Rebels takes place around 15 years after Revenge of the Sith... Therefore it takes place 10 years after Jedi Fallen Order, 7 years after SOLO, 5 years after Obi-Wan and around 1 year after Andor.
And by extension... It takes place around 4 years before Rogue One and A New Hope.
Andor takes place 5bby so the same time as Rebels first episode.

There are theories as to why the inquisitor deflated after he died. The one I find most likely is that he was Skakoan, or another species that has to live in pressure suits to survive.
Yeah but you don’t just disappear out of thin air when you die, his entire body dissipated. And Skakoans are primitive, isolated from the galaxy and can’t speak english/basic.

Before you start rebels, there are 4 very short cinematics introducing its main characters that you could watch shortly before officially starting the show.

That Inquisitor is "The Sixth Brother". He's an Inquisitor from the comics that hunts down Ahsoka in the Ahsoka novel and ends up becoming the source of her new lightsabers.
Bad Batch starts directly after Revenge of the Sith. Rebels takes place a few years before A New Hope. On a side note, Bad Batch explores the legacy of the Separatist Alliance so if you want more insight into them watch the show.
Yes and no for the whole Bad Batch starting directly after Revenge of the Sith. The main events of the show do take place after Revenge of the Sith but that first episode starts about midway through Revenge of the Sith so I'd say and, spoilers if the Normies stumble upon this comment the combat test probably took place around the same time as when Anakin was being rebuilt.
Anakin and Ahsoka's sibling bond will always make me sad! Ahsoka is one of the few jedis that survived the purge ironically because of Anakin's training! The other jedi were too arrogant with their old ways of training and now you see why Ahsoka respects Anakin a lot more throughout clone wars.

Her taking the name Asla is in reference to the original Jedi - Ashla was used by the first formal tribe of Jedi as a place for memes to hone their connection to the light side. -so she still holds close to the Jedi. ;)

21:33 I think that is the 6th brother and he is also in some star wars comics, with quite a different design. His and Ahsoka's fight were also part of the Ahsoka novel where we get to learn that Ahsoka uses his red lightsaber crystal from the lightsaber she killed him with (19:20), turned them white by purifying them and built her own new 2 white lightsbers with them.

One thing i always remember when Ashoka destroyed that Inquisitor, is that she went toe-to-toe with a true Warrior of a double-bladed saber. And she beat him. None of the Inquisitors are up to Mauls crazy skill and fierceness with those type of sabers and she beat him. Her ability to just flow in between them is fantastic.
Ahsoka: I'll tell you what, if I need a lightsaber, I'll use yours.
Inquisitor: Really, my lightsaber? How do you picture that happening exactly?
Ahsoka: Well, guess I'm gonna take it from you.

Ashla (or however you spell it) is the old old old name for the light side. It’s a reference for her being brought back to life by the Sister. Just like how whoever she appears, they’ll often show that little owl which was the Sister’s symbol

Bad batch takes place right after clone wars, while rebels is a time skip closer to episode 4. I’d recommend watching both at the same time. No spoilers really to rebels from bad batch. Just fills in the timeline.

Its actually really cool when you think about how Anakin trained Ahsoka in such an extreme way to make sure she was prepared for anytbing compared to how he trains the Inquisitors because he intentionally gives them lackluster training so that they will remain reliant on the Empire and their handicaps (like all the gadgets and tech they use) and so that they will remain afraid of him and each other. Like, bro didnt understand the assignment, he was literally fighting Vader's true apprentice with that discount training and thought he stood a chance

Padme died of takotsubo cardiomyopathy, broken heart syndrome is an actual thing. It's when you become so stressed your heart begins to stop functioning properly and leads to failure. I'd say Anakin becoming Vader and choking her to death mixed with child birth on top of that, the Republic becoming an Empire, and the Purge of the Jedi is enough to warrant enough stress for her.

I love how that ultra cool looking inquisitor was immediately taken out like a bush league bitch by Ahsoka. A lot of inquisitors are half-trained fallen jedi who are good at hunting padawan survivors but when they come up against true masters like Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, or Maul, they usually fold very quickly.

