I agree, Chiv is more polished, but in the end Mordhau keeps me around because of the immaculate vibes of it's customisation. We have Vikings and Landsknechts fighting side by side, tons of crazy weapons from across different eras, and there is definitely something here for all history fans.
I still remember watching "War of the Roses vs Chivalry" by John Bain/Cynnicalbrit.This video really reawakened some deep memories & I wasn't expecting that.
@@asphaltshingles8594 Some things have been named in the clip, but the main reason is really that Mordhau makes me laugh all the time. It is full of magic moments of that I can only find a very few in chiv. People in Mordhau value a good laugh over a k*ll. They will hit their own people if they see them attack a bard, who is playing the knight rider theme. All while an afro dwarf with a giant hammer is desperatley trying to hit a lev1 dude, who is actually a pro player with a new account and dodging every single attack and defeating 20 people in a row by throwing pans, pumpkinis and little stones at them.
I think that a lot of people confuse a skill floor with a skill ceiling. Morhau has a very high skill floor, but it remains to be seen how high the ceiling is in Chiv 2. Level 300-1000 players will win 95-100% of duels vs low level players in Chivalry.
that's true, but the difference, if you are low level with a spear on chiv 2, just following mates, you can rank amongst the greatest lol, for casual and beginners it's a lot more rewarding
mordhau definitely has a higher skill ceiling, especially before they started implementing changes to make it easier for casuals. Mordhau was built to be competitive, chivalry 2 was not.
lvl 200's in mordhau always do the weirdest shit to hit you like a triple-double-fakeout-morph until they catch you lacking and that's when they one shot you with a fucking maul while laughing maniacally, mordhau's combat is definitely more complex than chivalry, but the blocking in chiv 2 is actually much better than mordhaus
Why must you give me a dream that will never come to fruition 😭. It would be cool if damage done to each monument stays, so you can see how war torn certain areas are
@@TheTrueTato each time a province is taken monuments are torn down, leaving ruins with new monument built by the other team. All battles sites reset each season. PvPVP. Thats my dream
across both genres I have at least 1000 hours, and your verdict makes sense, Mordhau can be pretty toxic because of it's playerbase, but some servers are pretty alright and goofy. Chivalry is far easier to get into because the combat is less demanding and forgiving compared to the timed parry gameplay that mordhau has (which was taken from chivalry 1). chivalry 2 made the changes to represent it's focus. which was not to be a competitive rebound from chivalry 1, but a casual slasher with character and charm which is why people became interested in chivalry 1 until they got out of the beginner 1-10 level servers and got bombarded by chiv veteran players.
I at least stood a chance in Chiv 1. I got pretty decent in Chiv 1 and had a lot of fun even when I got out of the beginner servers. I can hardly touch so many higher level players in Mordhau. Almost every match I play, I am not just getting dominated by 1 or a few people. It's always like 10+ people that are doing these crazy swing manipulations and I can't even touch them without my head rolling on the floor. I am absolutely buying Chiv 2 because I can't take the sweaty play in Mordhau. I'm just looking to have a mostly casual good time instead of getting frustrated most nights I play Mordhau.
i played a lot of chiv 1 and a bit of chiv 2 but for me it's gotta be mordhau. It's just way smoother and less restrictive but I love the visual design for chiv 2
I’ve played both games, and for honor. I think mordhau’s base gameplay is a lot more like for honor when it comes down to the mindset. Barring for honor’s guard wheel, you kinda have to adopt a more for honor sense of playing with reads and usually aggressors being having the advantage. With Chiv you have a flow of combat where you move flows into the next more seamlessly into the next than in Mordhau. you kind of have to plan each move individually and think about it more. Chivalry tho is a lot more casual, and fun for me. I couldn’t choose tbh, it’s kind of an even split and I’d still play both games anyways. For honor tho is another beast entirely.
That explains why Mordhau is so much ass tbh For Honor was even asser, so how could a game with similar mindset be any different? I fucking hate that "Reading" mindset in games. I don't want to Read, I want to React. Fuck gambling. If I wanted to Read, I'd play a strategy game, not an *ACTION* game (just to be bashed and dodge attacked 6 times in a row)
i guess i just got used to most of the animations (150hours in) but I have no problem reacting to feints, my only problem is dodge attacks being spammed by everyone, its not hard to counter just annoying
I'm torn with this one, I personally feel like when it's not being abused that mordhau has a vastly better combat system however it seems the devs just never want to listen to player feedback and have made the game so unapproachable to new players
i started playing a week and half ago, and I see what you mean. The start was an absolute nightmare, but I stuck with it. The game has become much easier since then, but I can imagine a lot of new players would probably just give up with how hard it is. Also, I didn't even know Chivalry 2 was a game lol.
I am fairly decent chiv 2 player, can easily do top 10 players in a game. Would I struggle at mordhau? Or would it be a fairly easy transition after I learn controls
@@jjames093 Yeah you probably would struggle. I’m a good Chiv 1 player and I still greatly struggle in Mordhau. Yes I only have 15 hours, but the main problem is that most/all servers have many very high level players that abuse morphs so you can’t even tell what they are doing. Then you are suddenly dead on the ground not knowing how the heck they even hit you. I can very rarely block hits from those people because parrys are already harder than Chiv games. I used to be near top of the leaderboards in Chiv 1 almost every match but that’s definitely not the case in Mordhau. I’m lucky to get any positive K/D. I’m buying Chiv 2 soon because I’m at the point I’m getting more frustrated in Mordhau than having fun.
