Great upload Maggie, great topic, again another video of yours where I learned lots of new things about rock and roll, punk etc. Glad you were OK after the recent hurricane, interesting to see footage from your area and the debris from it. I can imagine it would have been terrifying! America gets lots of extreme weather! I am from Scotland, but live in Perth West Australia now, and looking forward to seeing the Buzcocks playing here in Fremantle tomorrow evening. Thank goodness these bands that should be in the rocknroll hall of fame are still going today, kicking ass and selling out venues. Keep these great videos coming. Be seeing ya 👍
Thanks for the compliments and for watching another video! Hope the Buzzcocks were great. Sad that Pete Shelley is now gone. I follow Steve Diggle on FB and I know they are touring a lot these days. Yes, they also deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. The people there probably don't even know about The Buzzcocks. Be seeing you!
@WhyNotGoPlaces , Buzcocks were great Maggie. I was impressed by how much energy Steve Diggle had throughout the whole concert. Great to hear those classic buzzcocks songs played live again. Yes, shame about Pete Shelley, real character, sadly missed, but his songs live on. Take care and I look forward to seeing your next upload 👍
I love your passion for rock n roll, not just punk but the forebears of Elvis and early rock. I’m 64 and totally relate to your story growing up in the 70s and being into Bowie and punk. Joy Division deserve to be in the Hall of Fame!
Thank you so much! I'm 66 so we're about the same age. RocknRoll made my life so much better as a teenager in the 70's. It was my friend, my savor. It helped me get through. Thanks again!
Thx for that honest rock hall revue! I went to the chess “studio” in Chicago in 2018 and felt the history there. If I ever go to the states again, Memphis and Sun sure is the goal. Rock n’ Roll & Punk Rock 4 ever! 🔥
Hi Maggie, Another great video. Sorry its taken a few days to leave a comment, but I've been a busy boy! Nice to see a clip on Glen being interviewed amongst other cool bits. Looking forward to the next one. All the best and glad the hurricane kinda missed you. Andy 🇬🇧
Hi Andy, Yes you have been busy! Those Alice Cooper shows I bet were great. He does a fantastic show. The last time I saw Alice was at the Greek Theater in L.A. around 2018 and Deep Purple were also on the bill. I see Glen is playing a lot next month so you'll be busy again. Thanks for watching this one!
The first I read about the Sex Pistols was in a Rock Scene issue in summer of 1977 I think. Then the hard rock station here in Dallas did like a hour show about it and I was sold.

The fact that such an inspirational moment in music history has little, and thrown together what little they have, shows how mainstream and tacky these places are.
Thanks for sharing another great video. I really like how emotional you get when you talk about music sometimes. It shows how much you care. I also respect that in the past you mentioned that you still like John Lydon even though your politics don’t match. Not many people can separate stuff like that these days. I look forward to future videos and look forward to a Joy Division video some day.
Thanks for watching another video! I will get to Joy Division at some point. Yes, even though I don't like his politics, I still love him. I love that letter he wrote. He had so much anger towards the music industry. Love it!
They had a huge sex pistols project, at my local museum last year, it had interviews, old photo booth, bill grundy interview, and lots more it was amazing, also saw uk subs, ten pole, members, chelsea, and lots more all playing 02.
Hi Mark, Sounds like you have a great museum nearby. We went to the Orlando Museum recently and they had a punk exhibit on posters, flyers, fanzines. It also included photos by Sheila Rock. I bought her book there. It was really good. I filmed it so I'll probably upload soon. Hope you're well!
Thank you! I know I'm not a professional speaker and can repeat myself and say "um" too much, but I'm working on it. It's a labor of love and I appreciate your comment very much.
Thank you Andrew. They were very conservative, and I was treated as an outcast. None of my siblings ever bought records or went to a rock concert, so I was very different from them and my parents didn't like it. I left home at 20, moved to London and was much happier after that.
It's a shame that punk and hard Rock never got much space in the museum It was so important, it changed people's lives and inspired people. It's a shame ,a disgrace really
I agree. I think that place is run by a lot of older people who loved the 60's music - Dylan, Beatles, folk - but they hated punk and metal. You can tell when you're there. There was a lot of space given to folk, the Stones, Beatles - which is fine - but they didn't like rock in the 70's. That was my impression anyway. Thanks for watching another video.
Hi Andrew, Yes, thanks for thinking of us. It was a scary night. I thought the roof was going to blow off. But we're fine. Sometimes I wish I didn't live in Florida. Too hot for me and the hurricanes are getting more frequent. Thanks for tuning in. :)
HEY MAGGIE, CAN YOU MAYBE DO A VIDEO ABOUT ADAM & THE ANTS IF POSSIBLE. LOVING YOUR CHANNEL AND YOU CHEER ME UP FOR THE DAY WITH YOUR WARMNESS AND DEDICATION. THANKS FROM LIVERPOOL , UK.
