Percy puffed wearily onto a nice, empty siding, ending in a big bank of earth. He was too tired to care now where he went. "I want to stop! I want to stop! I *have* stopped!" he puffed thankfully.
When your so used to hearing the runaway theme not being clean, having sfx and narration in it for the S1-3 one that this sounds a bit off on a 1st listen
Yeah, when I was younger, I would always listen to those versions people made with just clips from the show in really bad quality, and coupled with the fact that most runaway scenes have a lot of chuffing noises makes those ones pretty hard to go back to.

There should be two variants for the season 2 version, for The Runaway and A Close Shave (Old Iron variant I think won't be part of it mainly because it is basically the same as the Dirty Objects variant). I just hope that the beginning and ending of the A Close Shave variant will be included.

What I really do like bout season 1's runaway theme is that last bit at the end of the first and third variants. They are scary af and show the severity of the situation well, shame it wasn't reused.
Fr! The end of those variants is so sudden, most runaway themes slow down at the end, and if they don't, then there's a build up to the crash. In the Dirty Objects and first Percy Runs Away runaway themes, the ending is so sudden.

The first and 3rd versions sound just about perfect, but the 2nd version seems to be lacking the power behind it to me. Listening to the actual episode the main melody sounds more...poundy? I'm no musician so I'm not really sure how to describe it. Lacking a bit of oomph it seems to have in the episode. Love your work though, we owe you a lot mate!
I can guarantee you I have gotten down everything I could hear in that episode down from each note to each percussion line. EQ can play a huge effect in this things as there’s no proper soundtrack so hearing said thing in a ‘clean’ way can be a bit weird when we’re used to hearing it muffled under a lot of SFX/ older audio quality.

Actually the variant in Breakdown Train is different from that of Percy Runs Away. I'm surprised nobody's noticed that.