I played both and most stuff translates quite well (with both being based on Chiv 1). The inability to hold block and how hard counters (eg chambering) are will take a bit of time to get down though. @@jjames093
I've sunk a fair amount of hours into both games (albeit significantly more on Chiv2 vs Mordhau), and I definitely prefer Chiv2. Reason being is that I'm more of a variety gamer and typically don't play a single game for more than a few days at a time - and sometimes not even for a single day. With Chiv2's combat system being more casual-friendly, I feel it only takes me a round or two to get back into form and making some good plays. But with Mordhau, I would typically rage-quit after being wiped off the map by some sweat who's so skilled that I don't even have a chance to defend myself. Also, as a side note, Chiv2's maps feel so much more epic than Mordhau - kind of like you're a small part of a huge battle, what with all the environmental effects. This really scratches the fantasy itch which keeps me coming back.
NGL, Mordhau gives a more CSGO feel, while Chivalry 2 gives more of a battlefield feel. One is more about fluid movement and combat, the other is more about the overall experience and 'immersion'.
Not too sure about Mordhau having a better combat system, half the fighting there consists of becoming a box and trying to time a block correctly Chivalry actually implemented feints as a feature and not a glitch, so no spines being broken in half all the time
I love medieval settings, I've played a lot of RTS in the past to find these vibes and lately I've spent more than 800 hours on For Honor side knights. And chivalry 2 guys.. It gives me those medieval vibes like no other game I have played so far (30+ gamer). I love and appreciate the passion that modders give to certain games, but often the mods I look for in games are to make them more "medieval". So I think I found my natural habitat in Chivalry 2 for all these reasons. Also for me the pve/horde mode is not something that interests .. I'd rather play a story-driven game for a while and then go back to doing PvP battles. I envy Mordhau only for customization, but this would also take away a bit of immersion because with a total customization obviously people play a bit (and if possible it is also right that it is so!) I would do everything in order to match the setting but I understand that they would not all do so ruining the immersion for me ^^ I WANT THOSE GAME IN VR!
You really aren't missing out on the customization. I come from many hours and fun on Chivalry 1. I got decent at that game and had a lot of fun over the years. Because Chiv 1 has become quite dead, I bought Mordhau some months ago. I already can't do it anymore. I have given it many chances but I am about to buy Chiv 2. The amount of insane players doing all these crazy feinting into unblockable swing manipulations is... nearly all the time, every match, large scale objective battles, you name it. It's everywhere. Sure, I have some decent matches on Mordhau but I get frustrated way more often than truly having fun. I never got this feeling on Chiv 1. I would rather take a game that I have a chance of having fun and sacrifice some customizability. Chiv 2, here I come!
I really like chivalry 2’s counter system, but I gotta be honest, I think Mordhau is superior. Customization, horde mode, mod support, and in some ways, combat. High speed back and forth chambering/clashing is something I live for in Mordhau, but Chivalry’s counters seem sluggish by comparison. I kinda like the held block in chivalry as it’s a bit more forgiving for defensive players, but it also somewhat allows people to turtle, and that defensive playstyle can easily be turned back upon them by a player who kicks or is content to simply drain your stamina until you drop your weapon. With the Horde mode, and different pvp match types, like swordgame Mordhau feels less repetitive. And with the customization you can do for your character, class and weapons, it gives players something to come back and grind for, and funny enough, it doesn’t feel as grindy as chiv 2, and yet chiv 2 has far fewer items to grind for. Plus, I think the Mordhau community has a much better sense of humor and sportsmanship than Chiv. Sure, Chivalry has its goofy sides, and you can meet players who will commend you every time you beat them, and generally just want to have a good time and get better through more experience, but can you fight a sentient carrot, or fuckin Shrek in Chivalry? Can you find people in standalone servers who are there with the expressed purpose of coaching less experienced players?
@@Kidnamedchicanerygaming Lol but Mordhau's "accels" are not when you need to constantly move your view like you're drunk in order to speed up or delay every strike?
I got a few hundred hours in mordhau before switching to chivalry, and it's a choice I don't regret. Not only is mordhau's combat system leagues more exploitable and annoying, the playerbase is thinning and becoming more and more toxic over time.
This. I am also ditching Mordhau as we speak and I am going to buy Chiv 2. I had such a good time in Chiv 1 for years, but I am having a horrible time in Mordhau. Some of those high level players doing crazy swing manipulation morphs is just too much. Way too often as well in every server I play on. I just get frustrated more often than not. Doesn't even feel like a fun game at this point. Time for Chiv 2!

mordhau is just full of sweat lords that invested 3k hours in the game, not worth anyone's time imo, better to just play Chiv 2 not sweat and a lot more fun
i did play mordhau for 2000 hours and chiv 2 for 50 hours overall chiv 2 is a better and more friendly game, mordhau has bad moderations they ban you for silly reasons, and very toxic community
Yea I noticed that the mordhau community is tight nit so it’s kinda hard to assimilate. Chivalry 2 is a more pleasant experience when it comes to gaming
I think you’re spot on. I have way more hours in chivalry 2, it got me deeper into the genre (I played like 10 hours of chiv 1). Lately tho I’ve been getting into mordhau and have been having an absolute blast. I would recommend new players start with chiv 2 tho, it’s much much easier to learn and get into.
@@TheTrueTato it's alright. It's a good video and I think most people can predict mordhau being toxic since it's competitive. Still good to mention since the mordhau playerbase bully new players.
