock and then turn right again it will roll down.
I knew my 12 TL could do it with the key fob, but then I tried it on my daughter's 07 TL and it also worked with the key fob. My oldest daughter's 06 TL wouldn't do it though...just when the key is inserted in the door
Just because YOU knew about it doesn't mean others haven't, they can still be hidden features to some. Especially, newer drivers, not familiar with vehicle features.
you have to use the parking break for the most common LED conversion for your DRL. The wipers also decrease when at full stop prior to the "courtesy" wipe. Thanks for the video.

I have a 2007 TL S-type, 6 speed manual. Not all apply to mine, e.g. starting up by just 'flicking' the start key. Maybe that is a difference between std and automatic transmissions.
Wow, the ignition switch it literally a tap to turn on the car? That's kind of like push-button start. I wonder if Newer hondas have is as well (the ones without push button)
In the 6 speeds the wipers are controlled by vehicle speed on fastest wiper intermittent speed. Will wipe every 5 seconds at stop, after 3 mph they start going constantly.
Dennis Ablang They should already be illuminated. If you have your headlights on, all your interior lights will illuminate including the blue LED lights on the ceiling. If they're still not working, then they are probably burnt out.

I have a 2004 Acura TL and my Navigation screen is black but radio works I have removed the Navi DVD and cleaned it and put it back in and still I have a black screen when I turn my car on is there anything I can do so I can see my screen also the screen does light up just no visual of anything
You will need to replace the navigation dvd reader, located in the trunk.. I had the same thing with mine the day I bought it. Check out ebay for a decent price. Its easy to do, just costs money
Hi. I have a 2006 Acura TL. Runs great, has 49K on it and I love it. BUT! Recently had a battery issue and the clock on the dash reset itself to 1:00. Went into the system to reset, even though it has Nav I was hoping to reset the time (manual says you can't reset time with nav). The Navigation clock is set at 00:00 and none of the controls to reset it work. Am I caught in some kind of loop? Help!
Just loosen the positive battery cable at 1:00 and re-attach it immediately. The clock will be reset and start at 1:00. If it's detached too long, you may lose your radio settings. Have your radio/nav code handy. Our Nav software is outdated; therefore, adjustments from the screen don't work.
My mom's 2019 honda pilot has the same sunroof controls- I cant believe honda has been using that same switch for so long! If its not broken, dont fix it right?
you forgot one on the wiper feature.. if you leave the wiper setting on full intermediate. it will adjust wiper speeds while driving. 0-10mph it will be a timed wipe. after that the wipers go to normal speed wiping. once you come to a compete stop. the wipers will stop as well and go wipe every so often.

Im new owner to a 2004 3.2 lt an the drl is not working i replaced wit new bulbs i changed relays an fuse .. an i notinced its somthig to do wit te e brake . When i lower it the light logo on the dash glitches or like flash . I herd therea connection issue like how the xonnecter the lights to the engie to the e brake some funy buisness like that ay tips .. or herd also it could be the module

I have an 08 TL...my seats are leather and are completely ripped up. I take very good care of this car (original owner) and am disappointed that Acura doesn't have better leather material in these models. I have 2 friends that have 07 TL and they have the problem. I looked into having them replace but its very expensive. Any suggestions?
dawn bull I know many online retailers sell leather seat covers for a relatively low price and they look pretty good as the color is almost an exact match to the original leather in the car. I don't know of many other options unfortunately.
Old post but I have a 07 TL Type-S with about 202,000 miles. My seats are ripped to hell also and I took care of them. Cleaned them regularly once a month. That's really my only issue. There's no easy fix, I just bought some cheap black seat covers.
Dawn Bull Unfortunately for the past 10 months I have been looking for leather seat covers for my 2008 Acura TL they do not make inexpensive seat covers that look as good or even close to the cars original seats. Reupholster it will cost me approximately five to $600 Per seat front only. I tried junkyards with no luck any other ideas are gladly accepted. Thanks
Jeannie Vance same situation for my 2008. If you’re mechanically inclined you can buy quality replacement seat covers (~$150) and install them. There is a UA-cam clip with a couple guys showing how to do it. Haven’t tried yet. In the mean time, my black duct tape is doing a pretty good job.

