Especially with the new Powershell execution script... I'm interested in the files that was "clicked" on manually on Kaspersky's side was actually "easy cases" that was already removed by Bitdefender to start with. So the 45 left by Bitdefender was the most difficult ones.
I've used both Bitdefender and Kaspersky in the last few years, and I must say they're probably my favorite products for anti-malware and general protection. Not all that surprised both resulted in such a satisfactory way. As was mentioned in the video, Kaspersky's actual application gives off a much more polished and attractive feel. In the end, I'm more inclined to stick with it over Bitdefender.
I've just tested both Kaspersky Free and Bitdefender Free on my over 10 year old potato PC. Kaspersky seems to have lower RAM usage (I have only 1GB of RAM btw) than Bitdefender. Kaspersky uses about 15 to 40 MB of RAM on Idle, while Bitdefender Uses around 150 MB of RAM and hogs the system. Seems a bit strange because Bitdefender was supposed to be lightweight, however it gave me a warning about too low RAM (It wants at least 1.5GB of RAM). So my go to AV for now is Kaspersky Free.
I love Bitdefender, my favorite free AV, few days ago it saved me from 2 ransomwares that I downloaded from TRUSTED websites... thank god I scan every file that I download no mather where did I got them from
Both are great products BUT every year when Bitdender release a new version it makes my P.C ramp up the CPU cores one at a time when desktop is up and P.C is idle, this has happened the last couple of years hence why I now use Kaspersky.

Two bad problems I have experienced with Bitdefender: 1) Bitdefender blocks a great many websites unnecessarily. I have manually cancelled the blocks in many cases with no harmful results. The Bitdefender included sites, major institutions, that one would think are safe - and they were. 2) Bitdefender would not allow me to go to the site therealnews dot com. I complained by webmail to Bitdefender, but never received a reply. I called the tech support number and mentioned that therealnews is a news publisher. No resolution of the problem was made. In order to access the website therealnews dot com, I had to exclude it from antivirus protection.
Goedelite Kurt I had similar issues basically it was blocking me from playing some games like Black Desert Online cuz bitdefender thought It was a virus. In order to play it I had to turn the whole thing off. Same thing happened with payments with blizzard games. I switched to Kaspersky and it all went away loving it so far.