To be fair. I’d say that chivalry 2 cosmetic system functions the same as team fortress 2 cosmetics system since they use classes. The difference is that tf2 had been around for a 10+ years and have a larger array of cosmetics to choose from while chiv 2 had been out for less than a year. So over time I hope chiv gets more cosmetics over time if it does not dwindle prematurely. But that is my opinion and I would be interested of what other people have to say.
chiv 2's cosmetic system functions the same as chiv: medieval warfare, usually they add more overtime but chiv devs are less focused on cosmetics and more on maps and gamemodes
Mordhau was great at launch a few years ago. However, much like Chiv 1, it suffers from flawed game mechanics that veteran players have abused to the gills. Its made it such that new players did not stick around and its killed the game in the process. It doesnt help that Crush never addressed these issues and basically let the game die. It was fun while it lasted.
It definitely was fun in it's prime, that's when I played it most. Coming back to it was a total tonal shift, it felt like if you didn't know what mechanic to abuse you wouldn't win a 1v1. The skill ceiling was definitely raised since then.
what killed the game was the lack of initiative by the devs when mordhau had it's huge upswing around release, the sluggish support and the very few updates... the dev team also just barely managed to release everything announced to the early backers... so yeah entirely on them
Mordhau doesn't feel like a medieval battle at all. It's just a skirmish with people running randomly around the map. The animations are terrible and the combat felt clunky. Mordhau does have good customization(to the point of being overwhelming) but the lack of limits can spawn some ridiculous stuff.
Yea I love mordhau and what it tired to do but it’s definitely gone off the deep end with its community, it’s still something that can be enjoyed but only if you really try to enjoy it lol
If you want something closer in feeling and skill to a competitive fighting game you should get Mordhau (you will have to spend hours learning theory and practicing mechanics or suffer with being bad/mid) If this sounds daunting and you want guaranteed fun, get chiv 2.
Mordhau is so rewarding once you’ve put in hundreds of hours. The combat is deep and the skill ceiling is high. Totally agree it isn’t a game your average joe will commit enough time to really enjoy.
Chiv 2 gets plenty competetive in duel servers. You will still get absolutely trashed as a mid player. The difference is Mordhau has a pretty high skill floor and a severe lack of newer players. Chiv 2 is only more relaxed in TO because the there are so many newish players around. Mordhau used to be this way on release too.
Coming from someone who has played both and have more than 20 hours in both: Mordhau has a better/worse community, sometimes you end up in a server with 5 archers and in the next one you are in a server with 100 level 1000s , but then you end up in a server with people that are just as skilled as you, and a bard playing paint it black. But in chivalry the community is varied, some people hate new players, while others mass ffa. Personally i prefer chivalry.
Mordhau is the game that has a modded server that allows you to listen to meme music whilst beating someone to death with a carrot. If that's not casual, I don't know what is.
Honestly, I think I enjoy Mordhau's combat more? I'd have to play it again to really compare, but wide range of customization Mordhau has makes it feel somewhat better to me. @@actuallycolt9938
I like mordhau combat system enabling you to actually utilize your weapon to the situation need fit, for example you can change grip, change your weapon usage like a long sword. Instead of just cutting and swinging you can switch the grip and use your hand guards as a bashing for armored opponents. Chivalry 2 block mechanic is better and it’s stamina is more realistic. Mordhau has a better counter system where if you counterattack the same attack you can reflect an attack. Mordhau has perks while chivalry is more just standard and separated by class while Mordhau not as much. Mordhau has actual weight involved so if your a heavy knight your not gonna sprint the same speed as a archer. Bows, spears, and just in general throwing objects chivalry wins hands down it’s just better and you have better options. So who wins I say chivalry 2 is overall better and the reason why is it’s a already an experienced game since chivalry 1. They took what could have been better and well just did that.
I was about to correct you for the speed' differences bcs in Chiv2 the knights and archers have not the same speed but actually the differences are not that crazy.
all communities are toxic (because of humans). 5 minutes ago i danced on the barn roof with "Happy New Year" music and 12 peoples from both teams (sry bad english)
I have, around 1k in mordhau, I started my long journey of medieval slasher games with mordhau, stayed true to it, was a bit sceptical towards Chiv 2, eventually played Chiv 2, about 30 hours in, almost got no explanation to a lot of stuff, so I tried to use Mordhau logic and massive ammount of mechanical skill I had, all I learned about Chiv 2... Spam M2 hold, attack with M1, kick when they hold too much, being ganged up always gets you killed no matter how hard you try. Overall, I had MUCH more fun in Mordhau, and I personally think that Chiv 2 is just a sour tasting candy in a cool wrapping
@@bencegedei4291 under normal circumstances I'd be a little annoyed at someone plugging their yt in someone else's comments, but I might have to check this out 😂
I actually bought mordhau for $30 dollars and i regret not just buying chiv2. Taking a second look its wayyyy better. But its on sale rn for $15 so ill take it. Either way mordhau is fun anddd funny ill probably come back when i get better.. but i judt can't deal with it right now
@@TheTrueTato you should give it another shot it's been upgraded so dramaticly since launch. The A.i are good now too they actually mimick players so they can train you for pvp a lot better
Bro you captured a moment with a pillar of the mordhau community "Fake Underwear." I'm surprised he didn't vote kick you from the game for being a ytber.