I own an 05 Acura TL 6spd.. I love it . Its my dream car within my budget, fun to drive. I had an extended warranty that help with some issues. One of the worst problems is the craced dashboard, that has now disabled my air bags. I have had some expensive repairs, putting in a new clutch, master etc...$2500. dont like that acura wont backup dashboard issue.
That's how my car is it looks like someone sliced it bc I just got it a month ago like that and it sucks but how much did u pay to get just ur dashboard done
There is a sensor that corrects for whatever octane you put in. The engine will adjust just fine with no issues whatsoever. You will lose maximum power though. If you plan on racing it or just doing some spirited driving use premium otherwise you'll be just fine with 87 octane.
@@z33tanner Thanks for that suggestion. That's pretty cool. I've been using a Dice iPod integration cable as an aux in for my phone which connects to the XM input. I'll have to try that Bluetooth adapter.
When I hold the "1" and "6" then push in the "power" then let go of "power" then letting go of the "1" and "6" the ELS light does turn red but when i press "1" it switches to green but I hear a constant bass sound in the back of the car and when I turn on the radio the ELS light shuts off but I still hear the bass sound until I repeat the process and turning the light back to red then hitting the power button. what's up with that?
Eric Hearst I'm not too sure. My TL never had that noise. I believe the button turns on and off part of the ELS system, it's possible that a bad electrical component could be causing that noise if something related to the ELS is turned off. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as it still sounds good after doing the button process over again.
Thank you for the reply!!! On more thing. lol When I hit the little phone with a face button located on the left side of the steering wheel nothing happens. It lights up and looks like it works but it doesn't. Also when I try to use HFL it just says "booting up" but again... nothing happens... I have no radio, navi, or battery problems so I don't think it's a module.... so what else could it be???
Eric Hearst your HFL module is inoperable. It will stay on and cause a constant battery drain. You'll be able to feel the center top of the windshield is warm to the touch of the rest of the car is cool to the touch. This will drain your battery. There are videos describing how to disconnect the module, and either replace it or live without hands free calling.
They should both light up, but the bulb in the passenger's heated seat switch in my car burnt out, so only my driver's seat switch lights up when the driving lights are turned on.
@@TECHNOKILLER612 Nope. I did preemptively change my 3rd and 4th gear solenoids though (it takes 5 minutes) after reading about them online . No problems what so ever. Changed the fluid twice since I got it at 105k (km) I'm at 185k now. My favourite car so far. Reminds me of my first car 1990 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe, she had a 3.8L supercharged V6 with a LSD and adjustable suspension dampening that firmed up at 88mph (Back to the Future?!). F'in Beast. If I had the money I would buy that car again instantly. I actually had them in the same garage before I was forced to sell it, Its body was rusted to dust anyway from our salty Canadian winters. RIP
eduardo serrano You can only play music through the aux. But you can buy a Bluetooth to aux adaptor that you plug into the aux jack in the center console. Then when you press the aux button on the radio, you can play your songs wirelessly by turning on the Bluetooth on your phone.
Irais Chavez I'm not sure, but I know Acurapartsnow.com has a lot of diagrams that show where parts are located throughout the car. If you search under the engine, electrical, or sensors menu, the knock sensor diagram should be there.
I've got a '04 Acura TL. How can I connect my iPhone via USB to the car to play music through the stereo speaker ? I tried connecting through the cigarette lighter port, but the phone isn't even charging.
Unfortunately, the TL didn’t have an aux port until 2007. There weren’t any USB ports, and the Bluetooth only works with phone calls. You might have to buy a retrofit kit to install a usb or aux to play music from your phone through the speakers
All of these "hidden features" and many, many other "secrets" can be easily found in your owners manual 👍🏻 Don't tell anyone, but this "hack" that I just shared with you, it works on all modern vehicle 😱

