    • @e36fanatics

      theres a good reason why its riveted... this type of molding will never hold good for more than half year and in the end it will crack the paint so youve now wasted money on painting the car and molding the kit for nothing

    Jsut trying to give some advice for other people that are trying to do this at home or even for you the next time you are doing this. You did a great job at getting all of the right materials and everything just next I would suggest not wiping down your fiberglass fenders with a solvent or cleaning product. They can end up getting trapped in the fiberglass and causing problems later. Tip number 2 fiberglass fillers main propose if to prevent water from getting in behind your panels where you sand down to bare metal and causing rust, as well as adding slight strength for your body filler, you should not have to put 3 coats of fiberglass material on. Tip number 3 remove more of the paint where your working any body filler if not desided (except for polyerster filler, that can get applied over primer) to be applied over any paint. Tip number 4 the idea ratio for harder is 2% of what ever amount of body filler your using Just wanted to give some helpful information. Looks great!

      I appreciate it bro! This was my first time doing bodywork so im not sure how strong these methods are but I did make sure I dont rub on my fenders with my stance to possibly break the mold haha. Over the past months till present day I've ran different wheel setups and so far the only part that has cracked was the front bumper pieces that mold onto the plastic bumper and the front fender mold but that was because I hit a HUGE dip and pushed my bumper up. But as for the rears after rubbing alot I have had not breaking of the mold.

When you drill all those holes, are you not concerned they will rust over time? I'm in canada, so I would be pretty worried about that. • @chris_borges
      @chris_borges  6 років тому +3

      FirstName LastName Great question. I’ve seen it done before but i think you will have to use more bondo to cover everything up and you also won’t be able to sand down the kit flush because there will be a rivet there. If you want to keep rivets on, i suggest not sanding down the kit as much as i did in the video and just throw bondo on top of it.

    This looks very easy but I'm sure a lot has gone into this. How hard is this for someone with no body experience? How long did the process take? Also I dont mind the look of the screws in a kit so would you say the amount of work is worth then end result if the body kit already looks good on its own

    the bumper gaps. where those already in the kit or did you have to make them. If the lather what method did you use

    How long did it last? I have heard of molding a kit to a car it cracks at the seam overtime. I want to widebody my car and absolutely hate the rivet look.

    looks great, only concern I would have would be the exposed metal of the body underneath the kit that didn't get any paint etc. maybe you already addressed that in paint but if you didn't that could present a rust issue later down the line, maybe use like a rubber undercoating etc. inside the fender well to protect it ?

    I must say, I’m impressed. I glad to you a first timer use all good quality materials, besides the shitty primer (ha). Good job man. Next time you have to sand the original mounting holes. You really should bevel/feather them out. But you can just sand it enough so the bondo sticks. You don’t want any gloss areas. But other then that, 👍👍.

    How much would I realistically need of each filler for just the rear quarter panels? And also whats grits did you use? For filler? For getting down to bare metal? All 80?

    Hey do you think I'd use the same method when gluing a lip kit around my plastic OEM bumpers? I mean I'm going to do the wide body kit fiberglass pieces on the metal eclipse but on my Civic I need to glue the lip kit and mold it in around it. Any advice would be much appreciated thank you

    how long was this process for you, and on a 1-10 scale how difficult would you put this.i really like what you did with it and I really wanna do this to my frs. thanks for the video!

      Cooper Hulse the process took me around a week. i’d rate it at around a 4 difficulty. it wasn’t hard at all, you just need the proper tools and patience. the process is easy, it’s just a lot of repetition.