I'd say chiv 2's combat is super competitive, high level duels are kinda crazy. Lack of support for ranked gamemodes from TB is kind of sad, so the community made their own mmr system and regularly host comp events. Its really fun to play competitively, never tried mordhau though so maybe my comment is completely off topic haha
Even though I made a video about it I still don’t know everything about Chivalry 2 so it’s cool to hear that chivalry has a good competitive scene. Although it is sad to hear TB isn’t supporting it. Mordhau was built to be competitive so you’ll find a good comp scene there too!
Chiv has eyecancer inducing animations, and plays really clunky. Does have the slightly better maps and the maps are more dynamic. Nobody cares about lore in these kinda games. Mordhau on the other hand has the way better combat (once you get the hang of it) and soley for that reason + the crazy meme potential its my absolute favourite of them both. I uninstalled chiv real quick after playing it for some hours and went back to Mordhau.
The only reason I don't play more mordhau over chiv is at the time I was playing, people were aiming their swings at basically incomprehensible angles and me being absolutely trash aside, it's not fun. Chiv 2 seemed to have a little less of it at a casual level so. I play that
Chiv 2 has less of it at every level. Chiv 2 high level duels actually look great which is a huge plus. All about footwork where that is much less relevant due to combo feint to parry in Mordhau.

I got Mordhau for free on Epic Games and I was like holy shit this is incredible. I haven't run into too much toxicity yet, I don't have an incredible amount of time and I still routinely get the shit kicked out of me but for the most part I've been playing with people that are pretty chill. There was even one players sort of shoutcasting in the chat who complimented me on my gameplay. It was only a matter of time before I bought chivalry 2 shortly after, currently waiting for it to download.
I tried to play both, I like chivalry 2 for the silliness, fighting wise, but I love Mordhaus technical fighting (not great at it) , and like in the name, you can perform Mordhau. Mordhau also has more customization, you can wear jester clothes, and more! Chivalry 2 may not have that, but they’re both great games if you want a good time, and make some friends.
I played both games, i am new to the genre so when i played mordhau I had a hard time killing a single person. In chivarly, I can kill three player in a 1v3. It was clear to me which hame is easier and harder.
I have never played Mordhau but definitely will. But Chivalry 2 is something else me. There are problems with the hit reg, but other than that, it's literally a perfect game imo. Haven't felt quite like this in a long time.
I played Mordhau cause it was on steam. Didn't realize Chivalry 2 was out but was an exclusive on Epic. Just recently got my hands on Chivalry 2 though. I really liked the first one.
i hope one day we can get a chiv 2/mordhau type of game combined with long persistent battles/maps , similar to a Realm vs Realm type mode you can see in planetside 2 or guild wars 2 World vs world, i can never play something like chiv2 for long periods, matchmaking and fairly short battles kinda feel empty after a while
i want to like chivalry more because thats where it all started, and i LOVED the deadliest warrior games, but the customization is so nice in Mordhau it feels so lacking in Chiv2
I never could get into Chiv. 1, idk why just never clicked with me, though I was younger. Mordhau I love for how fun and dumb it can be- and making my kick ass characters or meme/cosplay ones lmao- that and I tend to meet more chill/fun people in Mordhau opposed to toxic ones... mostly. Chiv. 2 I was a little into when was announced, and its more casual combat does seem more appealing to me as I am not into competitive games- though I skipped it when it was a EGS exclusive initially- and I already had Mordhau, so it was a no brainer for me. Ofc its on Steam now and usually is cheap from the sales, but idk Mordhau just has the right vibe and silly factor for me- and fun as when I DO kick ass, it is satisfying as hell. Great video!
I did play chiv two on PS4, it was quite a bad experience but when i got my good PC i went on Mordhau and in just a Year i have become really good at it, so i don't know if it's because of the platform i played on but Mordhau is really what i love
Yea that’s my biggest issue with it and I should’ve mentioned that in the video, I have to much footage of me just matchmaking trying to find a game in mordhau. Almost felt like tarkov 😂
Mordhau is too much of the sweatfest for me. With Chiv I can always jump into a game and have fun without being killed over and over again by some adderol infused master fencer. Bards are awesome though, would love to see something like that in Chiv.
Honestly been wanting a video like this from someone in a while, with great points and a reasonable verdict. The fact it came from a good homie makes it even better. Keep up the fantastic work!
tbh i was hearing sm negative things that it made chivalry 2 look like shit for me but now hearing this video and realizing how cool maps actually are i like chiv two a lot again
As a mardhau player and i tried chivarly2 but mardhau is more simple and fun and the fake hit is what make the gameplay more realistic and fun but chivarly is more diverse and has more objectives
I just feel like the overall directional combat and mechanics in mordhau are better in every way. The game is hard as fuck for new players, its true, but if you're willing to stick with it the game keeps getting better and better to the point where other games feel as though they pale in comparison. All that said, you are right about Chivalry being better for casual players.
Mordhau is better in my opinion. I recently got Chivalry 2 and it's a great game, the maps are undoubtable better but Mordhau has better combat, customization, and great maps of their own even if they're not as good as Chiv 2's. Also, Mordhau has horses. The vibe of Mordhau is just fantastic too, most players are serious but you'll have your goofy players which are simply hilarious and bring me back to the game too. The ONLY issue I have with Mordhau is the drag system. An easy fix would be to lower the damage depending on swing time, yet Devs refuse to do this.
I agree, tried out Chivalry 2 for like 2-5 hours but it just made me want to play Mordhau more, always liked that you couldnt just hold block and had to actually time it or ur dead, feinting also works better because you cant just hold block unless you have a shield. Also the customization is one of the bigger parts why I like it more.