Wavey mT The problem could be related to a number of things. It could be a bad wheel speed sensor, a bad abs sensor, a faulty abs control module, or a faulty VSA module. I would try disconnecting the vehicle battery for 15 minutes and then reconnect it. Also, check the fuse box in the car and the relay box under the hood for any bad fuses.
On my 2006 TL with a manual transmission I couldn't get the ELS light thing to work and my daytime running lights don't come on when I release the parking brake. In fact, I don't think the DRL's ever come on unless I turn on the headlights.
I’m trying to figure out more trouble shoot methods for my nav/camera my screen won’t turn on anymore just black but before it used to turn into a like a blue error screen sometimes. Any clues anybody :)?
I really I enjoyed your video a feature not provided in the video with the wipers is not only do the wipers work with the breaks also in the same setting after you hit 5 mph the wipers kick on to their fastest setting but once you come to a stop they return to the intermediate setting
Just about all these features were found on my '03 Accord EXL V6. The only feature I wish it didn't have was a transmission that destroyed itself every 50k miles...

I learned in 2003 that a pontiac grand-am "running lights" will also shut off if u just pull the e-brake ONE or TWO clicks. i bet this is the same way.

The parking break one isn't really a secret. That's common in all cars.

That I believe is toggling the Active Noise Cancelling system on or off.

The lights can be on “AUTO” for the DRLs to work also

04-06 do not have DRLs. The light in your headlight is the fog light. You turn it on by rotating a ring around the left stalk.

My 06 without navi won't do that trick either. It does look like there's a light under the ELS but it never comes on.
I have an 08 TL...my seats are leather and are completely ripped up. I take very good care of this car (original owner) and am disappointed that Acura doesn't have better leather material in these models. I have 2 friends that have 07 TL and they have the problem. I looked into having them replace but its very expensive. Any suggestions?
dawn bull I know many online retailers sell leather seat covers for a relatively low price and they look pretty good as the color is almost an exact match to the original leather in the car. I don't know of many other options unfortunately.
Old post but I have a 07 TL Type-S with about 202,000 miles. My seats are ripped to hell also and I took care of them. Cleaned them regularly once a month. That's really my only issue. There's no easy fix, I just bought some cheap black seat covers.
I got a leather repair patch on Amazon for like $15. It works well!
Dawn Bull Unfortunately for the past 10 months I have been looking for leather seat covers for my 2008 Acura TL they do not make inexpensive seat covers that look as good or even close to the cars original seats. Reupholster it will cost me approximately five to $600 Per seat front only. I tried junkyards with no luck any other ideas are gladly accepted. Thanks
Jeannie Vance same situation for my 2008. If you’re mechanically inclined you can buy quality replacement seat covers (~$150) and install them. There is a UA-cam clip with a couple guys showing how to do it. Haven’t tried yet. In the mean time, my black duct tape is doing a pretty good job.
The 98-02 accord ex has the courtesy wipe feature as well. Kindve odd for those cars for how incredibly basic they were

Twila P. Yes, but only the base TL engine. The Type-S engine is a little larger and won't fit without modifications.

I own an 05 Acura TL 6spd.. I love it . Its my dream car within my budget, fun to drive. I had an extended warranty that help with some issues. One of the worst problems is the craced dashboard, that has now disabled my air bags. I have had some expensive repairs, putting in a new clutch, master etc...$2500. dont like that acura wont backup dashboard issue.

Lol..I've been using 87 in my 2005 base line tl since 2005. 189,000 miles an zero issues.
There is a sensor that corrects for whatever octane you put in. The engine will adjust just fine with no issues whatsoever. You will lose maximum power though. If you plan on racing it or just doing some spirited driving use premium otherwise you'll be just fine with 87 octane.

I think that means your surround sound is off. Green is on. I think it's meant as a diagnostic tool to see if yours is working or not.

When I hold the "1" and "6" then push in the "power" then let go of "power" then letting go of the "1" and "6" the ELS light does turn red but when i press "1" it switches to green but I hear a constant bass sound in the back of the car and when I turn on the radio the ELS light shuts off but I still hear the bass sound until I repeat the process and turning the light back to red then hitting the power button.