Hi James, I liked Adam and the Ants and I remember seeing them when they first came to L.A. to play, but I don't think I'm an expert enough to do a video on them. Thanks for watching in Liverpool! One day maybe I'll visit your town.
Hiya Maggie, another interesting vid! It’s such a shame that about 80% of the bands you mentioned are (or were when alive) friends who really shaped the early punk scene (especially in NY); c’mon! As you said much not represented such as goth, hardcore; pitiful display for punk😢. “Dick” Manitoba lives up to his name & The Dictators weren’t anywhere as influential as he’d try to convince you, that was such a random item (he thinks so highly of himself- & shouldn’t for reasons left unsaid- he prob donated it🙄). I know friends who’ve had Pistols, Ramones stuff (& other metal, RnR bands) on loan to the museum so I wonder if it gets switched around? I noticed the numbers next to things, did it say who loaned or donated? Major shame about Bowie, geez he influenced so many. Maybe due to his estate & the massive exhibit? The CBGB awning was the last one, but why did they paint the facade red? It was *always* white! Debbie Harry mentioned 2 very dear, close friends in her acceptance speech that sang w/ her early on (still singing😊) which was very kind! I don’t mind all the different genres mixed in, but credit where due PLEASE! However was very happy about the MC5 *finally* getting in, too bad it didn’t happen when they were all alive😢. Hubby & I always thought it was a scam & he used to watch the bands warmup when it was at the Waldorf (so sad, another beautiful NY landmark gone) if he was in the area but still thought it was a joke- REM over so many others? I’m w/ you on Joy Division (soon I’ll tell my story😊)! Have a lovely week! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🤘🦋🏍
Hi Jet, Thanks so much for watching and for your insightful comments! I think they might change the exhibits because if a lot of items are on loan from collectors etc they probably want it back at some point. I'm guessing that no Bowie is because his estate doesn't want anything loaned to the museum, but I would also think that there are collectors out there with interesting items too. So who knows? I think the powers that run the place have great respect for rocknroll in the 50's and 60's, but not much respect for the different scenes in the 70's (punk, glam and metal). That's why they kind of squished it all together in a tight spot. I remember when Debbie mentioned the two women! I think one was named Tish? Thanks again for tuning in! Maggie
@@WhyNotGoPlaces - That’s what I thought about the loaned stuff. Imo many fans won’t part w/ their precious memorabilia such as myself😬! Yep, I don’t think they’re spreading their reach as much as they should to include 70s-90s glam, punk, goth, metal music which I find odd w/ people like Dolly (do love her tho!) & all the newer genres they include. Yep it’s Tish & Snooky who own Manic Panic. They originally sang w/ Debbie when they were called Blondie & the Bonzai Babies, oh what fun days! 😘🧡
I'm watching from Vancouver Canada. Anyway you should do a video about your personal list of Top 10 favorite bands/solo artists of all time or Top 10 favorite albums or Top 10 concerts. We nosy subscribers want to know. 😊
Hi Vancouver! I love your city. Thanks for the suggestion. I would have never thought of it. Maybe I'll do top 10 concerts. Thanks for watching another video!
Thank you Maggie, great video, kind of ironic Devo not being in there as they come from Ohio, John Lydon was right to not go. My Ramones collection seems as good as theirs, I have a Dee Dee bass pick from 1980, plus their albums, and a promo single for "Road to Ruin".
Thanks for watching another video. Their punk exhibit was sparse to say the least. And why the Ronnie Biggs single? So weird. Sounds like you have some great stuff!
Thanks for the video. What a strange outlook they have. Certain genres I have no interest in,but it’s all as important as each other, but hardly having anything on punk,Bowie etc is ridiculous. They don’t have to love it,but to ignore it makes no sense,it’s music history whether you like it or not. Struggle to understand how the smiths or joy division isn’t already in there. Cheers Stuart
Hi Stuart, yes it's so arbitrary how they pick the artists for the awards each year. This year they included Dave Mathers Band and Dionne Warwick? I think the museum is run by people who loved the 50's and 60's, but didn't really like the scenes that happened in the 70's - like punk, metal and glam. That's why they kind of squished it all in a tight spot. The Bowie exclusion is really weird. Maybe his estate has all the valuable items and they don't want them loaned out. Still they could have had something. Thanks for watching again!
