Wow. Ngl, the fact that it went thru the narrow hole far away out of sight, out of connection ON ITS OWN. And then COME BACK HOME on its own, by going back THRU the narrow hole again...ON ITS OWN. That was straight up impressive and crazy on the device part. Im sincerely impressed !
WTF? That thing is definitely using next level optics and GPS to get back through that hole in the rock formation all by itself. Unreal! That feature alone makes it justifiable for FPV pilots who like to fly in high risk locations.
Many people don't know that it is standard protocol on mini 3/4 drones on loss of signal to take return path about 50ft to attempt to regain signal before initiating RTH. However, I never expected to see this behavior on an FPV drone when flying low to the ground let alone through a hole in a rock above water! WOW. Those new rear sensors are for stabilization when near ground and were definitely kicking in detecting the situation. Still amazing recovery that even DJI should be proud to witness.
However, if you have your RTH set to hover in place, it would not do return path and and wait for you to move closer or land when battery dies. Also if you don't have your RTH height set high enough it could run into an obstacle upon return. Given that with FPV we fly in challenging environments, these are settings people may forget to think about before each flight.
@@davidfranco826 RTH is something you set based on the environment you are flying today. If you are flying low under tree cover, you would not want RTH to ascend into the tree limbs. If you are flying long range around large obstructions in your path, you might not want RTH to hover in place. The third RTH option is to land in place, which you would not want to do over water. Of course, it's also good to know the default drone behavior is retrace the last 50m to attempt to re-establish connection.
I guess that’s why DJI is the only brand that anybody has ever recommended buying instead of the less expensive options that are all over Amazon and the Internet but everyone always just says skip the $300 drone and just get a DJI and I think that your video speaks volumes to that. I am blown away that it flew back through that arch and then flew itself up to its return altitude and came back to you. That was very impressive. Thanks for the video. I can’t wait for mine to get here this week.
I am sorry but when it comes to FPV-drones there are several brands that not only get recommended more but are also far better than the avata… come on, do your research. If you are talking about their normal photo/video drones, the I agree.
Yes. Enjoyed the content very much and very impressed at the autonomous behavior of the Avanta 2 after you lost contact. This video footage gives me great confidence in the Avanta 2. I have owned and traded multiple quadcopters, FPV goggles, built 5" racers that I'm not good at flying. One small DJI I returned for it's poor 720p camera within a week of ownership. My first purchase of many was an Autel Robotics X-Star Premium (Feb 2017) that I quite enjoyed especially for it not being limited to where and how I want to fly compared to DJI demands. I traded it to a man that needed for his work and could't afford be hand-held by gvmt regs. For me, I had no need to fly in special "zones" and it was much better utilized for his needs. I will consider another DJI product now that I've watched your content and the content of many others here that recommend the Avanta 2. Seems more fun and my interests are in fun, video quality and dependability as a hobbyist. I think this one is worth the try.
Regarding the EU Speed Limit - How does the drone enforce it in full manual mode? Does it just interrupt? Does it pull its nose up? Technically that shouldn't be possible in M-Mode since the pilot is in full control during that mode. I wonder how DJI did that.
O to the M to the G! That recovery was absolutely insane! Then to see that it went back through... I was going nuts. We'll done bro! You just got a new subscriber.
I can't help but wonder how purposeful that return protocol was (when it turned around, backtracked carefully to where it lost connection, while rocking side to side)....if that was purposeful, then that is great! But I wonder if it wasn't just ridiculous luck?
Standard protocol on mini 3/4 drones on loss of signal to take return path about 50ft to attempt to regain signal before initiating RTH. But never expected to see this on FPV drone over water. WOW
Wow! That last demonstration was priceless bro. I received mine yesterday. Haven’t flown it yet due to the weather, but this is very encouraging to know that DJI really invested in the technology of the Avata 2. Keep up the great work sir!
The majority of times photographers dont show the technical part but its is really educating for people to know what machine had been used to produce the result of the photos
That was absolutely stunning. I really don’t think any other FPV would have done that your video changed my mind about trying FPV for the first time. I guess I could wait on my air 3 ! But of course, I will not be taking a chance like that just to see my recovery. I’m just glad it can do it all drones that.😂
This is just soooo cool! Amazing technology! I'm blown away that the avata2 went back through the whole befor ascending and returning to home .!! Simply amazing!! I just got mine today. It took a while to get it all set up. So i took it out to a parking lot in the dark with minimal lights.wowwww i could actually see in such low light and the video looks awesome. Pretty clean looking straight out of the drone to my fold 5 with the new wireless fast transfer! That is great also! Cant wait for Friday after work!
Really cool shots! But It's not a fair review when you say: "The battery life time is out of this world compared to the other fpv drones of this size.." without showing the numbers. Other UA-cam reviewers showed real flight times, for instance advertised flight time 23 minutes but in reality ~17 minutes (Potato Jet).
Thank you! I‘ve already recorded the avata vs avata 2 comparison where I will talk about the reallife flight time. The 23min only is for optimal conditions, tested by DJI. But even 17mins is out of this world compared to other fpv drones of this size 🔥
Dude... you better do the lottery as that`s got to be the luckiest save ever!! DJI has really listened and fixed the main complaints of the original Avata. Definitely appreciating the reduced noise levels, secure battery fitment and image quality. The new easy acro modes are quite promising. Hopefully with future updates, DJI will expand the range of moves/add more customising. I would also like to see a package that includes the remote controller 3 with the fly more combo instead of the motion controller. I`ve been flying stabilised camera drones for a couple years now and I`d really like to make the leap to FPV, this seems like the perfect drone to bridge the gap. Thanks for the review.
DUDE!!!! That was epic. I'm so happy to know the drone can get out of situations like that. I bought the fly more combo as soon as it came out. I knew this was the drone for me and it hasn't disappointed me yet :)
You got so lucky with that return to home. It has no obstacle avoidance. I have seen so many videos of it switching to RTH due to low battery and going straight upwards almost into trees (it would have if people didn’t stop it). It’s good to see the signal loss RTH is handled much better.
Thank you for your beautifully prepared video, it's amazing. I have a quick question, where can you buy the new Remote Controller 3? This is not available on the official DJI website. Thanks
Thank you! Please double check the DJI website again, it's availabla in my country (germany) and should be available at yours as well. You can find the Avata 2 link in the first line of the description
This is amazing if Avata 2 is able to turn 180 degree and return to the point where she lost signal and then execute RTH. But having such ability it could be possible that she could fly all way back based on the recorded route she came so in such way RTH high would not be needed.
I have no idea how well you speak in your native language, however your English is better than many born in the USA have ever achieved. Impressive. So was this drone video, good job.
Thanks for this first view on the Avata! 😄 Does this Avata have a CE certificate? And I guess editing the footage with gyroflow is better than with Rocksteady, right ? 😉
It has got the C1 label now! The new rocksteady 3.0+ is amazing, I mostly use that because the workflow is easier. But gyroflow will still give you a minimal better result.
Great video. I live in Madeira Island, and great to see the drone footage. I recently purchased avata 2, can't wait to find new spots around the island.
That recovery was amazing, loved it. I have one question through. you probably have been asked many times. Which controller do you prefer? The RC 3 Or the RC motion control stick 3?
Stunning, and amazing. I'm so glad you got it back. Can you set the Avata 2 to record H.265, when @ 4K/60, 16:9, UW, Rocksteady?? Because there seems to be only an H.264 recording, which is very slow to render. If you can set it at H.265, how do you do it?
Great video. I was half way through this video when my doorbell rang and it was the delivery guy with my Amazon box containing my Avata 2 combo. Had to postpone finishing the video to unbox and start charging everything.
Fettes Video wie gesagt, super Storytelling... keep it up.
I finally got my remote control. I can't use manual mode. It's been giving me all types of trouble updating everything, which has to be the culprit. How is the ISO performance in your opinion? Glad yours worked! 😅
would love to know how long the battery would last - i live in thailand… currently use mini pro 4 - says 37-40ish minutes but due to the heat it’s roughly 50% of that… if this drone has say 23minutes of battery… do you think in 35 degree heat… i’m assuming around 10mins per battery. damn not a lot of time but i hope i am wrong. incredible video
Great video man! Compared to the DJI FPV, would you say this is worth upgrading to? I've had the DJI FPV for a while, but I'm still trying to decide whether to go for a new one or not. Thanks for your help!
Great video and this looks like a good step up, but the footage just feels still too compressed to me or not enough dynamic range. Even with cinematic coloring
Love your video. I just wonder how you got yourself in the losing connection to the avatar 2. It just went black from 100% fine to 0 connection within 1 second? I want to keep myself away from that situation.
Usually there are 2 scenarios: - If you fly far away at an open area without any obstacles, then the video transmission bitrate/quality will get worse only slowly. Over a longer period of time. - If you fly far away in the mountains and you suddenly fly behind big rocks (like I did), connection will get worse for 2-3 secs. Ok
Just what I need bro 👊
look forward to it
Looking forward. Also thank you for your video for beginner FPV, simulation, etc. Just wondering how to get to simulation for Mac users like me.
Red doch wieder deutsch ich versteh kein Wort
Imagine how happy a DJI engineer must feel seeing that recovery footage and your reaction. Hopefully, they see this video.
Hahaha right!
They're probably too busy building their next drone lol but yeah proprs to them
Yeah trust me that is actually the best success story of the sensors and RTH feature 😤😤😤
they must be like a ha~ppy dog, a ha~a~ppy, happyy dog

