      All these questions have been answered thousands of times. The short answer is that the extra energy it takes to build an EV is recouped anywhere from 1 to 5 years depending on how big the EV is and how the power it uses is made. The batteries can be recycled. First, they can be used in energy storage systems, then recycled. Electric motors are 4 to 5 times more efficient than gas engines at turning energy into power.

      @@21jimmyo but batteries are not efficient. They still lose some times up to 40% of power on changing. It gets turned right in to heat. They can lose the same on discharge as well depending on draw demands. Electric motors yes are more efficient but that gose away with how fast you spin them, load extra. I like electric don't get me wrong there are some really good advantages. But they are still not there when compared to a international combustionvehicle in the same class. Evs do pollute heavily but it is indirect. Same with wind and solar panels. It takes a lot of diesel to build a wind turbine. Also they wind farms are backed up by either a quick start diesel or natural gas turbine generator plant for peek demands.

    • @SuzukiKid400
      @SuzukiKid400 2 роки тому +10

      crab walking is actually remarkably stable for high speed lane changes. You literally have no body lean and the vehicle just glides to the side. Also works great for parallel parking. Offroad, it works where it helps you to position the rear end more deliberately where using opposing 4 wheel steering causes your vehicle to rotate more than without it. It all depends on the situation. For example, say you're climbing a steep rock grade in Moab and want to avoid an obstacle, but you're worried that if you get the vehicle sideways, that it will start sliding sideways and become unstable. Crab walking would keep the vehicle pointed straight up the hill but allow you to go around the obstacle.

    • @pivkaaa
      @pivkaaa 2 роки тому +2

      @@pivkaaa You would not use opposing steering and crab walking in the same situation. Having said that, whether you are steering with the front wheels or opposite to them, the mechanics remain the same, and it just comes down to software. You as a driver could choose when you would or wouldn't use the feature. If nothing else, it's a cool feature you could brag about on your new Hummer EV Supertruck.

    • @kevinfleming9919
      @kevinfleming9919 2 роки тому +1

      @@pivkaaa If you're driving a trail and come up on an obstacle that your undercarriage or body panels can't clear and need to move to one side a foot or two and only have three feet before you would hit a rock wall, trees, or go off a cliff face then you wouldn't have room to swing the front of your vehicle to the side and pull forward enough to get the rear end to clear the obstacle. With crab walking you can sidestep the truck and move the entire vehicle all at one once just enough to clear whatever you're needing to avoid and not risk rolling off a hill or creasing the side of the truck against something. You could also change your line of attack going up or down a trail to stay out of washouts or get your tires to line up with a rock to drive on it instead of risking it hitting the oil or transmission pan or catching the suspension.

      The premise was, that someone could completely rebuild an old car about 5 times over and still not use up as much energy and other resources as it takes to build ONE new car on a modern day assembly line.
      I'd be inclined to agree, because Mom n Dad were in the restoration business back in the 80s through the early 2000s... And we'd sometimes rebuild or restyle customer's vehicles periodically.

      You can get modular 'jerry cans of electricity' and place them in the trunk or truck bed if you wish. My question is do gas/diesel offroaders trailer a tank of extra fuel with them on these trips? The EV Hummer will simply charge at Electrify America or whatever along the way and on the last charge, put as much in as possible. Charging infrastructure will get better and keep in mind, when you are offroading, you are going slowly, so you don't use much 'fuel' in the EV anyhow for that situation.

      To answer you objectively. The sustainability of an electric car compared to a comparable combustion engine is already payable by 25,000-85,000 kilometres with our current electricity mix. The batteries hold an average of 600-700,000 km. Even after these kilometres, you do not replace the whole battery but individual modules, then you use the batteries as stationary storage and then the batteries are recycled VW and Redwood Materials recycle the batteries to 92%. Due to the progress in battery research and development, the batteries are becoming cheaper and better. Tesla no longer uses cobalt in its batteries due to a new cell chemistry. Tesla and Mercedes give their batteries an 8-year warranty or 250,000 kilometres. On the subject of the environmental friendliness of battery production, battery production requires less water than 1 kilogram of beef and emits less CO2 than the refining and extraction of petroleum for the combustion engine. To hydrogen. Hydrogen is very energy intensive, means you have to invest around 50 kWh of electricity (electrolysis, bring to the pressure of 700 bar) to get 1 kg of hydrogen. Alternative fuels need around 114 kWh of electricity for 100 kilometres. So the efficiency is bad. That's why electromobility is used. Because we need renewable electricity and hydrogen for energy-intensive industries. The advantage of hydrogen lies only in the energy density, but the battery is also increasingly researching and developing in this area. I hope I was able to enlighten you objectively. Have a pleasant day.😀