Me, I am a Mount & Blade Warband player because this is a timless game that will never die out, however Mordhau has died out a little and it won't be long before even Chiv 2 does as well.
Chivalry 2 is better by far. The graphics to are more beautiful, there’s more lore and some story, combat more satisfying, not as hard to master compared to Mordhau, the voice acting is awesome, weapons are cool, and the maps and objectives variation enough to keep playing. It’s more polished. The only thing that I would love to see Chiv 2 do is naval combat on ships in the ocean, or a jungle map would be epic in thick trees and waterfalls will make for some intense close quarters combat.
Mordhau was definitly one of the games where i had the most fun ever at launch but also it has massive negative points. maps were always weaker than in chiv, development took ages and the games skill ceiling is way too high that now most of the playerbase are lvl 200+ and it is zero fun to play against them in duels. animation abuse is a big problem which is not a great experience for a casual.
CHIV 2 if u want a comp scean mordhau if u want to goof around and have fun mordhau has a hard cap to skill after a while where chiv the moon is the skill ceiling i have 1500 hr in mordhau in a few hundred in chiv 2
As a casual player, I love Chiv 2 more. I've played both games, but I've come back to and played Chiv a lot more. I do love Mordau's customization more though.
Mordhau makes me angry cuz I’m a casual player and there’s all this crazy ass complex shit people do when I just wanna swing my sword around and not die pretty much every time I go into combat. It can be fun tho, maybe one day I’ll get into chivalry and learn how to git gud fr. But it’s not a priority tbh
I think you might be a little bit bias however I agree with most of what you said, Mordhau's OG community is incredibly toxic because of how competitive it is, if you just wanna have fun go Chivalry, if you are planning on playing with your friends or going pro go Mordhau, good video!
Yeah agree with you, he has good points but many things he used as argument for making Chilvary 2 look better were shallow or simply things that he himself found better. For me both games are good but there is no "better game", cause Chilvary is for a more casual player who wants to have a quick game of slashing and blocking, while Mordhau is a more competitive game that demands more time and patience to learn its inner workings. While similar, both have different target audiences, and comparing one with the other on the surface can be a simple thing, however, if you dig deep enough you start to see how their differences make them two whole different games, only having in common the dynamics and the setting.
I agree with both of you, at the end of the day in reality there really isn’t a better game, just a game that applies to different communities. I enjoy both games thoroughly but found myself enjoying chiv a little but more. I tried to make this video with out that bias but what can you do.
Mordhaus competitive scene is very good, that being said chiv has alot more combat mechanics thus allowing the game to have a higher skill ceiling with less animation abuse. Mordhau is mostly about hard reads due to the lack of combat options. I find mordhau tedious for that reason. Chiv is more based on enemy manipulation and playing mind games. Rather than reading when the attack is going to hit like mordhau you must think what kind of attack and why because certain attacks will give you certain benifits. For my money chiv.
I just got Mordhau today and tried it, I like it a lot more than Chivalry, though the thing that makes me go back to Chivalry is how you need to have the reaction time of a fly in order to not die every -0.5 seconds, suppose it is more realistic though.
Yea I do like chivalry more because of that. I believe (and it is my opinion) that chivalry’s combat is more fun because of the held block. Now if you ask me a couple years ago, mordhau would’ve reigned supreme because I was really into it. I thoroughly enjoy both games, so I’m glad your enjoying both!
(console player) ive played alot of chivelry 2 and am pretty good, ive been playing mordhau for like 2 days and ive gotta say i prefer it in almost everyway. both are amazing and alot of fun but mordhau to me is more dynamic in the way you can play, the bows feel a l o t better and the climbing aspect is alot of fun. just feels like theres more options in gameplay. my only issues with mordhau is having to look up or down for the downward swing feels a lil off and inconsistent, sometimes it feels like a bit of a grind to get the gear you want and ige experienced alot of games that dont ever push past the first objective where ive had more intense matches in chiverly where it was a big give and take on both sides but im sure as i play more I'll have more experiences similar to that in mordhau
I like to say it like this Want an immersive medivle holywood film where you yourself can become an action hero even if its just for one fight, want to feel like you are actualy fighting for a course that your knight belives in? Play chivalry Want to play a competetive sword fighting game, play mordhau
Chivalry is good for the casual player because they can do well without having to put hours and hours into the game. But chivalry’s combat is so restricted and clunky compared to mordhau. Mordhau’s combat is far superior, yes it takes a lot of practice to get good. But the fluidity and movements makes it feels you’re in full control of your character.
As your statement stands mostly correct that the Mordhau combat is superior.. it’s also extremely frustrating when pretty much every public server has 10+ sweat lords that wreck most people without a chance. The insane morphs they do is pretty much unblockable and you are dead on the ground wondering what happened
@@Shortay1325 that’s mainly because mordhau has quite a small community player base. Meaning the people that still play are usually the ones who’s been playing since its release who have hundreds/thousands of hours in the game.
I’ve had more glitches playing chiv 2, from new maps crashing the game to cosmetic invisibility glitches and skins never actually loading in,granted I did get chiv on console compared to Mordhau on PC. Even without the glitches I still like Mordhau more that chiv because of the direction the devs are taking the games. For all my gripes about Mordhau’s devs, they don’t lock most of their new cosmetics behind scummy battle-passes, sure they add some dlc armors and voices, but it feels more justified with them being an indie company that is more heavily impacted by income, whereas tritineron just randomly implemented a battle-pass system that wasn’t really needed.