Eric Hearst I'm not too sure. My TL never had that noise. I believe the button turns on and off part of the ELS system, it's possible that a bad electrical component could be causing that noise if something related to the ELS is turned off. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as it still sounds good after doing the button process over again.

When I hit the little phone with a face button located on the left side of the steering wheel nothing happens. It lights up and looks like it works but it doesn't. Also when I try to use HFL it just says "booting up" but again... nothing happens... I have no radio, navi, or battery problems so I don't think it's a module.... so what else could it be???
Eric Hearst your HFL module is inoperable. It will stay on and cause a constant battery drain. You'll be able to feel the center top of the windshield is warm to the touch of the rest of the car is cool to the touch. This will drain your battery. There are videos describing how to disconnect the module, and either replace it or live without hands free calling.
Do your heated seat buttons light up when you turn on the driving lights?
They should both light up, but the bulb in the passenger's heated seat switch in my car burnt out, so only my driver's seat switch lights up when the driving lights are turned on.
If you ever replace your switch lights, please make a video and show where to get it, I don't think anyone has made one yet, but thanks for the Info!

@@TECHNOKILLER612 Nope. I did preemptively change my 3rd and 4th gear solenoids though (it takes 5 minutes) after reading about them online . No problems what so ever. Changed the fluid twice since I got it at 105k (km) I'm at 185k now. My favourite car so far.
Reminds me of my first car 1990 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe, she had a 3.8L supercharged V6 with a LSD and adjustable suspension dampening that firmed up at 88mph (Back to the Future?!). F'in Beast. If I had the money I would buy that car again instantly. I actually had them in the same garage before I was forced to sell it, Its body was rusted to dust anyway from our salty Canadian winters.

eduardo serrano You can only play music through the aux. But you can buy a Bluetooth to aux adaptor that you plug into the aux jack in the center console. Then when you press the aux button on the radio, you can play your songs wirelessly by turning on the Bluetooth on your phone.

Irais Chavez I'm not sure, but I know Acurapartsnow.com has a lot of diagrams that show where parts are located throughout the car. If you search under the engine, electrical, or sensors menu, the knock sensor diagram should be there.

I've got a '04 Acura TL. How can I connect my iPhone via USB to the car to play music through the stereo speaker ? I tried connecting through the cigarette lighter port, but the phone isn't even charging.
Unfortunately, the TL didn’t have an aux port until 2007. There weren’t any USB ports, and the Bluetooth only works with phone calls. You might have to buy a retrofit kit to install a usb or aux to play music from your phone through the speakers

Hey I have a VSA light issue can you help?I have a 2004 Acura TL
Wavey mT The problem could be related to a number of things. It could be a bad wheel speed sensor, a bad abs sensor, a faulty abs control module, or a faulty VSA module. I would try disconnecting the vehicle battery for 15 minutes and then reconnect it. Also, check the fuse box in the car and the relay box under the hood for any bad fuses.
On my 2006 TL with a manual transmission I couldn't get the ELS light thing to work and my daytime running lights don't come on when I release the parking brake. In fact, I don't think the DRL's ever come on unless I turn on the headlights.
You don't have DRLs on your 06.
I’m trying to figure out more trouble shoot methods for my nav/camera my screen won’t turn on anymore just black but before it used to turn into a like a blue error screen sometimes. Any clues anybody :)?
I really I enjoyed your video a feature not provided in the video with the wipers is not only do the wipers work with the breaks also in the same setting after you hit 5 mph the wipers kick on to their fastest setting but once you come to a stop they return to the intermediate setting

Just about all these features were found on my '03 Accord EXL V6. The only feature I wish it didn't have was a transmission that destroyed itself every 50k miles...

I have 2005 Acura TL after diagnostic test at the end it display error code 88 bottom corner left and right and blinking.

I learned in 2003 that a pontiac grand-am "running lights" will also shut off if u just pull the e-brake ONE or TWO clicks. i bet this is the same way.
