Thanks for watch as always!
A little fun little detail.
In episode 2, Fern talks about Frieren getting random spells and one of those spells turns grapes sour.
In episode 3, while they are celebrating Fern's birthday, Frieren has a flashback to Himmel's party and them talking about their favorite foods. Eisen's is sour grapes, the more sour the better.
In this episode, we see Eisen eating those grapes that Frieren casted the sour grape spell on in the montage.
I just love this small detail, it really shows that the story is all about the small things and to learn about your friends.
I mentioned this repeatedly in the episode
From Ep #1 Frieren visit to retired Heiter, first table scene, Fern is an orphan of a war in the Southern lands, not Central lands.
What are the Central Lands but the southern lands of the North?
I love this series so much! Seeing Frieren begin to live in the present throughout the series is so wholesome.
The beach cleanup takes that long because, as you said, there's something like a capacity to levitation spell, although this won't be made clear until around 10 more episodes in. But as rb8599 said, (almost) everything is connected in Frieren; its storytelling and world-building is just that good.
You are right with how Himmel changed Frieren so much because she didn’t pay attention to “their” relationship. But we really never know what change would come when they meet again as a living elf and a human soul. Because there’s a lot more to learn about them during that 10 year adventure. It’s quite frustrating that Frieren anime is slowburn but that’s what makes it beautiful and heartwarming and exciting. I hope they could release season 2 soon.
I 100% vibe with where you're coming from about what you said of the fear of nothingness after we die. Like, there's nothing to fear when you don't exist anymore.
But it seems to be that it's more about the in the moment and leading up to it. Living a good, kind life for nothing to come after or to show for it, is a very scary thought.
That's part of the reason Heiter was afraid of dying back in episode 2. Not purely for selfish reasons, but because everything that he once was and had learned and experienced would be gone in the blink of an eye.
Really, that's all that should be scary about death. It will come for us all no matter what. But us being human just makes us constantly wonder what comes next for us.
Personally I'm not too worried. Like I said, I'm with you. Whatever happens, will happen. I just hope eternal damnation isn't a thing because I'd probably be subject to it. 😂
I'm glad I found your reaction. I watched Frieren 3 times alone, and with 11 reactors. And I wanna more. :D
Great job. I hope you will enjoy series till the end.
Multiple, parallel magic systems each with limitations and non-overlapping elements. Ep #1 introduced Frieren as a collector of DIY folk magic. Demon-kind magic and the more formalized, theory-backed mage magic was introduced in the Ep #3 battle with Qual. More to come.
Damn, I never knew about the names and their meanings. Flamme and Frieren being fire and ice does not seem like a coinsidence... nice catch
Everything is connected, there are no coincidences. That is how tightly the source material is written. Note all the call-backs even by Ep #4.