Torn Banner isn't exactly something like Ubisoft either, it's definitely bigger than Mordhau's team but they suffer the same problems indie games suffered as well as the problems bigger studios have, they have a bigger team so it's more polished but still Personally I found the battle pass thing a bit annoying, but as mentioned before, they needed a way to make money because Chiv 2 is almost never at full price, it's a huge shame that almost all of the Tenosian customization options are behind a paywall
@@Ocoro_ I totally get that as a smaller studio they needed to make money, and I’d be far less concerned about the battlepass if they fixed glitches like the game crashing every time I spawn on a new map or me having a default npc skin for the entire match. But the issue is, I kept getting those glitches every time I played, and I returned to chiv 2 after multi-month breaks, multiple times. I followed it for years hoping they’d fix its issues, but they never did, so the battlepass implementation just felt like an added slight.
@@GreenKnight343 That's fair, personally I haven't gotten any glitches in a long time aside from a guy being invisible ever so often but if that's what you experienced it makes sense
Although mordhou is objectively better I personally prefer chiv 2 It's obvious that mordhou has slightly better designed gameplay but the steep learning curve means you need to play consistently to be any good So as someone who tends to play games on and off I have more fun in chiv 2
Chivlary 2 for gameplay, actual fights, and getting into it. Mordhau, only if you want to fool around, like in a mental asylum. I wouldnt recommend Morhau for actual gameplay.. just to troll or have fun with voice commands, emotes..etc It can be hilarious.
I played only mordhau. Must say i disliked how by default your team is not highlighted and it's actually a button you need to find. Because at any point a blue team mate can become a red one and then your own team kills him because of it. Not to mention that you can customize your character to not even show any color flags which is insane. Add to that a combat that looks like you are getting a spasm and the ability to turn almost as fast as you swing having your weapon basically stay still right in front of your opponent face just waiting for him to use his parry...
Yeah I agree, there was many times where I found myself attacking my own teammates because they had little to no team color. And the combat is fine until you start getting into dedicated servers, then you better know what the hell your looking at 😂
@@TheTrueTato imo the combat could be better. I mentioned the ability to slow swing which in real combat would do no damage while an acel would do more damage but only on the end of the swing cuz basic physics. I think that the damage you do should be proportional to the speed of your swing in which case attacks with a charge would do more damage, acels and stepping in with a swing also would do more damage than normal and delayed ones
I honestly think that’s a really good point, and a point I’ve never seen before. Thinking more about it, it makes since that you would do little damage if your sword wasn’t moving fast. So I think a game that focuses on technique rather than tricks. That would honestly be cool if a game would focused more on technique. Good point!
For some weird reason, i like mordhau better. It's so goofy with weird ass characteristics running around and playing lute. And i like the gameplay better. I love the parry in mordhau, in chiv it's too easy in my opinion because you don't have to time it
Yoo! Those of you who liked this video should watch my most recent video on The Outer worlds 👀
I agree, Chiv is more polished, but in the end Mordhau keeps me around because of the immaculate vibes of it's customisation. We have Vikings and Landsknechts fighting side by side, tons of crazy weapons from across different eras, and there is definitely something here for all history fans.
I didn’t even think about the history aspect, thanks for bringing it up to me!
I still remember watching "War of the Roses vs Chivalry" by John Bain/Cynnicalbrit.This video really reawakened some deep memories & I wasn't expecting that.
Personally I love mordhau’s goofyness
And honestly the goofyness is one of the biggest reason to play mordhau
@@TheTrueTato It is also way better than chiv2, tho.
@@nocturnaljoe9543how about giving your reasons for why like an actual response.
I hate roleplayers!!!
Mordhau was built to be competitive, chivalry 2 was not.
in Chiv2 low level players get destroyed, in Mordhau the moment a lvl 200 player looks at your direction your entire PC takes fire.
A level 30 cannot even compare to a level 100 what your saying is with all games not with chiv new players cannot beat experienced players in ANY game
lvl 200's in mordhau always do the weirdest shit to hit you like a triple-double-fakeout-morph until they catch you lacking and that's when they one shot you with a fucking maul while laughing maniacally, mordhau's combat is definitely more complex than chivalry, but the blocking in chiv 2 is actually much better than mordhaus
Imagine a planetside/chivary type game where you fight for your kingdom. Skirmishes and massive battles for land taking place naturally.
Why must you give me a dream that will never come to fruition 😭. It would be cool if damage done to each monument stays, so you can see how war torn certain areas are

across both genres I have at least 1000 hours, and your verdict makes sense, Mordhau can be pretty toxic because of it's playerbase, but some servers are pretty alright and goofy.
I agree with you 100%, they both have their quirks but chivalry 2 ultimately applies to more people than mordhau does.
Only Mordhau has the *"HAVE AT THEM BOOOOIS!"* feels.
That explains why Mordhau is so much ass tbh
For Honor was even asser, so how could a game with similar mindset be any different?
I fucking hate that "Reading" mindset in games. I don't want to Read, I want to React. Fuck gambling.
If I wanted to Read, I'd play a strategy game, not an *ACTION* game (just to be bashed and dodge attacked 6 times in a row)
I play alot of for honor and it makes me wanna commit s***ide every day
@@pardolagames8994 you can play based on your reaction, there's a lot of moves that I personally can react to and act accordingly without gambling
@@seanmacguire8148 except feints, or a lot of shit that literally doesn't even appear in your FOV (dude's weapon literally too low or wide)
i guess i just got used to most of the animations (150hours in) but I have no problem reacting to feints, my only problem is dodge attacks being spammed by everyone, its not hard to counter just annoying
The worst thing about Mordhau is actually the people who play it.
