It all started on a sunny afternoon at Brendam Docks, where Edward, the seasoned and thoughtful engine, was overseeing the loading of various cargoes. The docks were bustling with activity as crates of goods were being carefully arranged onto waiting ships. Nearby, Percy, Edward's cheerful green friend, was shunting cars to clear space for the incoming shipments.
Amidst the routine, a shipment of volatile materials arrived, destined for construction projects across Sodor. This included crates of unstable dynamite, a fact that made even the most experienced dock workers nervous. Unfortunately, a series of mishaps during the loading process led to a catastrophic chain reaction.
Without warning, a deafening explosion ripped through the air, shaking the very foundations of Brendam Docks. Edward and Percy felt the shockwave reverberate through their frames as smoke and debris filled the sky. Buildings trembled, tracks were torn asunder, and chaos erupted among the dock workers and nearby inhabitants.
Sir Topham Hatt, the steadfast overseer of Sodor's railway, immediately initiated emergency protocols. Edward, despite being shaken by the blast, leaped into action alongside Percy and other engines. Together, they braved the chaos, pulling derailed cars back onto the tracks, clearing debris to free trapped workers, and comforting the injured.
As the smoke slowly cleared, the true devastation became evident. The docks, once a bustling center of trade and activity, lay in ruins. Buildings were reduced to rubble, and the once-clear waters of Brendam Bay were clouded with debris. The entire community was in shock, grappling with the aftermath of the explosion.
In the weeks that followed, Sodor rallied together. Engineers and workers from across the island descended upon Brendam to assist in rebuilding efforts. Edward, respected for his wisdom and courage, took a leading role in coordinating the reconstruction. With perseverance and determination, they rebuilt the docks, repaired the tracks, and restored hope to a shattered community.
The Brendam Bay Blast became a pivotal moment in Sodor's history, a reminder of the fragility of their peaceful existence and the resilience of their spirit. It sparked discussions about safety and oversight, prompting improvements in handling hazardous materials across the island.
Years later, as Brendam Docks thrived once more and the scars of the blast faded into memory, the engines looked back on that fateful day with a mixture of solemnity and pride. Edward, in particular, was celebrated for his leadership and compassion during the crisis - a testament to the strength of character that defined the engines of Sodor, even in the face of the most challenging adversities.

Really emphasizes the danger and urgency of the situation. Trains are extremely heavy and fast, they can’t stop quickly. All the more terrifying when one losses control, the sheer mass and momentum is very devastating when it derails. Especially if it’s near a residential area and/or carrying hazardous materials. Perfect real life example would be the Cajon Pass or more recently the Ohio derailment.

i love how grandiose the choir makes this. the image i get in my head is a chase like in the Adventure Begins but with more intense possible ramifications. but an engine like Thomas or Edward pushes themselves so hard that things like their axle rods break or their boiler begins to leak starts happening

    • @BobbyMcGuffinZectorsSector
      @BobbyMcGuffinZectorsSector 11 місяців тому

after thinking about it more, the scene i would love to see this behind is as follows:
Gordon leaves with the express but ends up a runaway. no crew or guard to stop the train of packed coaches barreling down the mainline at high speed. cue the station pilot (perhaps Percy) taking a brake van with the guard and Gordon's crew and giving chase. but Gordon is the express engine. Percy tires quickly. but James catches up to Percy and couples up behind. Percy uncouples and takes a switch. James now gives chase. it goes like that for a while. James to Emily, Emily to Duck, Duck to Henry. Henry then passed it off to Thomas who gives chase. he's getting close. so close. but it's not enough. Thomas falls behind. but then an engine couples up to the brakevan. it's Edward. Thomas lets Edward take it and runs out of steam, coming to a halt while watching the Edward chase Gordon. then this song plays. Edward pushes himself faster than he ever has. his coupling rods snap off, shredding his sides. sparks fly from his funnel and his front truck derails. worse, steam starts leaking from his boiler. BUT! he manages to get the brakevan close enough for the crew to get into the coaches and crawl over Gordon's tender to bring him to a halt

Freight cars had not been properly hitched, so they became disconnected.
The freight cars quickly went down the hill and plowed into the Wellsworth Yard.
The yard was an unbelievable mess.
Why didn't they make sure the freight cars were properly coupled at that time?

Same thing if in Trainz sim 2, placed a train on a hill (in Rosworth map because that’s the only one with a steep hill) and changed settings in quick drive to “realistic mode” and flys down the hill at 100+ mph

    Based on a true story
A train nearby started its engine as it was heading towards a small town 30 miles away, I watched this train go down the tracks 1:06 eventually, the passengers feel a bit uncomfortable as something felt off 1:27 eventually the conductor also felt a bit anxious and uncomfortable but he was just told by a nearby train that it was probably just the thoughts in his head 1:49 everyone on the train then realizes something bad is going to happen soon and try escaping but the train is slowly moving faster without stopping 2:11 they were panicking as the train was getting close to a nearby town with less than 2,000 people 2:31 The Passengers and the conductor watched in horror as there was nothing they could do as they were speeding up towards a small town 2:51 The Train eventually derails 2:54
The train eventually explodes just seconds after derailing in the tracks crossing this small town, rest in peace to those who died in this true crash 2 2:55
