I fly fpv for several years. I now have the av2. It’s great at what it does. For a grand it’s pretty damn awesome. What has brought the most joy is that anyone can fly this drone. Therefore, it’s allowed my family and friends to give it a try over all my home built racers etc. I think DJI along with this drone has opened the door to the fpv sport now.
Having a blast with mine. This is my first experience flying FPV. It's a heck of a lot of fun and will give me even more options when doing cinematics.
so if I never flown a drone before and suck at joystick type controllers (like video games) would I be able to use this easily with just the Motion 3 controller? thanks
@@georgebarbero4743 I've found flying with the motion controller easy and intuitive. Your first battery or two should be flown in beginner mode, as this keeps the drone close and moving slowly.
Tbh this drone is perfect for what it is. It's a perfect travel fpv drone that is very capable of getting nice and easy fpv footage. Super easy to get in the air nice and quick and has a panic button for peace of mind. Mix this with the mini 4 and the pocket 3 and you have a powerhouse content creation kit with a super small footprint. Cheers.
The zoomed in field of view on the passthrough is done on purpose. DJI does not want people walking around with the goggles and be liable for accidents. For me it allows me to adjust stuff on the drone after putting the goggles on.
Hey, I fly the Mini 3 & 4 Pro, and ordered an A-2 that should be here next week. Since they made the goggles compatible with the Mini 4 Pro, I wanted the FPV experience but since it all works in CI mode, will try both of them tomorrow what she goes off to work afain.
I have both avata 1and 2 and the controllers are now compatible. It also true that the avata 2 is more fragile than the original. I had a catastrophic crash and I had to use my care refresh. The original avata would had survived the crash. I love the avata 2 though 🤗
Hi there, and thank you for the video! To everyone else in this comments section, I think that I may be a bit crazy. I went from not flying any drones (aside of a few times in the past) to buying all new gear associated with the Mini 4 Pro and the Avata 2! On first flight with the Mini 4 Pro, I loved it. I recorded beautiful video of the six flights that I took and only used ONE battery (with probably 40% left at the end). Yes the flights were short, but I wanted experience with take off and landing as a focus of my first flights. Next up, the Avata 2 has arrived with the Goggles 3 and the new Motion Controller. I will need to do my own learning around the drone, and will need to take the FAA test (I’m in the US). But otherwise I’m ready to go. I’m curious about the Goggles 3 and the Motion Controller, neither of which I have used so far, but from all of the videos that I’ve been seeing, they are apparently well liked by all. We will see how it all goes.
02:03 c'mon, that is the same as if you are driving your car at 60 mph , brake 10 mts before the obstacle and blame the abs brakes because it did not avoid the crash. 😊
I own the mini 4 pro and the only reason I bought the avata was for the goggles 3 and motion 3. They work with the mini 4 pro. The fact it was only a couple hundred more for the avata 2 is why I bought the whole package. The mini 4 pro imho is awesome for cinematic video and the avata 2 more for fun/fpv video 😎
I'm hopeful that this lack of backwards compatibility is just a temporary marketing stunt. Many websites are listing drone only purchases as being available May 1st. I'm hopeful this hints at some sort of firmware unlock to expand compatibility. But DJI has a famous level of contempt for the hardcore FPV community and their suggestions. So we shall see.
Never really wanted an FPV drone as I always figured you could never fly it alone (legally) and therefore flying opportunities would be few and far between. I see you always have Sam with you in your Avata vids. Now waiting for the Mini 5 Pro to come out I think. That's probably going to be my next drone. The sub 250g wait is just too useful not to have it and the camera is getting so good (the Mini 3 Pro is almost good enough). Enjoyed watching the vid though. Thanks.
Magenta look yes. I noticed a purple tinge right away. I got mine just to test the G3's and O4 before the air unit release in september. It flies like a brick compared to my self built ones but I actually don't mind it and it is very smooth.
Maybe buy some parts and do a slow build over the next 6 months till the o4 air unit is out. I have a real tidy build planned for the o4 release because betaflight 4.5 became available a day ago and has a ton of new features.
I have the original DJI FPV and bought the Avata 1 because I could use my existing controllers and goggles V2. I was hoping I could just buy the Avata 2 and do the same, but no. I’m still looking to buy the Avata 2, I’ll just have to sell my old one. Oh well. 🤷🏼♂️ That’s for posting this.
I'm looking for a DJI drone to get aerial photos while I'm out camping. I've read that other drones from DJI would be a bit better for this, but I would also like to just cruise around having fun in the FPV goggles. I'm by no means a photographer, not even a hobbiest. I just want something to get some decent/nice photos of gorges, forests, mountains, etc. Is the Avata 2 the best drone for this?
If a person is buying this as their first drone ever, and later wants to build a drone from parts, will the DJI headset and controllers be usable in a custom build?
So at present, no (i don’t think) however in the past the goggles (previous versions) have been able to work with camera and vtx systems from dji that you can fit on a custom drone. There’s been a compatibility update recently for these goggles but not sure whether this feature is there yet. Controller, no. Unfortunately not

Still waiting for DJI to relase googles and controler firmware update to make it compatible with Air unit O3, I'd love to get the new avata 2 as it has way longer flight time than my current FPV drones that have O3 on it, but i don't want to have to carry 2 goggles and 2 controllers everywhere i go.

Some of the footage looks jerky. Does it look that way in the goggles screen or because of post production processing. Is the motion controller not as smooth as regular controller. I don't care about recording, I want the best image and smoothness.
So anything in this video that is from the goggles don’t worry about, it always looks worse there. You can smooth it out more in post but i never feel the need. And these maybe 2/3 clips in here where there’s a small vibration as i’d crashed it on a flight and chipped a prop and didn’t have any spares
I think reviewers are mostly liars, it is better than avata 1 but it is nowhere near a proper cinewhoop. I got one, I was about to buy a DJI mini 4 for photos but thought since I fly FPV I might as well get the avata 2 for photos.

So anything in this video that is from the goggles don’t worry about, it always looks worse there.
You can smooth it out more in post but i never feel the need. And these maybe 2/3 clips in here where there’s a small vibration as i’d crashed it on a flight and chipped a prop and didn’t have any spares
How much this cost?
1200 USD for the kit I believe
@@cormac8613 it seems i will never have one😥
@@KosoWAR There is always a way to make a little cash if you really want to do the work.
It sucks in the wind.
256gb isn't that much of an overkill.....I have a 1tb in my mini 4 pro 😂😂😂
1TB?! 😂😂 you win, i fold 👏🏼
@DannyBligh will 1tb fit in the Avata 2 tho 🤔
@@drone_guy_matt well physically, yeah. Compatibility, no idea 🤷🏻♂️ only one way to find out 👀
I think reviewers are mostly liars, it is better than avata 1 but it is nowhere near a proper cinewhoop. I got one, I was about to buy a DJI mini 4 for photos but thought since I fly FPV I might as well get the avata 2 for photos.
Well i haven’t lied? 😂
I bought mine just to fly that's it
This must presently be the world’s best fpv drone, but it has its price..😳💵🤷🏼♂️
I don’t have the money😢
Wont purchase anything now that DJI is band in USA
Huge shame! 😪
DJI is not banned in the US at this time and if it is in the future, it will be for getting new product FCC approved, would not affect anything you already own.
no
It stoll falls out of the sky
Hit the water & there fried. So dji still have not improved nothing. And not improved the batteries in 10 years.
I gang get mine to activate, total rubbish