@@jjames093 it definitely helps a lot with fundimentals, you will just have to get used to dodging with your mouse more if you don't already
Not too sure about Mordhau having a better combat system, half the fighting there consists of becoming a box and trying to time a block correctly
Chivalry actually implemented feints as a feature and not a glitch, so no spines being broken in half all the time
@@Ocoro_ Having played Chiv 2 now, I totally agree with you.
I mistakenly accounted smoothness and fluidity as better mechanics.
movement animations in both mordhau n csgo look retarded
@@wave7949you were right the first time. Chiv2 is a spectacle but the combat is terrible compared to Mordhau.
I like how the fact that attack almost always steamrolls defense in Chivalry II is actually canon in the lore
Which is awesome and makes fights feel so much better
Fun to actually play for the game is Chivalry. Mordhau is basically a medieval outfit creator, since the actual combat is BS
I envy Mordhau only for customization, but this would also take away a bit of immersion because with a total customization obviously people play a bit (and if possible it is also right that it is so!) I would do everything in order to match the setting but I understand that they would not all do so ruining the immersion for me ^^
I WANT THOSE GAME IN VR!
Fair enough, there’s something simple yet elegant about medieval esthetic
That my man was by far the best defense for mordhau, bravo 👏🏼
Idk acceled counters are as fast as chambers

Respectable choice my man 🙌🏼, and that’s the unfortunate reality of mordhau
This. I am also ditching Mordhau as we speak and I am going to buy Chiv 2. I had such a good time in Chiv 1 for years, but I am having a horrible time in Mordhau.

100% although the cosmetic is less than mordhau I do like it a lot and hope some more cosmetics come out.
chiv 2's cosmetic system functions the same as chiv: medieval warfare, usually they add more overtime but chiv devs are less focused on cosmetics and more on maps and gamemodes

If this sounds daunting and you want guaranteed fun, get chiv 2.
Couldn’t have said it better myself
Mordhau is so rewarding once you’ve put in hundreds of hours. The combat is deep and the skill ceiling is high.
Totally agree it isn’t a game your average joe will commit enough time to really enjoy.
Chiv 2 gets plenty competetive in duel servers. You will still get absolutely trashed as a mid player. The difference is Mordhau has a pretty high skill floor and a severe lack of newer players.
Chiv 2 is only more relaxed in TO because the there are so many newish players around. Mordhau used to be this way on release too.
Coming from someone who has played both and have more than 20 hours in both:
Mordhau has a better/worse community, sometimes you end up in a server with 5 archers and in the next one you are in a server with 100 level 1000s , but then you end up in a server with people that are just as skilled as you, and a bard playing paint it black. But in chivalry the community is varied, some people hate new players, while others mass ffa. Personally i prefer chivalry.
Mordhau is the game that has a modded server that allows you to listen to meme music whilst beating someone to death with a carrot. If that's not casual, I don't know what is.
Mordhau is the Dota of medieval slashers. It the most technical and skill intensive of it's genre, and that might intimidate most casual players
*Incredible video, bro. I'm playing Chivalry 2 and now I want to try Mordhau as well.* 🏹
You should definitely give it a shot!
Just picked up Chivalry 2 after starting on Mordhau first. I'm really curious to see how it will feel transitioning into a different combat system.
What you think?
Honestly, I think I enjoy Mordhau's combat more? I'd have to play it again to really compare, but wide range of customization Mordhau has makes it feel somewhat better to me. @@actuallycolt9938
How did it go ?
"Mordhau has a better counter system where if you counterattack the same attack you can reflect an attack"
Thats in Chiv as well?
if you want to have fun, play chivalry 2. mordhau's community is toxic, and unforgiving.
all communities are toxic (because of humans).
5 minutes ago i danced on the barn roof with "Happy New Year" music and 12 peoples from both teams (sry bad english)
You forgot to mention horse in mordhau
My fault og 😩, tbh looking back there’s a lot more I could’ve said and done a better job at articulating my point. But you live and learn lol
There's also horses in chiv 2
Chivalry 2 is better because feint spam and animation abuse combined with a half a second block on a 2 second cd infuriates me in mordhau
Honestly fair enough!
Mordhau is really funny once we dressed up as KKK members and we fought against the African natives. I have the video on my UA-cam

Either way mordhau is fun anddd funny ill probably come back when i get better.. but i judt can't deal with it right now
honestly dude i would have stuck with mordhau both games play drastically different
For casuals: chiv 2
For comp tryhards: mordhau
Id take mordhau 10 times outta 10.

Bro you captured a moment with a pillar of the mordhau community "Fake Underwear." I'm surprised he didn't vote kick you from the game for being a ytber.
Lmao I didn’t even know I was being graced with his presence. I’m lucky to have gotten out alive as a UA-camr
I was undefeated in Chivalry 1 for like 4 months. Miss those times.
Chiv2 has more combat options. While mordhau's combat is based on hard reads. I know what I'm picking
@@harrylatshaw4944 mordhau's morphing system looks way to dumb for me to get into, chivs reads feel more fair whenever i miss a read
@@snakeCase agreed, along with literally having more combat options. This makes the skill ceiling higher.

Combat - Mordhau
Maps - Chivalry 2
I tried to play both, I like chivalry 2 for the silliness, fighting wise, but I love Mordhaus technical fighting (not great at it) , and like in the name, you can perform Mordhau. Mordhau also has more customization, you can wear jester clothes, and more! Chivalry 2 may not have that, but they’re both great games if you want a good time, and make some friends.