Hello Maggie, that Rolling Stone journalist has been proven wrong! Punk music will survive forever! Indeed much disrespectful: all these great punk and hardrock bands all mixed together in a limited little zone. Really shameful! Punk and Hardrock influenced more people to be alternative, be yourself than Pop influenced people. We may and must be proud for not being mainstream! I give you a big hug! It's all a question of money. Artists who give a lot of money to that musuem get a bigger space I guess. Take care, if I would become boss of that museum I would make 3 big new rooms: 1 for Punk, 1 for Hardrock and 1 for New Wave. God bless You .Jason
Hi Jason, That's a great idea! One room for each, instead of all squished in a tight spot. They had a huge space each for 60's folk, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles - all deserving of course, but when it came to the 70's they didn't have much. I think Nine Inch Nails had a whole floor because they were inducted in 2020, and like you said, they probably gave money to the museum. It's all so arbitrary. Thanks for watching!
They sure did. Sorry I didn't mean to say they didn't. I probably didn't word that well. What I meant was, that other bands from that time period should have also been included along with The Go-Go's. Thanks for watching.
Hi Maggie, it occurred to me while watching this that you probably have more punk memorabilia than what was displayed in this Hall of Fame. Truly pitiful! I understand why you get emotional talking about those times, because I do too. Living in Australia I completely missed out on London, late 70's - 80's, but I'd do anything to be able to go back in time and be there for the birth of punk. But you were there!! So lucky to have experienced it. As much as I love the music, sometimes I get a bit sad listening to it. I think it's a sense of lost youth and that it was such a special time.
Thanks for watching this one! I know what you mean about getting sad listening to the music. When the Pistols broke up in 1978, I couldn't listen to their music for years. It was too painful. I'm ok now though and play their music every week. It was a special time. When rock was dangerous and punk was hated by parents and the music industry. Thanks again!
Just uploaded a video of some footage outside The Kentish Town Sex Pistols gig a month ago . My footage didn't really work out but captured a bit of a rainy night in London. I used my Cover of Who Are You which features Keith Moons actual drum track which i found on here UA-cam so i over dubed on top with a cheap guitar i got in cash converters
@@WhyNotGoPlaces Great I'm looking forward to the interview asap. Was thinking I could have done it but I really wanted you to do the interview with Jon Ellis . Next we track down the guy from Alien Sex Fiend

Then I thought of you and Joe and my mate in Deerfield Beach. Glad you are all ok . Sorry I didn't message you and ask
No worries, Mike! I don't mention living in Florida much. We were fine, but it was a scary experience. We didn't sleep all night and neither did our cat Otis. We slept in the middle of the house, away from windows in case they shattered. Hurricanes are very loud. It sounded like a train running through the house. Thanks for asking!
This year it's in Cleveland, at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. In 2021 it was also in Cleveland. But you're right, I think it's often in NYC. Thanks for watching!
I think Lydon didn't want anything to do with it. But the other 3 would have gone there for the ceremony. That seems to be what Glen said. He said he and Steve were up for it. I love Lydon's letter. So angry! Thanks for watching.
@WhyNotGoPlaces Steve said on his radio show that John made the right decision for the band and not going. Steve pointed out that his award is still at the RnR Hall of Fame and said I should go pick it up and sell it on Ebay.
The Rock and Roll HOF is a complete JOKE. I mean CHER and MADONNA? Are you freeeekin kidding me? Check out Steve Miller blasting the hall for charging family members to attend. It’s on UA-cam and it’s EPIC!!!!!!! And Btw. There’s a GREAT Punk museum in Vegas!!
One day I'll make it to the one in Las Vegas. That was such a great idea. I think Dolly Parton is also in the Rock Hall of Fame. It is a joke! Thanks for watching.
They deserve to be in there. I think they like to vote for artists that sold a lot of records, and talent comes second. That was my impression. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. Thought you might like to know that Alan Freed is immortalised in Marc Bolan's, T-Rex song "Ballrooms of Mars" xxx "You talk about day I'm talking 'bout night time When the monsters call out The names of men Bob Dylan knows And I bet Alan Freed did There are things in night That are better not to behold"
Real punk rock, you can't compare the likes of green day as punk, it's a 1975 to 1978 type thing, n the only real band to be represented is the pistols, certainly not the clash 😮👍✌️🧡😎
I agree, the Pistols are in their own class. That's why I got so upset at the museum. They lumped the Pistols in with other bands in the 70's. Thanks for watching!
