      Do you still manually drag the regions after that to cross-fade them?

      Nope! They snap perfectly and you just highlight all regions to add your fades later

    I didn't know Ben Affleck's brother made Logic tutorials. HA! Not, but really, thank you for this. Very helpful. One added suggestion I have (my apologies if this has been addressed in previous comments) but to save even more time is to assign the secondary tool to the marquee tool, so then all you need to do is hold down COMMAND to make the marquee selection, instead of having to hit T+R every time. Thanks again!

    Using VariSpeed for this is such a good idea. Awesome. It would be cool if we could do all of this using just the keyboard. Which I is how I work in Resolve, pretty sure it’s the same in Premiere. Do you know if there is a way to use the marquee tool without the mouse?

  • @DavePettittVoiceOver
    @DavePettittVoiceOver 2 роки тому +1

    Finding the Varispeed is a real win. Thanks for that. I replaced "V" instead because I don't have to move my hand away from the the bottom left corner of my keyboard. Also used "Z" for ripple delete for the same reason. And because I rename a lot of my regions, I also enabled other preferences so I don't have to switch tools ever. Look under GENERAL>EDITING>Pointer Tool in Track Provides... to add some greater functionality.

  • @PolycultureArt

    Hey I just want to add that if you have "pointer tool in tracks provides" Fade, marquee and quick swipe click zones, then you can cut out having to swap between tools completely. For some reason it was switched off for me on my new computer, and being a while since I have used logic I was really confused as to why it was missing. Thats how I ended up finding your video. I would also suggest binding "delete and move" to a single key (I have it on Q) and that way you don' have to move your fingers as far and hold cmd. Same for Split at playhead (I have it on X).

    I was just commenting on another video where the creator was saying he’s done with Avid Protools and their stupid subscription fees. I was saying I wish other DAWs would work better for editing Voice Over lightning fast like I can in Protools. I’ve been a Protools users since 1999 using it all day for a living and I’m done with Avid’s constant fees for basic stuff. Your video may have convinced me to go Logic Pro with the ability to customize hotkeys and fast shuffle editing for VO / Dialogue. Thanks for the video… it was very helpful.

    • @OliverJHughes
      @OliverJHughes  2 роки тому

      Let me know if you become a Logic user because that’d be a big deal with how long you’ve been in ProTools! (And I cancelled my Avid this year because the subscription was no longer worth it)

    Great video. Coming from Audacity to Logic, I wonder how to easily match the volume between the speakers on the podcast. Always somebody who is louder or quieter ...

      @jacquelines.boothe2863 2 роки тому

      it's not going to be 100%, but it might speed your process up: you might like the "normalize region gain" feature in the arranger window (it's NOT the same as normalizing audio when bouncing). you can simultaneously raise/lower by peak or RMS, and by region, track, etc.

  • @PoetryFilms

    Thanks for this. Anyone know what happened to Logic > Preferences > Display in Logic 11? If I go into settings, the only Help Tags tab I can find is under Control Surfaces (eh?) and even if I turn off everything, the help tags still pop up and get in the way in the audio editor. Argh!

    Why not use "snap to zero crossing" to avoid the clicks? Also, something that has me puzzled is a way to use the keyboard to set and adjust Marquee in and out with the keyboard. This is a REALLY fast way to edit. This was how I worked on radio and voice-driven "choose" your adventure web sites for kids. This a great set up you could get going in ProTools. I could knock out edits and export 400 cues in about 4 hours. It was that fast.

    I'm planning to buy a MacBook pro but I was worried about to editing my audios, because it's so boring to cut and move manually, I usually record a lot of audio books. I work with audition but I think this software along to reaper would work pretty fine for me. Do you know if the option you explain here is available for Garage Band? Anyway I'm planning to buy the creative tools, including Logic