Hi! Inquisitors are equivalent to that of a Padawan. They hunt for what’s left of the Jedi & didn’t fight them in the any war. The Inquisitors were established after the Empire was formed not during the Clone Wars. Furthermore, it’s years of experience for Ahsoka which is how that Inquisitor died easily. Therefore, Ahsoka is a war veteran who had fought probably a +100 battles on different planets vs somebody who hasn’t fought an actual Jedi & has less experience in dealing with them.
She had fought tough villains such as Ventress, Grevious, Maul, etc. Not to mention, saved many younglings if you recall those episodes mostly by her own.
She learned from Rex if you guys recall that too. “In my book, experience outranks everything.” - Cpt. Rex

Lastly, how he knew her name is because they studied the Jedi by going through the archives that the Empire still retains. Essentially, data records, journals, etc.
SPOILER WARNING:
The last episode of the Clone Wars in the Season finale where she dropped her lightsaber was to make sure that everyone will think that she had died in the crash of the ship. Her saber is just for proof to convince anyone on her trail that she had died.
Yeah when people balk at the number of episodes of Clone Wars, then just get them a list of the top 10 Clone Wars arcs and recommend those. Every one I've tried this with has got 1 or 2 arcs into the list before going back to start watching the entire series.

The kid you guys thought might be Cal Kestis is actually Kanan Jarrus from the show Rebels as a kid. The Jedi with him is Depa Billaba who is his master. She was originally trained by Master Windu.
That kid was Kanan Jarris from Rebels. And his master Depa was trained by Mace Windu

I believe that inquisitor did serve his purpose, because... well, I don't want to spoil something if you're thinking about reading the Ahsoka novel. So... because of something that happens in the novel with this inquisitor, I feel he served his purpose and that's why he became one with the Force.

The young boy is Caleb Dume aka Kanan Jarrus. His Master is Depa Billaba. Rebels takes place about 5 years before the Destruction of the First Death Star.
I've seen a lot of people comment on how it's stupid that Ahsoka did that so easily, but it really isn't. Most of the inquisitors are basically just hunting dogs. They don't get a lot of training and are just sent out after force users that by and large have even LESS training. As a result, they all think they're hot shit. Meanwhile, you've got Ahsoka over here, a literal child soldier who was trained for war by one of the most powerful jedi knights in history. Ahsoka's martial ability as a force user is CONSIDERABLY higher than average.
Well the reason why the inquisitor set fire to the village was simple. He couldn’t find the Jedi the easy way, so he had to flush them out. And as both Maul and the Grand Inquisitor showed, the best way to lure out a Jedi, target the innocent.
They for real made one of the most badass-looking questions, just for Ashoka to flex 1% of her power to kill him. I ain't complaining lol because it makes sense! God, I love Star Wars!

What’s interesting is Anakin is not only training Ahsoka how to survive order 66 he is training the 501st. How to shoot Jedi for order 66.
The only thing I was missing from episode 5 was Ahsoka saying “I’d like to see you do it” and then Anakin absolutely crushing it. Just to show her what’s possible. But this was such a great explanation for how well Anakin prepared Ahsoka for all of her worst scenarios
You guys need to watch Star Wars: Rebels in prep for the Ahsoka show. It takes place 15 years into the empires rule (4 years away from Episode 4: A New Hope). Ahsoka's story continues there in the lead up to the original trilogy, the Mandalorian, and book of Boba Fett.
Edit: episode six is only a few years into the rule of the Empire, it will be 16 years later when Alderaan is destroyed.

A fan theory ive seen around that I personally enjoy for padmes death is that palpatine was siphoning her lifeforce to sustain Anakin during the operation, it allowed him to keep his apprentice and destroy any other attachments that might lead to him being betrayed in one move.

Technically there is such a thing as a 'safety saber'. All lightsabers have controls on them so you can control how long the lightsaber is (a padawan will get taller as they age, after all, so they don't need to rebuild their lightsaber, they just need to adjust the length), and you can also control the intensity of the emitter field. Essentially, at the right settings, a lightsaber will only give you a mild burn instead of taking your arm off.
Ahsoka obliterating that inquisitor will never get old.
You guys have to read Ahsoka novel or you can listen to its Audiobook. It's sooooo f***in good. Actually the the episode 6 of this show is based on that novel. The audiobook is actually voiced by Ashley Eckstein, Ahsoka voice actor from clone wars and rebels.
The story of Star Wars Rebels begins about 5 years before the Battle of Yavin shown in Episode 4 movie, which is in Star Wars term "5 BBY", which is also around the time the story of Andor started.