That right there is why I got a DJI Avata when everyone was saying you should just get into “real” FPV
That was the luckiest, most-epic GPS recovery I've ever seen! hahah Amazing video man!
Thanks mate! Yeah I was so sure I've lost it hahah
This is the most crazy recovery I have ever seen from FPV!!!! I am happy you got it back! Great vid btw
Crazy recovery action by the Avata 2 when losing connection! Well done DJI! - And great review, thx for sharing! (broke ≠ breaked ;) )
Yess it was for sure! Hahah thanks, always learning
OMG!! Never expected that!
Damn so when it lost connection it was still hovering!? Would’ve it have fallen in the water if it lost connection?
because it has gps@@WeouTHereburH

Thanks! I loved it there

Yes! (w)hole another level 👀
This is actually crazyyyyy 😂🎉 congrats on getting it back!
Wow, superb video Matthias and the way the technology got itself out of that situation is impressive, new sub here my friend.
All that BUILD UP for the recovery definitely paid off LOL..... That was INSANE.!!!
Actually insane recovery and great video
Best avata video I've seen! Congrats and thanks for the review!
Thanks for the review. Any chance you can compare the Avata 1&2 side by side? I see the 2 has the same sensor.
Yes, comparison video coming up the next days! The 2 has new obstacle sensors and a new camera sensor
Do you know how far away you were from the drone when signal cut off?
How lucky 4 you that it recorded that amazing footage lucky you HOOAH
dude you lucked out... what a cool shot ... amazing. Just got mine... cant wait to try it
Big applause for Dji engineers applause 🙌, they saved your drone 🎉🎉 🔥
👏👏👏