I wish there was a big medieval slasher game that's not neglected by their devs
I really liked the first one.
those squeaking sneakers! XD lmao
Well i am looking for objective conclusion. And you made it clearly at the beginning that you are absolutely biased towards chiv.
i hope one day we can get a chiv 2/mordhau type of game combined with long persistent battles/maps , similar to a Realm vs Realm type mode you can see in planetside 2 or guild wars 2 World vs world, i can never play something like chiv2 for long periods, matchmaking and fairly short battles kinda feel empty after a while
That’s sounds like an awesome dream!
Mount and blade but just focused on multiplayer version
i want to like chivalry more because thats where it all started, and i LOVED the deadliest warrior games, but the customization is so nice in Mordhau it feels so lacking in Chiv2
Kingdom come is the better medieval fighting game
This‼️
correct.
Chivalry 2 - easy to learn, hard to master.
As a Chivalry 2 player that just started playing Mordhau, this explained why it Mordhau feels lime Chiv on crack
I did play chiv two on PS4, it was quite a bad experience but when i got my good PC i went on Mordhau and in just a Year i have become really good at it, so i don't know if it's because of the platform i played on but Mordhau is really what i love
i love both but nobody plays mordhau anymore :( chiv seems to have a big enough playerbase still
Yea that’s my biggest issue with it and I should’ve mentioned that in the video, I have to much footage of me just matchmaking trying to find a game in mordhau. Almost felt like tarkov 😂
Mordhau is too much of the sweatfest for me. With Chiv I can always jump into a game and have fun without being killed over and over again by some adderol infused master fencer. Bards are awesome though, would love to see something like that in Chiv.

Thanks brotha that means a lot!
tbh i was hearing sm negative things that it made chivalry 2 look like shit for me but now hearing this video and realizing how cool maps actually are i like chiv two a lot again
Glad to hear it!
If we rename the chivarly 2 to "Messer and every one handed weapon gameplay" it can sell
Mordhau = maximum player expression , wether that’s combat or customization or the player base itself. I love it
As a mardhau player and i tried chivarly2 but mardhau is more simple and fun and the fake hit is what make the gameplay more realistic and fun but chivarly is more diverse and has more objectives
Is there a newer game without the waistbending and pommel aiming superdrag movement mechanics?
I’m gonna have to look into it, but not that I know of at the moment. Stick around and you might see a video on it if I find one😄
Btw morhau have offline bot
Thank you for the video. I got both for free from the Epic store about to try the genre out with Chivalry 2
when was it free?
Mordhau world with Chivalry 2 combat would be the best
Would love to play Mordhau with friends and bots... but nope, NO COSMETIC UNLOCKS unless you play online with clowns... yeah f*ck that!
EXACTLY. You understand my point of view to the tee.
For one, the mordhau devs aren't idiotic. The game hasn't been in a state of freezing multiple times a match or not having cross progression
Bannerlord is better than both combined.
GREAT VIDEO, very good narrating voice aswell... you deserve 220k-230k subs at least with your current level of production
Thank you! Hopefully I’ll be there or well past it soon. Just need to get back to posting lol
CHIV 2 if u want a comp scean mordhau if u want to goof around and have fun mordhau has a hard cap to skill after a while where chiv the moon is the skill ceiling
i have 1500 hr in mordhau in a few hundred in chiv 2
its the exact opposite
Neither is true. Both have a high skill ceiling that is essentially unreachable. @@ballpoint7887
As a casual player, I love Chiv 2 more. I've played both games, but I've come back to and played Chiv a lot more. I do love Mordau's customization more though.
I would have team with Torb Banner if they didn't ditch Chiv1, make arcane warfare and put Chiv 2 on EGS exclusive.
Well if you like playing casual, then I suggest chivalry imo. It’s a lot easier to have fun without being a sweat 😂
@@TheTrueTato Totally understandable.
@harrylatshaw4944 Bro thinks chivarly 2 got skill ceiling 💀💀💀💀💀
Tato got filtered by the frying pan meta.
Chivalry 2 just needs to add more things to it. And advanced tge customization system.
I like to say it like this
Want an immersive medivle holywood film where you yourself can become an action hero even if its just for one fight, want to feel like you are actualy fighting for a course that your knight belives in? Play chivalry
Want to play a competetive sword fighting game, play mordhau
Chivalry is good for the casual player because they can do well without having to put hours and hours into the game.
But chivalry’s combat is so restricted and clunky compared to mordhau.
Mordhau’s combat is far superior, yes it takes a lot of practice to get good. But the fluidity and movements makes it feels you’re in full control of your character.
You must be smoking bruh bruh
@@brandoncavnar9269 smoking truth bro
Torn Banner isn't exactly something like Ubisoft either, it's definitely bigger than Mordhau's team but they suffer the same problems indie games suffered as well as the problems bigger studios have, they have a bigger team so it's more polished but still
Personally I found the battle pass thing a bit annoying, but as mentioned before, they needed a way to make money because Chiv 2 is almost never at full price, it's a huge shame that almost all of the Tenosian customization options are behind a paywall
I wish both games were one. Chivs amazing maps and music paired with Mordhau's rock paper scissors' combat system.
Although mordhou is objectively better I personally prefer chiv 2
It's obvious that mordhou has slightly better designed gameplay but the steep learning curve means you need to play consistently to be any good
So as someone who tends to play games on and off I have more fun in chiv 2