Wow thankyou so much for doing a comparison. I do IT work for alot of home people and pensioners who might not have the funds for a subscription product. Definitely will have these two on my list now compared to windows defender
I have been using only WinDef since 2016, and had no issues. However, facing all these tests I've seen here in TPSC, it's time to move to one of these two AVs showed in this video. I'll start with Bitdefender.
What i don't like to BitDefender products (PC or Mobile), in order to use them you need to register/sign-up on their website with an account and this is so annoying. In order to use and benefit from BitDefender engine, i use 360 Total Security from Quihoo that uses both BitDefender and AVIRA engines, along with Zemana. On the other hand, Kaspersky is also good, but it takes many resources and as shown in this test, it is very slow, like very slow - in my case, an i7 with 32 GB RAM, it runs after a while so slow, that i have to give up (Free version).
As i said, i do not like the need to login into an account before you can be able to use that suite - so, you need an online connection (BitDefender), and those security products that do not offer offline updates, this is something i cannot understand... Until now, COMODO, 360 Total Security and AVG products are offering offline updates. When i go to someone to make his PC, i want to be able to install the security suite offline (offline installer), then to be able to update AV database offline (no internet) and to not be annoyed by ADS pop-ups like need to sign-in/buy full version and many crap like this. Very simple.
Owning an i7 with 32GB mem I wonder just how much of an impact you are seeing here as many reviews speak of low resource usage from Kaspersky. I guess I might be going back to Avira as it is lightweight but has great detection (it's just so ugly which isn't actually important to it's function which I care more about but I'd still like to see improved).
Using Free or Internet Security suite in an office environment, then yes, it is great. As gamer, or any other resource activity on your PC, then, it is not great anymore!
Well then, that said let me ask, what are you using or suggesting (if you're willing to suggest something)? I've worked in IT for years but not as much as I once did (health reasons). I'm will be running Win10 Pro x64 Retail, an i7-6700K with 32GB mem, 1TB 970 EVO M.2 (obviously) and an EVGA 1080Ti so it's pretty decent but I still don't want to compromise performance more than needed. I edit video and watch videos and surf the web more than anything else but also like the option to play any game I want IF I want. I multi-task and have a lot open often so I don't want my security software sucking tons of resources (even if I have a decent amount of said resources). That's what brought me here looking at what people are using these days. I sort of used to like Avast and still for the most part like Avira (if you customize the install on both these days without a doubt...otherwise jeez what a bloated mess you end up with). Right now I haven't installed the 970 or 1080 (prob this weekend), still on the 950 (500GB) and 960 running Windows Defender (got curious, removed Avira to see what improvements they made since Win7 Sec Essentials) and Malwarebytes Premium (got a lifetime license free years ago so why not). Anyway, thanks for replying and again just looking for what people are using right now so reading and watching videos to see some comparisons but since you have a comparable system your input is useful.
I do the same. the only thing that consume the most memory is my Vivaldi browser with a lot of pages open. I play games from time to time, i also have some programs that are starting with my Windows 10 Pro. As security - for AV i use 360 Total Security (3Y License), for firewall i use Windows Firewall Control and for malware i use Malwarebytes (Free version - only for manual scan) and Zemana AntiLogger (Lifetime License). My system spec.: valid.x86.fr/qcpe0r
I appreciate all of your insight and hard work producing these Very informative videos :) Do you ever compare Windows Defender directly with other free AV's? I've seen the AVG/AVAST/AVIRA comparison and the one above, just not against Defender :/
I've been using both on very similar PC's for the last week and have found Bitdefender is quite a bit lighter. Win Defender is ok on SSD drives and on Win 7 but seems to keep the disk at 100% on Win 10 with platter drives.
I've got 3 viruses form internet yesterday, i remember that its name NsCPU, it ran my PC out of 25% CPU realtime. My Pc infected (windows defender), so i installed Kasper free and it did not worrk, there is no virus, impossible! i install bit free then, it work but can not remove them! i know it's better but no good enough to save your PC!
Excellent review I'm about to download one of these I'm not sure which one yet. Do either one of them expire after a year or you have to renew it or re-install it ? Thanks. Keith
Both of this products is always the best kaspersky and bitdefender. Even i've been try bitdefender before internet security and kaspersky too always best security. Hopefully both this product can always make our internet and computer secure from any threats
Hi Leo, Both are excellent products of course Kaspersky has cloud detection where Bitdefender doesn't have cloud protection (Photon) Bitdefender seems to have a better intrusion detection.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter which one of these you get. You're going to get a superior product with either program to protect you, and more importantly your system and data and with their premium plans you're just going to protect yourself even more. Basically you'll be like as if you and your computer were Fort Knox. I personally use BitDefender Total Security, never had a problem with it and keeps me nice and safe. Not that i've had any yet but it's nice to know I am if there is a time!
Please redo this test in 2021. I would love this.

Please do a 3 way including Avast, Kaspersky, and Bitdefender
Isn't that a Russian troll?
was very understandable for . You were so detailed and it made all these new tNice tutorialngs way less intimidating
Which has lower system impact ?
Exactly. If they both have similar detection rates then this would be the decider. Wold be good to know.
Cyba IT : yes I have used both of them.. both slow down my system with 12 gb RAM installed..
I've been using both on very similar PC's for the last week and have found Bitdefender is quite a bit lighter. Win Defender is ok on SSD drives and on Win 7 but seems to keep the disk at 100% on Win 10 with platter drives.
Cyba IT : this is about paid or free version??
Nik Ng all free versions Nik
Still a great channel and informative videos :) When I upgrade from Vista I would really benefit from PCSC :)
Bitdefender has a lot of false positives, Steam games you name it.
Yesssss, thats what i was looking for. hanks for helping
I use simply windows defender
I've got 3 viruses form internet yesterday, i remember that its name NsCPU, it ran my PC out of 25% CPU realtime. My Pc infected (windows defender), so i installed Kasper free and it did not worrk, there is no virus, impossible! i install bit free then, it work but can not remove them! i know it's better but no good enough to save your PC!
The best thing to do is to check shady programs with VirusTotal.
Good to see how they did on the zeroday samples! Great video ;)
Kaspersky Is the best!
The eternal battle in cyber security finally exposed!
joke, Bitdefender is best
I've seen that has actually explained it to in a concise way!
Thanks a lot - your video is a Great start to soft soft. I'm onto it !
Hi Leo, Both are excellent products of course Kaspersky has cloud detection where Bitdefender doesn't have cloud protection (Photon) Bitdefender seems to have a better intrusion detection.
you record with hardware outside of the program. Great tutorial btw it was very detailed but still just right for beginners.
Had kaspersky on my phone for about 2 years and its the only antivitus that actually deleted the malware i had its great!
Have you tried 360 security?
Thank You for taking the time.