the hall is a piss stain...just as john told them in declining their acceptance... more should do the same... i went to visit it years ago...overpriced and boring
Sex pistols are not the tops in punk....BELIEVE THAT. DEE DEE RAMONE&THE RAMONES?& go CITY BY CITY ! Cleveland, Detroit, SF, NY, L.A. Salt lake, the so., no., east, west u.s. !!! , & All over the WORLD ! THINK INTERNATIONAL PUNK,( Asia was insane !! ) PLEASE!!!!!! But being U.S. , I want credit given to a lot of north & south American punk bands, & then search the treads of earth ( Pussy Riot!), & the heights , all the one-song or one-tape wonders as well,of punk the world over ! & the spin off punk ? Residents, oingo boingo, break punk down if you have no life like that anthropology dude , sentence-diagraming heavy metal !!! Go for it... just include them all- Devo, Talking Heads, into rap-punk- the list goes on & on. Punk is not so straight forward as R&R history... let's not forget Roxy,Bowie,& the smattering of Glam rock that punx loved. & the synth-inspired !!! Some lost in the wheel-wells !! We have the LV punk rock museum, so where is Germany's, & England's ( include the beginnings, even pre-Who+Kinks+Velvet Underground ! ) , + all the great punk-docs made & the BOOKS , death-rock, & today's garage or abandoned house punx in Sydney, Oz & again, don't forget the Man in Black's & Reggae's part of it ! Get busy, old music history punx-- Motorhead , Madness , & Pere Ubu shared the stage of the Young Ones more than once ( by shared, i mean, they were there, not just in Rik the prick's comic book dreams!!) . Punk influenced all, just as it was influenced by all ( Joy Division singing Louie Louie & the Fall involved in ballet !!) Remember all of Blank generation & NYDolls, so much...we would need a university to describe, include,& teach about punk . But remember through it all, everyone was about changing themselves, turning the old ways inside out, destroyed, rebuild-destroy( like j.g.ballard) , & heart. Everyone had their hearts in it . From all punks, male female & other , dogs& gg's , stray cats & hair-dye , wearing what you find on park benches to that nice sweater gran gave you that you ripped to shreds, & shaving each other's heads with hate written on your jacket while you adopted the litter of kittens- punk had meaning, so much wisdom- fun, & heart. - bb+B 💙🎶💙⚘️🇦🇹⚘️❄️🖤🤍🖤🎼

You should check out the Punk Rock Museum if you're ever in Las Vegas.
I will! I think I will love it.
I know steve said after thinking about it..they were right not to do to the awards 👌
I didn't know that. Interesting. I guess they were in to doing it at the time. I'm glad they didn't show up. Thanks again for watching.
Go-Go's earned the right. Wrote and played their own songs. First all girl band to hit the number one spot. Quite a feat in a brutal industry.
I love your channel and your so cute btw❤ hi from Quebec Montreal Canada 🇨🇦 I’m 💋french
Thanks for watching!
I'll take a look! And Who Are You is about the Sex Pistols. Looking forward to it! I connected with John Ellis on Facebook btw.
@@WhyNotGoPlaces Great I'm looking forward to the interview asap. Was thinking I could have done it but I really wanted you to do the interview with Jon Ellis . Next we track down the guy from Alien Sex Fiend
Those old punk badges are worth a bit of money these days!
Probably! I went to a museum in Orlando recently that had a punk exhibit with lots of badges. Thanks for watching.
🤘🏻
Was wondering about why you hadn't been online here . What an idiot I am , then was talking to my mate and his dad who lives near Orlando and then we talked about The Hurricane ect .
Sure but all the induction ceremonies are in New York.
This year it's in Cleveland, at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. In 2021 it was also in Cleveland. But you're right, I think it's often in NYC. Thanks for watching!
Pretty lame exhibit, No One is Innocent 7” . What on earth is that doing in there? Thanks for the video!
That's what I thought too! Of all the records to put in there....those people are clueless.
The Sex Pistols want nothing to do with the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
True, they really didn't care.
That's another proof that without Johnny the pistols would be just another nice and polite rock band.@WhyNotGoPlaces
Thanks for watching.
the SeX PisTOLs are not in the Rock'N'Roll Hall of Fame, as they turned it down when they was told they would have to pay to be in it.
@jeanlongsden1696 They are in, and they decided not to go
Motorhead for hall of fame .
They deserve to be in there. I think they like to vote for artists that sold a lot of records, and talent comes second. That was my impression. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. Thought you might like to know that Alan Freed is immortalised in Marc Bolan's, T-Rex song "Ballrooms of Mars" xxx
"You talk about day
I'm talking 'bout night time
When the monsters call out
The names of men
Bob Dylan knows
And I bet Alan Freed did
There are things in night
That are better not to behold"
I didn't know that! I'm going to play that song. Alan Freed is so interesting. What a legend. Thanks for that info!
The Shitstem = The System!!
Oh, that makes sense! Jann Werner got it wrong when he said " shit storm" when the letter says "shit stem." Thanks for the info!
Dave Matthews band .why ?
That was my thought too!
the hall is a piss stain...just as john told them in declining their acceptance... more should do the same... i went to visit it years ago...overpriced and boring
It was expensive. I don't remember the price but I remember it was a lot. I agree. More artists should not show up. Thanks for watching.
Ha, they NEVER had any credibility...
Bollocks.
Thanks for your comments. Yes, punk was international. One day I'll make it to the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas. Hopefully they cover bands from all over. Thanks again!
