Poor yoki, in the original FMA he got a whole two parter dedicated to his backstory, here they were like "Ah just give him like a 5 minute black and white silent movie nobody really cares" and they were right
I find the flashback to be so hilariously executed, even prefer it to the original manga chapter/FMA episode.
Hey, at least he gets promoted to supporting cast here! It's been a looong time since I watched the first FMA, but if I remember correctly, things don't end well for him there.
Greed's crew could transform too, the cow dude that fought Armstrong did beef up (pun intended)

One thing I love about this episode is how the show reminds us yet again that Ed and Al are STILL KIDS and can get away with acting silly against the chimeras. We keep forgetting they are 14-15, so moments like these don't feel entirely out of place for me.

To answer your question about Greed’s Squad, they likely could but they didn’t last long enough for us to find out. Only one of them did a semi transformation (the Cow Guy).
It's also possible the military did improve on their formula - Greed squad would essentially be the beta version, with Kimblee's goons being the final product.

The family Yoki tried to ro- I mean, sollicited a loan from was indeed the Armstrong family. We get to see his three other sisters in a bonus chapter (who was adapted in the 2003 anime). The youngest one (the one who absolutely don't look like Alex, but can still effortlessly throw a piano at someone) almost dated Jean Havoc - but ended up rejecting him for not being jacked enough.
I love love love Colonel Mustang and Hawkeye telepathic like connection. Mustang instantly knew something was wrong. I hope he follows his Intuition.
Sometimes I view Mei's crush on Al as a child liking someone older than them who they have no actual change with. Then I remember they're actually very close in age. Lol
Thanks for another great video! I love the blue sky moment with Olivier and Buccaneer. She can be a rough, take no shit, character but the clock scene shows us why her men are so loyal to her, she is a true leader. She doesn’t send her men to battles she wouldn’t fight herself (like the sloth attack) and she doesn’t leave her men behind, so they trust her and would follow her to death.
About the chimeras, I always thought they kinda depended on the skills of the alchemist and would be practically impossible without a philosopher stone. Nina and her mother would be the tragic, but best result of this transformation without the stone, the Father Cornello chimeras were animals with distinct body parts because he had the stone but not much knowledge of alchemy. The Greed chimeras and the Kimblee chimeras maybe were "batches" of military experiments with varying degrees of success, so ones can transform at will and others only have special powers.
Don’t know if any of this is correct or confirmed, though. Just how I see it :)
I get that they may feel like monsters, but if I could freely shift between normal and chimera I don’t think it would be so bad 😂

It’s been such an enjoyable experience watching this with you and seeing you figure out this fantastic story (with amazing characters) little by little. To answer the shapeshifting of the chimera's, Roa the Cow in Greeds crew grew horns when he was fighting armstrong, not as a deliberate transformation as this one but it could be considered as a transformation

If your still wondering about Jerso's chimera transformation (knowing you're like ~10 ahead), he is part frog. The only frog in real like I know is all yellow like him is the Golden Poison Frog native to Columbia. An endangered species the size of a paper clip, and yet one of the most poisonous animals on the planet.
Greed's chimeras were a bit of a mix, I think. Because the cow guy could transform, but the lizard guy constantly had a tail. And then you had the dog guy and the snake girl, who just had some characteristics of their animal like loyalty and agility.
The thing about the dub is that it’s closer to the author’s vision of how the story should go than the sub is. FMAB is one of the few anime that is always better in Dub than Sub
Yoki's backstory is a while 03 callback and I love it, with the mine storyline, the gambling, Katherine Armstrong omg.
Also fun fact: Not a lot of people noticed but in Ep 13 of Brotherhood, when the boys are with Izumi she mentions how she has an "associate" that might help recover Als memories, shortly before Al is led away by Greeds people. This is a reference to the 03 plot in which Izumi introduces them to Dante. Where the boys do not meet Greed until much later in the 03 series. Ep 13 is where Brotherhood branches off from 03.

I'm veering into headcanon territory, but I lowkey think Olivier and Buccaneer have a little tiny itsy bitsy mutual crush on each other (that they would never actually act on). There's a couple of things that hint at this throughout the show, but idk. Am I really that off base?
