Seeing that I'm getting oil leaks, my guess it's my valve gaskets. This was a 10/10 execution and demonstration. Thank you so much. Update: changed my valve seals and everything. No more leaks. It definitely took some time taking everything apart, but I also cleaned all my components too. Great video
Professional job of being very descriptive on specs, tips, tools, and procedures without any rambling with useless b.s. that many cloud their videos with. Thank you!
Hello!! Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this video!! I'm learning as I go (I've tried my whole life to get a trustworthy mechanic to take me under their wing and teach me but have never been successful in that regard ~ despite coming from a long line of mechanically inclined family members, none were ever willing to teach me "because I'm a female who should be more interested in becoming a nurse or something feminine"....) Naturally, I've chosen to teach myself and I'm doing well with it!! I'm working on an 05 for a neighbor and making a few bucks for it, so I'm incredibly grateful for this ride-along video. It helped a ton with a couple of questions I had!! THANK YOU!!!
Excellent video RIX. I own two Hondas and your videos are extremely helpful. Very precise with very helpful info. Thanks for sharing. I'm just a retired aircraft mechanic who enjoys doing his own maintenance. Artie 👍👍👍
I enjoyed your video thanks. Just did mine before looking at your video. What i found was removing the rear cover very difficult with the wire harness running over the valve cover. I looked at your video to see how you did it but unfortunately you did not, wish you did.
Great video man, will help me accomplish this job soon. Is there anything specific to be aware of for changing the spark plugs as well? Such as a specific torque spec for installing the new ones? Thanks again
Excellent vid, I've got a 2000 Acura 3.2TL that has an excess amount of oil in the Pellem, do you think it's the same gaskets leaking, no oil is visible on the outside of valves or manifold.
This very same gasket caused a leak on my ‘05 TL, and it soaked the exhaust manifold with oil. Is that bad for the manifold? Can I just clean it off and forget about it after replacing the gasket? Thanks!
Frank Leone you’ll want to clean off all of the residual oil the leak left behind. Most will burn off however in severe circumstances it may lead to combustion. Thank you for watching!
I picked up one of these cars and was intimidated by it. After watching your videos, I'm actually looking forward to doing some work on it. But is the torque wrench a must or kind of a luxury for this job?
I've worked on my TL for a couple of years now and it really isn't as intimidating as you might think. Not very intense to work on the TL but do expect to take a couple of hours if it's your first time. I guess you could always consider torque wrenches to be a luxurious option but it's a worthwhile tool to invest in. You don't want to under-torque the valve covers or intake plenum and you definitely don't want to over-torque them either. I would recommend getting one if you plan on working on your car in the future. That being said, 8~16 lb-ft. of torque isn't too high so you might be able to get away with using a standard wrench but I wouldn't recommend it for this job. These bolts are so tiny that too much torque and you'll snap the bolt halfway in.
Mary Reed I wouldn’t consider it a must because the job can still be completed without one however to do any job with certainty & confidence you will need one. Without it fasteners are likely to be broken, stripped, over tightened or under tightened all of which may lead to fluid leaks or other consequential damage.
Johnny I use genuine OEM Honda parts and fluids. Parts can be found at your local dealer. May also have luck finding someone selling them online. Good luck! Thanks for watching.
Why don't any of these videos discussing replacing Honda valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals actually SHOW THE PROCEDURE OF REMOVING THE OLD SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS They are typically rock hard and fused to the valve cover, I would LOVE for just ONE of these videos to actually SHOW THE PROCEDURE for getting them out. Not "describe" it in a voice over, actually SHOW it. My guess is that this guy actually went and grabbed a whole other valve cover from the salvage yard with better condition tube seals, since they are virtually impossible to get out, then just did a commentary on "I have the new spark plug tube seals in."

Fantastic video so well put together but it is obvious this is beyond my abilities. If you would please what can I expect for cost from a shop ?

About to do that this morning, 🙏
Is there anything else I could do while everything is off in the back etc - other gasket or o-rings for common leak areas?
Will this solve my exhaust in the coolant and overheating issue???
great video thanks for help
ulises Perez my pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Does this also apply for a 2000 honda accord v6
Do we need to drain the engine oil before replacing the gaskets?

Rix automotive are you located in NY? And how much would a vc job would cost ?
Sir, I’m doing valve cover gaskets and tube seals. I’m having trouble lining the front valve cover up. Any suggestions ?
Excellent
Good job
Would you agree that when doing this job. Go ahead and change the spark plugs?
If they're in need of replacement this would be a good time to replace the spark plugs since you already are removing the coils!
Thank you!
My pleasure! Thank you for watching 👍🏼
So is this the exact same motor on a 2004 Saturn vue?
Can u put a link to where i find get these parts
